Lucy Elizabeth Riddelle Hupp, 91, of 643 E. Queen St., Strasburg, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, in Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Woodstock.
Mrs. Hupp was born May 9, 1908, in Strasburg, the daughter of Arch and Sallie Miley Riddelle.
She was retired from Aileen Inc. in Edinburg and Shenandoah Valley Press in Strasburg.
She was a member of Strasburg Christian Church and a docent at Strasburg Museum. She was a member of the Stover Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
She was married to David Lee Hupp.
Surviving are three daughters, Elizabeth H. Richard, Janie L. Mowery, and Sally Jo Hupp, all of Strasburg; two sons, R.G. “Butch” Hupp of Verona and Dennis L. Hupp of Strasburg; a sister, Ella Utterback of Baltimore; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Strasburg Christian Church, with the Rev. Frank Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Clark Richard, Doug Mowery Jr., John Tatum Jr., J.D. Ritenour, Joshua Ritenour, and Justin Jenkins.

John F. Jones
John Francis Jones, 39, of Greenville, S.C., formerly of Berryville, died Monday, March 27, 2000, in the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond.
Mr. Jones was born Dec. 9, 1960, in Washington, D.C., the son of Charles W. and Ruth Seibel Jones.
He was a 1978 graduate of Clarke County High School.
He married Jennifer Brottle on Aug. 24, 1996, in Alta Vista.
Surviving with his wife, are his father, of Berryville; his mother, of Haines City, Fla.; and two brothers, David Jones of Bowie, Md., and Michael Jones of Richmond.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville, with the Rev. Harvey Warnick officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville.

Florence P. Coulter
Florence Powers Coulter, 69, of 325 Amberwood Lane, Winchester, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Coulter was born Dec. 10, 1930, in Saint Brides, the daughter of William H. and Ella Sorey Powers.
She married Donald Coulter on July 28, 1959, in La Platta, Md.
Surviving with her husband, are three daughters, Pamela C. Messenger of Richmond, Kimberly Ann Coulter of Charlottesville, and Donna Coulter Ridgeway of Raleigh, N.C.; a son, Ronald James Coulter of Goldsboro, N.C.; two brothers, Benny M. Powers of Topeka, Kan., and Ralph L. Powers of Chesapeake; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, with Dr. Jerry Campbell officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Joseph C. Arciuolo Jr.
Joseph Carmine Arciuolo Jr., 71, of 106 East Main St., Berryville, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Arciuolo was born Nov. 29, 1928, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Joseph and Nina Manduca Arciuolo. He was a cook at a nursing home and had retired.
He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, with the rank of corporal.
He married Madeline Theresa Bonvino on Sept. 25, 1944, in Brooklyn.
Surviving with his wife, are a son, Steven Arciuolo of Pittsburgh; three daughters, Deborah Arciuolo of Bound Brook, N.J., Anna Wallick of Yokota Air Base, Tokyo, and Maria Aros, of Berryville; three sisters, Elsie Vitteretti and Rose Arciuolo, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Helen Mondello of Staten Island, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
A daughter, Elizabeth Arciuolo, is deceased.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville, with the Rev. Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Clarke County Honor Guard. Burial will be private.

Frances Elizabeth Pool Haaren, 63, of Arlington, died Monday, March 27, 2000, in Cherrydale Health and Rehabilitation Center, Arlington.
Mrs. Haaren was born Jan. 17, 1937, in Nigeria, West Africa, the daughter of James Christopher and Elizabeth Routh Pool.
Surviving with her mother, of San Angelo, Texas, are three sons, The Rev. Robert C. Blinn of Stephens City, Keith A. Blinn of Fairfax, and Eugene C. Blinn of Fairfield, Pa.; a daughter, Katherine E. Allison of Arlington; a sister, Carolyn Routh Pool of Fairfax; a brother, James C. Pool of San Angelo; and 12 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Columbia Baptist Church, Falls Church, with the Rev. Neal T. Jones officiating. Burial will be in Columbia Gardens Cemetery, Arlington.

Dorothy Mae Shepherd, 77, of 8 East Main St., Boyce, died Monday, March 27, 2000, in Culpeper Health Care Center, Culpeper.
Mrs. Shepherd was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Thurman W. and Effie Seaton Weakley. She was a bookkeeper and had worked at Doubleday in Berryville.
She was a member of Rectortown United Methodist Church.
She was married to Winter C. Shepherd, who died April 26, 1987.
Surviving are a son, Charles W. Thackston of Boyce; and a granddaughter.

