Carl W. Blumenschein Jr.
Carl W. "Bill" Blumenschein Jr., a colorful resident of Destin, Fla., for over 30 years, died at his home July 4, 1998.
Bill, born on March 19, 1922, in Highland Park, Mich., was the son of Dr. and Mrs. Carl W. Blumenschein. In his younger years, Bill lived in Harrisburg, Pa., served in World War II, and worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad.
He will be greatly missed by his many friends, and his dogs: Champ, Bill and Goldie.
In his final weeks, Bill was appreciative of his friends, who provided physical and emotional nourishment, and the care he received from the staff of Hospice.
At his request, there will be no service. His ashes will be interred alongside his parents at Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill, Pa.
Little Chapel Funeral Home, 910 Beal Pkwy., Fort Walton Beach, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.

Cora O. Brooks
Cora O. Brooks, age 77, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., went to heaven on July 7, 1998.
She was born on Oct. 17, 1920, in Lexington, Ind., to Eugene and Agnes Bush. She had been living in this area since 1960, and was a member of the First Nazarene Church of Fort Walton Beach. Cora was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Howard H. Brooks; sons, Charles and wife Jerrilyn of Tucson, Ariz., and Donald and wife Bridget of Niceville, Fla.; grandson, Kelly and wife Joelle of Tucson; granddaughters, Chavanda Brooks of Niceville, and Vicki and husband Christian Johnson; and great-grandson, Brent Johnson of Niceville.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday at McLaughlin Mortuary from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Thursday, July 9, at McLaughlin Mortuary. Interment will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery.

Arthur A. McAllister
Chief Warrant Officer Arthur A. McAllister, U.S. Army retired, a resident of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., since 1992, died Monday, July 6, 1998, at his home.
Arthur, born on July 15, 1936, in Greenville, Mich., was the son of L.D. and Hilda McAllister. He was Protestant by faith. Following his retirement from the U.S. Army, Arthur worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier. He was a member of American Legion Post 325 in Fort Walton Beach.
Arthur is survived by his mother, Hilda McAllister of Destin, Fla.; his loving wife, Chae Suk McAllister of Fort Walton Beach; sons, Mark Anthony McAllister of Austin, Texas, and L'Den Daniel McAllister of Fort Walton Beach; daughters, Teresa Tapper of Stoughton, Mass., Nannette McAllister of Bitely, Mich., Juli Boeve of Holland, Mich., Michelle Keeling of Yuma, Ariz., Laurie Burnett of El Paso, Texas, and Annie and Angelina McAllister of Fort Walton Beach; stepdaughters, Debra Bostic of Tad, W.Va., and Sandra Baker of El Paso; sister, Jo Ann Schreur of King of Prussia, Pa.; and 11 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Little Chapel Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, July 9, at Little Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Boyce A. Teas officiating. Burial will follow in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.

Gloria Vione Cook
Gloria Vione Cook, age 66, of Shalimar, Fla., passed away Monday, July 6, 1998, at her residence.
Mrs. Cook was born on Feb. 9, 1932, in Lac Qui Parle, Minn., to the late Herbert Oliver and Minnie Othelia Borgendale. She moved to the Fort Walton Beach, Fla., area about nine years ago from Clovis, N.M. She was a member of Mary Esther United Methodist Church; Friendship Sunday School Class; and the Officers' Wives Club at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.
Mrs. Cook is survived by her husband, Oliver J. Cook of Shalimar; sons, James E. Cook and wife Toni of Lenexa, Kan., Richard O. Cook and wife Louise of Kansas City, Mo., and Randall A. Cook and wife Charlye of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Lauren M. Cook, Jared E. Cook and Erin L. Cook, all of Lenexa; brother, Dr. Llewellyn V. Borgendale of Wamego, Kan.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at Mary Esther United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Roberts officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Mount Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Bay Medical Center Hospice, 155 Crystal Beach Drive, Suite 135, Destin, FL 32541; American Cancer Society, 4 N.E. Jackson St., Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548; or to a charity of your choice.

Anna Catherine Horn
Anna Catherine Petit Horn, age 78, of Crestview, passed away Monday, July 6, 1998, at her home.
She was a native of Indianapolis and had lived in Crestview since 1988. Mrs. Horn was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II. Mrs. Horn was a former resident of Crestview Manor.
She was preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Shirley Horn; stepgranddaughter, Cheryl Lawrence, both of Crestview; and a stepgreat-grandson.
A private memorial service will be held by the family. Mrs. Horn will be inurned in Barrancas National Cemetery.
Brackney Funeral Service, Crestview, is in charge of arrangements.

