Virginia, U.S., Marriage Records, 1936-2014

James G. Dye Sr.
James Garland Dye Sr., 70, of Roanoke, died Feb. 10, 2001.

He was born May 16, 1930, in Lebanon, the son of Caney Davis and Grace Smith Dye of Winchester.

Mr. Dye retired from Norfolk-Southern Corp., and was the owner of Hollins Hardware. He was the former owner/operator of Runnymeade Farm and the Fair View Farm on Apple Pie Ridge.

He was a member and Elder of Northminster Presbyterian Church, served on the board of directors of Member One Federal Credit Union, was a member and past president of the Williams Road Lions Club, and a member of the Antique Auto Club of America.

In addition to his wife of 49 years, Nancy Smith Dye, he is survived by a daughter, Nancy Dye Cundiff of Wirtz; two sons, James G. Dye Jr. of Harrisonburg and Robert Davis Dye of Roanoke; two brothers, Herbert H. Dye and Alfred V. Dye, both of Winchester; and a grandson.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Northminister Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David A. Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Simpson-Tharp Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke.

James Geanious
James “Jim” Geanious, 81, of King, N.C., formerly of Winchester, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, in Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, N.C.

Mr. Geanious was born Oct. 15, 1919, in Martinsburg, W.Va., the son of Peter and Villa Lemons Geanious. He retired in 1994 as manager of K&W Cafeteria in Winston-Salem and had managed the Town & Country Restaurant.

He had retired in 1971 from Dulles-Washington International Airport.

He was a driver for Friendship Fire Company in Winchester from 1954 to 1964.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, flying 30 missions over Europe, and served in the Korean War.

He was married to Dorothy Frasier.

Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Regina Geanious Brugin and Jean Lawrence High, both of King, and Kay Lawrence Picciuto of Toms Brook; a son, Ernest Hamilton Lawrence of Newport News; a sister, Jean Geanious Armel of Winchester; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Slate Funeral Home, King, with the Rev. Randy Hillman officiating. A graveside service will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, at a later date.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Branson O. Himelright
Branson O. Himelright, 97, of Capon Springs, W.Va., died Thursday, February 8, 2001, in Welcome Haven Nursing Home, Winchester.

Arrangements with Giffin Funeral Home, Capon Bridge, W.Va., are incomplete.

Leathy A. Hott
Leathy Ann Hott, 91, of Kirby, W.Va., died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, in Hampshire Long Term Care Unit, Romney, W.Va.

Mrs. Hott was born Oct. 19, 1909, in Kirby, the daughter of Lee and Martha Mitchell Kline. She was a homemaker and a member of Kirby Assembly of God Church.

She was married to Eston David Hott, who died June 30, 1975.

Surviving are a foster daughter, Betty Racey of Kirby; a sister, Ethyl Hose of Petersburg, W.Va.; a brother, Lawrence Kline of Moorefield, W.Va.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A daughter, Bonnie Catherine Hott, is deceased.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, W.Va., with the Rev. Joe Eversole and the Rev. William Fout officiating. Burial will be in Hott’s Chapel Cemetery, Kirby.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Walter I. Mayers
Walter I. Mayers, 74, of 442 Old Charles Town Road, Stephenson, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at his home.

Mr. Mayers was born May 19, 1926, in Bates Mill, N.J., the son of Ivan and Etta Crowley Mayers. He had worked as a dispatcher for Romney Volunteer Rescue Squad and had been a machinist at RCA in Camden, N.J., for 35 years.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of College Park Church of Christ in Winchester.

He had competed in marksmanship competitions and re-enacted Civil War battles as a member of the 7th Cavalry Infantry.

He married Audrey Wolford on Oct. 15, 1988, in Winchester.

Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Jayne Mayers of Sarasota, Fla.; a sister, Norman Popsilil of Cherry Hill, N.J.; a stepson, Lynn P. Anderson of Winchester; six stepdaughters, Virginia Kaylor, Gloria Brill, Helen Jenkins, Judy Cook, and Juanita Stephenson, all of Winchester, and Kathie Seals of Palm Harbor, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A son, Kenneth Walter Mayers, and a stepson, Elias G. Anderson Jr., are deceased.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at College Park Church of Christ, Winchester, with Pastor Dan Raymond officiating. Burial will be in Galilee Christian Church Cemetery, Winchester.

Pallbearers will be Charles G. Moton, Charles Moton Jr., Tomas Moton, David Moton, Joseph A. Moton, and Julian Arbaugh.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Giffin Funeral Home, Capon Bridge, W.Va.

Memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester 22601.

Justin T. Walker
Justin Tyler Walker, infant son of Michael and Maneika Shifflett Walker of Bunker Hill, W.Va., died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, in University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.

He was born Feb. 6, 2001, at the university medical center.

