Carsten H. Schwartz
Carsten Henry Schwartz, 88, of Winchester, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Schwartz was born Nov. 5, 1912, in Jersey City, N.J., the son of Henry and Anna Schwartz. He was chief engineer for Harris Intertype Corp. and retired in 1978.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He married Cecilia Blum in 1947 in New Jersey. Mrs. Schwartz died in 1994.
He was the last member of his immediate family.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Jones Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. James H. Utt officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, with military honors accorded by VFW Post 21.
Pallbearers will be Al Felicio, Bart Tizio, Steve Gray, Mark Turner, Mike Turner, and Terry Turner.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Harry J. Stoehr Jr.
Harry John “Duke” Stoehr Jr., 71, of Millwood, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Stoehr was born May 23, 1929, in St. Petersburg, Fla., the son of Harry John and Mary Ceplaska Wallace Stoehr. He was a welder with the Federal Emergency Management Agency at Mt. Weather and retired after 35 years.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War with the rank of private.
He married Dorothy “Dottie” Miller on Feb. 14, 1955, in Winchester.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Terry Lee Stoehr of Broadway; a daughter, Brenda Stoehr Early of Harrisonburg; and two grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Deacon Edward L. Christianson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Glen Stultz, Garland Jenkins, Leo Fauver, Scott Stoehr, Ray Anderson, and Michael Banks.

Hunter Russell Lloyd, 81, of Rippon, W.Va., died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at his home.

Clara M. Boyer
Clara Mary Boyer, 72, of 4936 Wardensville Grade, Winchester, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, in Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Rockville, Md.
Mrs. Boyer was born July 15, 1928, in Haverhill, Mass., the daughter of Teofil and Mary B. Grybos Brudzisz. She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist faith.
She was married to George Crawford Boyer.
Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Jean B. Verfuerth of Laytonsville, Md., and Barbara A. Boyer of Gaithersburg, Md.; a sister, Cecila Kwarta of Rochester, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, with the Rev. William Erbach Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Strasburg.
Pallbearers will be Eric Verfuerth, Matthew Verfuerth, Ike Phillips, Winston Huffman, Bob North, and Roger Hulver.

Audrey Buracker
Audrey Buracker, 75, of 685 Hites Road, Stephens City, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000 at her home.
Mrs. Buracker was born June 30, 1925, in Gainesville, the daughter of Ernest Malcolm and Bessie Mae McIntosh McCuin. She was a homemaker and a member of Stephens City Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, Post 4946.
She married Louis Hellis Buracker on Feb. 18, 1946. Mr. Buracker died Aug. 8, 1996.
Surviving are two sons, Larry Buracker of York, Maine, and Rodney Buracker of Front Royal; three daughters, Bonnie Armistead of Virginia Beach, Brenda Bernhardt of San Antonio, Texas, and Kathy Wortman of Stephens City; a sister, Vergie Reynolds of Virginia Beach; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with the Rev. Jonathan Bunker officiating. Burial will be in Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas.

Dorothy S. Oudekerk
Dorothy S. Merwin Oudekerk, 79, of Berryville Pike, Winchester, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Oudekerk was born July 21, 1921, in Blue Mountain Lake, N.Y., the daughter of Milford and Dorothy McCain Merwin. She was a secretary for the Department of the Navy and retired in 1986. She had retired from the Glens Falls, N.Y., city school system in 1975.
She married John N. Oudekerk on Nov. 13, 1941, in Glens Falls.
Surviving with her husband are two sons, John N. Oudekerk Jr. of Frederick County and Capt. Milford M. Oudekerk of Valencia, Calif.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Jones Funeral Home, with the Rev. Anthony A. Wadsworth officiating. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

William K. Thomas Sr.
William K. “Bill” Thomas Sr., 74, of Augusta, W.Va., died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Thomas was born March 15, 1926, in Okanoka, W.Va., the son of Olan C. and Lola P. Moore Thomas. He was a retired builder, plumber, and electrician.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Tearcoat Church of the Brethren in Augusta and American Legion Post 91 of Romney, W.Va. He was a former member of Romney Volunteer Fire Department.
He married Maxine E. Pratt on Sept. 13, 1947, in Corrigansville, Md.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Olan A. Thomas and Steve Allen Thomas, both of Augusta; four daughters, Charolette A. Eaton of Stephens City, Shirley J. Bowley of Middletown, Betty J. Thomas of Winchester, and Janet E. Thomas of Richmond; a sister, Hazel Nelson of Fort Ashby, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A son, William K. Thomas Jr., is deceased.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, with Pastor Ken Dolan officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney, with military honors accorded by the Hampshire County (W.Va.) Veterans Organization.

Geraldine H. “Jerri” Daugherty, 77, of Three Churches, W.Va., died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Daugherty was born May 17, 1923, in Shanks, W.Va., the daughter of Lola Shanholtz Pownall. She was the stepdaughter of Claude Pownall. She was a member of Little Capon Baptist Church, Three Churches, where she had perfect attendance for 43 years.
She was married to Guiles “Bud” Daugherty.
Surviving with her husband, are a daughter, Bonnie Saville of Augusta, W.Va.; two sons, James Daugherty and Roger Daugherty, both of Three Churches; three sisters, Norma Lee Clise and Nancy Arnold, both of Romney, W.Va., and Barbara Jean Whelan of Hopatcong, N.J.; a brother, Robert Pownall of Augusta; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Little Capon Baptist Church, with Pastor Robert Jeffreys officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney.

Gid B. Pullen
Gid Brown Pullen, 73, of Front Royal, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Pullen was born July 9, 1927, in Rappahannock County, the son of Charles and Virgie Fincham Pullen. He was a retired forklift operator with the former Avtex Fibers in Front Royal.
He was a member of Front Royal Eagles Aerie 4265.
He married Rachel Pearson on Dec. 23, 1950. Mrs. Pullen died Sept. 10, 1975.
Surviving are three sons, Michael W. “Mike” Pullen, Kevin C. Pullen, and Bruce A. Pullen, all of Front Royal; three brothers, Charles Pullen of Richmond, Bill Pullen of Staunton, and Gene Pullen of Williamsburg; a sister, Barbara Hughes of Springfield; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, Front Royal, with the Rev. Jerry Young officiating. Burial will be in Leeds Cemetery, Hume.
