Henry Moore
Henry Thomas Moore, a resident of Porterville, died there Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004. He was 94.
A service was Dec. 22.
Interment was at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Porterville.
Mr. Moore was a native of Waynesboro, Va., and a resident of the Porterville area for 67 years, previously a resident of North Dakota, Montana and Washington. He worked as a farmer in North Dakota and Montana, and in highway construction in Montana. He briefly worked at Porterville Monument Works, and later owned and operated Earlimart Lumber Company, and worked in construction building houses. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic during World War II, and the American Legion in Earlimart. He was a member of Valley Oak Community Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees, and helped construct the new facility located at Mathew Street and Henderson Avenue.
He is survived by his wife Marie Moore of Porterville; one daughter, Arletta Ruiz of Porterville; two step-daughters, Mary Ann Schocky of Redmond, Ore., and Linda Everett of Rindge, N.H.; two sons, Darrel W. Moore of Pollock Pines and Loren T. Moore of Placerville; two half-sisters, Margaret Teigen of Montana and Jean Stephens of Wisconsin; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Melba Moore in 1992; two brothers, Dallas and Earl Moore; one half-brother, Kenneth Moore; and one sister, Mae Johnson.

Bea Null
Bea Null, a resident of Porterville, died there Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004. She was 96.
Visitation was Thursday at Whitehurst Loyd Chapel in Porterville.
A graveside service was Thursday at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Porterville.
Mrs. Null was a native of Paris, Okla. and a resident of Porterville for 75 years. She worked as a fruit packer at Suntreat Packing in Lindsay for 75 years, and was a member of Gospel Lighthouse Church in Porterville. She enjoyed watching The Trinity Broadcasting Programs.
She is survived by one son, Jack M. Null Jr. of Porterville; two daughters, Mary R. Jackson and Wanda L. Woods, both of Porterville; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jack M. Null Sr., in 1977; four brothers, Marshall S. Boyd, Ralph Boyd, Almond Boyd and Joe Boyd; three sisters, Ann Little, Dolly Winton and Nettie Boyd; her parents; and one grandson, Trent Pickard, in 1986.

Felipe Moron
Felipe Moron, a resident of Porterville, died there Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004. He was 80.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Whitehurst Loyd Chapel in Porterville.
A rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Whitehurst Loyd Chapel, with Roberto Leyva officiating.
Mr. Moron was a native of Chucandiro, Michoacan, Mexico, and a resident of Porterville for 29 years. He worked as a farm laborer for 28 years. He was a member of St. Anne's Church.
He is survived by his wife, Gracia Avila Moron of Chucandiro, Michoacan, Mexico; five sons, Nicolas Moron, Juan Moran, Leopoldo Moron, and Robert Moron, all of Porterville and Guillermo Moron of Michigan; seven daughters, Maria Moran of Fresno, Graciela Moron of Florida, Celia Moron of Chucandiro, Mexico, Rosa Moron of Morelia, Mexico, Rosauva Moron of Selalla, Guanajuato, Mexico, Carolina Moron of Chucandiro, Mexico, and Naborina Moran of Michoacan, Mexico; two sisters, Guadalupe and Josephina Moron, both of Chucandiro, Michoacan, Mexico; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Joey Cervantes
Joey Cervantes, a resident of Porterville, died in Cutler Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004. He was 20.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Myers Chapel in Porterville.
A service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Myers Chapel.
Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Porterville.
Mr. Cervantes was a native of Porterville. He graduated from Granite Hills High School. He worked at Rosa's Restaurant for four years and at Merle Stone Chevrolet as a detailer.
He is survived by his mother, Delia Cervantes of Porterville; one sister, Elissa Cervantes of Visalia; one brother, Jorge Cervantes Jr. of Porterville; one grandmother, Virginia Gonzalez of Porterville; one grandfather, Nemesio Cervantes of Mexico; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jorge Cervantes.

Velia Corona
Velia Corona, a resident of Porterville, died in Visalia Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004. She was 59.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Myers Chapel in Porterville.
A Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anne's Church in Porterville.
Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Porterville.
Mrs. Corona was a native of San Antonio, Texas. She worked as a certified nurses assistant for most of her life. She was a member of St. Anne's Church and the "Sew Much Fun" quilting club.
She is survived by her husband, Zenon M. Corona of Porterville; three daughters, Olivia and Adela Salazar, both of Porterville and Sylvia Salazar of Terra Bella; one son, Ray Salazar of Porterville; seven sisters, Alicia Soto of Terra Bella, Elida Alcorta, Eloida Gonzalez and Celia Zamarripa, all of Delano, Ernestina Trevino of Texas, Maria Guerrero and Minerva Lorta, both of Porterville; two brothers, Trinidad Narvaez of Delano and Arturo Narvaez of Alpaugh; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Margarito Salazar; and two sisters, Irene Castillo and Patricia Narvaez.

John Patino
John L. Patino, a resident of Hollister, died there Friday, Dec. 24, 2004. He was 54.
A Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Church in Hollister. There will be a procession to the church from Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home beginning at 12:30 p.m.
There will be a graveside service following the Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Hollister, with military rites performed by the VFW Post 9242.
Mr. Patino was a native of Porterville, and a resident of Hollister for 35 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Hollister and served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971.
He is survived by his wife, Henrietta Patino of San Juan Bautista; one son, Angel Patino of Aromas; his father, Francisco Patino of Hollister; four sisters, Mary Perez and Christine Villa, both of Hollister, Claudia Nunez of Los Banos and Elisa Flores of Hemet; three brothers, Frankie Perez of El Monte, Joey Patino of Hollister and Henry Patino of San Juan Bautista; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Perez and Adolph Perez.

