Trevor Scott Smith
Trevor Scott Smith of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, at the North Okaloosa Medical Center. Trevor Smith was born in Crestview, Fla., on October 1, 1997, to Aaron and Martha Lister Smith. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Survivors include his father, Aaron Smith, and his mother, Martha Lister Smith; his sister, Katelyn Shae Smith; grandparents, Mario and Carmen Lister and Isabel Smith; three uncles, Jimmy Smith, Mario Lister and George Lister; two aunts, Diana Lister and Jennifer Lister, all of whom reside in the local area.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trevor Scott Smith Fund at Regions Bank.
Arrangements and services are under the direction of McLaughlin Mortuary, 17 Chestnut, S.E., Fort Walton Beach. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at McLaughlin. Following the service, the burial will be at Memorial Cemetery.
Joseph L. Guthre
Mr. Joseph L. Guthre, age 58, Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., died unexpectedly in Las Vegas on Dec. 30, 1997.
Mr. Guthre was a veteran of the United States Air Force and former owner of Associated Sign Art Systems, Fort Walton Beach. He was a member of American Legion, Post 235, in Fort Walton Beach. He was a Protestant in faith and resided in Fort Walton Beach for 15 years prior to moving to Las Vegas in 1994.
Joseph was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Sr., and is survived by a daughter, Michele Guthre, and a son, James Guthre, of Michigan. In addition, he is survived by his mother, Willa M. Rosenberger, Souderton, Penn., and a brother, David and wife Julia Guthre of Fort Walton Beach.
Private services will take place at Christ Reformed Church, Harleysville, Penn., at a date and time to be announced.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to American Legion Post 235, Hollywood Blvd., Fort Walton Beach, FL, 32548, in memory of Joseph L. Guthre.
Robert Earl Murphy Sr.
Tech. Sgt. Robert Earl Murphy Sr., age 67, U.S. Air Force, retired, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away at his home on Dec. 29, 1997, after an extended illness.
He was born in Mobile, Ala., on Nov. 26, 1931, to Emory H. and Mary Maherg Murphy. He moved here from Mobile in 1963. He retired from the U.S. Air Force at Eglin Air Force Base in 1968 with over 20 years service, having served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shrine.
Mr. Murphy is survived by his children, Robert E. Murphy Jr., of Fort Walton Beach, Jane Murphy Wofford and her husband Robert of Fort Walton Beach, James Hunter Murphy of Destin, Fla., and Valerie Reeves and her husband Gregory of Fort Walton Beach; one sister, Nell Smith and her husband Bill of Texas; one brother, Neil Murphy of Florida; three grandchildren, Ed Wofford, Matthew Wofford and Charlotte Palladino and his life-long companion, Yvonne Murphy of Fort Walton Beach.
A memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, in the Emerald Coast Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. John Connors officiating. Memorialization will be by cremation.

Vincent F. Luberto Sr.
Vincent F. Luberto Sr., age 84, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away in a local health care facility on Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997. He was born on January 18, 1913, in the Bronx, N.Y. He had been a resident of the local area for the past 21 years, moving here from Little Ferry, N.J. He was a Christian and a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church. He had been a member of Local 248 A.F.M. of Patterson, N.J. He was also a member of the Son's of Italy, Gold Diggers, Elks, and Moose Lodges.
Survivors include his sons Vincent Luberto Jr., and William F. Luberto, both of Clinton Township, N.J.; brothers John Luberto Jr., of Fort Walton Beach, William Luberto of Panama City, Fla.; sisters Margaret Rabas of Fort Walton Beach and also sisters, Louise, Anna and Mary, all of Little Ferry; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at 2 p.m. at the McLaughlin Mortuary Chapel. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service. The Rev. Peter Zalewski, will officiate at the service.
At Mr. Luberto's request, he will be cremated following the services.

