Edward A. Lehman
Edward A. Lehman, 85, of Bunker Hill, W.Va. died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at his home.
He was born March 7, 1915, in Whitestone, N.Y., the son of Julius and Sophie Morrso Lehman.
He was a manager of the Christian Book Store in New York City and a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Winchester.
He served in the U.S. Air Force, was a veteran of World War II, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Anna Haffner Lehman of Bunker Hill; a son, Charles E. Lehman of Westminster, Calif. two brothers, George and William Lehman, both of New York, a sister, Gladys Hardy of New York; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Haefker Lehman
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the South Berkeley Chapel of Brown Funeral Home in Inwood with the Rev. Albert F. Quoss officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery with military graveside services by the Veterans Combined Honor Guard of Martinsburg, W.Va.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the South Berkeley Chapel.

Walter Tennyson May, 85, of White Stone died Sunday Dec. 10, 2000, at his home.

Ella V. Miller
Ella Viola Miller, 78, of Cross Junction died Saturday Dec. 9, 2000, in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Miller was born Feb. 5, 1922, the daughter of Howard C. and Ada Plank Spielman.
She married Guy W. Miller June 19, 1944, in Romney, W.Va.
She worked at National Fruit Products in Winchester and was a member of Ebenezer Christian Church near Gore.
Survivors in addition to her husband include three sons Theodore W. “Nick” Miller of Gore, Howard W. Miller of Winchester, and Robert T. Miller of Cross Junction; three daughters, Donna Marie Duckworth of Winchester; Opal M. Shanholtz of Hudson, Fla., and Dorothy J. Miller of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; a sister, Louise Grant of Ohio; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A son, Charles Stephen Miller Sr., is deceased.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Giffin Funeral Home in Capon Bridge, W.Va., with Pastor Paul Markee officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are her grandsons.

Seatta M. Minifield
Seatta M. Minifield, 91, of Stephens City died Friday Dec. 8, 2000, in Winchester.
Mrs. Minifield was born March 23, 1909, the daughter of Jim and Annie Washington Berger.
She was married to Frank Minifield.
She was a member of the World Wide Church of God in Strasburg.
Survivors include two daughters, Catherine Wallace of Manassas, and Virginia and Mary Hill both of Winchester; a son, Kenneth Minifield of Toms Brook; a sister, Esther Gaither of Winchester; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
A daughter, Frances Washington, is deceased.
A funeral will be at 12 p.m. Tuesday at the Cartwright Funeral Home with Pastor William Linthicum officiating.
Pallbearers will be the grandsons.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
William A. Rooker Jr.
William A. “Bill” Rooker Jr., 81, of 530 W. Cecil St., Winchester died Saturday Dec. 9, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 28, 1919, in Indianapolis, Ind., the son of William A. and Ionona Sterrett Rooker.
He married Gretna S. Rooker Dec. 18, 1948, in Winchester. She died Oct. 20, 2000.
A graduate of Martinsburg High School, he was financial secretary and treasurer of Iron Workers Local Union #5 for 53 years.
He was a member of Winchester Moose Lodge, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Izaak Walton League, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Henry Knox Field Lodge#349 A. F. and A.M., Kena Temple Shrine in Fairfax, and Winchester Shrine Club.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 140th Timber Wolves and received the Purple Heart and rank of Staff Sergeant.
Survivors include a son, Steven T. Rooker of Winchester.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Anthony A. Wadsworth. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Shields, Orrin Aronhalt, Carroll Bridgeforth, Fred Barnes, Larry Daniel, and Steve Harty.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A masonic service by the Winchester Hiram Lodge #21 will be at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the visitation.
Oliver D. Shank Jr.
Oliver DeWitt Shank Jr., 87, died Friday Dec. 8, 2000, at his daughter’s home in Williamsburg.
He was born April 14, 1913, in Harrisonburg, the son of Oliver DeWitt and Margie Estie Ruebush Shank.
He married Margaret Martin Boosey Jan. 31, 1942.
He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, serving with the U.S. Army Intelligence.
He was an owner, breeder, and trainer of race horses and a board member of the Horseman’s Benevolent and Protective Association from 1993-96.
Survivors include three sons, Oliver DeWitt Shank III of Gloucester, Mass., Rawle Chandler Shank of Lynchburg, and Martin William Shank of Charlottesville; two daughters, Margaret Cecil Shank of Charlottesville and Elisabeth Boosey Hollis of Williamsburg; three sisters, Margaret Chandler Fretwell of Winchester, Margery Ruebush McGrath of Kinsale, and Elizabeth Ann Deadrich of McGaheysville; and six grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lindsay Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Arrangements are being handled by Bucktrout of Williamsburg.

