Otis V. Corbin
Mr. Otis V. Corbin, age 54, of Crestview, Fla., died at his residence on Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998. Mr. Corbin was born in Florala, Ala., on Jan. 11, 1944, to William and Ola Mae Coleman Corbin and had been a lifetime resident of the Northwest Florida area. Otis was a sheet metal mechanic. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and really enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Jean (Gainey) Corbin, of Crestview, Fla.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William and Tina Corbin, of Crestview, Fla., and James Corbin, of Niceville, Fla.; daughter, Vicky Corbin, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Joanne Corbin, of Milligan, Fla., two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dean and Louie Hall, of Gaston, S.C., and Gloria and Larry Butler, of Crestview, Fla.; grandchildren, Dakota, Taylor and Madison Corbin. Otis was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert, and a sister, Francis.
A time of visitation will be conducted from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at the Whitehurst Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998, from the chapel of Whitehurst Funeral Home with the Rev. Adrain Davis officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Live Oak Park Memorial Cemetery in Crestview, Fla.
Floral tributes will be accepted at the funeral home.

James F. Himes
James F. Himes, age 67, of Fort Walton Beach, died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, in the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. Mr. Himes was a retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant with over 20 years of active duty, including Korea and Vietnam. He was also retired from U.S. Civil Service at NAS Whiting Field with 20 years of service. Mr. Himes was born in Atlanta, Ga., was a Baptist by faith, and had resided in this area for the past 31 years.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Myla C. Himes, his sons, James F. Himes Jr., and his wife, Denise, all of Fort Walton Beach, and Patrick C. Himes, of Atlanta, Ga.; his daughters, Darlene Bir, of Boca Raton, Fla., and Cherie C. Himes, of Fort Walton Beach; his sister, Patsy Bailey, of Orangeburg, S.C.; and his grandson, Brandon James Himes.
There will be a celebration of life service at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at Little Chapel Funeral Home in Fort Walton Beach with Rev. Bill Reese officiating.

Olive Christina Rauschkolb
Olive "Olly" Christina Rauschkolb, 75, passed away Nov. 12, 1998, after an extended illness with her grandson by her side. Olly was born in Newark, N.J. on March 13, 1923 to Charles and Edith Heick.
She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a cryptographer and was very proud of her service. She went to work as an executive assistant for Standard Oil in New York City until her marriage.
She moved to this area in 1972 after traveling the world with her husband, U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Richard H. Rauschkolb. After settling in Fort Walton Beach, she was an active member of the Arts and Design Society and pursued her love of painting. She was a member of Destin United Methodist Church.
Olly was an inspiration to all who knew her. "Mighty Mouse," as she was known at Sunpointe Retirement Community in Sandestin, became ambassador of goodwill with her feisty, magnetic, loving and engaging personality. It was important to Olly to help and enrich the lives of those around her. Olly was a true friend and mentor to all.
Olly was preceded in death by her loving husband of 25 years, Richard H. Rauschkolb. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Dede and Darryl Shelton, of Fairbanks, Alaska, and her sons, David Alan Rauschkolb, of Old Seagrove Beach and Richard S. Rauschkolb and daughter-in-law Marilyn Rauschkolb, of Colorado Springs, Colo. She is also survived by her grandchildren Christopher and Aaron Papero, of Boise, Idaho, and Kristen Rauschkolb, of Hanover, Germany and sisters and brothers-in-law Ruth and William Oakley, of Fort Walton Beach and Edith and Frederick Krauss, of Bethlehem, Penn.
Services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 1 p.m. at Destin United Methodist Church, 200 Beach Drive, Destin. Interment will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery. A celebration of Olly's life will follow at the Sunpointe Retirement Community, Sandestin. In lieu of flowers, memoriams can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.

Tracy Virgil Henley
Tracy Virgil Henley, age 53, of Laurel Hill, Fla., passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, in Houston.
Mr. Henley was a native of Andalusia, Ala., but had resided in Laurel Hill for the past 32 years. He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church and Laurel Hill Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Henley was a contracting officer for the U.S. government in Riyadh, Saudia Arabia, and also a recipient of the Purple Heart, due to a terrorist attack in Saudia Arabia.
Mr. Henley is survived by his wife, Sandra Henley of Laurel Hill; son and daughter-in-law, Virgil Wayne and Stacy L. Henley of Laurel Hill; brothers, Charles Henley of Andalusia, Billy D. Henley of Wing, Ala., and Steven L. Henley of Crestview, Fla.; grandmother, Alma Holland of Wing; and grandchildren, Brett Stephen Henley and Jeremy Scott Henley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Whitehurst Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Tim Meadows and James Gomillion officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.