Robert Charles Greenwood
Tech. Sgt. Robert C. "Bob" Greenwood, U.S. Air Force retired, age 57, of Niceville, Fla., passed away at his home on Dec. 30, 1997, after an extended illness.
He was born in Lempster, N.H., on March 24, 1940, to Henry W. and Delia M. McLaughlin Greenwood. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1978 with over 21 years service. He was employed as Assistant Greens Superintendent at the Eglin Golf Course; a life member and twice Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10090 in Niceville; a member of AMVETS Post 78 in Valparaiso, Fla.; Chairman of the Twin Cities Veterans council for eight years; project committee member of the "All Veterans Memorial" located on Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., and he was instrumental in establishing and coaching in the Little League Baseball Program in the Niceville-Valparaiso area in the late 1960s and the early 1970s.
Mr. Greenwood was preceded in death by his father and mother, Henry W. and Delia M. McLaughlin Greenwood; three brothers, Henry, Francis and Fredrick Greenwood, all of Raymond, N.H.; two sisters, Yvonne Gagnon of Epping, N.H., and Dot Charter of Candia, N.H., and is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Greenwood of Niceville; two sons, Robert A. Greenwood of Tallahassee, Fla., and David J. Greenwood of Opelika, Ala.; two daughters, Tamara J. Greenwood of Niceville and Valerie J. Jateff of Eglin Air Force Base; one brother, Wilfred Greenwood of Raymond; four sisters, Irene Smith, Helen Cammett, Eva Brown and Lilly Clifford, all of Raymond; two grandsons and four granddaughters, Jessica, Krystal, Anna, Tiffany, Steven, Cody and Caitlin; and a step-granddaughter, Tiffany.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Emerald Coast Funeral Home.

Kenneth Eugene Stack
Tech. Sgt. Kenneth Eugene Stack, U.S. Air Force retired, age 74, of Valparaiso, Fla., died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, in a local hospital. Tech. Sgt. Stack had more than 24 years of active duty, including World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was also retired from civil service work at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.
He was an active member of the E.O.D. Master Blasters and held memberships in the AMVETS and Elks Lodge in Valparaiso. A native of Endicott, N.Y., he had resided in this area for the past 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vicki Lynn Miller, and his grandson, Candelario Ybarbo III.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lois M. Stack of Valparaiso; his sons, William Stack of Sacramento, Calif., Kenneth E. Stack Jr. of Herlong, Calif., Rickey Miller and his wife, Cheryl, of Maiden, N.C., and Barry Miller of Meridian, Miss.; his daughters, Christine Verketis and her husband, Stanley, of Sacramento, Kathleen Stack of Sacramento, and Barbara Strickland and her husband, Roger, of Niceville, Fla.
His brothers, Teddy Stack and his wife, Bud, of Binghamton, N.Y., and Jimmy Stack of San Francisco, Calif.; his sister, Norma Vallequette and her husband, Clark, of Vero Beach, Fla. He was a loving grandfather to Holly Groff, William Stack Jr., Cynthia Verketis, Cpl. Roger Strickland II of the U.S. Marine Corps, Nicholas Stack, Stephanie Jay, Jennifer Sweeder and Rachel Miller, and a loving great-grandfather to Megan and Christian Groff and Shireen Stack.
The family will receive friends at the McLaughlin Twin City Funeral Home in Niceville on Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the McLaughlin Twin City Chapel on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at 11 a.m. with a U.S. Air Force chaplain officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Valparaiso.

Everett M. Wilkinson
Everett M. Wilkinson, 62, of Crestview, Fla., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, in a local nursing home. He was born in Milton, Fla., and was a lifelong resident of Crestview. Mr. Wilkinson was retired from the U.S. Army with 20 years of service and was a member of the Live Oak Baptist Church in Crestview.
Survivors are: wife, June Wilkinson, of Crestview; mother and father, Mayme and Alex Wilkinson, of Crestview; two sons, Joe Wilkinson and Johny Wilkinson; step-son, Buddy Causey, of Crestview; and sister, Sue Naugle, of Crestview.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at the Live Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Bill White officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Whitehurst Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Wilkinson will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the funeral service.