Arthur Alfred Lohr
Mr. Arthur Alfred Lohr, 68, of Fort Walton Beach, died Thursday morning in a local nursing home. Mr. Lohr was born on Sept. 4, 1929 in Swanton, Md, to the late William Byard and Ruth Lohr. Mr. Lohr moved to the Fort Walton Beach area in 1964 from Maine. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Lohr is survived by his wife, Doris Lohr, of Fort Walton Beach; a daughter, Diane Perrin and her husband, Tom, of Huntsville, Ala.; a son, John William Lohr and wife, Terry, of Valdosta, Ga.; two sisters, Alice Plank and husband, Richard, of Oakland, Md., and Emma Miller and husband, Richard, of Springs, Pa.; and five grandchildren, Sarah, Brian, David, Ben and Christopher.
A memorial service for Mr. Lohr will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the Emerald Coast Funeral Home Chapel.
The family of Mr. Lohr would like to pay special appreciation to the nursing staff at Westwood Healthcare Center, Dr. Chang's office and to the staff at Hospice of Northwest Florida.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Hospice of Northwest Florida, 1005 West College Boulevard, Niceville, Fla., 32578 in memory of Mr. Arthur Alfred Lohr.

Eiler McIntosh
Eiler McIntosh, age 92, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Tuesday morning, July 7, 1998, in a local hospital.
Mrs. McIntosh was born on Sept. 30, 1905, in Brundidge, Ala., to the late Atlas A. and Loxy Tew. She moved to the Fort Walton Beach area about 25 years ago from Baker, Fla., and was a member of the Fort Walton Beach Church of Christ.
Mrs. McIntosh is survived by three sons, Alfred A. McIntosh and wife Jewel of Fort Walton Beach, Drewid L. McIntosh and wife Betty of Hansville, Ala., and Euell K. McIntosh and wife Bettye of Atlanta; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, July 10, in Live Oak Memorial Cemetery in Crestview with Mr. Warren Potter officiating.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Warren Frederick Mook
Warren Frederick Mook, age 69, of New Port Richey, Fla., died Monday, July 6, 1998, in a local hospital.
Mr. Mook was born in Franklin, Pa.; he moved to New Port Richey 15 years ago from Niceville, Fla. He was a planner at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., and a member and elder at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mr. Mook was a U.S. Navy veteran, and a Scout master for 17 years in Niceville.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene Mook of New Port Richey; son, Gary Mook of Navarre, Fla.; daughters, Bonnie Smith of Navarre, Cheryl Mosley of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Gail Keeney of Destin, Fla., Trudy Shawver of Tacoma, Wash., and Donna Steeley of Pensacola, Fla.; stepsons, Roy Uzzle of Harrisburg, Ill., and David Uzzle of New Port Richey; stepdaughter, Kathy Colton of Orem, Utah; and 25 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 10, at Lewis Funeral Home, Navarre Chapel, with Bishop Ed Martinelli of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officiating. Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery, with military honors.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Bruce J. Riddar
Bruce J. Riddar, age 50, of Crestview, Fla., passed away Wednesday, July 8, 1998, in a local hospital.
He was a native of Worcester, Mass., and moved to Crestview from Clearwater, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Riddar of Crestview; mother, Dagmar Riddar; children, Cody Riddar and Butch Riddar, all of Los Angeles; one brother; and one sister.
A memorial service will be held on the Gulf at a later date.

Grace Walker Tompkins
Grace Walker Tompkins passed into God's presence Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at Bay Heritage Nursing Home in Niceville, Fla.
She was born in Effingham County, Ga., on July 4, 1914, to Edward W. Walker and Marie Farmer, and had lived in Savannah most of her life.
Mrs. Tompkins was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for many years and was loved by all who knew her. A real southern lady whose graciousness and hospitality was unmatched. Her memory will be cherished.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Tompkins; and daughters, Marjorie Wilder Thomas and Carlene Wilder Mett.
Survivors include her daughter and husband, Doris and Joe Glenn of Niceville; grandchildren, Dr. Mike Glenn and wife Micki, Greg Glenn and wife Debbie, and Erin Glenn; daughter and husband, Cecelia and Ronald Brett; grandchildren, Rhonda, Regina, Kim and Krista, Sherry and Tom Mett; brother and wife, Herschel and Laverne Walker. Also, several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 11, in the Greenwich Addition to Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Rocky Bayou Christian School, 2101 N. Partin Drive, Niceville, FL 32578. This gift will go to help children.
The family wishes to thank friends and loved ones for their prayers. A special thanks to Dr. Pat Tidwell who cared for her for several years.
