Catherine E. Bain
Catherine E. Bain, 70, of Bunker Hill, W.Va. died Saturday Oct. 14, 2000, at her home.

She was born Sept. 5, 1930, in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of Andrew and Anna Macanern Morris.

She was a member of the Bunker Hill Methodist Church. She was married to Edward Allen Bain.

Survivors include a son, Patrick John Reid of Norwich, Conn.; seven daughters, Joan Anne Wonder, Corrine Marie Reid, Edwardine Alena Bain, Lisa Ann Maynard, and Faith Rose Estep, all of Bunker Hill, Anna Marie Williams of Front Royal, and Alice Tierney Baldwin of Kearneysville, W.Va.; two brothers, Patrick and James Morris of Pennsylvania; a sister, Anna Stewart of Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A brother, Andrew Morris, is deceased.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood, W.Va., with the Rev. Colby Knoll officiating. Burial will be in Bunker Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the South Berkeley Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Anna Marie K. Williams
Anna Marie Kestner Williams, 77, of Upperville died Saturday Oct. 14, 2000, in the Winchester Medical Center.

She was married to Ralph H. Williams.

Survivors include two daughters, Theresa Williams of Longwood, Fla. and Sheila Williams of Berryville; four sons, Ralph, Randolph, and Robert Williams of Upperville, and James Williams of Bentonville; a brother, Harold Kestner of Manassas; four sisters, Helen Poland of Ashburn, Virginia Edwards of Ranson, W.Va., Ival Craun of Louisiana, and Inez Securo of California; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Upperville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Keithley officiating. Burial will be in the Ivy Hill Cemetery in Upperville.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Royston Funeral Home in Middleburg.

Pallbearers will be Michael, Scotty, and Karl Williams; Ray and Trey Simpson; and Jimmy Poland.

Georgia R. Champ
Georgia Roberta Champ, 62, of Front Royal, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, in Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal.

Mrs. Champ was born May 17, 1938, in Huntly, the daughter of Mary Elizabeth Pendleton.

She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church of Flint Hill.

She was married to Robert T. Champ for 13 years.

Surviving with her husband are a son, Darnell Eugene Pendleton of Falls Church; a daughter, Bernice Paige of Front Royal; a stepdaughter, Victoria E. Bailey of Front Royal; two brothers, Robert M. Pendleton of Huntly and the Rev. John R. Pendleton of Flint Hill; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, Front Royal, with the Rev. Allen Baltimore officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery, Huntly.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Shirley D. Nail
Shirley Drake McMillan Nail, 72, of 3894 Northwestern Pike, Winchester, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, in Charles Town, W.Va.

Mrs. Nail was born Nov. 17, 1927, in Falling Waters, W.Va., the daughter of Carl T. and Lillian Drake McMillan.

She was a homemaker and a member of Rosedale Baptist Church.

She was married to Charles “Tucky” Nail, who died on March 23, 1988.

Surviving are a daughter, Darlene Nail of Frederick County; two sons, Edward Theodore Nail and Monte Bruce Nail of Frederick County; three sisters, Myrtle White and Peggy Truman, both of Marlowe, W.Va., and Dorothy Saville of Ridgeway, W.Va.; a brother, Carlton McMillan of Ohio; and two grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rosedale Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ken H. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ed Stanfield, Terry Hall, Steven Saville, Brian Truman, Kevin Nickelson, Matt Durbin, Mark Feltner, Dennis Bucher, K.H. Smith, Tuffy Reid, Louie VanMeter, and David Holliday.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

Fred J. Baker, formerly of Winchester, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, in Woodbridge.

Frank M. Shavatt Sr.
Frank Matag Shavatt Sr., 73, of 20 Cedarmeade Ave., Winchester, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Shavatt was born April 16, 1927, in Jessup, Pa., the son of Frank Cotch and Josephine DeFeo Shavatt.

He retired after 34 years as a postal carrier in the Suitland, Md., area.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, with the rank of private.

