DOROTHY WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO JOSEPH HOMER POLITTE ON JUNE 20, 1953, IN POTOSI, MISSOURI.
DOROTHY IS SURVIVED BY ONE STEP SON, JAMES POLITTE AND WIFE JUDY OF POTOSI, ONE STEP DAUGHTER, PEGGY GEISLER AND HUSBAND RALPH OF LAKE OZARK, A SPECIAL STEP GRANDSON, RICHARD "RICK" COMPTON, MANY GRANDCHILDREN AND STEP GRANDCHILDREN, ONE BROTHER, JOHN "BUD" HAGUEWOOD AND WIFE ONEIDA OF POTOSI, ONE SISTER, HELEN MAXWELL OF POTOSI, A SISTER-IN-LAW, ANN HAGUEWOOD, NEPHEW, BOB MAXWELL AND WIFE PAT OF POTOSI, NIECE, SUSAN STRAYER-JOHNSON AND HUSBAND BILL OF POTOSI, A DEAR AND SPECIAL FRIEND CATHERINE POLETE OF POTOSI AND BY MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. DOROTHY WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER PARENTS, CLYDE AND ROSE STRAYER, HER HUSBAND, JOSEPH HOMER POLITTE, TWO BROTHERS, JIM HAGUEWOOD AND HARRY STRAYER, ONE SISTER, GLADYS HAGUEWOOD AND ONE BROTHER-IN-LAW, PERRY MAXWELL.
DOROTHY WAS A LONG TIME MEMBER OF THE ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH IN POTOSI.
DOROTHY HAD A GREAT LOVE FOR TROUT FISHING AND TOOK GREAT PRIDE IN TEACHING YOUNGER PEOPLE THE ART OF TROUT FISHING. DOROTHY ENJOYED MAKING CRAFTS AND WORKING IN HER GARDENS.
VISITATION WAS HELD FROM 6:00 PM TO 9:00 PM ON NOVEMBER 30, 2000 AT MOORE FUNERAL HOMES IN POTOSI.
FUNERAL SERVICES WAS CONDUCTED AT 11:00 AM ON DECEMBER 1, 2000 AT ST. JAME CATHOLIC CHURCH WITH FATHER RICHARD TILLMAN AND FATHER GEORGE GALOVICH OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN RED BUD MEMORIAL GARDENS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE SONNY HAGUEWOOD, DOUG HAGUEWOOD, DAVID JOBE, RYAN JOBE, MATTHEW MAXWELL, AND BRAD JOBE.
MARY AVA VEACH
MARY AVA VEACH OF CADET, MO, WAS BORN AT FERTILE, MO, ON MARCH 22, 1923. SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF THE LATE ARTHUR AND JOSEPHINE (COLEMAN) PRICE. MARY DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT THE MISSOURI BAPTIST HOSPITAL IN ST. LOUIS, MO, ON DECEMBER 6, 2000 HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF SEVENTY SEVEN YEARS, EIGHT MONTHS, AND FOURTEEN DAYS.
MRS. VEACH WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO CHARLES VEACH AND ELEVEN CHILDREN WERE BORN TO THIS UNION. CHARLES PRECEDED MARY IN DEATH ON FEBRUARY 14, 1992.
SHE IS SURVIVED BY FIVE SONS; CHARLES VEACH AND WIFE KAREN OF CADET, JOHN VEACH AND WIFE GEORGIA OF CADET, AL VEACH AND WIFE IMA OF CADET, GERALD "JERRY" VEACH OF HILLSBORO, MARK VEACH OF CADET, THREE DAUGHTERS; MARILYN MOCCA OF POTOSI, JUDY COLEMAN AND HUSBAND JOHN OF CADET, MARY ALICE HINZE AND HUSBAND SHANNON OF POTOSI, AND ONE BROTHER JOHN PRICE AND WIFE FAYE OF BLACKWELL, NINETEEN GRANDCHILDREN AND SIXTEEN GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. IN ADDITION TO HER PARENTS AND HUSBAND SHE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY ONE DAUGHTER, CAROL DIANE VEACH, TWO SONS, BILL AND JOE VEACH, ONE SISTER, EDNA CECILA COLEMAN, THREE BROTHERS, LOUIS, JAMES AND MARION "SHELBY" PRICE, TWO DAUGHTERS-IN-LAW SHEILA VEACH AN SUSAN VEACH.
MARY AVA WAS A STRANGER TO NO ONE AND A FRIEND TO ALL, WHICH EARNED HER MUCH RESPECT AND THE RECOGNITION OF BEING A MOM TO EVERYONE. THE WONDERFUL THING ABOUT BEING RELATED TO MARY AVA VEACH IS THAT NO MATTER WHICH MEMBER OF HER FAMILY SHE WAS SPEAKING TO, SHE ALWAYS MADE THEM FEEL LIKE HE OR SHE WAS HER FAVORITE. SHE HAD MANY INTERESTS INCLUDING, QUILTING, CROCHETING, GARDENING AND FAMILY GATHERINGS ESPECIALLY AT CHRISTMAS TIME. SHE LOVED TO LAUGH AND MEASURED HER DAYS BY THE SMILES SHE BROUGHT TO OTHERS. THOUGHTS OF MARY AVA ARE THOUGHTS OF WARMTH, LOVE AND LAUGHTER. SHE WILL BE MISSED, BUT HER LEGACY WAS DEEPLY SEWN INTO EACH WHO WERE PRIVILEGED TO BE TOUCHED BY HER WONDROUS SPIRIT.

