Catherine M. Naughton Henry, 75, of 744 Staymen Road, Front Royal, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Henry was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Somerville, Mass., the daughter of Henry T. and Florence Williamson Naughton. She was a baker at E. Wilson Morrison School, Front Royal, and retired in 1987.
She was a member of Marlowe Heights Baptist Church.
She married Kirby D. Henry on July 14, 1945, in Nash County, N.C. Mr. Henry died Nov. 13, 1997.
Surviving are two daughters, Catherine “Kitty” Blackwell of New York, N.Y., and Dorothy V. Tice of Front Royal; two sons, David T. Henry of Baltimore and Douglas P. Henry of Front Royal; five sisters, Henrietta Lucci of Plaistow, N.H., Margaret Freeman of Arlington, Mass., Florence Nugent of Boston, Mass., Dorothy Naughton of Somerville, and Virginia Naughton of New York; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, in Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium.

Hazel Mathias, 81, of HCR 83, Box 3, Baker, W.Va., died Friday, June 2, 2000, in Capon Manor Personal Care Home, Capon Bridge, W.Va.
Ms. Mathias was born Sept. 10, 1918, in Baker, the daughter of George Washington Mathias and Mary Belle Wilkins Mathias.
She was a member of Lost River United Methodist Church.
She was the last member of her immediate family.
A funeral was 2 p.m. Sunday in Lost River United Methodist Church, Lost River, W.Va., with the Rev. Jonathan L. Hedrick officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Lost River.

Margaret I. Tincher
Margaret Irene Tincher, 48, of 102 Vale Court, Winchester, died Monday, June 5, 2000, in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Tincher was born April 4, 1952, in St. Mary’s County, Md., the daughter of Earl and June Lorraine Keech Buckler.
She was a substitute teacher for Frederick County public schools for the past nine years.
She was a member of the Catholic faith.
She married David Orville Tincher on Aug. 8, 1990, in Clarke County.
Surviving with her husband, are a daughter, Charlene Frances Hillyer of Hamilton; three sisters, Virginia Cameron of Owens, Md., Irlene Altamose of New Hampshire, and Teresa Smoot of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and two brothers, Joseph Buckler of Mechanicsville, Md., and David Buckler of St. Mary’s County.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Omps Funeral Home, with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating.

June E. Taylor
June E. Taylor, 69, of Airport Road, Winchester, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Taylor was born May 25, 1931, in Browntown, the daughter of Frank and Laura Morrison Manuel. She was a custodian for Frederick County Schools and assistant manager of Rankin Hardware.
She was married to Charles W. Taylor Sr., who died May 19, 1979.
Surviving are two daughters, Penny Balling of Fairfax and Jeannie Taylor of Winchester; a son, Raymond Scott Taylor of Winchester; a sister, Claudine Strong of Mineral; three brothers, Maurice Manuel and Claude Manuel, both of Browntown, and Arthur Manuel of Shenandoah; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Terry L. Taylor.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Susan Buchanan officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charles Balling, Arthur Manuel, Claude Manuel, Chris Manuel, Carl Manuel, and Ronnie Farmer.

Marvin E. Frederick
Marvin E. Frederick, 66, of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Friday, June 2, 2000, in the VA Medical Center, Martinsburg.
Mr. Frederick was born Nov. 10, 1933, in Mifflinburg, Pa., the son of Mabel Feher Frederick and James Frederick. He was a retired truck driver for Bonded Carrier Trucking Co., where he worked for 15 years, and a substitute instructor for James Rumsey Technical Institute for the truck-driving school. He was a driver for Heart Beat tour bus company.
He served in the Air Force as a staff sergeant for the military police. He was a member of the Watsontown Masonic Lodge No. 401, AF&AM and was a member of AARP. He volunteered with the Big Brothers & Big Sisters organization for 27 years.
Surviving with his mother, of Watsontown, Pa., are his wife, Janey Cole Frederick; a daughter, Debra J. Thomas of Williamsport, Pa.; four sons, David A. Frederick, of Pennsdale, Pa., Kenneth L. Frederick of Pottsgrove, Pa., Thomas E. Frederick of Stephens City, and Roderick L. Frederick of Martinsburg; a brother, Richard Frederick of Watsontown; 21 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Andrew S. Frederick.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home, with the Rev. Everett Powell officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery with military honors by the Veterans Combined Honor Guard of Martinsburg.