Mary Lee Wilder, 90, of August, W.Va. died Saturday Dec. 9, 2000, in the Winchester Medical Center.

Theresa Williamson
Theresa Williamson, 82, of Mt. Healthy Christian Home, Cincinnati, Ohio, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, in the Mercy Franciscan Mt. Airy Hospital.
She was born March 21, 1918, in Rollwitz, Neb., the daughter of Louis and Mary Hoehn Grams.
She was married to Nathan Williamson.
She was a member of the Church of Christ at Mountainview.
Survivors include two sons, Nathan Williamson III of Providence, R.I., and George Williamson of Cincinnati, Ohio; a daughter, Mary Edith Simmons of Findley, Ohio; five brothers, Ernest, Raymond, Leroy, Lindley, and Kenneth Grams; a sister, Rosa Shaul; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Julia Theresa Williamson, is deceased.
A funeral will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.

John G. Goodwin
John Gravatt Goodwin, 80, of Westminster-Canterbury Drive, Winchester, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, in University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore.
Mr. Goodwin was born March 23, 1920, in Winchester, the son of Robert Archer and Emily Gravatt Goodwin. He retired as president of J.V. Arthur Insurance Co. in Winchester.
He served in the Army during World War II, achieving the rank of captain.
He had served as president of the Winchester Exchange Club and chairman of the Winchester Parking Authority. He was a past president of the Virginia Association of Insurance Agents.
He established Lake St. Clair in Frederick County and was the motivating force behind the development of Shenandoah Valley Westminster-Canterbury.
He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, where he served as a senior warden and vestryman.
He married Phyllis Fowle on June 22, 1946, in Winchester.
Surviving are a son, John Gravatt Goodwin Jr. of Flagstaff, Ariz.; two daughters, Betsy Goodwin Joslin of Alexandria and Phyllis Goodwin Hasty of Bluefield; a brother, Dr. Robert Archer Goodwin of Nashville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today at Shenandoah Valley Westminster-Canterbury, with the Rev. David Knight officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Gravatt Goodwin Jr., William David Hasty Jr., William David Hasty III, John Christopher Hasty, Charles Loring Joslin IV, and Kenneth Scott Proctor.

Mrs. Clark was born April 23, 1926, in Virginia, the daughter of Clarence and Clare Johnson Grim. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Faith Revival Center, Albin.
She was married to Seth Clark.
Surviving are three daughters, Elaine Sue Moesta of Winchester, Mazie Hawkins of Boyce, and Della Clark of Richmond; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville, with the Rev. Cletus Palmer officiating.

Mary V. DiFrank
Mary Virginia Dunn DiFrank, 85, of Osprey, Fla., formerly of Ashburn, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, in Winchester.
Mrs. DiFrank was born March 31, 1915, in Gypsy, Mo., the daughter of Elmer and Mildred Dunn. She worked for the U.S. Government and had retired.
She was married to Mario DiFrank. Mr. DiFrank died on May 17, 2000.
Surviving are a daughter, Jacquelyn T. Sowers of Winchester; two sisters, Helen Trantham and Betty McIntosh; two granddaughters; and three great-granddaughters.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Loudoun Funeral Chapel, Leesburg, with the Rev. Osborn Hough officiating. Entombment will be in Union Cemetery, Leesburg.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
