Mrs. Louise Jane Shane, 75, of 102 Sunset Drive, died Friday Oct. 20, 2000, at her residence.
She was born March 10, 1925, in Shenandoah County, the daughter of Roy and May Lindamood.
She married Arthur Neal Shane on Dec. 7, 1964, in Winchester.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Winchester Church of God.
Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Amber Faye Newlin of Winchester; three sons, Richard D. Bean of Winchester, Charles Bean, Jr. of Kansas City, Mo., and Roy F. Bean of Mount Jackson; three stepsons, Arthur Shane Jr. of Berryville, and Samuel F. and Denzil L. Shane, both of Winchester; a stepdaughter, Patricia Wolford of Winchester; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home Amherst Chapel with Dr. Ken H. Smith officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Burns Jr., Samuel Shane Jr., Richard Newlin, Herbert Michaels, Wilbur Orndorff, and John Bean.

H. Lee Hendrix
Hubert Lee Hendrix, 88, of Greeneville, Tenn., died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in a Greeneville health care facility.
Mr. Hendrix was born March 6, 1912, in Henderson County, Tenn., the son of George Arlington and Mary Angeline Hendrix.
He was the founder and retired leader of H.L. Hendrix Co., a wholesale distribution business specializing in confectionery and pharmaceutical products.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Greeneville since 1937 and served as treasurer, Sunday school teacher and superintendent, lay minister, and choir member.
He married Madge McLain on Dec. 21, 1935. Mrs. Hendrix died in March 2000.
Surviving are a daughter, Gwen Hook of Culpeper; three sons, Tom Hendrix and John Hendrix, both of Greeneville, and Roger Hendrix of Winchester; two sisters, Beatrice Barker of Gibson County, Tenn., and Mildred Russell of Maryville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home, Greeneville. A funeral will follow the visitation at the funeral home.
A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Douglas Mayo and the Rev. Tim Bracken officiating.

Todd P. Burkhart
Todd P. “Burk” Burkhart, 37, of 106 Raven Court, Stephens City, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Burkhart was born April 17, 1963, in Winchester, the son of Kenneth Lester and Martha Mary Miller Burkhart.
He worked for East Coast Fabrication. He was a 1981 graduate of Strasburg High School and a 1985 graduate of Shepherd College.
He was a member of Reliance United Methodist Church, the National Softball Association for Slow and Fast Pitch Umpires, and Strasburg Moose Lodge 403.
Surviving with his mother, of Stephens City, are a sister, Karen Lynn Wharton of Strasburg; and a brother, Scott Alan Burkhart of Stephens City.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Reliance United Methodist Church, with the Rev. William N. Wade officiating. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Craig A. Byrd
Craig Alan Byrd, 46, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Byrd was born Feb. 27, 1954, in Martinsburg, W.Va., the son of Woodrow S. and Mary Virginia Keesecker Byrd. He worked for Verizon Telephone Co. in Martinsburg.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge 1483, and Sons of American Legion Post 60, all of Berkeley Springs.
He was married to Deborah Smith.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Stephanie Smoot of Martinsburg and Sarah Pence Byrd of Berkeley Springs; a sister, Nancy Jo Deeds of Falling Waters, W.Va.; a brother, Roger N. Byrd of Martinsburg; and a grandson.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs, with the Rev. Andrew Cooney officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.

George B. Warden
George Boyd Warden, 87, of Front Royal, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, in Heritage Hall Health Care Center, Front Royal.
Mr. Warden was born April 26, 1913, in Bland County, the son of Riley and Mary Stevens Warden.
Surviving are three sons, Robert Curtis Warden of Pulaski, William Boyd Warden of Delaware, and Raymond R. Warden of Front Royal; four daughters, Marie Renshaw of Idaho, Beatrice Irwin of Olympia, Wash., Kay Utterback of Nokesville, and Donie Webb of Front Royal; three stepchildren, Sarah Blevins of Damascus, and Junior Gusler and Jimmy Gusler, both of Pennsylvania; a brother, Jim Warden of Radford; 23 grandchildren; 15 step grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, Pearisburg, with the Rev. Roger Mullins officiating. Burial will be in Warden Family Cemetery, Pearisburg.

