Edwin J. Britt
Edwin J. Britt, age 86, of Niceville, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Britt was born in Pittsburgh on Oct. 7, 1912, to John and Wanda Laskowski.
He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Niceville and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a Merchant Marine.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his loving wife, Josephine Britt, of Niceville, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Peter Austermann, of Niceville, Fla.; son, Edward Laskowski, of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Pauline Laskowski, of Jasper, Ga.; granddaughter, Jennifer L. Austermann, of Niceville, Fla.; grandson, Anthony E. Austermann, of Niceville, Fla., and great-granddaughter, Corey Austermann.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998, at Heritage Gardens in Niceville, Fla. with Rev. Father Dominic Phan Sa officiating.
McLaughlin Twin Cities F.H., 1405 John Sims Parkway, Niceville, Fla., is entrusted with the arrangements.
James Harold Schmeisser
James Harold Schmeisser, age 59, of Navarre, Fla., died Dec. 9, 1998, in a Pensacola, Fla., hospital. Born in Shawno, Wisc., he moved to the area fifteen years ago. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 28 years. His last duty station was Eglin Air Force Base. James is a life-long member of both VFW Post 11367 and the Air Force Association.
He is preceded in death by a son, Robert Schmeisser.
Survivors include his wife Mary F. Schmeisser; sons Robert Johnson, Greg Johnson and Charles Greene; daughters Lori Ladouceur, Mary Schmeisser, Jennifer Conway and Penny Johnson; a brother Donald Schmeisser; a sister Carol Shayani and ten grandchildren.
Memoralization will be by cremation. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Julia S. Rickenbach
Julia S. "Julie" Rickenbach, age 69, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away in a local hospital Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998.
She was born on Sept. 11, 1929, in Oneouta, N.Y., and had been a resident of the local area for the past 30 years when she moved here from Bermuda. She was Presbyterian by faith and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Walton Beach. Mrs. Rickenbach was also a member of the Sertoma Club and the church choir; she was an auxiliary member of the American Legion. Friends would best remember "Julie" as the office manager of the Magnolia Medical Clinic.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. "Rick" Rickenbach. Survivors include her former husband, James Kemp Sr. of Lady Lake, Fla.; son, James Kemp Jr. and wife Gail Marie of Lady Lake; daughter, Andrea H. and husband Michael Reeves of Fort Walton Beach; brothers, Alex Sarantos of Rhode Island; sisters, Helen Stewart of Pennsylvania and Olympia Marnoc, also of Pennsylvania; and two grandchildren, Amanda and Cody Reeves.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Walton Beach.
The family will receive friends at the church from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla., at 2 p.m. Dr. Jack Walchenbach will officiate at the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to First Presbyterian Church, 134 S.W. Beal Pkwy., Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548, in memory of Julie Rickenbach.

Hugh Leslie Maynard
Hugh Leslie Maynard, age 78, of Destin, Fla., passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, as a result of an automobile accident.
Mr. Maynard was born on July 30, 1920, in Nova Scotia, Canada, to the late George Leslie and Gladys Maynard. He retired as a sheet metal worker in 1978 and moved to Destin in September 1997. He was a member of Christ Community Church in Zion, Ill., since he was five years old and attended First Presbyterian Church in Destin. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 865 in Zion.
Mr. Maynard is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Maynard of Destin; daughter, Jill Peterson and husband Mark of Roswell, Ga.; son, Jeff Maynard and wife Nancy of Powder Springs, Ga.; his 10 siblings; and five grandchildren, Allison Maynard, Erin Maynard, Katie Maynard, Brent Peterson and Kent Peterson.
A memorial service will be held in Zion at a later date.

Ellen E. Davis
Ellen E. Davis, age 92, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, in a local nursing facility.
Born in Florala, Ala., on Aug. 28, 1906, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Fannie Cox Lancaster. Mrs. Davis had resided in DeFuniak Springs, Fla., for the past 61 years. She was a member of DeFuniak Springs First Baptist Church and had been employed by the Board of Public Instruction for Walton County school systems from 1944 until her retirement in 1975. From 1937 until 1944 she worked for the Sheriff's Office, Tax Assessors Office, and Clerk of the Circuit Courts office.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Clayton Davis, who passed away in 1980. They were married for 43 years. One brother, George Lancaster; and one sister, Frances Stafford.
Mrs. Davis is survived by three sisters, Ilean McDonald of Florala, Maude Lewis of Brook Haven, Miss., and Myrtle Busby of Alexandra, La., formerly of Philadelphia, Miss.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Comander Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Danny Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be John Chisum, Chad Lancaster, George Lancaster, Todd Lancaster, Joe Land and Robert Moseley.

