Junior L. Unger
Junior Lee Unger, 70, of 41 Stone Meadow Court, Winchester, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Unger was born Aug. 29, 1930, in Oakland, W.Va., the son of Mae Dick Unger. He was an orchardist and owned Frog Eye Orchards.
He was a private in the Army during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of Relief United Methodist Church.
He married Nannie Olan Brannon on Sept. 5, 1950, in Williamsport.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Gregory Lee Unger of Stephens City and John Kevin Unger of Providence, R.I.; four daughters, Susan Marie Goodman of Martinsburg, W.Va., Judy Unger Fravel of Stephens City, and Gail Unger Smith and Jody Dee Hawse, both of Winchester; two brothers, Dennis Unger of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Vernon Unger of Richmond; three sisters, Mary Carter and Lola Rinker, both of Winchester, and Catherine Dawson of Berkeley Springs; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Relief United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert C. Blinn officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, with military honors by Winchester VFW Post 2123.
Pallbearers will be Earl Collins, Bill Campbell, Jim M. Douglas, Ronnie Green, Frank T. Allanson, and Ronnie Palmer.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.

Cora F. Carter
Cora Frances Carter, 84, of 27 S. Cameron St., Winchester, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. Carter was born Jan. 22, 1917, in Stephens City, the daughter of John E. and Katie Washington Shields. She was a member of John Mann United Methodist Church, the church choir, and the Golden Girls Club. She was an avid photographer.
She was married to Hunter L. Carter.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary F. Carter of Winchester; four sisters, Elizabeth Butler of Winchester, A. Josephine Strain of Boston, Dorothy F. Cartwright of Petersburg, and Charlotte Andrews of Wilmington, Del.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Joyce A. Ambers, and a son, Jimmy E. Carter, are deceased.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at John Mann United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lorenzo Hill officiating. Burial will be in Orrick Cemetery, Winchester.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.

Robert L. Anderson Jr.
Robert L. Anderson Jr., 61, of Winchester, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, in Harrisonburg.
Mr. Anderson was born Oct. 27, 1939, in Winchester, the son of Robert L. and Dorothy L. Legge Anderson. He worked in ground maintenance at Project Hope. He was in the Coast Guard and was a member of Oakton Church of the Brethren.
Surviving with his mother, of Winchester, are two sons, R. Michael Anderson of Lowell, Mass., and Eric Todd Anderson of Seaside, Calif.; two daughters, Kimberly A. Syed of Harrisonburg and Debra L. Howard of Saugus, Mass; a brother, Gary M. Anderson of Albuquerque, N.M.; and nine grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Jones Funeral Home, with Pastor Chuck Davis officiating. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Virgil Armel, Burt Kaplan, Earl Ragland, Dana LaFever, Paul Shell, Robert Fawcett, Denice Harbaulgh, and Judy Lloyd.

Sharon Marie McFarland, 51, of 517 York Ave., Winchester, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.
Ms. McFarland was born Dec. 14, 1949, in Winchester, the daughter of Michael Joseph and Loveda Udella Oates Spence. She was a manager at Peoples Cleaners and a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Feathers of Winchester; a son, James C. McFarland of Winchester; a sister, Elizabeth Pearson of Winchester; three brothers, Louis K. Spence, James T. Spence, and Edward Spence, all of Winchester; and a grandchild.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Father John A. Ziegler officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Marshall Williams Sr.
Marshall D. Williams Sr., 75, of 115 Augustine Ave., Charles Town, W.Va., died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Mr. Williams was born June 3, 1925, in Rocky Mount, N.C., the son of Matthew and Ada Williams. He was a retired groomsman at Charles Town Race Track and a member of Syvannah Baptist Church in Rippon, W.Va.
He was married to Martha Galloway.
Surviving are a daughter, Raymonda Wilcher of Martinsburg, W.Va.; a son, Marshall D. Williams Jr. of Martinsburg; two sisters, Emma Lee Petway of Rocky Mount and Hattie Mae Moore of Fredericksburg; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Syvannah Baptist Church, Rippon, with Pastor Lawrence Wilson Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Myerstown Cemetery, Myerstown, W.Va.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Kenneth A. Wymer
Kenneth Alden “Bud” Wymer, 61, of 60 Penny Lane, Strasburg, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Wymer was born Feb. 27, 1939, in Winchester, the son of Kenneth Riley and Daphna Clayton Wymer. He was a housing inspector with Fairfax County.
He had retired with the rank of captain after 20 years in the Marine Corps and had served in Vietnam. He was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church.
He was married to Elaine Rhodes.
Surviving with his wife are a stepson, Stuart Nixdorff of Walpole, Mass.; two sisters, Margie C. Clevenger of Middletown and Loretta W. Elbon of Fairfield; two brothers, F. Edward Wymer of Strasburg and John L. Wymer of New Market; and a grandchild.
A private service is planned.

Wilda Lillian Combs, 82, of HC-63, Box 1280, Romney, W.Va., died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at her home.
Mrs. Combs was born Nov. 20, 1918, in Baker, W.Va., the daughter of Branson and Anna Lee Link Miller. She was a homemaker and attended the Church of the Brethren.
She married Wardney S. Combs on July 18, 1941, in Fulks Run. Mr. Combs died Sept. 23, 1977.
Surviving are two daughters, Phyliss Norris of Romney and Carol Timbrook of Shanks, W.Va.; four sons, Monte “Gene” Combs and Robert “Bob” Combs, both of Augusta, W.Va., and Daniel O. Combs and Jerry “Joe” Combs, both of Romney; a sister, Rita Largene Wimer of Dale City; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tearcoat Church of the Brethren, Augusta, with the Rev. Woodrow Brown and Pastor Ken Dolan officiating. Burial will be in Tearcoat Cemetery.