Jack Sparks
Jack Sparks, 80, passed away December 11, 2004 in Goodyear, Arizona.
His children Apryl Fergus, Randy and Joey Sparks; son-in-law, Terry Fergus; daughters-in-law, Debbie and Terry survive him. Grandchildren: Ashley, Matthew, KC and Jazzmyn; nephew, Charles Wortham; sisters, Jessie Edwards, Anna B. Kaiser, Mildred Johnston and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Laveda; brothers Troy and John.
He was born to John and Nita Sparks on July 2, 1924 in Bochita, Oklahoma. He migrated to Terra Bella in his early 20s, married the former Laveda Wortham in 1946 and started his long and much loved career as a trucker.
He lived in Terra Bella until 1999 when he moved to Northern California to be closer to his children.
He was known far and wide for his pride in family, his devotion to his children, his love of country music and his Dodgers and his skill and competitiveness at cards.
Please join us for a celebration of his life on Saturday, January 8, 2005 from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Club House at 720 Worth Road, Porterville, CA.
Interment will be private.
Billy Belcher
Billy J. Belcher Sr., a resident of Exeter, died in Tulare Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004. He was 75.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Pentecostal Church of Exeter in Exeter, with the Rev. Ron Phillips officiating.
Interment is to be private.
Mr. Belcher was a native of Exeter, and a resident of Tulare County for 26 years. He served in the U.S. Army as a tank driver during the Korean War. He worked as a paint and body spe#####t for 40 years. He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Exeter. He enjoyed cooking and fishing.
He is survived by two sons, Charles Belcher of Hesperia and Billy Jack Belcher of Pleasantville; one daughter, Joy Heath of Pomona; one brother, Leroy Belcher of Arkansas; two sisters, Anna Jane Chavira of Exeter and Mary Lou Edwards of Bakersfield; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife of nearly 45 years, Wanda Vestal, in 1996, and one son, James Belcher in 2003.

Lois Leah Thorne
Lois Leah Thorne passed away on April 11, 2003. After a long battle with emphysema (including a lung transplant). Lois is now in heaven with her parents and her nephews, Dan and Dustin and her Scrabble buddy, Dorothy. She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Darcy Padilla (Micky) of Porterville and Stacy Frazier (Greg) of Simi Valley. Among her loved ones are her sister, Lorna Clark (Daryl) of Powell River, B.C. Canada, three grandsons, Jared Daniel Padilla, Brandon Ryan Padilla and Zachary Edward Frazier and many nieces, nephews, family and friends, of which include her "Potluck & Poker" friends of many years, Shirley Conley, Shirley Patton, Carol Byker, Pat Knight & Marie Solt.
Lois was born in Powell River, B.C. Canada on July 23, 1937. She moved to Hawaii where she married in 1962. Lois' husband was in the Army so they traveled extensively living in Hawaii for six years, where Darcy was born, Korea for one year, where Stacy was born, Germany for three years, as well as San Francisco and Fort Lewis, WA. While in Germany they traveled throughout Europe including England where Lois' parents were born.
The family came to Porterville in 1972 then to Germany in 1979. Lois and the girls came back to Porterville in 1980 and Lois got a job as librarian at Olive Street School where she worked for 19 years. She always said it was the best job she ever had; best school, kids and most wonderful people to work with. She retired in 1999.

Jake Becker
Jake Becker of Porterville died in Porterville on Sunday, April 13, 2003. He was 87.
Private services were held and private interment was to follow cremation.
Mr. Becker was born in Reedley and lived in Porterville for 36 years. He worked in road maintenance for 20 years.
He is survived by a son, Don Becker, of Hawaii.

Arcadio Cardenas
Arcadio L. Cardenas of Lindsay died in Lindsay on Sunday, April 13, 2003. He was 73.
Visitation will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. today at Webb-Sanders Funeral Home from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6:30 to 9 p.m. today and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Alex Ignacio officiating.
Burial will take place in Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery.
Mr. Cardenas was born in Mexico and lived in Lindsay for 26 years. He was a retired carpenter, having worked in cabinet building.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lindsay.
Survivors include his wife, Maria D. Cardenas of Lindsay; sons, Javier Cardenas of Santa Maria, Jose Cardenas of Farmersville and Alvaro Cardenas of Lindsay.; a daughter, Maricela Rodriguez of Lindsay; five brothers, Avalino Cardenas of Mexico; Roque Cardenas of Blythe, Hipolito Cardenas of Santa Barbara, Joaquin Cardenas of South Gate, and Hector Cardenas of San Diego; five sisters, Leonor Cardenas of Mexico; Rosario Cardenas of San Bernardino, Guadalupe Dealy of Santa Barbara; Maria Navarro of San Diego and Socorro Jimenez of San Diego; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Rafael Corrales
Rafael Sanchez Corrales of Carson City, Nev., died in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday, April 12, 2003. He was 60.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Mr. Corrales' son, Joel, in Porterville. Vigil service will take place at 6 p.m. at the son's home, and Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Anne's Church, with Father Jose Rico of St. Anne's Church officiating.
Interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Corrales was born in Durango, Mexico. He had lived in Carson City for one year after previously living in Porterville for 12 years.
He was a construction worker for a year and attended Guadalupe Mission in Porterville.
Survivors include his wife, Tomasa Corrales of Carson City; sons Joel and Miguel Corrales, both of Porterville and Gregorio Corrales of Mexico; daughters Virginia and Norma Corrales, both of Carson City; brothers Mario and Jose Corrales, both of Mexico; sisters Veneralda Corrales of Los Angeles; Sofia, Rita, Lucia, Enedina and Eufrocina Corrales, all of Mexico, and Isidora Corrales of Colorado and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Emiliano Corrales.
