Virginia, U.S., Marriage Records, 1936-2014

Beulah M. Russo
Beulah Marion Russo, 93, of Gore died Tuesday Feb. 20, 2001, in the Winchester Medical Center.

Ms. Russo was born Dec. 12, 1907, in Guthrie Center, Iowa, the daughter of Willis M. and Ella Inez Wolfinger Davis.

She was a retired secretary in Norristown, Pa.

Her husband, Benjamin Joseph Russo, died July 12, 1999.

Survivors include five sisters, Emma Irene Curtis of Vale, Ore., Wilma Mennet of Castro Valley, Calif.; Arta Smith of Bremerton, Wash., Leona Perkins and Inez Lewis, both of Coffeysville, Kan.

A private graveside service will be at 11 a.m. today at Culpeper National Cemetery.

Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, is handling arrangements.

G. Robert Wolfe
G. Robert Wolfe, 75, of 716 Woodland Ave. died Friday Feb. 23, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Wolfe was born Oct. 17, 1925, in Strasburg, the son of Allen T. and Mary Etta Glascock Wolfe.

He was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Winchester, Isaac Walton League, and a past leader of Boy Scout Troop 1.

He attended Clemson University and was retired after 37 years from Potomac Edison as an engineering supervisor.

He married Clarene H. Wolfe Sept. 28, 1946, in Strasburg.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Carolyn Wolfe Maccubbin and Robin Wolfe Scully, both of Winchester; a son Joseph Allen Wolfe of Winchester; a sister, Miriam Wolfe Willey of Strasbug; and seven grandchildren.

A committal service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Riverview Cemetery and a memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Strasburg Christian Church with the Rev. Allan Gray and the Rev. James H. Utt officiating.

The family will receive friends this afternoon and evening at the Wolfe home.

Memorials may be made to the Heritage for the Future Fund at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 26 W. Boscawen St., Winchester, 22601 or to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund, First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 75 Merriman’s Lane, Winchester, 22601.

Barbara A. Ridgeway
Barbara Ann “BeBe” Ridgeway, 47, of Reston, formerly of Winchester, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, in Inova Fairfax Hospital.

Ms. Ridgeway was born March 21, 1953, in Winchester, the daughter of Moses Brown and Josephine Ford. She was a graduate of Winchester Beauty School and a licensed hair stylist and cosmetologist. She was a dietitian for Inova Cameron Glen Care Center in Fairfax.

She attended Heritage Fellowship Church in Reston.

Surviving are a son, Charles Ridgeway of Jacksonville, N.C.; two brothers, Tony Ford of Centreville and Thomas Ford of Winchester; a sister, Ann Hughes of Herndon; her paternal grandmother, Annie Brown of Berryville; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Michael R. Phelps & Associates Funeral Directors, Stephens City, with the Rev. John G. Scott Sr. officiating.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Douglass Alumni Association, c/o Sharon W. Harris, 542 Eagle Place, Winchester 22601.

Lula R. Sine
Lula R. Sine, 78, of Avalon Drive, Front Royal, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at her home.

Mrs. Sine was born Nov. 10, 1922, in Moorefield, W.Va., the daughter of Harry and Tudie Cook Delawder. She was a cook at the George Washington Home for Adults in Winchester.

She was a member of the women’s auxiliaries of the Winchester VFW, Eagles Club, and Moose Lodge 1367.

She married Robert W. Sine in Hagerstown, Md. Mr. Sine died Feb. 25, 1964.

Surviving are three sons, Carlton Sine of Front Royal, Harry Sine of Susan, and Larry Sine of Winchester; two daughters, Mabel Bryant of Santa Fe, Texas, and Retha Lackey of Winchester; a sister, Ruby Dunlap of Gore; eight grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pine Grove Methodist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Owen T. Foltz Jr.
Owen T. Foltz Jr., 71, of Buckhorn Lane, Frederick County, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at his home.

Mr. Foltz was born Dec. 6, 1929, in Moorefield, W.Va., the son of Owen T. and Mary Olt Foltz. He was a production worker at the former Avtex Corp., Front Royal, and served in the National Guard.

He married Peggy Forbes on Oct. 10, 1951, in Winchester.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Owen T. “Rusty” Foltz III of Farmington, Minn., and Lawrence M. “Larry” Foltz of O’Fallon, Ill.; a daughter, Deborah A. “Debby” Cheshire of Winchester; two brothers, Jimmie Foltz of Winchester and Jonnie Foltz of Cross Junction; a sister, Mary Joan Foltz of San Antonio, Texas; and five grandchildren.

A private service is planned for a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Shelter for Abused Women, P.O. Box 14, Winchester 22602.

Mary Frances Nettles, 82, of HC-61, Box 212, Capon Bridge, W.Va., died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.

Robert Wolfe, 75, of 716 Woodland Ave., Winchester, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.

Virginia C. Bailes of 914 E. King St., Strasburg, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at her home.

