Franklin L. Wynn
Franklin L. Wynn, age 61, retired USAF Lt. Col., of Niceville, Fla., passed away suddenly on Feb. 11, 1998, and went home to be at peace with his heavenly Father. He had been attending his daughter's basketball game in Jacksonville, Fla., which is where he wanted to be when he left us. Frank was born Sept. 1, 1937, in Alexander City, Ala., to Ada Belle and Felt Wynn. He graduated from Pearl High School in Jackson, Miss., in 1953. Frank received a bachelor's degree from Mississippi State, and a master's degree from Troy State University. Frank honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for over 20 years, retiring in 1982. He was the recipient of numerous awards and decorations. He also had retired from Metric Systems Corp.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Jill; daughter, Krista; sons, Quentin and daughter-in-law, Bonnie, Alan and daughter-in-law, Noel, Geoffrey, Stephen and Michael. He also leaves behind his precious grandchildren, Robert, Matthew, and Brian Newton, and Alicia Ann Wynn; sisters, Bertha Wynn and Ann and her husband, Dr. Ben Wallace; mother-in-law, Sylvia Richardson; brother-in-law, Brian Richardson; a true and loving friend, Susan Edmondson; and a host of other relatives dear to him. He also leaves behind his faithful and devoted "family members" and best buddies, his dogs, who will dearly miss their "Dad." Frank will be greatly missed by the many friends he made since moving to Niceville in 1981. He made that decision because of the beauty he found here.
Frank was a lover of all sports but his greatest passion was attending his daughter Krista's basketball games at the University of Florida in Jacksonville. This is her senior year and his goal was to make it until she graduated from college. Sadly, our Lord decided something else for Frank; but know he will always be there watching her.
The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1998, at the McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Heritage Gardens Cemetery, Niceville, Fla., with military honors.

Juanita Galloway Scott Westmoreland
Mrs. Juanita Galloway Scott Westmoreland, 89, of Charlotte, N.C., died Feb. 14, 1998, at Gaston Manor in Gastonia.
Committal service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sharon Memorial Park followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Dilworth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Douglas Fairbanks and the Rev. James Trollinger officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.
Born Jan. 8, 1909, in Dillon County, S.C., a daughter of the late Charles Ross Scott and Margaret Scott, Mrs. Westmoreland was a lifelong resident of Charlotte until moving to Gaston Manor in Gastonia 14 months ago. She was a graduate of the Charlotte City Schools and Kings Business College and was associated with Scholtz Greenhouses for over 20 years.
Mrs. Westmoreland was a charter member of Dilworth United Methodist where she was a memember of the Mouzon Bible Class and a life-member of the administrative board. She was also a long-time member of the Dilworth United Methodist Women and circles of the church. For many years she was an active member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, and enjoyed playing bridge.
Survivors include her sons, Victor Sloan Westmoreland Jr. and his wife, Helen, of Valparaiso, Fla., Robert Scott Westmoreland, of Aiken, S.C., and James Ross Westmoreland and his wife, Barbara, of Gastonia; and son-in-law, Donald J. Kearns, of High Point, N.C.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lynne Kearns Mondary, and husband, Frank, of Cary, N.C., Donnie Kearns and wife, Monte, of Charlotte, N.C., David Kearns and wife, Stephanie, of High Point, N.C., Karen Westmoreland Madruga and husband, James, of Warner Robins, Ga., Christopher Westmoreland and wife, Kristin, of Durham, N.C., and Andrew Westmoreland, of Gastonia, N.C.; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Sloan Westmoreland, and her daughter, Margaret Ellen Westmoreland Kearns, of High Point, N.C.
The family is at the home of James Westmoreland in Gastonia, 2437 Woodleigh Drive.