Surviving with his parents are his maternal grandparents, Louis and Shelvey Riggleman Shifflett of Stephens City; and his paternal grandparents, Charles and Donna Walker of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.

Jones Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Donald H. Grim
Donald Henry Grim, 71, of Fox Glen, Kearneysville, W.Va., died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, in Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.

Mr. Grim was born March 20, 1929, in Ridings Chapel, Frederick County, the son of Carroll A. and Alice Licklider Grim. He was a truck driver for O’Boyle Tank Lines in Martinsburg, W.Va., for 21 years, for Lisa Motor Lines in Texas for seven years, and for the former Novick Transfer Co. in Winchester. He had been a security guard at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.

He was a 1947 graduate of Stephens City High School and a member of Moose Lodge 948 of Charles Town, W.Va. He was an honorary member of Jackson-Perks American Legion Post 71, Charles Town.

Surviving are his companion of 18 years, Ramona Jane Shaff; two sons, David M. “Mickey” Grim and Brian L. Grim, both of Winchester; two daughters, Nioga Mills of Williamsport, Md., and Donna Smith of Kingsport, Tenn.; a sister, Mildred Brumback of Middletown; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A private burial is planned.

Larry D. Burcham
A graveside service for Larry Dale Burcham, whose obituary was published Feb. 2, will be at 2 p.m. today in Panorama Memorial Gardens, Waterlick, with the Rev. David Howard officiating. Military honors will be accorded by Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg.

Edwin O. Rollins
Edwin Oliver Rollins, 80, of Manassas, formerly of Vienna, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at his home.

His first wife, Dorothy Fowler Rollins, is deceased.

Surviving are his wife, Alice Rollins; a son, Edward A. Rollins of Woodbridge; two daughters, Pamela G. Sacknoff of Burke and Amy L. Scrader of West End, N.C.; five stepchildren, Mark E. Galbraith of Scottsville, Jeannette A. Galbraith and L. Lynn Parker, both of Manassas, Danita G. Hewitt of Winchester, and Bonnie G. King of Ashburn; three grandchildren; and nine step grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Lee Funeral Home, Manassas. Burial will be in Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Max G. Myers
Max Grantham Myers, 52, of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at his home.

Mr. Myers was born Nov. 3, 1948, in Martinsburg, the son of Grantham A. and Kathryn Whitacre Myers. He was a self-employed carpenter.

He was a 1967 graduate of Martinsburg High School and a member of Prop Busters.

He was married to Betty Sue Harrell.

Surviving with his wife are a son, Max G. Myers Jr. at home; a daughter, Monica G. Myers at home; and a sister, Kathryn Myers Bivens of Martinsburg.

A funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Inwood Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. James Schuelke and the Rev. Ellis Hess officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the South Berkeley Chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Inwood.

June N. Lloyd
June Neff Lloyd, 80, of Berryville, formerly of Loudoun County, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. Lloyd was born June 2, 1920, in Loudoun County, the daughter of John and Daisie Neff. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Surviving are 11 children, John Larry Lloyd of Upperville; Judy Casey of Lincoln; Jerry Davis Lloyd, Anne Wilson, and James Gordon Lloyd, all of Berryville; Linda Watts, Hope Lloyd-Stewart, and Alton Kelly Lloyd, all of Bluemont; Mary Jo Stine of Rectortown; Dawn L. Price of Stephens City; and Charles Glen Lloyd of Winchester; a sister, Esther Rose of Leesburg; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Ebenezer Cemetery, Round Hill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Home, Purcellville.

Jane S. Williams
Jane Seibert Williams, 80, of Inwood, W.Va., died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at her home.

Mrs. Williams was born Sept. 30, 1920, in Berkeley County, W.Va., the daughter of Guy C. and Mabel Evans Seibert. She retired from Perfection Garment Co. in 1982.

She was a graduate of Hagerstown High School and a member of Cedar Grove Christian Church.

She was married to Bruce B. Williams.

Surviving are a daughter, Martha Jane Wanger of Inwood; a son, David Seibert Clark of Inwood; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the South Berkeley Chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Inwood, with the Rev. Leroy K. “Skip” Hurley Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Justin T. Walker

Geraldine F. Schiavone
Geraldine Frances Schiavone, 88, of 1610 Vancouver St., Winchester, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at her home.

Mrs. Schiavone was born July 7, 1912, in Buffalo, N.Y., the daughter of John E. and Katherine Carmody Curry. She was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

She married Daniel C. Schiavone on Dec. 1, 1945, in Buffalo.

Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Ann Armstrong of Fairfax Station and Barbara J. Schiavone of Suffolk; two sons, Dr. Daniel C. Schiavone Jr. of Winchester and John F. Schiavone of Atlanta; and 11 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, with Father Stanley Krempa officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.

A Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, where the family will receive friends until 9 p.m.
