Virginia, U.S., Marriage Records, 1936-2014

Ronald N. Miller
Ronald Neil Miller, 63, of Paw Paw, W.Va., died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at his home.

Mr. Miller was born Nov. 21, 1937, in Paw Paw, the son of Rodney A. and Glenna Sirbaugh Miller.

He was a plumber and carpenter and was retired from PPG Industry. He had worked at Cives Steel in Winchester and had been an apprentice for Bolten Forge of the B&O Railroad.

He was a member and treasurer of Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Paw Paw.

He married Sue C. Kidwell on July 23, 1956.

Surviving with his wife, are a daughter, Karen S. Spencer of Paw Paw; two sons, Jeffrey Miller and Travis Duke Miller, both of Paw Paw; two sisters, Delores Lyons of Paw Paw and Sue Ann Whitacre of Paw Paw; a brother, William K. Miller of Paw Paw; and two grandchildren.

A funeral was Sunday at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Earl Travis, Pastor Norman Landis, and Pastor J.B. Ellis officiating. Burial was in Camp Hill Cemetery, Paw Paw.

Kimble Funeral Home, Paw Paw, handled arrangements.

Charles W. Racey
Charles W. Racey, 85, of Ewings Lane, Stephens City, died Saturday March 24, 2001, at the home of his sister.

Mr. Racey was born Sept. 19, 1915, in Fawcett Gap, Frederick County, the son of Robert William and Ruth Williams Racey.

He was a farmer and a member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include a sister, Alcesta R. “Benny” Dyke of Stephenson; and a brother, Lester E. Racey of Winchester.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, Winchester, with Pastor Parker Thompson officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Frederick County.

Pallbearers will be Phillip R. Racey, Paul S. Racey, Granville Dellinger, John Murphy, Max Largent, Allen Baker, Robert D. Racey, and Martin Racey.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Forest Riggleman
Forest “Hoby” Riggleman, 73, of 2737 Senseny Road, Winchester died Friday March 23, 2001, in the Winchester Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 11, 1928, in Hardy County, W.Va., the son of Roy Gipson and Mary Susan Simmons Riggleman.

He was retired from the federal government, Department of Defense, Ft. Belvoir. He was owner and operator of Sky View Acres cattle farm in Frederick County.

He served in the Army during the Korean War, was a member of Berryville Moose Lodge, N.A.L.F., Angus Association, 4-H Club, and attended Rosedale Baptist Church.

He married Mildred Lewis Riggleman July 31, 1948, in Franconia.

Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Riggleman of Springfield; three brothers, Glenn Riggleman of Westernport, Md., Elvin Riggleman and Roy Riggleman Jr., both of Petersburg, W.Va.; and five sisters, Nellie Weatherholtz of Moorefield, W.Va., Mary Ellen Mauzy and Irene Iman, both of Petersburg, W.Va., Vista Eskridge of Winchester, and Dixie Mauzy of Springfield.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Rosedale Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Mayer and Dr. Ken Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the church. Enders and Shirley Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Winchester Medical Center Nursing Scholarship Fund, 1840 Amherst St., Winchester 22601 or to Greenwood Volunteer Fire Co., 809 Greenwood Road, Winchester 22602.

Kermit W. Schroeder Jr.
Kermit William Schroeder Jr., 59, of 732 Treys Drive, Winchester, died Monday, March 26, 2001, in the Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Schroeder was born April 8, 1941, in Milwaukee, the son of Kermit W. and Charlotte Schroeder.

He was vice president of purchasing for National Fruit Product Co. and director of purchasing for Joseph Schlitz Brewing Co. and the Stroh Brewery.

He was a chairman of the board of the Robert E. Rose Memorial Foundation, a board member of the Northwestern Workshops, past president of The ARC of the Northern Shenandoah Valley, and president of Shenandoah Valley Manufacturing Association. He was a member of Izaak Walton League and the Winchester Moose Lodge.

He attended Concordia College in Milwaukee and was in the Army with the 32nd division.

He married Cynthia Ann King April 18, 1964, in Milwaukee.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Jeffery William Schroeder of Chesterfield, Mich., and James Erwin Schroeder of Winchester; two sisters, Suzanne Bothe and Christie Garstecki of Milwaukee; and a grandson.

A funeral will be at Krause Funeral Home, Milwaukee, with burial in Pine Lawn Memorial Park. A local memorial service will be at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Kermit W. Schroeder Trust Fund, c/oARC/NSV, P.O. Box 326, Winchester 22604.

Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, is handling arrangements.

Jane S. Taylor
Jane Scully Taylor, 91, of Greeneville, Tenn., died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, in Wellington Place of Greeneville.

Mrs. Taylor was born Sept. 11, 1909, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of John S. Scully Jr. and Mary Gillespie Scully.

She was educated at Highland Hall and Wellesley College and graduated from Dennison University in Granville, Ohio.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring in Chambersburg, Pa., where her husband was the pastor for 45 years.

She was a member of the Children’s Aid Society, American Association of University Women, Wellesley Club, and Chambersburg Garden Club. She was a Girl Scout and Brownie leader and Cub Scout den mother.

She married the Rev. Rodney T. Taylor in 1935 in Winchester. The Rev. Taylor died Oct. 8, 1995.