Minnie E. Reim
Minnie “Mini” Evalyn Avery Reim, 82, of Stonebrook Road, Winchester, died Friday, March 2, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. Reim was born May 29, 1918, in Holt, Ala., the daughter of James P. and Dovie Pierson Avery. She had been the office manager for her husband’s medical practice in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

She had been an elder of Christ Presbyterian Church and a volunteer at Baptist Memorial Hospital, both in Memphis, Tenn.

She attended First Presbyterian Church in Winchester.

She married Dr. Norman H. Reim on Jan. 1, 1936, in Tuscaloosa. Dr. Reim died in 1972.

Surviving are a son, Norman Herbert Reim of Frenchtown, N.J.; two daughters, Avery Reim Ramspeck of Winchester and Carolyn Reim Freshwater of Woodbridge; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at a later date at First Presbyterian Church, Winchester. Burial will be in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 116 S. Loudoun St., Winchester 22601; or to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester 22601.

Floyd W. Spiker
Floyd William Spiker, 87, of the Mayfair House, Woodstock, formerly of Strasburg, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, in Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Woodstock.

Mr. Spiker was born March 2, 1913, in Shenandoah County, the son of Charles and Mary Spiker. He was retired from FMC, Front Royal, after 32 years.

He was a member and deacon of Strasburg Christian Church.

He was married to Orianna Orndorff.

Surviving with his wife are a son, Kenneth W. Spiker of Middletown; four sisters, Robie Wymer, Bethel Putman, Phenie Russell, and Irene Orndorff, all of Strasburg; three brothers, Roy Spiker and Kenneth Spiker, both of Strasburg, and Boyd Spiker of Utah; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Riverview Cemetery, Strasburg, with the Rev. J. Alexander officiating.

Friends may call anytime this morning at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg.

James L. Benson
James “Ben” Lloyd Benson, 80, of Joppatown, Md., formerly of Winchester, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at his home.

Mr. Benson was born July 8, 1920, in Elkton. He was retired from Friendship Dental Laboratory in Baltimore and lectured at the Maryland Dental School. He had owned a dental laboratory in Winchester for 28 years and served as manager of Cooperative Dental Laboratory.

He attended Boston University and graduated from the Boston School of Mechanical Dentistry in 1954.

He was a radarman first class in the Navy and served in World War II and the Korean War. He was an active member of the Coast Guard auxiliary.

He was a member of the Elks Club in Winchester.

Surviving are his wife, Beatrice Miller; two sons, Rodney Benson of Baltimore and Jeffrey Benson of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; a daughter, Joy Campbell of Richmond; and five grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at E.F. Lassahn Funeral Home, Kingsville, Md. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Priscilla L. Dailey
Priscilla L. Dailey, 60, of Frederick County, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.

Ms. Dailey was born Sept. 7, 1940, in Ridge, W.Va., the daughter of Lawrence R. and Hazel Brannon Dailey. She was a private duty health care sitter and had worked in produce at National Fruit Product Co.

She was a member of Winchester Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Izaac Walton League.

Surviving are two brothers, Donald R. Dailey of Hagerstown, Md., and Ellwood R. Dailey Sr. of Frederick County.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, with the pastor of the Seventh-day Adventist Church officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

Phyllis J. Holloway
Phyllis J. Chinn Holloway, 61, of Alexandria, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at her home.

Mrs. Holloway was district manager of the Maid Brigade and a graduate of Mount Vernon High School. She had formerly worked for The Maids in Vienna and had been a construction coordinator and customer service representative with Budget Rent a Car. She was a telephone company operator in the 1950s.

She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Alexandria.

Surviving are a son, Rickey Norris of Alexandria; three sisters, Judy Carter of Winchester and Virginia Campbell and June Thomas, both of Alexandria; and a brother, Chester Chinn of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Alexandria.

Richard R. Frederick, 82, of 165 Stuart Drive, Winchester, died Friday, March 2, 2001, in a local nursing home.

Winifred Y. Clore
Winifred Yost Clore, 76, of Culpeper, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, in America House Assisted Living, Culpeper.

Mrs. Clore was born in Winchester, the daughter of Edwin C. and Ruth Talbert Yost. She was co-owner of Clore Funeral Home and Zeuswyn Farm.

She was a supporter of St. Luke’s School in Culpeper and the Northern Virginia 4-H Center in Front Royal. She was a member of Culpeper Country Club.

She hosted young cancer patients from Camp Fantastic for many years at Zeuswyn Farm.

She was married to James Carlton “Zeus” Clore for 48 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Victoria Clore McGregor of Columbia, S.C., and Susan Clore Caldwell of Culpeper; a son, James Carlton Clore Jr. of Madison; a sister, Lois Boyce of Berryville; a brother, Edwin C. Yost Jr. of Valrico, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hebron Lutheran Church, Madison.

Memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Foundation, St. Luke’s Lutheran School, 1200 Old Rixeyville Road, Culpeper 22701.