Willie Pearl Walsh
Willie Pearl Walsh, age 75, of Niceville, Fla., passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 13, 1998, at her residence.
Mrs. Walsh was born in Mossy Head, Fla., on Aug. 8, 1923, to the late Carl Raymond and Jane Grace. She was a lifelong resident of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Niceville. She was formerly employed by Doris Restaurant in Niceville and was Baptist by faith.
Mrs. Walsh was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Grace, and her sister, Ruby Hamilton. She is survived by her son, Jessie B. Leavins and wife Joanne of Paxton, Fla.; son, Robert Leavins and wife Cheryl of Choctaw Beach, Fla.; son, David Leavins and wife Peggy of Fort Walton Beach; son, Larry Leavins and wife Lisa of Choctaw Beach, son, Michael Leavins of Niceville; daughter, Joann Brown and husband James of Vernon, Ala.; daughter, Virginia Keeling and husband Richard of Houston; daughter, Linda Rogers and husband Donnie of Crestview, Fla.; brother, Jake T. Grace and wife Cora Lee of Niceville; former husband and best friend, Leo Walsh of Valparaiso, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Mrs. Walsh will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Skipper officiating. Interment will follow in Heritage Gardens, Niceville.

Robert W. Warnick
Robert W. Warnick, age 67, of Crestview, Fla., died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at North Okaloosa Medical Center in Crestview.
Mr. Warnick was born in Renova, Pa., on Aug. 21, 1931, to Charles and Helen Walsh Warnick and had been a resident of the Northwest Florida area since 1951. He was retired from the United States Postal Service and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean era. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and brother. Mr. Warnick will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Adams Warnick; sons and daughters-in-law, Buddy and Shelby Stewart and Miles and Joan Stewart, all of Crestview; daughter and son-in-law, Wylene and Cotton Adkinson of Baker, Fla.; brother, Richard Warnick of San Antonio, Texas; sister-in-law, Pearl Warnick; special nephew, Patrick Warnick, both of Crestview. Mr. Warnick was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Warnick, earlier this year. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A time of visitation will be conducted at Whitehurst Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of Whitehurst Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, with the Rev. Ray Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Almarante Cemetery in Laurel Hill, Fla.

Donnie Mae Allman
Donnie Mae Allman, age 91, of Westwood Retirement Center, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.
Mrs. Allman was born in Winfield, Ala., and moved to this area from Guin, Ala., 21/2 years ago. She was a widowed homemaker and while living in Guin was a member of First United Methodist Church of Guin; United Methodist Women; and the Entre Nous Study Club. While living at Westwood she was active in many of the social activities there.
She is survived by her son, Dr. John M. Allman III and wife Carolyn of Shalimar, Fla.; brother, Greeley Byrd of Birmingham, Ala.; grandsons, Dr. Jeffrey W. Allman and wife Brigette of Dothan, Ala., and Kevin T. Allman of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and nieces, Varina Allman Franks of Guin and Dorothy Byrd of Birmingham.
The family will receive friends at Norwood Funeral Home, Highway 78 East in Guin on Thursday, Dec. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Jerry L. Dorch
Jerry L. Dorch, age 55, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at his residence in DeFuniak Springs, Fla.
Mr. Dorch was born in Pensacola, Fla., on Nov. 28, 1943. He was the son of the late Ernest Lee and Vellar Holley Dorch. Coming from Pensacola, Mr. Dorch lived in the DeFuniak Springs area for the past 13 years. He as Pentecostal by faith.
Mr. Dorch was preceded in death by his brother, Orvel Lee Dorch; son, John Wayne Dorch; and daughter, Dorthy Mae Dorch.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Virginia D. Dorch of DeFuniak Springs; daughters, Vellar D. Murray and husband Fred of DeFuniak Springs, Blanche R. Queen of DeFuniak Springs, Jerrie Lynn Curry of Crestview, Fla., and Sherry M. Brisson and husband Paul of DeFuniak Springs; brother, Norvel Lee Dorch of Pensacola; sisters, Betty M. Robbins of Ellisville, Miss., and Ella R. Dorch of Milton, Fla.; and grandchildren, Tara Lynn Dorch, Joshua Lee Dorch, Shawn Michael Murray, Rebecca Jolene Queen, Robert James Curry, Liam Queen, Jade Brisson, Troyce Queen, Paul Michael Brisson and Kristina Lea Thompson.