Surviving are two daughters, Leanna Taylor Van Buskirk of Greeneville and Jane Taylor Fox of Pittsburgh; a son, Rodney T. Taylor Jr. of San Rafael, Calif.; a brother, John S. Scully III of Winchester; two sisters, Eleanor Scully White of Winchester and Mary Scully Olney of Savannah, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was March 24 at First Presbyterian Church, Greeneville, with the Rev. Dan Donaldson officiating.

A service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring in Chambersburg, with the Rev. Dr. William Harter officiating.

Memorials may be made to Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring Building Fund, North Main Street, Chambersburg 17201.

Velvie F. Wise
Velvie Francis Wise, 88, of Augusta, W.Va., died Monday, March 26, 2001, in Timbrook Adult Home.

Arrangements with McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, are incomplete.

Henry P. Kent
Henry Powell Kent, 83, of Orange Park, Fla., died Sunday, March 25, 2001, in Moosehaven Health Center, Orange Park.

Mr. Kent was born June 14, 1917, in Loudoun County, the son of Joseph and Annie Bolden Kent. He was a caretaker for the Wilmer estate at Bethel, Clarke County.

He was a member of Front Royal Moose Lodge 829 and Berryville Moose Lodge 2139, and was a Moose Legionnaire.

Surviving are two sons, Henry F. Kent and Anthony Kent, both of Stephens City; two sisters, Irene Thomas of Bentonville and Corene Pyne of Millwood; a brother, Buddy Kent of Millwood; two grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery, Clarke County, with the Rev. John Lock officiating. Family and friends may gather from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville, and follow in procession to the cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Springirth Service
A memorial service for Lawrence “Larry” Anthony Springirth, whose obituary was published Dec. 1, 2000, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Wardensville United Methodist Church, Wardensville, W.Va., with the Rev. Luther “Nip” Crites officiating. Inurnment will be private at a later date.

Loy-Giffin Funeral Home, Wardensville, is handling arrangements.

Lillian B. Kern
Lillian Buckwalter Kern, 81, of Senseny Road, Winchester, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at her home.

Mrs. Kern was born Dec. 29, 1919, in Good, W.Va., the daughter of Chester A. and Frona Pyle Buckwalter.

Surviving is a sister, Lucille I. Trenary of Baltimore.

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whitacre.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Jones Funeral Home, Winchester.

Beulah M. Lind
Beulah M. “Boots” Riggleman Huffman Lind, 66, of 1251 Haines Drive, Winchester, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. Lind was born Oct. 31, 1934, in Hampshire County, W.Va., the daughter of James O. Riggleman and Ethelyn Riggleman Keirsey.

She was married to Guy Lind. Her first husband was Donald A. Huffman.

Surviving are a daughter, Deana K. Monroe at home; four sons, Donald A. Huffman Jr., Richard D. Huffman, David J. Huffman, and Robert L. Huffman, all of Winchester; three sisters, Wilda Triggs of Winchester, Percilla Boyer of Warrenton, and Faye Mullenax of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; five brothers, Jack Riggleman, Teddy Riggleman, and George Riggleman, all of Winchester, Douglas Riggleman of Paw Paw, W.Va., and Franklin Riggleman of Fredericksburg; her stepfather, Ralph Keirsey of Winchester; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She had requested that her body be donated to science. No services are planned.

Velvie F. Wise
Velvie Frances Wise, 88, of Augusta, W.Va., died Monday, March 26, 2001, in Timbrook Adult Care Home, Bloomery, W.Va.

Mrs. Wise was born Feb. 13, 1913, in Fabius, W.Va., the daughter of John A. and Susan L. Bott Hines. She was a wallpaper hanger and had been a waitress at Rustic Tavern.

She was married to Charles W. Wise, who died Dec. 2, 1995.

Surviving are a daughter, Violet Malick of Augusta; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, with Pastor Ken Dolan officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Augusta.

Pallbearers will be Michael Lee, Dailey Hogbin, Junior Timbrook, Steve Hines, Loving Hines Jr., and Richard Hines.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lemuel R. Crisemon Sr.
Lemuel Rudolph “Cris” Crisemon Sr., 55, of Linden, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at his home.

Mr. Crisemon was born Jan. 29, 1946, in Linden, the son of Foister E. and Ruth Marshall Crisemon. He was an engineer at Winchester Medical Center and a deacon of Mount Paran Baptist Church in Linden.

He married Michelle Nelson on Aug. 30, 1969, in Linden.

Surviving with his wife and his mother, of Linden, are a son, Lemuel R. Crisemon Jr. of Linden; a brother, Leroy M. Crisemon of Washington, D.C.; and four grandchildren.

A funeral will be at noon Thursday at Mt. Paran Baptist Church, with the Rev. Donald Reid officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Morris Community Cemetery, Hume.

Pallbearers will be Henry Haley, Ervine Affleck, Ricky McLee, Delano Wilson Jr., George Sloane, and Chuck Marshall.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, Front Royal.

A memorial service for Wayne Richardson Lent, whose obituary was published March 13, 2001, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Loy-Giffin Funeral Home, Wardensville, W.Va.

Lewellyn Reynolds, 94, of Front Royal, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, in Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal.
