Wayne R. Lent
Wayne Richardson Lent, 50, of Capon Springs, W.Va., died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Lent was born July 1, 1950, in Washington, D.C., the son of Marvin R. and Laura Lorick Lent. He owned and operated Wayne’s Heating & Air and conducted a prison ministry at White Post Community Corrections Center.
He was a member of Capon Springs Hunt Club and attended Hayfield Assembly of God Church.
He married Sonia LaFollette on Oct. 5, 1973, in Winchester.
Surviving with his wife and mother, of Capon Springs, are two sons, Richard W. Lent of Capon Springs and Marvin “Marty” R. Lent of Winchester; two daughters, Jennifer “Jenn” L. Combs of Wardensville, W.Va., and Caroline E. “Carrie” Loy of Capon Bridge, W.Va.; a brother, Richard A. Lent of Springfield; a sister, Sherry See Hutchinson of Alexandria; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at a later date.

Frank C. Johnson
Frank C. Johnson, 84, of West North Avenue, Winchester, died Saturday, March 10, 2001, in the VA Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Mr. Johnson was born May 1, 1916, in Mount Nebo, W.Va., the son of James H. and Margaret E. Hughes Johnson. He had been an oil burner mechanic for Miller & Anderson Plumbing and Heating.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, V.F.W. Post 2123, and the American Legion, Conrad Hoover Post 21.
He served in the Coast Guard.
He married Mildred DeVince on April 17, 1943, in New York, N.Y. Mrs. Johnson died Aug. 24, 1997.
Surviving are a son, John F. Johnson of Winchester; a stepson, James R. Troisi of Uniontown, Pa.; two daughters, Janice A. Peddieson of Cookeville, Tenn., and Joanne M. Bullis of LeBonan Junction, Ky.; a brother, Wilbur Johnson of Capon Bridge, W.Va.; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Joyce F. Francis, is deceased.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Cemetery, with the Rev. Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Military honors will be accorded by V.F.W. Post 2123.
Pallbearers will be John Johnson Jr., Benjamin Johnson, Jim Troisi, John Wren, Frank Convenuto, Mario Convenuto, John Mauck, Jason Francis, and Bill Rankin.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home, Winchester.
Nancy H. DiPrisco
Nancy H. DiPrisco, 59, of Richmond, Ind., formerly of Winchester, died Friday, March 9, 2001.
Mrs. DiPrisco was born Aug. 4, 1941, in Norton, the daughter of Earl and Zelma Hyatt. She was an assistant vice president of commercial loans for First American Bank in Winchester.
She was a graduate of John Handley High School and attended Lord Fairfax Community College and St. Mary of the Woods College in Indiana.
She was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Shenandoah Valley Exchange Club.
She had been involved with Shalom et Benedictus, Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival committees, the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Winchester-Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, the Business & Professional Women’s Club, and the Rhythm Teen Center.
Survivors include her husband, F. Randolph DiPrisco of Richmond, Ind.; two daughters, Lisa Baylis Beach of Lexington Park, Md., and Vicki Baylis Buswell of Hamilton; a stepson, Daniel DiPrisco of Indianapolis; a stepdaughter, Jennifer DiPrisco of Muncie, Ind.; three brothers, William E. Hyatt of Oakland, N.J., James B. Hyatt of Richmond, Va., and Onza E. Hyatt of Hopewell; and a grandchild.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Braddock Street United Methodist Church, Winchester, with Saundra Nottingham officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Margaret L. Ball
Margaret Louise Ball, 72, of Temple Hills, Md., formerly of Winchester, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in Southern Maryland Hospital, Clinton, Md.
Mrs. Ball was born Aug. 26, 1928, in Adamstown, Md., the daughter of Harrison and Elizabeth Leekins Spencer. She was a former member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Winchester.
She was married to Richard Ball.
Surviving are a son; a stepdaughter, Louise Jackson of Winchester; and two stepsons, John Ball and Charles Ball both of Winchester.
A stepson, David Nelson, is deceased.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. today in Orrick Cemetery, Winchester, with Pastor Gilbert M. Mack Jr. officiating.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Pauline J. Ash
Pauline Jane Keeler Ash, 83, of 103 Piedmont Way, Stephens City died Sunday, March 11, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 9, 1917, in Marlboro, the daughter of Ebin Taylor and Katie Alice Sherman Keeler.
She was retired from National Fruit Co. where she worked in production. She was a member of the Cedar Creek Presbyterian Church and attended the Frederick County Senior Center in Stephens City.
She was married to David G. Ash on July 31, 1938. He died July 11, 1968.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara A. Swope of Stephens City; five sons, David L. Ash, James E. Ash, Michael W. Ash, and Benjamin T. Ash, all of Stephens City, and Dale A. Ash of Winchester; a brother, Rev. George T. Keeler of Woodstock; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with the Rev. John Wade officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Stephens City.
Pallbearers will be David Clowser, James DuBrueler Jr., Dale Allen Ash Jr., Jerry L. Richards, James Daniel Ash, and Charles Allen Swope.

