Christopher Jacobsen
Christopher H. Jacobsen of Porterville died in Porterville on Sunday, April 13, 2003. He was 54.
Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Roulsten, pastor, officiating.
Private interment will follow cremation.
Mr. Jacobsen was born in Redlands and lived in Porterville for 21 years. He was a pawnbroker for 20 years and was a member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church.
He also belonged to Promise Keepers and the Central California Walk to Emmaus.
He was a member and past president of Porterville Kiwanis, Porterville Elks Lodge BPOE 1342 and the Free and Accepted Masons No. 303.
Mr. Jacobsen is survived by his wife, Sally Jacobsen, of Porterville; a daughter, Kristin Jacobsen of Porterville, a brother, Eric Jacobsen of Forresthill and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Central California Walk to Emmaus in care of Keith Loewen, 6305 N. Barcus St., Fresno, CA 93722, and the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 776 W. Grand Ave., Porterville, CA 93257.
Arrangements are under the direction of Myers Funeral Service.

Hazel Magill
Hazel A. Magill of Springville died in Porterville on Sunday, April 13, 2003. She was 78.
A service will be held at a later date. Interment will be private.
Mrs. Magill was born in Bakersfield and lived in Springville for 25 years. She was a florist for 15 years and attended the Church of the Nazarene in Springville.
She was a past member of the Emblem Club and enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by a son, Robert Magill, of Tehachapi.
Arrangements are under the direction of Myers Funeral Service.

Maria Salazar
Maria Salazar of Porterville died in Porterville on Friday, April 11, 2003. She was 76.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Evans-Miller Chapel, Exeter. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will take place at the service.
Interment will take place at Exeter District Cemetery.
Mrs. Salazar was born in Atwater and her family moved to Tulare County when she was a youth. She married Joe Salazar, who preceded her in death in 1991. She lived in Exeter for more than 20 years and she was a homemaker.
Survivors include her three children, Robert Salazar of Porterville; Mary Flores of South Bend, Ind.; and Vickie Hogan of Salinas; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Andrew Salazar.
Arrangements are under the direction of Evans-Miller Exeter Chapel.

Marion Salisbury
Marion Salisbury of Visalia died on Friday April 11, 2003. She was 74.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Visalia United Methodist Church. Interment will be private.
Mrs. Salisbury was born in Kansas and attended schools in Chicago. She married Donald Salisbury in Chicago in 1948 and they moved to Torrance in 1951.
The lived in Terra Bella before moving to Visalia to be closer to their daughter.
Mrs. Salisbury was a secretary for 20 years. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and square dancing and round dancing together.
She was a member of the Bakersfield Skirts and Flirts Square Dancing Club, the Ace of Clubs Square Dancing and the Lindsay Gardening Club. She also enjoyed cooking for her family.
Mrs. Salisbury is survived by her husband, Donald Salisbury of Visalia, a daughter, Janet Chirrick of Visalia, sisters Rose Nelson and Therese Winston, both of Illinois, five grandchildren and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Barbara Sancen, and a brother.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia.

Phillip Duboski
Phillip John Duboski, a resident of Porterville, died there Wednesday, April 16, 2003. He was 86.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Porterville with the Rev. Chuck Semonious of Prince of Peace Fellowship in Kernville officiating.
Mr. Duboski was a native of Beloit, Wis., and a resident of Porterville for 32 years. He previously lived in the Lindsay/Strathmore area. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a former member of Strathmore Lions Club. He served on the Strathmore High School board from 1970 to 1975. He taught at Citrus High School from 1968 to 1986. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Duboski of Porterville; three sons, John Duboski of Porterville, Bob Gill of Visalia and Alan Gill of Long Beach; four daughters, Dolynn Duboski and Diana Perry, both of Porterville, Phyllis Duboski of San Angelo, Texas and Debi Flippen of Bakersfield; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one nephew.
Mr. Duboski was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor Duboski, in 1975; a brother, Heif Duboski; and a sister, Elizabeth Mason.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 5900 Wilshire Blvd. Suite 1700, Los Angeles, CA 90030 or the Optimal Hospice, 430 W. Caldwell #C, Visalia, CA 93277.
Myers Funeral Service in Porterville is in charge of arrangements.

Peggy L. Barber 1948-2003
Former Porterville resident Peggy L. Barber died, Wednesday, May 28 at Anaheim Memorial Hospital from a two and half-year bout with ovarian cancer.
Her son Kevin and daughter Heather will hold memorial services at noon, June 7 at Forest Lawn-Glendale in Southern California.
She is loved and will be missed by many.

Mary G. LoBue
Mary Gallina LoBue of Visalia passed away on June 3, 2003 at the age of 92.
Born Mary Rose Gallina in San Jose, California on March 27, 1911, she was the second of four daughters born to Italian immigrants Vincent and Rose Gallina. She was raised on a prune orchard near Cupertino, California, and was a member of the first graduation class from Fremont High School of Cupertino.
In 1938 she married Fred LoBue, Sr. and moved to Tulare County, first to Lindsay and then several years later to the Woodlake area. Besides being a farmer's wife and raising three children, she was active in the Woodlake Elementary School PTA, Woodlake 4-H, St. Frances Cabrini Church and the Women of the Moose Club. In 1969 she and Fred moved to Porterville so that he could be closer to his Strathmore farming operations. Upon Fred's retirement in 1978 they moved to Visalia. After his passing away in 1980 she became involved in the Visalia Newcomer's Club and St. Mary's Church. She was also a life long member of the Sons of Italy, Enrico Caruso Lodge, of Visalia. Mary possessed very creative sewing skills and was quite adept at stitchery, crochet work and knitting. Second only to her family was Mary's great love for recreational gambling. Be it family poker games, blackjack, canasta, bingo, the lottery, or trips to Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas or Laughlin, she was always ready to go. She also enjoyed her Hawaii vacations very much.
Survivors include her son, Fred, Jr., and wife Donna, of Visalia, her daughter, Phyllis Lacey, and her husband Ron, of Porterville, plus five grandchildren, Roxanne LoBue, and her husband Derek Hurt, of Porterville, Vincent LoBue, and his wife Christine, of Porterville, Kiera Lacey Emmons, and her husband Kalub, of Portland, ME, Monica Lacey of Long Beach, CA and Eric LoBue of Santa Cruz, CA, as well as four great-grand daughters. She also leaves numerous loving nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, her son, Richard, who passed away in 1965, her parents and her three sisters.
Visitation will be at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Ave., Visalia, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, with recitation of the Rosary at the same location on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday at St. Mary's Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment in Visalia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to St. Anne's School; 385 No. F St., Porterville, CA 93257.

