Lorene M. Jackson
Lorene Marie Jackson, 76, of Mayfair House, Woodstock, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, in Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Woodstock.
Miss Jackson was born July 28, 1924, in Englewake, Kan., the daughter of Samuel H. and Freda Ulrich Jackson. She retired after 37 years with the Navy Seas Systems Command as a technical publication specialist.
She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Pha Sorority and the Federal Employed Women.
She attended St. Stephens Lutheran Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Shirley Jackson of Tulsa, Okla., and Betty Goodmon of Wagoner, Okla.
A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, with the Rev. James Baseler officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday in National Memorial Park, Falls Church.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Jeanette S. Moore
Jeanette Shipe Moore, 62, of 108 Orchid Court, Winchester, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Moore was born Oct. 8, 1938, in Front Royal, the daughter of Cleveland and Nannie Mae Oliver Shipe. She was a homemaker.
She married the Rev. Robert “Buzz” Moore on June 10, 1961, in Front Royal.
Surviving with her husband are three daughters, Melanie Thatcher of Fairfax, Jackie Yencha of Herndon, and Kim Kerby of Arlington; a son, Rob Moore of Burke; three sisters, Joyce Fritts, Jerry Ridgeway, and Janice Shipe, all of Front Royal; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Front Royal United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Whetzel and the Rev. Charles Harless officiating. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends following the service at Bowling Green Country Club, Warren County.

Harry E. Lucas
Harry Edward “Punch” Lucas, 76, of Inwood, W.Va., died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Lucas was born Oct. 28, 1924, in Martinsburg, W.Va., the son of Harry E. and Eleanor Poisal Lucas. He retired from C&P Telephone Co. after 37 years.
He was a 1943 graduate of Martinsburg High School and a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Jefferson County Izaak Walton League, the National Rifle Association, Berkeley Post 14 of the American Legion, Newton D. Baker Post 896 of the VFW, and the Pioneers of the Telephone Co. He was past master of Equality Lodge 44, AF&AM.
He was married to Dorothy Snapp for 56 years.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Harry E. Lucas III of Martinsburg and Jeffrey S. Lucas of Middletown; a sister, Ann Emmert of Martinsburg; and a granddaughter.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at South Berkeley Chapel, Inwood. Burial will be in Gerrardstown Presbyterian Cemetery, Gerrardstown, W.Va., with a Masonic graveside service by Equality Lodge 44, AF&AM, and military honors by the Veterans Combined Honor Guard of Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.

Adeline G. McClanahan
Adeline Gordon McClanahan, 74, of Back Road, Woodstock, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, in Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal.
Mrs. McClanahan was born April 22, 1926, in Warren County, the daughter of Quint and Dulcie Mae Henry Gordon. She was a homemaker.
She was married to Oscar McClanahan.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Stickley of Woodstock and Kathy Kimmell of Strasburg; a son, William Gordon of Strasburg; a brother, Archie Gordon of Front Royal; a sister, Arthelia Edmonds of Front Royal; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Riverview Cemetery, Strasburg, with the Rev. Brenda J. Biler officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg.

Alissa A. Summers
Alissa Ann Summers, infant daughter of Lawrence and Melissa Hill Summers of Winchester, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, in the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.
She was born Feb. 13, 2001, in Charlottesville.
Surviving with her parents are a twin sister, Alyssa Ann Summers, and a sister, Candace Moore, both at home; her maternal grandparents, Roshier and Mary Bailey of Front Royal; her paternal grandparents, George and Lillian Whitmore of Front Royal; her maternal great-grandmother, Edith Edwards of Front Royal; and her paternal great-grandmother, Rosanna Sloane of White Post.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, Front Royal, with the Rev. Louvenia Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery, Front Royal.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Barbara E. Jackson
Barbara Eugene Jackson, 56, of Aurora, Colo., formerly of Front Royal, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at her home.
Ms. Jackson was born Dec. 29, 1944, the daughter of Pauline Bell and John Randolph Jackson. She worked in veterinary medicine and was administrator of Aurora Hospital.
She was educated in Warren County Public Schools.
Surviving with her mother, of Front Royal, are a son, Michael T. Lewis of Aurora; a daughter, Stephanie Lewis Young of Vista, Calif.; two brothers, John R. Jackson Jr. of Sterling and Melvin A. Jackson of Ackokee, Md.; and three grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, Front Royal, with the Rev. Charles Jackson and the Rev. Alfred Woods officiating. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Jackson III, Tommy Jackson Sr., Charles Jackson Jr., Ricky Young, Troy Lewis, and Kenny Jackson.