Viola C. Davis
Viola Cecelia Davis, 91, of 173 Highview Drive, Maurertown, died Monday, March 27, 2000, in Susan B. Miller Nursing Home, Woodstock.
Mrs. Davis was born April 17, 1908, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of Clement and Martha Miller Stevenson. She was retired from the federal government.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy D. Smith of Toms Brook and Phyllis A. West of Falls Church; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A remembrance time will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the home of her daughter, Nancy Smith.

Irene H. Clark
Irene “Rene” Stevens Headley Clark, 94, of 324 Fairmont Ave., Winchester, died Monday, March 27, 2000, in Briarcliff Nursing Home, McAllen, Texas.
Mrs. Clark was born Jan. 11, 1906, in Stephens City, the daughter of Joshua Wright and Rosa Virginia Gardiner Headley. She retired as a legal secretary after more than 45 years with R. Gray Williams, Sloan Kuykendall II, and Henry Whiting.
She was a graduate of Handley High School.
She was an active member of Centenary Reformed Church of Christ and Winchester Senior Center. She was a member of the Widowed Persons group, Senior Square Dance Club, and the Homemakers Club. She was past president of the Quota Club.
She married P. Albert Clark on May 23, 1931, in Winchester. Mr. Clark died in 1956.
Surviving are a daughter, Virginia Clark Hamlin of Le Sueur, Minn.; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, at Centenary Reformed United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Robert Stainback officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.

Leota T. Boardman
Leota Turner Boardman, 90, of Capon Bridge, W.Va., died Sunday, March 26, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Boardman was born Dec. 3, 1909, in Clearfield, Pa., the daughter of William E. and Dora Kyler Turner. She was a practical nurse in Clearfield and a clerk for 30 years at Amtrack in Maryland. She attended Capon Bridge United Methodist Church and was a member of Capon Bridge Senior Center.
She was married to Russell Boardman, who died in 1994. Her first husband, Wilfred Davis, died in 1979.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Sargent of Capon Bridge; a brother, William Turner of Johnstown, Pa.; two sisters, Geraldine Bradshaw of Milton, Fla., and Nellye Hall of Clearfield; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
A son, Robert Davis, is deceased.
A funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Giffin Funeral Home, Capon Bridge, with the Rev. Patrick Kerr officiating. Burial will at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, Md.

Ruth L. Beyer
Ruth Lorene Beyer, 89, of HC-71, Box 110, Augusta, W.Va., died Sunday, March 26, 2000, in Hampshire Health Care Center, Romney, W.Va.
Mrs. Beyer was born Nov. 19, 1910, in Slanesville, W.Va., the daughter of John and Ida Smoot Fultz. She was retired from the government.
She was married to William Beyer, who died May 2, 1956.
She was the last member of her immediate family.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Salem Cemetery, Points, W.Va., with Gary Edwards officiating.

Garrett B. Kuykendall Sr.
Garrett B. Kuykendall Sr., 81, of River View Farm, River Road, Romney, W.Va., died Sunday, March 26, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Kuykendall was born March 24, 1919, in Romney, the son of Richard Sloan and Virginia Lee Pancake Kuykendall.
He was a longtime farmer.
He graduated from Romney High School and attended Potomac State College.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Romney Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Sally P. Kuykendall; two sons, Richard S. Kuykendall and Garrett B. Kuykendall Jr., both of Romney; a sister, Mary Parsons Cauthorn of Richmond; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Romney Presbyterian Church, with Dr. John S. Franklin and the Rev. H. Stark Cauthorn officiating. Burial will be in Indian Mound Cemetery, Romney.

Leslie Lockhart Cornell, 74, of 100 Massanutten Manor, Apt. 129, Strasburg, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, in Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Woodstock.
Mrs. Cornell was born April 12, 1925, in Front Royal, the daughter of James Simons and Bertie Simons Martin. She was retired from banking.
She was married to Guy Cornell.
Surviving are two sons, Elmer Lee Lockhart of Middleburg and Dennis Lockhart Jr. of Woodstock; two daughters, Jean L. Fisher of Pflugerville, Texas, and Linda L. Neff of Anniston, Ala.; a brother, James Simons Jr. of New Market; a sister, Catherine Crompton of Marshall; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be in Panorama Memorial Gardens, Waterlick, with Pastor Keith Warren officiating.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Clint Fisher, Larry Lockhart, Tim Lockhart, Michael Lockhart, Brian Lockhart, and Chris Lockhart.

