Floyd R. Gladden
Floyd Robert “Bobby” Gladden, 66, of Clearbrook, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Gladden was born March 10, 1936, in Charleston, W.Va., the son of Gardner and Martha Parkinson Gladden.
He married Donna E. Cox on Dec. 23, 1992, in Winchester.
Mr. Gladden had been the owner/operator of Bobby Gladden Excavating Service.
He was a member of the Little Mountain United Methodist Church and the Berryville Moose Lodge. He was a member and past state president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #824.
Surviving with his wife of Clearbrook; his mother, Martha Mason, of Stephens City; are two sons, Robert Gladden and Elmo Gladden, both of Winchester; one daughter, Brenda K. Custer of Martinsburg; two brothers, Roger Mason and Gary Mason, both of Winchester; two sisters, Gilda Mason Rotz of Stephens City and Betty Williams of Winchester; and four grandchildren.
A son, Brian L. Gladden, is deceased.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Michael R. Phelps and Associates Funeral Directors, Stephens City, with Rev. Anthony A. Wadsworth officiating.
Burial will follow in Little Mountain United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral.

Daleann Waddell
Daleann Waddell, 46, of Clarke County, died Friday, April 5, 2002, at the Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Waddell was born March 23, 1956, in Johnstown, Pa., the daughter of Dale and Janet Grambling.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Shenandoah Farms Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company.
She married Clarence J. Waddell on May 8, 1980, in Warren County.
Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Jennifer Waddell and a son, Jacob Waddell, both of Clarke County; and a brother, Charles Hritz of North Carolina.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel in Berryville with Rev. Betty Sue Redding and Peach Hogg officiating.
Burial will be at Rockland Cemetery in Warren County.
Pallbearers will be Charles Tinsman Jr., Tim Cook, Buddy Cook, Jeff Taylor, Tony Lohr, and Chad Sears.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mary E. Lucas
Mary Elizabeth Bott Lucas, 72, of 201 Hawse Village, Baker, W.Va., died Friday, April 5, 2002, in Civista Medical Center in LaPlata, Md.
Ms. Lucas was born Feb. 9, 1930, in Baker, the daughter of Roy G. and Daisy B. Dove Bott.
She was retired from government service as a cashier at the Air Force Commissary.
Ms. Lucas is survived by one son, Robert W. Lucas, of Waldorf, Md; and three grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday in McKee Funeral Home Chapel in Baker, W.Va., with Pastor Joyce Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Baker Run Cemetery.

Julia C. Smith of 122 Cecil St., Winchester, died Friday, April 5, 2002, in Winchester Medical Center.

Ellen A. Garoski
Ellen Atwood Donaldson Garoski, 81, of Roanoke, formerly of Frederick and Warren Counties, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, in Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem.
Mrs. Garoski was born Dec. 28, 1921 in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Malcolm B. O’Brien Sr. and Marjorie Harlow O’Brien.
She had worked as a waitress. She was a member of the Winchester Church of God, Godfrey Miller Senior Center, Order of the Eastern Star of Front Royal, and the American Legion Giles B. Cook Post 53 of Front Royal.
She was preceded in death by three husbands: Mahlon C. Atwood Sr, who died April 30, 1986; Thomas G. Donaldson, who died Dec. 29, 1990; and Peter Paul Garoski, who died Dec. 27, 2001.
She is survived by a son, Mahlon C. Atwood Jr. of Front Royal; two daughters, Gloria Jean Atwood-Waller of New Jersey and Tammy Sue Grady of Winchester; three sisters, Jean Perkins of Phippsburg, Mass., Martha Barnett of Easton, Pa., and Marcena Pollitt of Fanwood, N.J.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chad E. Dunford officiating. Burial is at Shenandoah Memorial Park in Frederick County with military honors by VFW Post 2123.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Grady, Gene “Bud” Trussell Jr., Paul D. Wiley, Tommy Heslep, Robert Grove, Robert Durham, and Ricky Smoot.

Clifford B. Pierce
Clifford Booth Pierce, 82, of 305 West Leicester St., Winchester, died Friday, April 5, 2002, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Pierce was born January 25, 1920, the daughter of John Thomson and Conde Bridges Booth.
She was a homemaker and a member of Christ Episcopal Church since 1946.
She was a charter member of a Winchester Community Bridge club.
She married Noble Childs Pierce Jr. in November 1946, in Ashland. Mr. Pierce died in July 1984.
Surviving are two sons, N. Scott Pierce of Statesboro, Ga., and Clifford B. Pierce of Midlothian; a sister Conde Booth Palmore of Ashland; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Episcopal Church with Rev. Douglas McCaleb officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester.
Pallbearers will be John Patrick Sahm, J. Victor Arthur III, James Baden, Ronald Hopkins, Robert S. Pierce and Russell Vaughn Palmore Jr.