James F. Dalton
James F. Dalton, age 54, of Destin, Fla., passed away on Jan. 1, 1998, at his residence due to an unexpected illness. He was born on Jan. 6, 1943, in Greensboro, N.C. He had resided in the area for the past 8 years after moving here from Jacksonville, Fla. He was Baptist by faith. He was a retired firefighter in the Jacksonville area. He enjoyed the beaches of the local area and was also a sports enthusiast, both playing sports when he was able and watching. One of his hobbies was dancing. He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves. James was loved by many and had numerous friends, and it could often be said that, "He never met a stranger."
He was preceded in death by his son, Scott D. Dalton, and his father, James F. Dalton Sr.
Survivors include his mother, Mabel Ann Van Zant, of Gibsonville, N.C.; son, James D. Dalton, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; sister, Carolyn Davenport, of Gibsonville; grandchild, Tanner Scott Dalton; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins in North Carolina; and also his former wife and good friend, Carolyn Dalton, of Destin.
A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, Jan. 8, at 2 p.m. at the Shoreline Garden Town Homes club house, 930 Gulf Shore Dr., Destin, with the Rev. Ruth Turton officiating. Following the service, family and friends are invited to board The Yellow Submarine boat at 3 p.m., located in the Destin harbor dock area, to depart for the gulf and scatter his ashes. Floral tributes are acceptable and should be sent to his residence at 930 Gulf Shore Dr., Unit 6, Destin, Fla.

Phyllis Elaine Kline
Mrs. Phyllis E. Kline, age 65, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away in a local hospital on Jan. 4, 1998, after a brief illness.
She was born in Kokomo, Ind., on Sept. 3, 1932, and moved here in 1978 from LaJolla, Calif. She was a life master bridge player and a Lutheran by faith.
Mrs. Kline was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Robert E. Kline, on Nov. 2, 1966, when he was listed as M.I.A. in Laos during the Vietnam Era. Mrs. Kline loved her husband and continued to love and cherish his memory and never remarried. Survivors include a son, Chris Kline, and his fiance, Tammy Dumers, of Destin, Fla.; one daughter, Kimberly Ward, and her husband, Kevin, of Dothan, Ala.
A memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, in the Emerald Coast Funeral Home chapel. Mrs.. Kline will be memorialized by cremation.

Wilber M. Robert
Wilber M. Robert, age 65, of Destin, Fla., died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, at a Pensacola Hospital.
Wilber was born in Kansas City, Mo., on Jan. 2, 1933, to Charles and Florence Robert. He had been a resident of Destin, Fla., for the past year. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after a 20-year career. He also put in a 20-year career in the airline industry and was a member of the American Legion.
Wilber is survived by his loving wife Janice I. Robert of Destin, Fla.; son Donald E. Robert of Destin; sister Donna Lee Gregg of Independence, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at 2 p.m. at McLaughlin Mortuary chapel.

Fred Ackerman Beam
Fred Ackerman Beam, age 68, of Destin, Fla., passed away Monday, Jan. 5, 1998. He was born in Montgomery and graduated from Sidney Lanier High School. Mr. Beam received a B.S. degree in Accounting from Auburn University and spent his professional life in Birmingham as a CPA and partner with Weinberg, Ward and Beam. He was a member of many professional organizations and was elected to a term as president of the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants. He was a longtime member of Trinity Methodist Church where he served on the board of stewards. Mr. Beam also served in the Navy and remained in the naval reserves until his retirement. He is survived by his wife Blanche R. Petro Beam; daughter Kathy Beam Peeples and husband Stephen; son Fred Jonathan Beam; stepson Paul E. Petro (Dutch) and wife Jennifer Ann Bruce Petro; stepdaughter Dr. Susan Petro; grandchildren Samantha Leigh Peeples, Jordan Karl Peeples, Athena Dominique Dees, and Alexandrea Elizabeth Petro; sister Marianne Beam Brunson and husband Donald; niece Marianne Brunson McLemore and husband Bill, and their children Elizabeth and William; nephew Donald H. Brunson III and wife Lynn, and their children D.H. and Beau; and numerous friends.
Both the visitation and funeral service will be held Thursday, January 8, at the Santa Rosa Community Church at 9 and 10 a.m. respectively. A graveside service will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery, Ala., at 3:30 p.m. Flowers may be sent to the Greenwood and Serenity Funeral Home and Cemetery at 909 Lincoln Road in Montgomery. Pallbearers will be Harold Eskew, Paul E. Petro, Fred Denton, Jack O'Brien, I. W. May and Joe Kazmalyinski.