He married Dorothy Teresa Russell on Aug. 8, 1953, in Morganza, Md.

Surviving with his wife are five sons, Russell Shavatt and Thomas Shavatt, both of Dale City, Frank Shavatt of Manassas, Bernard Shavatt of White Plaines, Md., and William Shavatt of Winchester; two daughters, Kathryn Thompson and Mary Timbs, both of Winchester; two sisters, Anna DeSandro of Florida and Rose Green of La Platta, Md.; a brother, Joseph Shavatt of Annapolis, Md.; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Mitchellville, Md., with Father Michael Kidd officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Md.

Pallbearers will be Russell Shavatt, Bernard Shavatt, Thomas Shavatt, Mary Timbs, Terry Shavatt, and Russell J. Shavatt.

Edward A. Bromley
Edward Allen “Ed” Bromley, 63, of Redbud Road, Winchester, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Bromley was born Jan. 27, 1937, in Winchester, the son of Bruce and Evelyn Virginia Knight Bromley.

He was a truck driver for Redlon Johnson Plumbing & Heating and a member of Burnt Factory United Methodist Church.

He served in the Virginia National Guard from 1958 to 1964.

He married Sara Conner on April 27, 1966, in Winchester.

Surviving with his wife is a brother, James B. Bromley of Boyce.

A son, Morgan Allen Bromley, is deceased.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Home, with the Rev. David E. Byers officiating. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Bob Roper, Ronnie Snapp, Tracy Lidard, Wayne Smith Sr., David Jenkins, Monte Conner, David G. Jones, Charles Willis, William Douglas Bromley, Perry Duvall, and Thomas Duvall.

Patricia A. Horner
Patricia A. Myers Horner, 75, of Inwood, W.Va., died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at her home.

Mrs. Horner was born Jan. 7, 1925, in Berkeley County, W.Va., the daughter of John Albert and Rosa Lee VanMeter Myers.

She was retired as manager of the catalog store for Montgomery Ward in Martinsburg, W.Va.

She was a 1941 graduate of Martinsburg High School.

She was an active member of Arden United Methodist Church where she was treasurer for 21 years, as well as a member of Willard Brown Sunday school class and the church choir. She was past president of the United Methodist Women.

She volunteered at City Hospital and Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Berkeley County Farm Bureau.

She was married to Harry F. Horner Jr.

Surviving are a son, Jerry Horner of Inwood; two daughters, Doris Ann Fiddler and Bonnie Lou Mason, both of Inwood; a brother, Albert Myers of Martinsburg; two sisters, Sarah Catherine Sperow of Martinsburg and Florence Shroades of Inwood; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, with the Rev. Sharon K. Bourgeois officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

James D. Stultz
James Douglas Stultz, 65, of Baker, W.Va., died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at the E.A. Hawse Continuous Care Center, Baker.

Mr. Stultz was born June 23, 1935, in Spray, N.C., the son of Buford Lee and Edua Wyatt Stultz.

He was a long distance truck driver and a Navy veteran.

He was the last member of his immediate family.

A Navy burial at sea will be at a later date.

Loy-Giffin Funeral Home, Wardensville, W. Va., is handling arrangements.

Robert L. Kilcourse
Robert Lee Kilcourse, 58, of Front Royal Pike, Winchester, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Kilcourse was born June 18, 1942, in Boston, the son of Charles Sawin and Eleanor Quayle Kilcourse.

He had been a clerk for Western Union in Stephens City.

He was a member of Rosedale Baptist Church.

He was the last member of his immediate family.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today in Mount Hebron Cemetery, with Pastor Lynn Durbin officiating.

Jones Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Willeen K. Peake
Willeen King Peake of 546 Tuscawilla Hills, Charles Town, W.Va., formerly of Berryville, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. Peake was born in Richmond, the daughter of Robert Richard and Annie Williamson King.

She was a secretary for Edward Durrell and Milton Valley Farm, and a member of Berryville Presbyterian Church.

