Delno C. Lantz Jr.
Delno Cole “Sonny” Lantz Jr., 68, of 216 S. South Eberly St., Strasburg, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at his home.

Mr. Lantz was born July 8, 1931, in Aurora, W.Va., the son of Delno Cole and Mary Virginia Orndorff Lantz. He was an oil burner technician and retired from Home Service and Supply in Rockville, Md. He was an auxiliary member of Fortsmouth Fire Department and a member of The Church at Waterlick. He was an umpire and coach of little league baseball and men and women’s softball.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda Sue Lantz; three daughters, Belinda S. Daniels and Brenda Wheeler, both of Salem, Ore., and Constance Putman of Strasburg; three sons, Delno C. Lantz III of Salem, Ore., and Mark Lantz and Kenneth Lantz, both of Strasburg; three sisters, Martha “Peggy” Smith, Janet Brooks Smith, and Lillie Mae “Lil” Ritenour, all of Strasburg; a brother, Leonard Allen “Bucky” Lantz of Strasburg; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Riverview Cemetery, with Pastor Larry Miller officiating.

Pallbearers will be Tim Fogle, Kevin Catlett, Raymond Pullen Jr., Rick Maiatico, Gerry Maiatico, and Tony Maiatico.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg.

Ray G. Mason
Ray Glenwood “Razor“ Mason, 36, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Sunday, April 23, 2000, in City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Mr. Mason was born June 15, 1963, in Berkeley Springs, the son of Glenwood Hamilton and Lelia Louise Miller Mason.

He was a woodworker with Seely Pine Furniture Co. in Berkeley Springs.

He was a member of Moose Lodge 1483 of Berkeley Springs.

He attended Berkeley Springs High School.

He was engaged to marry Wendy D. Sauer of Berkeley Springs.

Surviving with his parents, of Berkeley Springs, are a son, Jesse Ray Mason of Martinsburg; two stepdaughters, LaRanda Cross and LaShelle Cross, both of Georgia; two stepsons, Richard W. Sauer and Ryan K. Greene, both of Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Linda L. Snidemiller and Patsy J. Snow, both of Berkeley Springs; and two brothers, David E. Miller of Lancaster, Pa., and Randy L. Mason of Cross Junction.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oakland Methodist Church, Oakland, W.Va., with Pastor Lynnie Ambrose officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs.

Sharon H. Ramey
Sharon Hensley Ramey, 50, of Grottoes, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, in Harrisonburg.

Mrs. Ramey was born Dec. 31, 1949, in Winchester, the daughter of Leon M. and Lorraine Adams Hensley. She retired as a pharmacy technician at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

She attended the United Methodist Church and was a member of Moose Lodge 1194 in Front Royal and VFW Post 896 Auxiliary in Martinsburg, W.Va.

She was a graduate of John S. Mosby Academy in Front Royal.

Surviving with her parents, of Elkton, are a son, Bobby Shane Ramey of Elkton; a daughter, Rebecca Anne Burkholder of Penn Laird; a brother, Loring Hensley of Elkton; two sisters, Margaret Jenkins of Boyce and Bonnie Tucker of Elkton; and a granddaughter.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. today in Riding’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Stephens City, with Dr. Bill Wade officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Annie M. Rosenberger
Annie Mae Rosenberger, 82, of Long Hollow Road, Fort Valley, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, in Martha Jefferson Hospital, Charlottesville.

Mrs. Rosenberger was born Jan. 4, 1918, in Fort Valley, the daughter of Samuel and Minnie Plauger Dinges. She was a seamstress for many years at the former Ileen Factory.

She was married to Carlin E. Rosenberger.

Surviving are two daughters, Lorrain Fohnestock of Charlottesville and Mary Ellen Smeltzer of Winchester; a son, Douglas Rosenberger of Fort Valley; two sisters, Frances Helsley and Patricia Feathers of Strasburg; two brothers, Harold Dinges of Fort Valley and Robert Dinges of Woodstock; two grandchildren;and a great-grandchild.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Valley Funeral Chapel, Bowmans Crossing, with the Rev. George Reed officiating. Burial will be in Detrick Cemetery, Fort Valley.

Pallbearers will be John Boobas, Stanley Miller, Grayson Funk, Elmer Mantz, Bill Mantz, and Eugene Tewalt.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral chapel.

Lorraine E. Wedlock
Lorraine E. Wedlock, 71, of 626 White Post Road, White Post, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. Wedlock was born Aug. 13, 1928, in Clarke County, the daughter of George and Elizabeth Davenport Peyton.

She was a member of the Glorious Church of God in Christ in Stephens City.

She was married to Harry Douglas Wedlock Jr., who died Aug. 3, 1999.

Surviving are two sons, the Rev. David P. Wedlock of Fayetteville, N.C., and 1st Sgt. Daniel E. Wedlock of Camp Lejeune, N.C.; three daughters, Diane Peggy Berger of Stephens City, Doris Reid of Winchester, and Darlene Wedlock of White Post; three brothers, Lee Roberts of Sacramento, Calif., Walter Roberts of New York City, and Walter Peyton of San Antonio; two sisters, Ruth Washington of Winchester, and Lucy Christian of Stephens City; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville, with Elder Percy Pollard officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Hill Cemetery, White Post.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Morton, Joseph Roberts, John Morton Jr., Houston Wedlock, Kevin Christian, and Frazier Tigney.

