Kenneth J. Sikora
Kenneth John “Ken” Sikora, 73, of 1015 Lakeview Drive, Cross Junction, died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Sikora was born Aug. 16, 1926, in Duquesne, Pa., the son of John and Josephine Obersky Sikora. He was an engineer and retired in 1971 from J&L Steel Corp. He worked for the Bureau of Mines from 1948 to 1953 and for B&W Co. from 1953 to 1961.
He owned and operated a restaurant in Munhall, Pa., in 1971. He earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II with the rank of fireman second class. He received the European Theatre Ribbon, the American Theatre Ribbon, and the Victory Medal.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
He married Marcella Teresa Schuchert on Sept. 14, 1948, in West Mifflin, Pa.
Surviving with his wife, are two daughters, Darlene T. Kimmel of Cross Junction and Denise M. Henderson of Monroeville, Pa.; and six grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m Thursday in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, where a rosary service will be at 8 p.m.

Pamela G. Hovermale
Pamela Grubbs Hovermale, 49, of 9116 John Mosby Highway, Boyce, died Monday, April 3, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Hovermale was born Oct. 21, 1950, in Winchester, the daughter of James William “Bill” and Shirley Waugh Grubbs. She was a teacher at Sherando High School and chairman of the Social Studies Department. She had taught in the Frederick County schools for 28 years.
She was a 1971 graduate of Shepherd College.
She was a member of Boyce United Methodist Church, the Virginia Education Association, and the Frederick County Education Association.
Surviving with her parents are a daughter, Laura A. Hovermale of Boyce; and two brothers, William D. Grubbs of Boyce and P. Dean Grubbs of Winchester.
A funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville, with the Rev. John Lock officiating.

Patricia M. Anderson
Patricia “Trisha” McMorrow Anderson, of Herndon, died Sunday, April 2, 2000, in Hospice of Northern Virginia.
Mrs. Anderson was born July 7, 1954, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Horace Mallow McMorrow and Victoria Ambrose McMorrow.
She had worked in customer service for a courier business.
She was married to Gregory P. Anderson.
Surviving with her husband, are a son, Benjamin Patrick Anderson of Herndon; a daughter, Elisabeth Marie Anderson of Herndon; her mother of Alexandria; her father of Oviedo, Fla.; and a sister, Linda M. Taylor of Winchester.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Herndon. Burial will be in Fairfax Memorial Park.

Rosie H. Kipps
Rosie Hannah Miller Kipps, 71, of Bunker Hill, W.Va., died Monday, April 3, 2000, in Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
Mrs. Kipps was born Nov. 23, 1928, in Gore, the daughter of Scott Lewis and Nannie Sine Miller.
She was married to Lester W. Kipps for more than 54 years.
Surviving are four daughters, Patsy Issette of Brunswick, Md., Barbara Stolz of Charles Town, W.Va., Carol Settle of Frederick, Md., and Edith Hough of Bakerton, W.Va.; three sons, Larry W. Kipps of Bunker Hill, David L. Kipps of Frederick, and Danny A. Kipps of Taneytown, Md.; a brother, Godfrey Miller of Taneytown; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A son, Lester L. Kipps, and a daughter, Joann Kipps, are deceased.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, with the Rev. John Divico officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Lutheran Cemetery, Bolivar, W.Va.

Darrell A. Seastream
Darrell Althea Seastream, 90, of Capon Bridge, W.Va., died Sunday, April 2, 2000, in Hampshire Health Care Center, Romney, W.Va.
Mrs. Seastream was born Feb. 14, 1910, in Keansburg, N.J., the daughter of William and Minnie Jones Hoff. She was a secretary at Marymount College and had worked at the American Institution for Research in Washington, D.C.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Bayonne, N.J., and the Eastern Star, Chapter 24, of Rutherford, N.J.
She was married to Ray P. Seastream, who died May 17, 1990.
Surviving are a son, Ray P. Seastream of Long Valley, N.J.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A son, Richard J. Seastream, is deceased.

Pauline Whitacre “Polly” Sine, 72, of Gerrardstown, W.Va., died Sunday, April 2, 2000, in City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Mrs. Sine was born Nov. 11, 1928, in Hampshire County, W.Va., the daughter of Osa and Goldie Arnold Whitacre.
Surviving are four sons, Wilbur L. “Sonny” Whitacre and Brian M. Sine, both of Martinsburg, Blake L. Whitacre of Gerrardstown, and David E. Sine of Fredericksburg; three daughters, Judy Elliott of Capon Bridge, W.Va., Kathy Householder of Fredericksburg, Carolyn “Janie” Webster of Hancock, Md.; a brother, Julian Whitacre of Rio, W.Va.; three sisters, Irene Chilcott of Levels, W.Va., and Marianne Arnott of Burlington, W.Va. and Margie Golden of Thornville, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

J. Scott Allen, 37, of Romney, W.Va., died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Allen was born July 4, 1962, in Romney, W.Va., the son of Bob and Nancy Warren Allen.
Surviving with his parents, of Romney, are his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Clark of Huntington, W.Va., and his paternal grandmother, Sally Allen of Romney.