Edith L. Shumaker
Edith L. Shumaker, 95, formerly of 2 Broadway, Hagerstown, Md., died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at Homewood Retirement Center in Williamsport, Md.
She was born Feb. 12, 1906 in Clarke County, the daughter of Benjamin H. and Ella M. Huff Ashby.
Her husband, Robert R. Shumaker, died in 1979.
She retired in 1963 from Eylery’s Dept. Store in Hagerstown.
She was a member of the Berryville Baptist Church and the AARP.
Surviving is a brother, James H. Ashby of Berryville.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Shenandoah Memorial Park with the Rev. Jack Weise officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are being handled by the Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown.
William E. Denson
William Edward “Edd” Denson, 74, of 104 Frederick Drive, Stephens City, died Saturday March 10, 2001, in the V.A. Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Mr. Denson was born May 2, 1926, in Schuyler, the son of William R. and Elizabeth C. Craig Denson.
He was a furniture craftsman. He was a veteran of World War II and served with the Army, 5th Infantry, where he was awarded a Purple Heart.
Survivors include a daughter, Carla Diane Denson of Chesapeake; three sisters, Margaret Elizabeth Metz of Stephens City, and Hazel Jane White and Faye McDonald, both of Winchester; and two grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with David A. Owings officiating. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park. Graveside military rites will be provided by Winchester V.F.W. Post #2123.
Pallbearers will be Samuel George Flanagan, Kenneth Smith, Terry Metz, Michael McDonald, Jerry McDonald, Ron McDonald, Timmy Metz, Ricky Metz, and Bruce White.

Carrie M. Kenney
Carrie M. Kenney, 83, of Brucetown Road, Clearbrook, died Thursday, March 8, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Kenney was born Feb. 9, 1918, in Woodstock, the daughter of Oscar and Cora Weaver Rickard. She retied in 1965 from Winchester Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship Church.
She was married to George E. Kenney, who died Feb. 26, 1998. Her first husband, Lory B. Wilkins, died Nov. 4, 1970.
Surviving are seven daughters, Shirley Lee Kucharski of Wareham, Mass., Juanita Diane Ross, Freda Louise Piper, and Karen Kenney Smith, all of Winchester, Diane Dupere of Clearbrook, Belinda Rosenburger of Hayfield, and Rose Feltner of Gore; three sons, Ray D. Wilkins of Winchester, Wayne E. Wilkins of White Post, and Mark Ritenour; four stepdaughters, Barbara Fishel of Winchester, Margaret Brumback of Clearbrook, Linda Keeler of Strasburg, and Glenda Leach of Stephens City; four stepsons, George Kenney Jr. of Manchester, Tenn., Monroe Kenney of Herndon, Franklin Kenney of Stephenson, and William Trenary of Clearbrook; four sisters, Ruth Heffner, Edna Rickard, and Katherine Tease, all ofWoodstock, and Francis Toman of Richmond; 42 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Anna Mae Wilkins, and a stepdaughter, Julia Ritenour, are deceased.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Jones Funeral Home, with Pastor Craig B. Burleson officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

M. Ann Cito of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Thursday March 8, 2001, at the Valley View Nursing Home in Berkeley Springs.
She was born in Denver, Colo., the daughter of Michael Vincent and Lucile Caroline Cito.
She retired as an administrative aid from the Department of Defense. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Berkeley Springs.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Bermingham of Washington, D.C.

Ruth Carroll Alred, 80, of The Willows, Winchester, died Sunday March 11, 2001, in the Winchester Medical Center.

Alfred O. Keedy Jr., 91, of Hendersonville, Tenn., died Saturday March 10, 2001.
He was a native of Hagerstown, Md., later resided in Buffalo, N.Y., Birmingham, Mich.,; and Winchester.
A graduate of Dickinson College, he served in World War II and was employed by General Motors, retiring in 1969 after 35 years in management for the Chevrolet parts division.
He was a member of the Hendersonville First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Averyl; two daughters, Linda K. Belknap of Hendersonville and Caroline Wilson of Encinitas, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Robinson Co. Chapel, 257 W. Main, Hendersonville, with Rev. Tom Pickering officiating.