Raymond E. Chateauneuf Sr., 89, of 1086 Hudson Hollow Road, Stephens City, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Chateauneuf was born Aug. 13, 1912, in Fitchburg, Mass., the son of Helmery and Bertha Chateauneuf. He was a retired supervisor with National Fruit Product Co. and a Navy veteran of World War II.
He married Florence Kipps on Dec. 23, 1935, in Gaithersburg, Md.
Surviving with his wife, are a son, Raymond Chateauneuf Jr. of Stephens City; a daughter, Betty Stickley of Winchester; two sisters, Dorothy Rogers of Tiverton, R.I., and Lois Maltz of Hernandez, Fla.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Shenandoah Memorial Park, with the Rev. Anthony Wadsworth officiating.

H. Elizabeth McCune, 92, of HC-60, Box 30, Paw Paw, W.Va., died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, in Hampshire Health Care Center, Romney, W.Va.
Mrs. McCune was born Sept. 1, 1909, in Chicago, the daughter of Albert and Agnes Horacek Fletcher. She was a retired bookkeeper.
She was married to Robert McCune Jr., who died Jan. 3, 1994.
Surviving are a son, Robert P. McCune of Paw Paw; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, W.Va., with Pastor Robert Jeffreys officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Levels, W.Va.

Pearl C. Ritter, 85, of Frederick County, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Ritter was born Jan. 4, 1916, in Frederick County, the daughter of Samuel L. Carter Jr. and Lula Bell Raby Carter.
She was a homemaker.
She married Richard L. Ritter in 1933 in Hagerstown, Md. Mr. Ritter died Oct. 14, 1982.
Surviving are a son, James L. Ritter of Stephenson; a sister, Ada Strosnyder of Winchester; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

John D. Thomas Jr.
John Davis “Uncle Jack” Thomas Jr., 96, of Round Hill, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, in a local nursing home.
Mr. Thomas was born April 26, 1905, in Loudoun County, the son of John Davis and Willie Mae Lickliter Thomas.
He was a dairy farmer and a trainer of bird dogs. He was a member of the Episcopalian faith and a supported 4-H Horse and Pony Club activities.
He was married to Bertha Crockett, who died in 1974.
Surviving are a stepson, Dr. J.B. Jones of Blacksburg; a stepdaughter, Barbara Lee Jones of Berryville; five step grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Grace Episcopal Church, Berryville, with the Rev. Canon Dwight L. Brown officiating.

M. Louise Tucker
Marilyn Louise Tucker, 70, of Old Fields, W.Va., formerly of Morgantown, W.Va., died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, in Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, W.Va.
Mrs. Tucker was born May 27, 1931, in Parkersburg, W.Va., the daughter of Furman and Belle Hardman Smith.
She was married to Dr. Harold E. Tucker.
Surviving with her husband, are two sons, David Tucker of Sykesville, Md., and Martin Tucker of Falling Waters, W.Va.; two daughters, Dian Tucker DuBois of Falling Waters and Melody Tucker Ritchie of Winchester; a half brother, Gary McFarland of Warren, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bridgeport Cemetery, Bridgeport, W.Va., with Pastor Steven Regan officiating.

Kevin Delane Frock, 37, of Dale City, formerly of Stephens City, died Sept. 16, 2001, in Dale City.
Mr. Frock was born March 9, 1964, in Washington, D.C., the son of Harry Franklin and Hazel McGraw Frock.
Surviving with his father, of Manassas, and his mother, of Front Royal, are his maternal grandmother, Goldie McGraw of Sophia; two brothers, Franklin Eugene Frock of Dale City and John Wesley Frock of Stephens City; and a sister, Peggy Elizabeth Frock Montoney of Stephens City.

Mary Lou Jenkins, 50, of Rippon, W.Va., died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Jenkins was born Feb. 23, 1951, in Charles Town, W.Va., the daughter of Leo William and Lilly Kathryn Jenkins.
She was a homemaker and a member of Rippon Episcopal Church.
Surviving with her father, of Rippon, are a brother, Gregory Jenkins Sr. of Rippon; and a sister, Connie Richards of Rippon.