Coleman Wayne Wall
Coleman Wayne Wall passed away in Kingsburg, CA on June 1, 2003 of a heart attack.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Evert and Daisie Wall, and his brother, Delmar Wall.
He was born in Tulare, South Dakota and at the age of 10 years moved to Porterville, CA. He graduated from Porterville Union High School in 1944. Some of his childhood friendships continued throughout his entire life, Melvin Hawkeswood, Jim Dauber, Art Carpenter, Wyatt and Ed Harris to name a few.
In 1944 he joined the Navy, serving in the Pacific Theater for three years during World War II. In 1950 he rejoined the Navy and served three years in the Korean Conflict.
In June of 1954 he met and married Jo Johnson and they spent 49 years together. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Mitch and Andrea Wall of Fresno, Debra and Rick Martin of Apple Valley, CA, Tara Gardner of Clovis, and Lori and Brian Hamada of Fresno. He leaves seven grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, and many nephews and nieces.
He began his married life working for Green Motor Parts in Porterville and Lindsay. In 1964 he moved his family to Kingsburg, CA where he raised his children, as owner of Kingsburg Auto Parts. He later managed Five Points Auto Parts, before moving on to Harris Farms in Coalinga. In 1998, he retired from Harris Farms where he worked as Purchasing Agent for 15 years. He has suffered bad health since them.
Graveside services will be held at the Kingsburg Cemetery on Friday, June 6, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Viewing will be at Page Funeral Home in Selma, CA.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be sent to K-CAPS, 1145 Draper Street, Kingsburg, CA 93631 or a donation of choice.

Larry Jones
Larry Gene Jones, a resident of Porterville, died there Friday, May 16, 2003. He was 60.
Private services and interment will be held at a later date.
Mr. Jones was a native of Spokane, Wash. and a resident of Porterville. He was a carpenter for 40 years and a veteran of the United States Navy.
Survivors include two daughters, Christy Gentle of Rigby, Idaho and Tammy Carlson of Astoria, Ore.; two sisters, Linda Jones of Spokane, Wash. and Donna Garrahan of Chewelah, Wash.; one brother, Terry Jones of Spokane, Wash.; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, William and Wilna McLaren Jones.
Myers Funeral Service in Porterville is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Valine
Mary Ida Valine, a resident of Tulare, died there Friday, Nov. 28, 2003. She was 88. She was born Sept. 6, 1915 in Traver to Manuel and Carolina Valine.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday in Miller's Tulare Funeral Home. There will be a recitation of the Rosary by members of the Altar Society and all that wish to attend, Tuesday at 4 p.m. in Miller's Tulare Funeral Home. Rosary followed by Mass of the Resurrection Wednesday, at 11:30 a.m. in St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Tulare District Cemetery.
Mary Valine attended Woodville Elementary School and worked on the family ranch until 1980 when she moved to Tulare. Valine enjoyed working in her garden, crocheting and her lodge work. She was a secretary treasurer for 40 years for the S.P.R.S.I. council 124 Tipton. Her other lodge memberships include I.S.M.M. circle #16, I.D.E.S. council #89, U.P.E.C. #94, U.P.P.E.C. #58, S.E.S. #28, St. Anthony Society Lodge #24 and #8, Tulare County Cabrillo Civic Club #12, Luso-American Federation #60, Young Ladies Institute Loretto #153, Women's Cotton Club, Woodville Civic Club and the Catholic Daughters of America.
She was also a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and Altar Society
Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society at 211 North Encina, Visalia 93291; the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at 567 West Shaw Ave. Suite A-2, Fresno, CA 93704; American Diabetes Association Central Valley Chapter at 55 Shaw Ave. Suite 105, Clovis 93612 and the National Kidney Foundation 5777 West Century Blvd. Suite 1450 Los Angeles, CA 90045.
She was preceded in death by her brother Joseph Valine of Porterville.
Survivors include two sisters, Olivia Dores of San Diego and Elsie Hylton of Tulare; her brother Clarence Valine of Porterville; and numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Miller's Tulare Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ada Towers
Ada Bernice Towers, a resident of Porterville, died there Friday, Nov. 28, 2003. She was 86.
A graveside service will be at Vandalia Cemetery today at 10 p.m. with the Rev. Paulette Blaylock officiating.
Ms. Towers was a life long resident of Porterville. She worked at Magnolia Packing House for 20 years.
Survivors include her two daughters Pauline Mason of Porterville and Rhonda Higgins of Spokane, Wash.; one son Jeff Towers of Springville; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Ms. Towers was preceded in death by her parents, George and Emily Thomson; and a brother, Clifford Thomson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Roger Good Cancer Center, 465 W. Putnam Ave., Porterville, CA 93257.