Russell G. Grant
Russell Gypson Grant, 74, of 44 Ruth Court, Strasburg, died Sunday, April 2, 2000, in Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Woodstock.
Mr. Grant was born June 7, 1925, in Strasburg, the son of Gypson R. and Mary Stoneburner Grant. He was self-employed and had retired.
He was a Navy veteran.
He was a member of Strasburg Christian Church, Shenandoah American Legion Post 199, Woodstock, Strasburg Moose Lodge 403, and the Shenandoah Region Antique Car Club of America.
He was a former member of Strasburg Lions Club and Strasburg Jaycees. He was an honorary member of the FFA.
He was married to Nancy Racey.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Gary A. Grant and Kevin L. Grant, both of Strasburg; a brother, Donald S. Grant of Strasburg; two sisters, Rebecca G. Craun of Strasburg, Nancy G. Boger of Front Royal; and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Riverview Cemetery, Strasburg, with the Rev. Wayne McCauley officiating.

LaVerne A. Riddle
LaVerne Anne Godlove Riddle, 38, of 22 Emery St., Harrisonburg, died Sunday, April 2, 2000, in Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg.
Mrs. Riddle was born April 28, 1961, in Harrisonburg, the daughter of Dorman L. and Juanita Seldon Godlove.
She was a pediatric, medical, and surgical clerk at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of Heishman Chapel United Methodist Church, Baker, W.Va., and a 1979 graduate of Mathias (W.Va.) High School.
She married James E. Riddle on May 26, 1990, in Mathias.
Surviving with her husband and her parents, of Baker, W.Va., are two sisters, Teresa Godlove Halterman and Denise Godlove Fansler, both of Mathias, a brother, D.L. Godlove Jr. of Baker, W.Va., and her maternal grandfather, J.H. Seldon of Mathias.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, W.Va., with the Rev. Jonathan Hedrick and minister Larry Wilkins officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Lost City.

Calvin C. Coffelt
Calvin C. Coffelt, 76, of Warbler Drive, Stephens City, died Sunday, April 2, 2000, in a local nursing home.
Mr. Coffelt was born Feb. 6, 1924, in Winchester, the son of Milton and Mary Poke Coffelt. He was retired from Abex. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War and served in the National Guard.
He married Viola Orndorff on Dec. 25, 1959, in Winchester. Mrs. Coffelt died Dec. 18, 1991.
Surviving with his mother, of Winchester, are a daughter, Katherine Snyder of Stephens City; two sisters, Catherine Miller and Elsie Lee Cornwell, both of Winchester; and a grandchild.
A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Shenandoah Memorial Park, with the Rev. Anthony A. Wadsworth officiating. Military honors will be accorded by VFW Post 2123.

Douglas G. Erbacher
Douglas Gary Erbacher, 57, of Wardensville, W.Va., formerly of Burlington, W.Va., died Thursday, March 30, 2000, at Rose Hill Nursing Home, Berryville.
Mr. Erbacher was born Dec. 24, 1942, in Ashtabula County, Ohio, the son of Edna B. Erbacher. He was a retired carpenter and dog breeder and had taught at Huttinsville Prison, Huttinsville, W.Va.
Surviving is a nephew, Peter E. Handy of Wardensville.
Services will be private and are being handled by Loy-Giffin Funeral Home, Wardensville.
George A. Nethers
George Ashby “Chunk” Nethers, 85, of Front Royal, died Friday, March 31, 2000, in Warren Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Nethers was born July 22, 1914, the son of James Robert and Christie Ellen Hawkins Nethers. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Front Royal, where he was a deacon and past president of the Men’s Bible Class, a charter member of the Izaak Walton League, past master and an honorary member of Unity Lodge No. 146 AF&AM of Front Royal, past high priest of Hiram Royal Arch Chapter No. 45, a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Alexandria - 32nd degree, a member of the Acca Temple Shrine of Richmond, a member of the Blue Ridge Shrine Club and Blue Ridge Arson Squad, past worthy patron of Front Royal Chapter No. 6, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Shenandoah Arts Council of Winchester. He worked with the Shenandoah Agency on Aging and was a member of AARP, the Warren Heritage Society, and Retirees Club ACTWV 371T.
He began work for American Viscose in 1938 and retired after 41 years when the company was named Avtex Fibers.
Surviving are his wife, Theresa Carroll Nethers; two sons, Robert C. Nethers of Hurst, Texas, and James W. “Bill” Nethers of Stephens City; a daughter, Betty Sue N. Howard of Front Royal; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Mark Jordan officiating, assisted by Rev. John Oliver. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Richard Boies, Amos Hall, Lawrence Shiflett, Alan Wimer, Winston Lutz, Kelly Good and Joe McDaniel.