James B. Chapman
James B. “Tissie” Chapman, 93, of Bunker Hill, W.Va., died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Chapman was born Nov. 17, 1907, in Bunker Hill, the son of James Madison and Annie Berket Abrell Chapman. He was a house painter and had retired from Clearbrook Woolen Mills.
He was a member of Paynes Chapel United Methodist Church and was active with Bunker Hill Historical Committee.
He was married to Thelma Smallwood.
Surviving with his wife are a brother, Ward Chapman of Bunker Hill; a sister, Ruth Swartz of Inwood, W.Va.; and a niece, Cindy Linton of Inwood, who had cared for him for many years.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at South Berkeley Chapel, Inwood, with the Rev. Khrista Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Paynes Chapel Cemetery.

Orintha A. Schafer
Orintha Adale Schafer, 95, of Warfordsburg, Pa., died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, in Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, Pa.
Mrs. Schafer was born April 8, 1905, in Buck Valley, Pa., the daughter of Frederick and Anna Belle Hoopengardner Norris.
She worked at Westinghouse Electronics in Pittsburgh. She was a member of Buck Valley Christian Church in Fulton.
She was married to William John Schafer, who died April 27, 1987.
Surviving are a son, Marshall Norris, of Hagerstown, Md.; a brother, Clyde Norris of Belle Grove, Md; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A son, Frederick Schafer, is deceased.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with the Rev. Clint Bahrenburg and the Rev. Albert Knox officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Genevieve Boyce
Genevieve Boyce, 82, of Payne Road, Winchester, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Boyce was born June 28, 1918, in Warren County, the daughter of James and Emma Henry Mauck.
She was employed at the fountain at People’s Drug Store in Winchester and retired in 1972.
She married Richard C. Boyce on June 28, 1941, in Winchester.
Surviving are a daughter, Janie Anderson of Winchester; and two grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Hebron Cemetery with the Rev. Anthony A. Wadsworth officiating.

Rick Monroe Hounshell, 44, of Redland, Calif., formerly of Front Royal, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, in Redland.

Edward F. Naravas
Edward Frank Naravas, 67, of 1305 Ambrose Drive, Winchester, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Naravas was born July 5, 1933, in Wanamie, Pa., the son of Edward and Helen Frank Naravas.
He was a realtor and a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, with a degree in chemical engineering.
He was an Army veteran and a member of Masonic Temple AF&AM.
He married Sheila Geary on June 27, 1964, in Milford, N.J.
Surviving with his wife, are a daughter, Melissa Snider of Parker, Colo.; three sons, Gerard Naravas of White Hall, Pa., Michael Naravas of Front Royal, and Mark Naravas of Denver, Colo.; and nine grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Allentown, Pa.

Freda Ellen Ash, 90, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, in Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs.
Mrs. Ash was born June 6, 1910, in Spruce Pine Hollow, Morgan County, W.Va., the daughter of James S. and Mary Jane Michael Johnson.
She worked at the Interwoven Hosiery Mills in Berkeley Springs and Kesecker’s Canning Factory, Spohrs Crossroads.
She was a member of Calvary Bible Church, Berkeley Springs, where she helped with the nursery.
She was married to Joseph Harold Ash, who died Oct. 30, 1992.
Surviving are two daughters, Darlene Ellen Gaston of Johnstown, Pa., and Bernice Mary Stotler of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; three sisters, Reva Payne of Martinsburg, W.Va., Twila Payne and Ramona Kesecker, both of Hedgesville, W.Va.; three brothers, Garvin Johnson and Beverly Johnson, both of Berkeley Springs, and George Andrew Johnson of Cherry Run, W.Va.; and three grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Bible Church, Berkeley Springs, with Pastor Jim Downey officiating.
Burial will be in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery, Morgan County.