Jessica N. Bachmann
Jessica N. Bachmann, age 78, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Bachmann was born on July 10, 1919, in Springfield, Mass., to Nelson and Nellie Artabane Douaihy. She moved to this area in 1971 from Columbia, Md., and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church; Legion of Mary; Council of Catholic Woman Sodality; a volunteer at Humana Hospital; and the Florida Homemakers Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990, John F. Bachmann. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Franz J. and Monica J. Bachmann of Crestview, Fla.; sister, Vivian Rahmy of Springfield; brother, Joseph Douaihy of Scranton, Pa.; grandchildren, John J. and Matthew Bachmann; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 18, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home, with a rosary prayer service to be conducted at 5:30 p.m. with Father Sean Garrett officiating.
A funeral Mass will be conducted from St. Mary's Catholic Church on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m. with Father Sean Garrett as celebrant.

Murlie Stanley Wilson
Murlie Stanley Wilson, age 93, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, in Murfreesboro.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Andalusia, Ala., on Dec. 3, 1904, to Garrett and Minnie Lee Stephens Stanley and had resided in Northwest Florida until 1991, when she moved to Tennessee. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include nine nieces and nephews; 21 grandnieces and nephews; 21 great-great-nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Laura Bell Stanley of Niceville, Fla.
A time of visitation will be conducted from Whitehurst Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb. 18, from noon to 1 p.m., when the funeral will be conducted from Whitehurst Chapel with Mr. Tom Dugan officiating. Interment will follow the service in Beaver Creek Cemetery in Baker, Fla.

James E. Dickey
James E. Dickey, age 55, of Freeport, Fla., died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998.
Mr. Dickey was a native and lifelong resident of Freeport. He was a member of Freeport American Legion; a Master Mason; and worked most of his life overseas in the oil industry.
He is survived by his mother, Elmer Y. Dickey of Freeport; brothers, Ralph and John Paul Dickey of Freeport, and Roy Dickey of Dell City, Okla.; sisters, Frances Harvey of Pensacola, Fla., Mary Alice Brown, Katherine Cleveland and Shirley Brown, all of Freeport, and Ina Marler of Marianna, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, in the chapel of Clary-Godwin Funeral Home with the Rev. Harry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Hatcher Cemetery with Masonic rites conducted at graveside.

Conrad C. Bush
Master magician Connie Bush at age 94 has joined Houdini, Blackstone, Sr., Keller and Thurston in the spirit world. Mr. Bush died early Sunday morning, Feb. 15, 1998, following a brief illness.
Mr. Bush was born in Prospect Park, N.J., on Oct. 30, 1903. He traveled all over the United States as an accountant for a firm presently known as Ernst & Young, and later retired from the firm. Though his profession was as an accountant, his true love was magic.
Mr. Bush was a member of the Society of American Magicians for 67 years and was named honorary lifetime member. He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians for over 50 years and was the recipient of the Order of Merlin Excalibur. He also performed magic in Vaudeville shows in earlier years.
Shortly after the passing of his wife Leona, he moved from New Jersey to Fort Walton Beach, Fla., to be with the rest of his family.
Mr. Bush is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Conrad L. and Betty Bush of Fort Walton Beach; and his two grandsons and their wives, Leonard and Barbara Bush of Somerset, Ky., and Jonathan and Cerina Bush of Fort Walton Beach.
His family will miss him, but the magic fraternity will miss one of its most accomplished close up magicians.
There will be no formal services. At Mr. Bush's request, he will be memorialized by cremation.
Louise Cowan
Louise Cowan died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, in a local care facility.
She was born in Fleming, Kan., in December 1904, and moved to New Mexico in 1933. She had lived in Florida since 1993.
Mrs. Cowan was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Cowan, in 1987, and her daughter, Patricia, in 1996.
Survivors include her son, Raymond G. Cowan Jr., and wife Rebecca; daughter, Betty Myers and husband John; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Carlsbad, N.M., on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Gene Harbaugh officiating. Services will be under the direction of West Funeral Home in Carlsbad.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 4 N.E. Jackson St., Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548.