Colleen Ware Dyke, 69, of 2947 Millwood Ave., Winchester, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, in Memorial Regional Medical Center, Richmond.
Mrs. Dyke was born Jan. 2, 1931, in Winchester, the daughter of Everett Oscar and Orpha Mayville Renner Ware. She retired as an assembly line worker for Capitol Records, Winchester.
She was married to Herman Ashby Dyke, who died Nov. 3, 1964.
Surviving are a daughter, Cynthia Ann Wright, of Mechanicsville; a son, Herman Ashby Dyke Jr., of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; and five grandchildren.

Emmett D. Feaster
Emmett D. Feaster, 92, of Petersburg, W.Va., died Friday, March 31, 2000, at Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas, W.Va.
Mr. Feaster was born July 2, 1907, in Lanesville, W.Va., the son of Cecil H. and Sylvia Lenore Rexrode Feaster. He worked for the West Virginia Department of Highways and the Petersburg Tannery and retired as a custodian with the Fairfax County Public Schools.
He was married to Gerna G. Kimble Feaster, who died Feb. 1, 1998.
Surviving are a son, Larry A. Feaster of Keyser, W.Va.; a daughter, Jean Anderson of Stephenson; a sister, Nina Shobe of Petersburg; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

John M. Roddy Jr.
John Mark Roddy Jr., 87, of Winchester, formerly of Fairfax, died Friday, March 31, 2000, in a local nursing home.
Mr. Roddy was born Jan. 29, 1913, in Emmitsburg, Md., the son of John M. and Laura G. Orndorff Roddy. He was a district manager of Nationwide Insurance and an educator.
He was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church and a graduate of Mt. St. Mary’s College.
He married Helena Pitlanic on July 5, 1937, in Binghamton, N.Y.
Surviving are two sons, John M. Roddy III of Fairfax and Michael A. Roddy of Winchester; a daughter, Patricia J. Duval of Beaconsfield, Quebec, Canada; three sisters, Dorothy Lynch of Oakland, Calif., Aileen Groover of Lakewood, Calif., and Sister Ruth Roddy of Cumberland, Md.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Emmitsburg, with the Rev. Leo Tittler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Skiles Funeral Home, Emmitsburg, where a Rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m.

Dorothy Rose
Dorothy Alleen “Dottie” Rose, 84, of 112 Timberlake Terrace, Stephens City, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Rose was born Feb. 5, 1916, in Flint, Mich., the daughter of Holly K. and Pearl P. Fisk. She was a retired secretary with the Department of Defense.
She was a member of Boyce Baptist Church.
She married Albert W. Rose on April 4, 1982, in Ft. Meyers, Fla. Mr. Rose died Aug. 14, 1989.
Surviving are three daughters, Sandra Thorpe of Sterling, Sally Andren of Whitehall, Mont., Sue Ferrell of Stephens City; three stepdaughters, Sandra Nielsen of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Marylou Thompson of Albuquerque, N.M., and Janet Espy of Georgia; a stepson, Albert W. Rose Jr. of Cape Coral, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
A son, Robert Scott Wilber, and a stepson, David Smith, are deceased.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Boyce Baptist Church, with Pastor Clinton Lawyer officiating.

Stanley Clinton Ruckman, 58, of Romney, W.Va., died Thursday, March 30, 2000, in Hampshire Health Care Center, Romney, W.Va.
Mr. Ruckman was born Sept. 30, 1941, in Augusta, W.Va., the son of Woodrow and Winifred Hott Ruckman.
He was a member and lifetime elder of Romney Christian Church.
He was married to Margie E. Hott.
Surviving with his wife, are three daughters, Cynthia D. Horton, Barbara A. Kidwell, and Kathy J. Evans, all of Romney; three brothers, Jack W. Ruckman of Romney, Richard Ruckman of Anadarko, Okla., and Billy Ruckman of Decatur, Ga.; five sisters, Patty Hott of Kirby, W.Va., Wanda Ely of Moorefield, W.Va., Linda Smith of Cumberland, Md., Jeanette Richman of Winchester, and Judy Kenney of Romney; and 11 grandchildren.

Ruth Virginia White, 87, of 514 Darrview St., Winchester, died Thursday, March 30, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. White was born Feb. 15, 1913, in Martinsburg, W.Va., the daughter of Edward Oral and Anna Odessa Boherer Grove. She was a seamstress and a graduate of Martinsburg High School.
She was a member of Grace Brethren Church.
She married Marvin C. “Jimmie” White, who died Dec. 19, 1974.
Surviving are three sons, Robert Wayne White, Marvin C. White Jr., and Jerry L. White, all of Winchester; a brother, Edward Grove of Martinsburg; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Omps Funeral Home, with the Rev. Connie Martin officiating. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