Samuel Charles Reifinger, 71, of Capon Bridge, W.Va., died Sunday, March 26, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Reifinger was born May 25, 1928, in Allentown, Pa., the son of Raymond D. and Pearl Miller Reifinger.
He was a machinist for Honeywell Co. in St. Petersburg, Fla.
He was an Army veteran.
Surviving are a son, Samuel C. Reifinger II of Capon Bridge; a sister, Ruth VanFleet of Bowling Green, Ky.; and three grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be at a later date.

Boyd L. Sisler
Boyd Lynn Sisler, 83, of 19 Richards Ave., Winchester, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Sisler was born April 29, 1916, in Wardensville, W.Va., the son of Benjamin Franklin and Annie White Sisler. He worked for American Viscose for 36 years.
He was a member of Faith Mission Church in Wardensville.
He and his wife, Eufa Sisler, were married on Dec. 25, 1937, in Martinsburg. Mrs. Sisler died March 12, 2000.
Surviving are two sons, David L. Sisler of Middletown and Kenneth L. Sisler of Winchester; two daughters, Loretta S. Swartz and Judy A. Kanotus, both of Winchester; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Lyle Edward “Buck” Beatty Sr., 73, of Front Royal, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, in Heritage Hall Health Care Center, Front Royal.
Mr. Beatty was born April 28, 1926, in Flint Hill, the son of Samuel and Laura North Beatty. He was retired from Avtex Fibers as a press operator.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a former member of the Moose Lodge and the VFW.
He was married to Mary Kathlene Shifflett for 54 years.
Surviving with his wife, are a son, Lyle E. Beatty Jr. of Front Royal; two daughters, Barbara A. Rosenberry of Herndon and Mary E. Vermillion of Sterling; a brother, Samuel Beatty of Haynes City, Fla.; two sisters, Ann May of Bristol, Pa., and Jane Dodson of Dickerson, Md.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Dora Marie Blackburn, 80, of Romney, W.Va., died Saturday, March 25, 2000, in Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Romney, W.Va.
Mrs. Blackburn was born Oct. 31, 1919, in Hardy County, W.Va., the daughter of Minnie Alt and Michael J. Kesner.
She was married to Gilbert B. Blackburn.
Surviving are a son, Robert R. Blackburn of Romney; four daughters, Viola M. Kesner of Augusta, W.Va., Thelma M. Garrison of Smith, Ala., and Wilma L. Kuykendall and Frances S. Mabry, both of Romney; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A son, Howard Blackburn, is deceased.

James Henry “Jimmy” Williams, 56, of 2808 Wardensville Grade, Winchester, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Williams was born Dec. 22, 1943, in Winchester, the son of William Ralph and Maxine Elizabeth Brill Williams. He was a heavy equipment operator for L.F. Franklin & Son and a graduate of James Wood High School.
He was a member of the Elks Club, Eagles Club, and the Terrace Club. He attended St. John’s Lutheran Church.
He married Susie Ann Stotler on May 29, 1965, in Winchester.
Surviving with his wife, are a son, Jeffrey Dwayne Williams of Capon Bridge, W.Va.; three daughters, Dana Williams Gosnell of Stephens City, and Heidi Marie Williams and Samantha Jo Williams, both of Winchester; a sister, Anna Virginia Moreland of Augusta, W.Va.; and four grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, with Freddie Franklin and David A. Owings officiating. Burial will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery.

Marvin Richardson Lent, 82, of Capon Springs, W.Va., died Friday, March 24, 2000, in the VA Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Mr. Lent was born Jan. 22, 1918, in Peekskill, N.Y., the son of Henry D. and Lulu Smith Lent. He was a retired house painter in Bethesda, Md.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Open Bible Baptist Church and the VFW in Leesburg, Fla. He was a marksman with a special rifle team, Bolling Field, Washington, D.C., and an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener.
He married Laura Lorick on June 14, 1947, in Rockville, Md.
Surviving with his wife, are two sons, Wayne Richardson Lent of Capon Springs and Richard Alan Lent of Springfield; a daughter, Sherry Lent Hutchinson of Alexandria; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Loy-Giffin Funeral Home, Wardensville, W.Va., with Pastor Jim Sandefur officiating.