Ernest C. Shriver
Ernest Creed Shriver, 65, of Front Royal, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, in Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal.
Mr. Shriver was born Aug. 19, 1934, in Flintstone, Md., the son of Charles and Pearl Brotemarkle Shriver. He was a graduate of Central Bible College, Springfield, Mo., and was employed by Trident Data Systems in Chantilly. He served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Bethel Assembly of God Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ida B. Shriver; two daughters, Melanie L. Claflin of Old Saybrook, Conn., and Donna F. Morgan of Winchester; two brothers, Vernon Shriver of Cumberland, Md., and Donald Shriver of Flintstone; and three grandsons.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bethel Assembly of God Church, with the Revs. Donald Bradley and David Forkey officiating. Burial will follow in Panorama Memorial Gardens.

Steven W. Derhammer
Steven William Derhammer, 18, of 185 Paw Paw Court, Winchester, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., as a result of a car accident.
Mr. Derhammer was born Aug. 14, 1981, in Winchester, the son of Thomas E. Derhammer and Karen L. Crites. He was a senior at James Wood High School.
Surviving with his father of Wooster, Ohio, and his mother of Daytona, Fla., are his step-father, Jim Crites of Daytona; a brother, David Derhammer of Brooksville, Fla.; his maternal grandparents, Don and Eloise Wilson of Brooksville; and his paternal grandmother, Pauline Derhammer of Wadsworth, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be private.

Norma Jean Geary, 63, of 118 Porter Way, Charles Town, W.Va., died Thursday, June 1, 2000, in Sweetwater Hospital, Sweetwater, Tenn.
Ms. Geary was born March 11, 1937, in Bakerton, W.Va., the daughter James Norman Geary and Helen Jones Geary. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church of Charles Town, the Moler’s CEOS Club at Moler’s Crossroads, Women of the Moose Chapter 1028 of Charles Town, and the Ladies Auxiliary of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aeire No. 1136 of Brunswick, Md.
Surviving are her mother of Charles Town; two sisters, Esther Y. Geary of Charles Town, and Dot Bartlett of Sweetwater; and a brother, William “Buck” Geary of Winchester.

William A. Hodson
William Allen Hodson, 56, of Charlottesville, died Friday, June 2, 2000, in Charlottesville.
Mr. Hodson was born May 30, 1944, in Winchester, the son of Harry C. Hodson Sr. and Lena Kline Hodson. He was a Navy veteran and worked as a painter with Spectrum Painting, Charlottesville.
Surviving are his former wife, Linda L. Hodson of Charlottesville; three daughters, Sandra Lillard of O’Fallon, Mo., Marilee Toms of Stuarts Draft, and Vera Hodson Stevens of Fishersville; a sister, Patricia Hull of Front Royal; a brother, Harry C. Hodson of Triangle; and six grandchildren.

Wade L. Kerns
Wade Leland Kerns, 51, of P.O. Box 193, Paw Paw, W.Va., died of cancer on Thursday, June 8, 2000, at the home of his parents.
Mr. Kerns was born April 4, 1949, in Morgan County, W.Va., the son of Roland Baker Kerns and Inez Betson Kerns. He worked for Kraft General Foods.
He was a former chief of Paw Paw Fire Company and was a member of Paw Paw Town Council from 1973 to 1977.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the National Rifle Association.
Surviving with his parents, of Paw Paw, are a son, Michael “Scott” Kerns of Paw Paw; a daughter, Melissa Villafuerte of Arcadia, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Erin Belford of Oldtown, Md.; a sister, Wilma Kerns Parrill of Cumberland, Md.; two brothers, Ronald Baker “Butch” Kerns and Jeffrey Scott Kerns, both of Paw Paw; and two grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, W.Va., with the Rev. Herman Goede officiating. Burial will be in Woodrow Cemetery, Paw Paw.