She married Robert Curtiss Peake on July 22, 1954, in Arlington.

Surviving with her husband are a son, Curt Peake of Berryville; a daughter, Kathie Bowman of Front Royal; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville.

Shirley M. Skillman
Shirley Mae Skillman, 74, of Beachway Drive, Palm Coast, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in Flagler Pines Nursing Home, Bunnell, Fla.

Mrs. Skillman was born April 22, 1926, in Wardensville, W.Va., the daughter of Reginald P. and Mary Palmer Hough.

She was a member of Clarendon Baptist Church, Clarendon.

Surviving are a son, Dennis Skillman of Wardensville; a daughter, Paula Sothers of Palm Coast; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Faith Mission Church, Wardensville, with Pastor David Garns officiating. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery, Wardensville.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Loy-Giffin Funeral Home, Wardensville.

C. Glen Anderson
C. Glen Anderson, 65, of Route 1, Box 417-1, High View, W.Va., died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, in Loudoun County Hospital Center, Leesburg.

Mr. Anderson was born Sept. 17, 1935, in Yellow Spring, W.Va., the son of Ray and Maggie Bennett Anderson. He was a superintendent for Ryan’s Construction Co. in Ashburn.

He was a graduate of Capon Bridge High School and a member of American Legion Post 137 in Capon Bridge, W.Va., and Eagles Aerie Post 824 in Winchester.

He married Bonnie Dolly on Jan. 31, 1958, in Cumberland, Md. Mrs. Anderson died Nov. 27, 1999.

Surviving are a son, Kevin G. Anderson of Capon Bridge; two daughters, Debbie Orndorff and Sherri Wagoner, both of High View; a sister, Katherine Ramey of Front Royal; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Giffin Funeral Home, Capon Bridge, with Pastor Rob Lovett officiating. Burial will be in Hebron Lutheran Church Cemetery, Yellow Spring.

Pallbearers will be Rick Stoys, Keith Harman, Gary Bauserman, Mark Sims, Ronnie Martz, and Mike Denise.

C. Frank Parks
C. Frank Parks, 46, of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Md.

Mr. Parks was born Sept. 16, 1954, in Berkeley County, W.Va., the son of Charles Raymond and Bernice Elizabeth Grantham Parks.

He worked at Rust-Oleum Corp. in Williamsport, Md. He was a 1972 graduate of Martinsburg High School and a 1976 graduate of Shepherd College.

He was an active member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where he was an usher and member of the United Methodist Men. He was a Master Mason and a member of Mt. Pisgah Lodge, F & AM. He coached Little League baseball in Martinsburg.

Surviving with his parents, of Martinsburg, are a daughter, Latoya R. Parks of Martinsburg; a son, Christopher M. Parks of Martinsburg; his paternal grandparents, Charles W. and Maragee Parks of Winchester; and a brother, Robert S. Parks of Bowie, Md.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Alfred E. Statesman officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

George W. Mann
George W. Mann, 83, of Winchester, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.

Edward J. Dawson
Edward J. “Sonny” Dawson, 62, of Back Mountain Road, Winchester, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, in Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore.

Mr. Dawson was born June 12, 1938, in Keyser, W.Va., the son of Geraldine June Dawson.

He had been a meat cutter for Super Fresh supermarket and retired in 1993.

He was in the Army from 1961 to 1963.

He married Joyce A. Dawson on Feb. 24, 1962, in Keyser.

Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Beth D. Sigmon of Raleigh, N.C.; two sons, Michael E. Dawson Sr. of Slanesville, W.Va., and Timothy A. Dawson of Highview, W.Va.; a brother, David G. Dawson of Keyser; and a grandchild.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home, with Pastor Clifton Lewis officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Queens Meadow Point Cemetery, Keyser.

Pallbearers will be David Todd Dawson, Dan Dawson, Jon Lee Evans, Melvin Nail, Harold Slater, Shawn Smith, Bruce Dove, and Earl Smith.
