Frances Elizabeth Hassman
Frances Elizabeth Hassman "Granny Goose" Born in San Francisco on March 19, 1915, she passed away at Marin General Hospital at the age of 86. "Goose" was a resident of Raphael Convalescent for the last 18 months. Prior to her hospitalization, she was a long time resident of Terra Linda, "Goose" was a beautician; She worked for 10 years at the art; but was adamant that her license remains active until her death. Her husband, Otto passed away at the young age of 33 while they lived in Wisconsin. Frances is survived by her daughters Joanne Boyd, Elaine Tisell, Rosemary Lykkeberg, Patricia Hassman, her grandchildren Gary Tisell, Karin Quirk, Lori Graham, Erick Tisell, Norman Lykkeberg, and Craig Lykkeberg. She will also be missed by her great-grandchildren Nicholas Tisell, Nora Tisell, Frankie Graham, Alex Graham, Laura Quirk and James Quirk Jr. as well as her siblings; Thomas Girard and Lorraine Bush and numerous nieces and nephews. Her spouse Otto and her brothers Paul Girard and Father Damien Girard preceded her in death. Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of the Resurrection at Saint Raphael's Catholic Church Mission Chapel 1104 Fifth Avenue, CA at 10:00 A.M. Monday April 30, 2001. Elizabeth Kent Soloski In Marin County, April 26, 2001 after a long illness. Beloved Wife of Nickolas Soloski for 55 years; loving Mother of Caroline Ellis of Santa Rosa; Andrea Budd of Oakland; Mark of Sonoma; Theodore of Sebastopol and Eleanor Piazza of Portland, Oregon; she is also survived by her sister Eleanor Kent of San Francisco and beloved grandmother to 10 grandchildren: Sean Seeley of San Francisco, Justin Seeley of Sacramento, Sophie Ellis of San Diego, Bryan Ellis of Illinois, Jeffrey, Jacob and Jason Soloski of Sebastopol, Sarah, Molly and Hannah Piazza of Portland, Oregon. She was a native of California, daughter to the late William Kent, Jr. and Sophia Morris Kent, granddaughter of U.S. representative William Kent, the inheritor of a Chicago Meat-packing fortune who moved to Marin County in the late 1800's and gave Muir Woods to the federal government and park lands on Mount Tamalpais to the State. Other portions of the congressman's land holdings became the Kent Woodlands luxury housing development and after the state government refused to accept it as a gift - the Seadrift development on Stinson Beach. Mrs. Soloski was born in San Francisco and later became a resident of Marin County for 51 years. She was a graduate of Burke's School for girls in San Francisco and later became a USO volunteer where she met her husband, Nickolas. She was known for her great capacity of giving and volunteerism. While actively involved at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ross, she taught Sunday School for over 30 years, was a member of the Woman's Guild and participant of Cursillo. She also was a Pink Lady for 10 years at Marin General Hospital and provided home care to the elderly. Memorial Services will be at 2p.m. at St. John's Church on Lagunitas Road in Ross on Saturday, May 5, 2001 In Lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Lung Association.

Aileen Donovan Hogan
Aileen Donovan Hogan A Resident of Mill Valley Died April 25, 2001 after a brief illness at the age of 86. She was born March 4, 1915 in Santa Rosa. She is survived by her husband of 50 yrs. William S. Hogan, Jr.; 3 sons, Kevin Hogan, Brian Hogan, and William Hogan, III, her daughters-in-law Barbara Hogan, Kate Hogan, and Tracy Hogan, and her grandchildren Robert, Katherine, Brendan, Ryan Tyler, and Jack Hogan. She attended Ursuline High School in Santa Rosa during which time she lived at the convent. She worked at the Public Utility Commission in San Francisco before and after World War II. During the War she joined the Marine Corps and was stationed in Washington D.C. A life long golfer she met her husband Bill at the Mill Valley Golf Course in 1950 and they were married later that year. She was a member of the Mill Valley Outdoor Art Club and was active with Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Salvage Shop and also preparing meals for the Homeless. Her life enriched all who knew her through her loving, caring, and generous nature. She embodied living the Christian Life. Leslie G. Whitlow aka Les G. Whitlow Born in San Francisco, October 3, 1907, died on April 25, 2001 in Petaluma, age 93. Retired San Francisco Inspector of the New York Life Insurance Co. Member of St. Patrick Church in Larkspur. Loving husband (62 years marriage) to the late Lorene F. Whitlow. Loving father of Arlene (Frank Sawyer, Myrna (Dick, deceased) Barry, Barbara (deceased), and Annette (Ray) Miller, grandfather of 10 and great-grandfather of 16. He was a bird lover, a gardener and a wonderful handy man to his neighbors. Son of the late Edith C. Whitlow born in California and Theodore Whitlow born in Nebraska. David P. Turrini
David P. Turrini A life-long Resident of San Rafael passed away peacefully on the morning of April 24, 2001. He was 81. David was born on March 17, 1920, one of ten children of Peter and Marina Turrini. He served with the US Army in the Aleutians during World War II. He married Freda Been in 1944 and they had five children. David joined the San Rafael Fire Department in 1951, retiring in 1977 as a Captain. He was awarded Fireman of The Year honors in 1968. He belonged to SIRS, Native Sons, Marin Rod & Gun Club, and Club Italia. Two of his favorite pastimes were fishing and Notre Dame football. His wife, Freda, died in 1978. David married the former Miriam Riley in 1980. Miriam passed away in 1995. David is survived by all five of this children: daughters Phyllis, Elizabeth, and Marie, and sons David and Vincent. He leaves behind seven grandchildren: Marina, Sarah, Robert, Katie, Mark, Brandi, and Toni Marie and 2 great grandchildren. His brothers Bernard, John, Angelo, and George and one sister, Elizabeth, went before him. His other sister, Philomena, and three brothers Louis, James, and Peter survive him. There will be a Vigil at St. Raphael's Thursday evening, April 26, 2001, at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services are at 10:00 a.m. in St. Raphael's on Friday, April 27. Donations may be sent to St. Raphael's School, for the Sister Anne Marie Scholarship Fund.

Margaret Ann Zimmerman
Margaret Ann Zimmerman Died Monday, April 23, 2001, at Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa. She was 78. She was born on June 12, 1922 in Saskatchewan, Canada to Dr. Edward and Irma Finnerty. She was raised in Sonoma where her father set up his medical practice. Margaret moved to San Rafael with her husband, Bill Zimmerman, and she resided in Marin for over forty years. During World War II Margaret was a reporter for United Press International. Her work included headline stories that ran in papers nationwide. Writing was an important part of her life. In recent years she spent every morning at her old fashioned typewriter. Margaret was an avid San Francisco Giants baseball fan. She would often attend games at Candlestick park. When she arrived at the stadium one day to learn the Giants vs. Dodgers game was sold out, she volunteered as an usher for the three game series in order to watch the games. She is survived by her three sons: John and Bob Zimmerman of Napa, and Dan Zimmerman of Grass Valley; her sister Doris Wilhelm of San Rafael; her granddaughters Kari, Rhea, Jeannene, Katherine, Sara and Katie.