Edwin R. Ebersole
Edwin R. Ebersole, 79, of Hagerstown, Md., formerly of Winchester, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Mr. Ebersole was born Oct. 28, 1920, in Winchester, the son of Ollie and Tella Brewer Ebersole. He retired in 1986 from J. Edw. Cochran & Co. Inc.
He was a 1939 graduate of Handley High School. He served in the Army with the Headquarters Company, 331st Infantry, 83rd Division in Normandy, Brittany Peninsula, Hurtgen Forest, Belgium Bulge, and Rhineland.
He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, Morris Frock Post 42 of the American Legion, and Elks Lodge 378 of Hagerstown. He was past master of Friendship Lodge 84 AF&AM and a member of Ali Ghan Temple A.A.O.N.M.S.
He and his wife, Caroline Ebersole, married July 18, 1942.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Patricia Ann Muritz of Hagerstown and Barbara Jean Simmons of Smithsburg, Md.; two sons, Edwin R. Ebersole Jr. and Richard L. Ebersole, both of Hagerstown; a sister, Evangeline Ebersole of Winchester; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Kenneth S. Valentine officiating. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. in Mount Hebron Cemetery.

Henry C. Beeler Jr.
Henry Cyrus “Buck” Beeler Jr., 67, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Beeler was born Jan. 10, 1933, in Morgan County, W.Va., the son of Henry Cyrus and Edith Viola Pritchard Beeler.
He retired in 1992 after 39 years as a plumber with Dawson’s Home Center in Berkeley Springs. He was an avid outdoorsman.
He attended Mt. Garfield School and Berkeley Springs High School. He was an Army veteran stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
He was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs.
He was married to Dorothy Jean Householder for 38 years.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Debbie Smith of Berkeley Springs; a sister, Eleanor Lea Batt of Berkeley Springs; a brother, James E. Beeler of Hancock, Md.; and two granddaughters.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Union Chapel United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs, with Pastor Michael W. Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the church Cemetery, with military honors by the Tri-State Honor Guard.

D. Lee Morgan
D. Lee Morgan, 72, of Shepherdstown, W.Va., died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, in Shenandoah Health Village Center, Charles Town, W.Va.
Mr. Morgan was born May 14, 1928, in Duffields, Jefferson County, W.Va., the son of Edward D. and Emma Lee Louthan Morgan.
He devoted many years to fire and rescue efforts in Jefferson County, where he served as the longtime president of the Fire and Rescue Association and helped develop an emergency communications system.
As a 16-year-old during World War II, he began driving a fire truck for the Shepherdstown, W.Va., Fire Department. He became its chief in 1958.
He was named Jefferson County Citizen of the Year in 1982.
In 1991, he won the President’s Medal from Shepherd College and served on the school’s board of advisers.
He served as a member of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce, the Jefferson County Health Department, and the Jefferson County Planning Commission.
He owned D. Lee Morgan Construction Co. Inc. and formerly worked in the sales development department of Ricketts Construction Co. in Winchester.
He was a lifetime member of New Street United Methodist Church, Shepherdstown, and a 4-H leader.
He married Mary Ann White on June 10, 1953.
Surviving with his wife are three sons, D. L. Morgan, Francis Morgan, and Ross Morgan, all of Shepherdstown; a daughter, Holly Morgan Frye of Shepherdstown; a brother, W. Edward Morgan of Charles Town; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at New Street United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Dee-Ann Dixon, Jack Weise, and James Embry officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown.

Enoch B. Haywood
Enoch Bernard Haywood, 83, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Haywood was born Jan. 27, 1917, in Hawk Run, Pa., the son of Enoch and Sarah Mae Wilson Haywood.
He retired in 1982 after 21 years as a clerk with Pennsylvania Glass Sand Corp. in Berkeley Springs. He was a 1935 graduate of Phillipsburg High School in Phillipsburg, Pa.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60 of Berkeley Springs. He was a member and elder emeritus of Berkeley Springs Presbyterian Church and an avid fisherman.
He was married to Betty Jean Spaide for 52 years.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Lucinda Ann Wojtkowiak of Berkeley Springs; a son, Thomas David Haywood of Raleigh, N.C.; two sisters, Mabel Stafford of Woodstown, N.J., and Mildred Kreps of Williamsport, Md.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Berkeley Springs Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Robert S. Osborne officiating. Burial will be private in Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville, Pa.

