Fannie E. Fox
Fannie Elizabeth Wilson Stickel Dodge Fox, 84, of 166 Theatre Road, Front Royal, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Fox was born Aug. 1, 1916, in Waterloo, Culpeper County, the daughter of John E. and Gertrude Wines Wilson.
Mrs. Fox was a homemaker. She was married to Richard Fox, who died May 23, 1985.
Her first husband, Henry Stickel, died March 27, 1964. Her second husband, James Dodge, died May 8, 1977.
Surviving are two daughters, Gloria Virts of Winchester and Phyllis Noakes of Front Royal; two sons, John H. Stickel and Thomas Stickel, both of Boyce; a sister, Lula Lucas of West Virginia; a brother, John E. Wilson of Berryville; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Virts, Jamie Grimes, Mose Stickel, John Stickel Jr., Thomas Stickel Jr., Michael Stickel, and Aaron Stickel.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
William H. Jackson Jr.
William Henry “Slick” Jackson Jr., 61, of 331 George St., Winchester, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Jackson was born May 29, 1939, in Page County, the son of William Henry and Nina Spears Jackson.
He was a chef for Marty’s in Tampa, Fla., and an Air Force veteran. He was a member of Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Spiritual Warriors at Martinsburg Veterans Medical Center.
He married Jerry Olinger on April 4, 1992, in St. Peters Lutheran Church, Shenandoah.
Surviving with his wife, are two stepsons, Scott Lang of Luray and John Lang of Verona; a stepdaughter, Julie Bartlett of Mt. Crawford; a sister, Lena Lanier of Elkton; and three step grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Rhodes Wooly officiating.
Friends may call at the Jackson home anytime.

Everett C. Weitzell
Everett Carl Weitzell, 88, of 300 Westminster Canterbury Drive, Winchester, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Weitzell was born Aug. 13, 1912, in Paradise, Md., the son of George W. and Anne E. Lohr Weitzell.
He was an agricultural economist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and retired after 41 years.
He earned an MS degree in agriculture from the University of Maryland and a PhD in agricultural economics from the University of Wisconsin.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific Theater.
He was chairman of the Alexandria Planning Commission for 15 years.
He was a member of Market Street United Methodist Church and the Virginia Horticultural Society.
He married Hazel Mae Speicher on July 11, 1935, in Accident, Md.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Sada Ann Johnson of Alexandria; a son, Roy E. Weitzell of Harrisonburg; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A private service is planned.

Adeline Gordon McClanahan, 74, of Back Road, Woodstock, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal.

Goldie G. Ruckman
Goldie Gertrude Ruckman, 89, of Augusta, W.Va., died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, in Nice and Cozy Personal Care Home, Slanesville, W.Va.
Miss Ruckman was born Oct. 13, 1911, in Augusta, the daughter of Jacob and Martha McDonald Ruckman.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Zoar Baptist Church, Augusta, the American Baptist Women, and Hampshire County Homemakers Club.
She was the last member of her immediate family.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, with Pastor Ken Dolan officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Augusta.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Michael J. Fortini
Michael J. Fortini, 58, of Kenesaw, Ga., formerly of Winchester, died Feb. 6, 2001.
Mr. Fortini was born May 27, 1942, in Pierce, W.Va., the son of Joseph M. and Alice K. Moore Fortini.
He was retired from VDO and had worked in sales. He was an Army veteran and a graduate of Collinwood High School in Cleveland. He attended John Carroll University.
Surviving with his mother, of Safety Harbor, Fla., and his wife, are a son and a daughter, both of Atlanta; a sister, Margaret S. Siembieda of Safety Harbor; and a grandson.
A funeral was at Castellaw Funeral Home, Smyrna, Ga., with burial in Kenesaw City Cemetery.

Elizabeth D. Willich
Elizabeth “Betsy” Dalton Willich, 63, of Winchester died Thursday Feb. 22, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. Willich was born March 31, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Donald A. and Elizabeth Jerome Dalton.
Survivors include a son, G. Dawson Willich of Chesterfield, N.H.; a daughter, E. Broocks Willich of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and two brothers, J. Broocks Dalton of Ocean Ridge, Fla., and William M. Dalton II of Warsaw, Ind.
A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Anglican Church in Winchester with the Rev. David Westie officiating.

Pauline Mae Riffey Hammond, 85, of Woodstock died Saturday Feb. 24, 2001, at the Godfrey House in Berryville.
Mrs. Hammond was born May 13, 1915, in Woodstock, the daughter of James Eugene and Ollie Hoover Riffey.
She was a former sales clerk at Tysons Corner and a member of Mt. Calvary United Church of Christ.
She was married to David L. Hammond.
Survivors include a son, David E. Hammond of Winchester; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock with the Rev. Barbara Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock.

Charles Rutherford
Charles “Chuck” Rutherford, 80, of Bristol died Friday Feb. 23, 2001, in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Davy, W.Va. and was a former resident of Welch, W.Va., Charleston, W.Va., and Roanoke. He has resided in Bristol since 1966.
He was a retired employee of Flowers Bakery, which was formerly Hechts, Purity Maid.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Davis Rutherford of Bristol; two daughters, Carol S. Roark of Bristol and Rita G. Fawley of Stephens City; two sons, Roger Rutherford of Denton, Texas and Fred Rutherford of Amarillo, Texas; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at the East Bristol Church of Christ with the Rev. Jess Trotter officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery .
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. before the service.

Bertha S. Gordon
Bertha Showers Gordon, 76, of Front Royal died Sunday Feb. 25, 2001, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home.
Mrs. Gordon was born Jan. 10, 1925, in Linden, Va., the daughter of John T. and Georgie Dawson Gordon.
She married John Richard Gordon who died in 1954.
She was a member of Marlow Heights Baptist Church. She worked to the War Department in Washington and later worked in the cafeteria of E. Wilson Morrison Elementary School.
Survivors include two sons, George Wayne Gordon and John Thomas Gordon, both of Riverton; and a daughter, Margaret Gordon Abrahamian of Alexandria.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Prospect Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Bunce officiating.

Mary Frances Nettles, 82, Capon Bridge, W.Va., died Friday Feb. 23, 2001, in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Nettles was born Jan. 15, 1919, in Elberton, Ga., the daughter of George F. and Frances Langston Lyons.
She was retired as an administrative officer for the National Security Agency in Ft. Meade, Md.
She was a member of the Kernstown United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 77 of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and the Order of Eastern Star of Winchester.
She married Larry J. Nettles Aug. 29, 1936, in Greenville, S.C.
Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Frances L. Boyd of Winchester; a son, Jerry D. Nettles of Charles Town, W.Va.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Paw Paw United Methodist Church, Paw Paw, W.Va. with the Rev. Richard Craig officiating. Burial will be in Camp Hill Cemetery in Hampshire County, W.Va.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Nettles, Michael Nettles, Thomas Boyd, Scott Ward, Alexander Boyd, Leslie Boyd, and Jerry Kline.