Dale A. Richman Sr.
Dale A. Richman Sr., 45, of 1612 Perry Road, Winchester, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at his home.

Mr. Richman was born Dec. 8, 1954, in Winchester, the son of Glen O. and Wynnona J. Ruckman Richman. He was a truck driver for Dave and Trucking Inc. and a 1972 graduate of James Wood High School.

He married Laurie DeHaven on Aug. 19, 1984, in Winchester.

Surviving with his wife and parents are three sons, Dale Arnold Richman Jr., Rusty Garland Richman, and Bryan Derrick Grim, all of Winchester; two daughters, Dawn Marie Richman and Lindsay Grim Cowgill, both of Winchester; two brothers, Dennis Richman and Darren Richman, both of Winchester; a sister, Beverley Clark of Winchester; and four grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home with the Rev. Calvin Lowder officiating. Burial will be in Tearcoat Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Augusta, W.Va.

Pallbearers will be Dale A. Richman Jr., Rusty G. Richman, Bryan D. Grim, Randall “Tobie” Allanson, Michael Testerman, and Berlie W. Thompson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Joyce L. Kirkland
Joyce Lindsay Crawford Kirkland, 76, formerly of Winchester, died Friday, April 21, 2000, in Oak Lee Nursing Home, Harrisonburg.

Mrs. Kirkland was born May 1, 1923, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Charles B. Crawford and Joyce Ince Baker Crawford.

She was educated at Chatham Hall and Shenandoah University and served as a secretary for the military in Washington, D.C., for Bishop Angus Dunn of the Episcopal Church, and the AAUP. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Battered Wives.

Mrs. Kirkland was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Winchester.

She married Charles Henry Kirkland on Feb. 26, 1966. Mr. Kirkland died on Nov. 18, 1985.

Surviving are a sister, Susan Anderson of Polruan-By-Fowey, Cornwall, England, and three step-children, Richard Kirkland of Staunton and Howard Kirkland and Ray Victor, both of Lynchburg.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Episcopal Church, Winchester, with the Rev. Douglas McCaleb officiating.

Lindsey Funeral Home, Harrisonburg, is handling arrangements.

James M. Secrist
James Monroe Secrist, 71, of 196 Dixie Lane, Lebanon Church, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, in Shenandoah Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Secrist was born July 29, 1928, in Deerwood, Md., the son of Ronson and Ollie Fink Secrist.

He retired from the Navy after 20 years of service as chief petty officer, was a member of Local No. 1548 Millrights for 25 years, and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia “Dixie” Martin Secrist; a son, Steven Secrist of, Front Royal; a daughter, Carolyn Secrist of Front Royal; three step-daughters, Sandra Helsley and Nancy C. Keeler, both of Strasburg and Patty Nethercutt of Alexandria; five step-sons, Roy Menafee and Jimmy Menafee, both of Front Royal, Ronnie K. Steele of Harrisonburg, Raymond D. Steele of Middletown, and James C. Steele of Lebanon Church; a brother, Ray Secrist of Front Royal; five sisters; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, with the Rev. David R. Brosnan officiating. Burial will be in Panorama Memorial Gardens, Warren County, with military honors by Shenandoah American Legion Post No. 77.

Pallbearers will be James C. Steele, Raymond D. Steele, Ronnie K. Steele, Mike Vaillancourt, Brian Keeler, and Ron Nethercutt.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and will meet there at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Lenora J. Robinson
Lenora Jacqueline Hess Robinson, 63, of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Friday, April 21, 2000, at her daughter’s home.

Mrs. Robinson was born Jan. 3, 1937, in Martinsburg, W.Va., the daughter of Devonna Mac Boltz and Gilbert McCormack Hess.

She was a graduate of Hedgesville High School and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Surviving with her mother and husband, John Raymond Robinson Sr., are a son, John Raymond Robinson Jr., of Martinsburg; three daughters, Jacqueline Renee Custer of Winchester, Sandra Alane Munson of Salley, S.C., and Sharon Elaine Munson of Martinsburg; a brother, Olin Hess of Martinsburg; five sisters, Pauline Adams, of Ranson, W.Va., Helen Sakeman of Halltown W.Va., Susie Hess and Beatrice Sine, both of Baker Heights, W.Va., and Peggy Jones of Martinsburg; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Martinsburg, with Bishop James K. Fugate officiating. Burial will be in Hedgesville Cemetery.

The casket will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.

Enola M. Smith
Enola Martin Smith, 93, of Romney, W.Va., formerly of Pleasant Dale, W.Va., died Friday, April 21, 2000, in Hampshire Long Term Care, Romney.

