Funeral for Douglas L. McCombs, 69, will be today at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4605 N. Kenny Road, Spokane Valley. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. McCombs, who was born in Winthrop, Wash., died Thursday.
He graduated from Marcus (Wash.) High School in 1952. In 1955 he married Ruth Denio and moved to Spokane. He owned and managed McCombs Engine Sales Inc. from 1979 until his retirement in 1994.
Mr. McCombs was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Studebaker Drivers Club and the Antique Truck Association.
He also designed and owned the Bonneville Land Speed Record Truck Endeavor from 1990 to 1993, which was displayed in the National Automotive and Truck Museum of the United States in Auburn, Ind.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Michael McCombs of Otis Orchards, Donald McCombs of Veradale, Philip McCombs of Farmington Hills, Mich., and Paul McCombs of Seattle; three daughters, Joan Hansen of Spokane, Carol Coppins of Holliston, Mass., and Kriste Bennion of Payson, Utah; five brothers, William McCombs of Knoxville, Tenn., Richard McCombs of Irrigon, Ore., Calvin McCombs of Otis Orchards, Andrew McCombs of Bellingham and Roger McCombs of Richland; two sisters, Betha Kristiansen of Sacramento, Calif., and Glena Hoffman of Irrigon; 23 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