Rufus R. Stanley
Rufus R. Stanley, age 81, of 5576 Elzie Road, Baker, Fla., passed away Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, in a local hospital. Mr. Stanley was a native and lifelong resident of Okaloosa County. He was a member of the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Stanley was retired Civil Service.
He is survived by four sons and daughters-in law, Fred and Christine Stanley of Bonifay, Fla., Joe Stanley of Pensacola Beach, Fla., Ted and Alice Stanley of Freeport, Fla., and Tim and Diane Stanley of Baker; four brothers, Charles Stanley of Baker, Ogie Stanley of Baker, James Stanley of Crestview, Fla., and Floyd Stanley of Milton, Fla.; three sisters, Alma Sasser, Opal Wilkerson and Elizabeth Johnson all of Baker; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Vernisha Raye Winesett
Mrs. Vernisha Raye Winesett, age 60, of Crestview, Fla., died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at the West Florida Regional Medical Center in Pensacola, Fla. Mrs. Winesett was born in Andulusia, Ala., on Aug. 19, 1937, to William Dalton and Mable Peterson Kelley. She was a fifty-year resident of the Northwest Florida area. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was Assembly of God by faith. Mrs. Winesett was preceded in death by her father, F. A. Capps and by a great-grandson, Michael Sheats, II.
Survivors include her mother Mable P. Capps; husband Henry Winesett, Sr.; son Hank Winesett, Jr.; daughter Debra Strange all of Crestview; three brothers, William Kelley of Destin, Fla., Marvin Kelley and Foster Capps both of Crestview; seven grandchildren, Alisha Williams, Norman Williams, II, Michelle Sheats, Wesley Williams, Libby Williams, Amanda Wheeler and Krystal Winesett; two great-grandchildren, Lana Blair and Sebastian Williams; several nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and several friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, from the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pilgrim Rest Cemetery with Whitehurst Funeral Home directing.

Paul Scott Garrett
Thirteen-month-old Paul Scott Garrett passed away Jan. 5, 1998, from injuries received in an accident. He was born in Crestview, Fla., Dec. 6, 1996. Survivors include his mother, Teresa Garrett of Crestview; grandparents, Paul and Sue Garrett of Crestview, Donna and Winston Knight of Niceville, Fla.; maternal great-grandparents, Robert and Alphis Garrett of Crestview; uncles, Wayne Garrett and James Deavers of Crestview; aunts, Michelle Garrett and Betty Garret of Crestview; and sister, Nikki Grimes of Crestview.
Funeral services will be from the McLaughlin-Aultman Funeral Home chapel Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Larry Batson and Bobby Barlow officiating. Burial will be in the Dorcas Cemetery in the Dorcas Community.

Kenneth Marvin Wayne Cochran
Mr. Kenneth M. W. Cochran, age 67, of Shalimar, Fla., passed away in a local hospital on Jan. 2, 1998, after an extended illness.
He was born on Aug. 20, 1930, in Olney, Texas. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1973 at Langley Air Force Base, Va., with over 26 years active service. He was a golf pro at the Hurlburt Field Golf Course and a member of the Men's Golf Association of Shalimar.
Mr. Cochran is survived by his wife, Virginia H. Cochran of Shalimar; three daughters, Ruth, Joanne and Karen; and one son, Steve.
The family would like to thank all our close and dear friends for all their love, help and support during this most difficult time.
Mr. Cochran will be memorialized by cremation and his cremains will be buried at a later date.