Elizabeth M. Bailey
Elizabeth Moore Bailey, 78, of Front Royal, formerly of Orange, died Friday, June 9, 2000, in Heritage Hall Health Care Center, Front Royal.
Mrs. Bailey was born Dec. 8, 1921, in Staunton, the daughter of Harrison L. and Mamie Ann Fisher Moore. She was adopted by her grandmother, Nannie B. Hall, and her uncle, John Hall.
She was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Orange.
Surviving are four daughters, Rae W. Tolley, Donna M. Teates, Linda K. Bowers, and Robin Gayle Kerns, all of Front Royal; two sons, Allen W. Morris of Green County and A. Wayne Sours of Stephens City; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A son, Jerry Oliver Bailey, is deceased.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, with the Rev. Reid Sowder officiating. Burial will be in Bennett’s Chapel Cemetery.

John Anthony McDermott, 49, of Route 2, Box 135E, Charles Town, W.Va., died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, in Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Mr. McDermott was born Dec. 10, 1950, in Bremerton, Wash., the son of John A. and Betty Peters McDermott. He was a water technician for Ogden Martin Systems.
He and his wife, Robin McDermott, were married Sept. 5, 1977, in Lake Tahoe, Nev.
Surviving with his wife, and his parents, of California, are two brothers, Mike McDermott of Campbell, Calif., and Don McDermott of Fremont, Calif.; and a sister, Virginia Davis of Concord, Calif.

Turner E. Luttrell, 86, of Stephens City, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Luttrell was born June 14, 1913, in Frederick County, the son of Eppa Lee and Laura Omps Luttrell. He was a farmer and construction worker for R.G. Buckley Construction Co. in White Post.
He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church at Reynolds Store.
Surviving are a son, Gary Turner Luttrell of Stephens City; a daughter, Darlene Kay Shull of Stephens City; two granddaughters; a great-grandson; and two great-great-granddaughters.

Lester C. “Dick” Unger, 76, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, in the VA Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Mr. Unger was born Dec. 30, 1923, in Morgan County, W.Va., the son of Hillary and Carrie L. Michael Unger. He was a farmer and had worked at Interwoven Mills and Vanguard Products.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
He was married to Betty Jean Fearnow for 53 years.
Surviving are three sons, Danny Unger, Bobby Unger, and Randy Unger, all of Berkeley Springs; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mary Loudie Tumblin, 76, of 3855 Snickersville Turnpike, Round Hill, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at her home.
Miss Tumblin was born Sept. 20, 1923, in Clarke County, the daughter of John T. and Loudonia Shull Tumblin. She was a caregiver for Charles and Virginia Parks, with whom she made her home for 53 years.
She was a member of Providence Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.

Lester Allen Ford Sr., 71, of Reston, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, in Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Leesburg.
Mr. Ford was born April 22, 1929, in Markham, the son of Roscoe C. and Mary B. Johnson Ford.
He was a member, trustee, and deacon of Third Zion Baptist Church.
He and his wife, Mary L. Ford, were married in 1951. Mrs. Ford died in 1990.
Surviving are two sons, Lester Allen Ford Jr. of Reston and Steven David Ford of Clinton, Md.; two daughters, Sheila Maria Ford of Herndon and Darlene Ford Griffin of Reston; a brother, Edsall Ford of Washington, D.C.; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Third Zion Baptist Church, Success, with the Rev. Charles E. Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery.

Ralph Raymond Wentzel, 76, of Front Royal, died Tuesday, May 30, 2000, in Fairfax INOVA Hospital.
Mr. Wentzel was born March 7, 1924, in Douglasville, Pa., the son of Charles Abraham and Ada Derr Wentzel.
He was a life member of the Front Royal Elks Lodge 2383.
He was married to Vida Arnold.
Surviving are two sisters, Gladys Spring of Helen, Ala., and Myrtle Kunkle of Pottstown, Pa.

William Ray Mathews Sr., 67, of White Post, died Monday, May 29, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Mathews was born June 9, 1932, in Bentonville, the son of William Oswald and Pauline Corbin Mathews. He worked as a charge hand in the staple department of the former Avtex Corp. in Front Royal.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was married to Jaunita Bell.
Surviving are two sons, William Ray Mathews Jr. and Rickey D. Williams, both of White Post; a daughter, Sharon White of Front Royal; five brothers, Billy Mathews of Cedarville, and Preston Mathews, Allen Mathews, Jerry Mathews, and Wayne Mathews, all of Bentonville; eight sisters, Connie Grim of Winchester, Louise Merry of Strasburg, Ann Jenkins and Linda Beahm, both of Front Royal, and Barbara Smelser, Joyce Kenney, Mary Stoneberger, and Martha Henry, all of Bentonville; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