THOMAS GLEN "PETE" PORTELL OF POTOSI, MO, WAS BORN AT CADET, MO, ON FEBRUARY 10, 1941. HE WAS THE SON OF THE LATE THOMAS AND HELEN (MARTIN) PORTELL. PETE DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT HIS RESIDENCE IN POTOSI, MO, ON DECEMBER 7, 2000 HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF FIFTY NINE YEARS, NINE MONTHS, AND TWENTY SEVEN DAYS.
HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS SPECIAL AND DEVOTED FRIEND DOROTHY MOSIER OF POTOSI, TWO SONS; TOMMY PORTELL OF DESOTO, AND DARRIN PORTELL OF ST. CLAIR, TWO DAUGHTERS; DEBBIE HOWERTON AND HUSBAND SCOTT OF CADET, AND CATHY AKERS OF ST. CHARLES, THREE SISTERS; VIRGINA, MRS. FRAN PASHIA, OF OLD MINES, SHIRLEY, MRS. DENNY DALTON, OF MINERAL POINT, AND CAROL GLORE OF PARK HILLS; FIVE GRANDCHILDREN; AND MANY NIECES, NEPHEWS, GREAT NIECES, GREAT NEPHEWS COUSINS AND FRIENDS.
PETE HAD A GREAT LOVE FOR MOTHER NATURE AND HER MANY GIFTS. HE ENJOYED HUNTING AND FISHING WITH HIS MANY FRIENDS. TAKING LONG DRIVES ON GRAVEL ROADS LOOKING FOR WILDLIFE OR ANOTHER FISHING SPOT WERE WAYS HE LOVED SPENDING TIME. PETE WAS A MEMBER OF THE ST. JOACHIM CATHOLIC CHURCH AND A MEMBER OF THE POTOSI ELKS LODGE #2218.
PETE WILL BE LONG REMEMBERED FOR HIS WONDERFUL SENSE OF HUMOR, ALWAYS READY FOR A GOOD JOKE OR SOMETHING FUNNY THAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED DURING ONE OF HIS HUNTING TRIPS WITH HIS BUDDIES.

JESSE SPARKS OF MINERAL POINT, MISSOURI, WAS BORN DECEMBER 2, 1915, IN MINERAL POINT, MISSOURI, A SON OF THE LATE JESSE L. AND GOLDIE MARY (LORE) SPARKS. JESSE DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT HIS RESIDENCE ON MARCH 2, 1999, HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF EIGHTY-THREE YEARS AND THREE MONTHS.
JESSE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO HELEN COLEMAN ON APRIL 15, 1940, AT THE ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH IN POTOSI AND TO THIS UNION ONE SON WAS BORN.
JESSE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE, HELEN R. SPARKS OF MINERAL POINT, ONE SON, JESSE EDWARD SPARKS AND WIFE DONNA, TWO GRANDCHILDREN, KURT SPARKS AND WIFE DEBBIE OF ST. LOUIS, KELLY CROSS AND HUSBAND KEVIN OF ST. LOUIS, FIVE GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, JACOB, ZACHERY AND KATIE CROSS OF ST. LOUIS, KYLE AND KALIN SPARKS OF ST. LOUIS, ONE SISTER, RITA GADDY OF FLORISSANT AND BY MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN ADDITION TO HIS PARENTS HE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY TWO BROTHERS, IRVIN AND BORDEN SPARKS, THREE SISTERS, NAOMI SPARKS, SYLVIA CLAY AND CELESTINE WALSH.
JESSE WAS A LIFELONG TRUCKER, HAVING OWNED HIS OWN TRUCKING BUSINESS MOST OF HIS LIFE. JESSE WAS A LIFELONG MEMBER OF THE ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH, WERE HE OFTEN SERVED AS AN USHER. HE WAS A PAST MEMBER OF THE MINERAL POINT LIONS CLUB. JESSE'S FAVORITE PAST TIME WAS WATCHING BASEBALL.
JESSE HAD A GREAT LOVE FOR HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS EACH OF THEM HELD A VERY DEAR PLACE IN HIS HEART.
VISITATION WAS HELD THURSDAY, MARCH 4, 1999, FROM 5:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. AT THE GUM & SON FUNERAL HOME IN POTOSI.
A FUNERAL WAS CONDUCTED FRIDAY, MARCH 5, 1999, AT 11:30 A.M. AT ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH WITH FATHER GEORGE GALOVICH OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN CALVARY CEMETERY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF GUM & SON FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.