Virginia H. Marsh
Virginia Hoffman Marsh, 95, of Trinity Healthcare, Columbus, Miss., formerly of Winchester, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, in Columbus.
Mrs. Marsh was born April 6, 1905, in Frederick County, the daughter of Wilmer Thomas and Nellie Griffith Wright Hoffman. She worked as a sales clerk for Hamburger’s Dress Shop for 35 years until her retirement in 1963.
She was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church, the Christian Women’s Society, the Women’s Civic League of Winchester and Frederick County, and the Winchester Historical Society.
She was married to the Rev. Harry Carter Marsh. The Rev. Marsh died March 13, 1977.
Surviving are a son, Dr. William Marsh of Upper Marlboro, Md.; a daughter, Peggy Lou Miller of Romney, W.Va.; a sister, Pauline Hoffman Hardesty of Columbus; and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.

Dorothy Lee “Dottie” Allen, 50, of South Timber Ridge Road, Whitacre, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Allen was born Nov. 23, 1949, in Croghan, N.Y., the daughter of Virgil and Grace Smith Busch. She was a homemaker.
She married Charles D. Allen on May 26, 1995, in Winchester.
Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Tracey L. Long of Winchester; two sisters, Nellie Rosler of Tampa, Fla., and Marsha Dickson of Lowville, N.Y.; two brothers, Daniel Busch of Theresa, N.Y., and Cyril Busch of Croghan; and a grandchild.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Jones Funeral Home. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Methodist Cemetery at Reynolds Store, Frederick County.

Marian G. “Sally” Vincent, 75, of Berryville, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Vincent was born Nov. 5, 1924, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of George L. and Maude E. Little. She was a homemaker.
She married James S. Vincent on Dec. 24, 1940, in Fairfax. Mr. Vincent died Aug. 5, 1997.
Surviving are a daughter, Debbie Kern of Fairfax; a son, James E. Vincent of Staunton; two brothers, George Little of Virginia and Gerald Little of California; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

Lewis Francis Barbour, 83, formerly of Front Royal, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, in Rose Hill Nursing Home, Berryville.
Mr. Barbour was born Nov. 21, 1916, in Happy Creek, the son of Isaac and Louise Dean Barbour. He was an Army veteran and retired in 1980 from Avtex Fiber Corp. in Front Royal.
He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Front Royal.
He was married to Juanita Avonda Mason.
Surviving with his wife, of Front Royal, are two brothers, Robert Barbour and Charles Barbour, both of Front Royal.

Elizabeth F. Burslem
Elizabeth F. Burslem, 88, of 429 Marion St., Winchester, formerly of Hyattsville, Md., and Harwich, Mass., died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Burslem was born Sept. 30, 1912, in Orange County, the daughter of John W. and Sarah P. Frazer. She was an elementary school teacher in Prince George’s County, Md.
She was a graduate of Westhampton College and did post graduate work at the University of Virginia and the University of Maryland.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Winchester.
She was married to William A. Burslem for 56 years. Mr. Burslem died in 1997.
Surviving are a daughter, Caroline B. Cale of Newport News; a son, William A. Burslem Jr. of Winchester; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church of Winchester, with the Rev. Richard Reifsnyder and the Rev. Dan McCoig officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Arthur D. “Goose” DeHaven, 71, of Bunker Hill, W.Va., died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at his home.
Mr. DeHaven was born June 15, 1929, in Berkeley County, W.Va., the son of Arthur D. and Bessie Rogers DeHaven. He was retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways.
He was an Army veteran and a member of Circle of Love Church, Back Creek Valley, W.Va.
Surviving are five daughters, Judy A. Kirsch of Hernando, Fla., Linda S. Shanks, Connie F. Edwards, and Debbie D. Sandlin, all of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Pam Harden of Winchester; a son, Arthur D. DeHaven III of Martinsburg; a brother, Lyndon G. DeHaven, with whom he lived; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A son, Ronnie W. DeHaven, is deceased.

Surviving with his parents are his paternal grandparents, Susan and George Vermillion, both of Winchester; his maternal grandparents, William David and Patricia Ann Martyn, both of Winchester; and his maternal great-grandparents, William G. and Pearl Martyn, both of Gore.
