Read Henzler Welton
Read Henzler Welton, infant son of Mark and Molly Welton of Escambia Farms, Fla., passed away Saturday night.
On Feb. 6, 1999, we experienced the loss of our baby son, Read Henzler Welton. He was a beautiful little boy. God in his sovereign mercy had reason to take him home early. In life we face hardships and tragedies, and ofttimes we allow these hardships to become stumbling blocks, but only when we take our eyes off Christ.
As Read's father, I write this to say, that though it appears as a tragedy, God will use it to glorify Himself. That is our deepest desire. Though our hearts are truly broken, and the tears do flow easily, we are claiming the peace of knowing Christ as our Savior. While that doesn't take the pain away, it gives our son's death purpose. We ask our friends to join us in prayer that our son's life and death will have an impact for Christ our Lord.
Read is also survived by two sisters, Amy and Abby Welton; paternal grandparents, Don and Anne Welton of Escambia Farms; maternal grandparents, Read and Amy Smartt of Chesapeake, Va.; and numerous other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at First Baptist Church of Crestview with the Rev. Francis A. Picker Jr. officiating. A private burial will follow in Cotton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Read will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