Mrs. Smith was born June 2, 1906, in North River Mills, W.Va., the daughter of Rumsey and Lillie Haines Martin. She was a charter member of the Pleasant Dale Farm Woman’s Club and a member of Romney Presbyterian Church.

She was married to Paul Pepper Smith.

Surviving are two daughters, Gloria Johnston of Augusta, W.Va., and Bonnie Long of Romney; a son, Larry Paul Smith of Oakland, Md.; three sisters, O’Nile Sencindiver and Eulala Grapes, both of Romney, and Kathleen Tabb; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at a later date in Malick Cemetery with Dr. John Franklin officiating.

Genevieve L. Berger
Genevieve Lucille Berger, 68, of 9 West Hart St., Winchester, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. Berger was born Aug. 7, 1931, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Esther Berger Gaither.

She was a member of the Jolly Poodles Club, John Mann United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of Maggie Farrar Desmond Temple 760, and the Rainbow Council of Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia.

Surviving are a son, Charles Richard Berger of Stephens City; two brothers, William Washington Jr. and David Washington, both of Washington, D.C; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at John Mann United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lorenzo Hill Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Stephens City.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Cartwright Funeral Home.

Rayburn Hickerson
Rayburn Hickerson, 73, of Front Royal, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at his home.

Mr. Hickerson was born May 5, 1926, in Warren County, the son of Charles Douglas and Lonie Jane Sealock Hickerson.

His second wife, Joann Truax, is deceased.

Surviving with his third wife, Evelyn Wines Hickerson, are a son and two daughters, by his first marriage; and two stepsons by his second marriage.

A private graveside service will be at a later date in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Front Royal.

Laura H. Richard
Laura H. Richard, 84, of 238 Pifer Road, Star Tannery, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. Richard was born Sept. 23, 1915, in Frederick County, the daughter of Romulus and Elta Plum Hodgson.

She was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Friendly Grove Community Association, and Frederick County Homemakers Club.

She married Paul William Richard on Feb. 13, 1935, in Winchester.

Surviving with her husband, are two sons, Paul Edward Richard and Harry Lee Richard, both of Frederick County; four daughters, Mary Gay Richard of Martinsburg, W.Va., Betty Jean Stickley of Harrisonburg, Annie Elizabeth McKeever of Wardensville, W.Va., and Linda R. Belt of Frederick County; a sister, Lula Lewis of Frederick County; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Omps Funeral Home, with David A. Owings and the Rev. Bill Erbach officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain Falls.

Pallbearers will be Kirby Lloyd, Ralph Lowery, Roger Hulver, Lynn Hogan, Jeff Green, and Larry Bennington.

Thomas J. Gavura II
Thomas John “T.J.” Gavura II, 28, of Winchester, formerly of Airmont, died recently.

Mr. Gavura was born March 31, 1972, in Leesburg, the son of Thomas and Diane Gavura.

He was an emergency medical technician with Loudoun County Rescue Squad, Company 13.

He served in the Air Force Honor Guard.

Surviving with his parents, of Florida, are two brothers, Paul Edward Gavura of Leesburg and David Francis Madden of Bealton.

A funeral was Thursday at Hall Funeral Home, Purcellville. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery, Round Hill.

Memorials may be made to Loudoun County Rescue Squad, Company 13.

Louis A. DeHon
Louis August DeHon, 86, of Arlington, died Friday, April 21, 2000, in Evergreen Health and Rehab Center.

Mr. DeHon was born July 8, 1913, in Klotzville, La., the son of Eva Blanchard and Louis A. DeHon. He was an instrument inspector with United Airlines and had retired.

Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Evelyn L. DeHon.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday Prospect Hill Cemetery, Front Royal.

Agnes L. Turner
Agnes Longerbeam Turner, 63, of 3 Winding Way, Lititz, Pa., formerly of Clarke County, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster, Pa.

Mrs. Turner was born July 23, 1936, in Clarke County, the daughter of Hunter Randolph and Audrey McDonald Longerbeam. She retired in 1999 from Fulton Bank in Lancaster and had worked at Doubleday in Berryville for more than 20 years.

She was a member of Berryville Baptist Church.

She was married to Raymond F. Turner.

Surviving with her husband, are four sisters, Sally Lloyd, Marie Longerbeam, Iva Longerbeam, and Janie Longerbeam, all of Berryville; and five stepchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville, with Dr. William E. Ingram officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Singhas, Scott Lloyd, Danny Lloyd, Jay Longerbeam, and Billy Copp.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville.

Eloise S. Wright
Eloise Smith Wright, 87, of Front Royal, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Lynn Care Center, Front Royal.

Mrs. Wright was born Dec. 4, 1912, in Keyser, W.Va., the daughter of Willis E. and Catherine Plummer Smith.

She married William R. Wright on Nov. 4, 1928.

Surviving with her husband, are two sons, Robert E. Wright of Front Royal and Maurice Wright of Wyncote, Pa.; two daughters, Laura W. Morris of Toccoa, Ga., and Ruth Ann Jones of Kissimmee, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Panorama Memorial Gardens, Waterlick, with the Rev. Mitch Emswiller officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, Front Royal.