Vernon E. Ard
Vernon E. Ard, age 67, died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at Fort Walton Medical Center in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
He was born on June 13, 1931, in Lillian, Ala., the son of Emmuel and Pearl (Younce) Ard. Vern was married to Patricia Musker for 32 years, she preceded him in death on Oct. 31, 1994. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, served during the Korean and Vietnam War, retiring in 1968 after 20 years of service.
Vern was employed at McDermott Wholesale Plumbing and Heating for over 20 years, and most recently at Fort Walton Beach Leisure Time Services. Vernon was an avid racing fan, and loved spending time with his five grandsons.
He is survived by his sons, Daniel E. Ard of Fort Walton Beach, Mark (Sue) Nardini of Janesville, Wisc., and Daniel (Jackie) Nardini of Lake Mills, Wisc.; grandchildren, Matthew, Paul and Tommy Nardini, Daniel and Matthew Leani; and sister, Audrey (Walter) Cummings of Foley, Ala. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 323 Van Buren St., Stoughton, Wisc., at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, with Father Gerard Healy presiding. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Madison, Wisc. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Frank D. Stephenson
Frank D. Stephenson, age 63, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away in a local hospital Monday, Nov. 16, 1998.
He was born on Sept. 29, 1935, in Nashville, Tenn., and had resided in this area for the past 14 years, moving here from Massachusetts. He was Catholic by faith. He honorably served his country for 20 years and later retired from the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary, of 35 years; mother, Hazel Stephenson; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Rachel of Valparaiso, Fla.; daughters and son-in-law, April and Timothy of Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., and Michelle Stephenson of Lubbock, Texas; two brothers; two sisters; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at Little Chapel Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, Nov. 20, at 1:15 p.m. in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla., with a military chaplain officiating and full military honors by the U.S. Navy.

Glenwood Allsbrook
Glenwood Allsbrook, age 70, Crestview, Fla., died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998, in his home.
He was born in Enfield, N.C., on June 29, 1928, to Donald and Julia Allsbrook. Glenwood had been living in this area since 1978, coming from Tarboro, N.C. He was a member of the Non-commissioned Officers' Association.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Allsbrook, of Crestview; sons, Michael G. Allsbrook of Albuquerque, N.M., Richard D. Allsbrook of Denver, and Steven D. Allsbrook of Moore, Okla.; daughter, Mary C. Mercer of Westminster, Colo.; sister, Jeannie Lassiter of Fayetteville, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at McLaughlin-Aultman Funeral Home in Crestview.
A funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19. Interment will be in Live Oak Memorial Park Cemetery in Crestview with full military honors.

Rosalin Kirklin Hattaway
"Truly I say unto you, today you shall be with me in Paradise," (Luke 23:43).
Rosalin Kirklin Hattaway, our beloved mother, joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the evening of Nov. 16, 1998.
With profound sadness at her departure and great joy in her release to freedom, our deepest love and respect will be with her always. Born to Marion and Alma Kirklin on March 10, 1920, Mrs. Hattaway had resided in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., for the past 38 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, William Berrien Hattaway III; son, William Berrien Hattaway IV; son, Gary Kirklin Hattaway; and sister, Elva Kirklin Prestwood.
Mrs. Hattaway was a dedicated third grade teacher in Okaloosa County for 16 years. She derived much pleasure and fulfillment from the work she did with children, and viewed her work as an opportunity to touch the future. She fostered a love of learning in her own children as well as her many students.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Billy Jackson; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Rod Ferguson; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Teresa and Steve Coleman, all of Fort Walton Beach; grandson, Jeff Jackson of Fort Stewart, Ga.; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Terry and Jennifer Jackson; and great-grandchildren, Robbie, Stephanie, Stevie, Justin, Tyler and Lauren.
A time of visitation will be conducted from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Emerald Coast Funeral Home.
A celebration of her eternal life will occur at the graveside at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, in Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge, Ala., with the Rev. Don Armagost and Mr. John Kinney officiating.

Culbert E. Bearden
Culbert E. "Gene" Bearden, age 65, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Tuesday morning, Nov. 17, 1998, in a local hospital.
He was born on July 30, 1933, in Shelby County, Ala. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force. As an Air Force retiree, the Beardens chose Fort Walton Beach as their home. A few years later he suffered a stroke, which they accepted as one more challenge and turned their attention to working with others.
Mr. Bearden was preceded in death by his parents, Culbert and Marylene Bearden; his sister, Laura Dobbs; and his beloved wife, Sarah (Pletcher) Bearden. He is survived by one brother, Ray Bearden of Hueytown, Ala.; daughters, Melody (Peter) Ritchie of Largo, Fla., Melissa (Kevin) Reeves of Shalimar, Fla., and Melinda (Michael) Wight of Fort Walton Beach; grandchildren, Brice Brethauer, U.S. Navy, Bryna Brethauer of St. Petersburg, Fla., Peter Ritchie and Kelie Ritchie of Largo, Fla., Kory Reeves and Kody Reeves of Shalimar, Fla., and Marshall Wight and Mallory Wight of Fort Walton Beach.
Having grown up in and around Prattville, Ala., Gene leaves cousins, friends and relatives to mourn his death.

Julian C. Crissman
Julian C. Crissman, age 98, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Tuesday evening, Nov. 17, 1998, in a local hospital.
Mr. Crissman was born on Oct. 5, 1900, in Durham, N.C. He retired from GTE in Durham 35 years ago and moved to Fort Walton Beach about 10 years ago.
Mr. Crissman was preceded in death by his wife, Anne C. Crissman; and his son, Julian C. Crissman Jr. He is survived by his son, William A. Crissman and wife JoAnn of Fort Walton Beach; daughter, Jean Shipman and husband Jack of Charlotte, N.C.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held later in Maplewood Cemetery in Durham with Howerton-Bryan Funeral Home, 1005 W. Main St., Durham, NC 27701, in charge of arrangements.
