George B. Scholl Sr.
George B. Scholl Sr., 87, of Wardensville, W.Va., died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, at the home of Paul and Jeanie Parker, with whom he lived.
Mr. Scholl was born Sept. 15, 1912, in Orville, Pa., the son of Linwood and Mary Scholl.
He was a truck driver and a member of Trout Run Church of the Brethren.
He married Theresa Hildenbrand on Sept. 23, 1982, in McLean. Mrs. Scholl died June 7, 1997.
Surviving are two sons, George B. Scholl Jr. of Landsdale, Pa., and Barry Scholl of North Wales, Pa.; a stepson, Ronald K. Stuart of McLean; and a sister, Grace Rowland of Suart, Fla.
A memorial service will be at a later date.

Charles Elwood “Jim” Deneen, 64, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Deneen was born Dec. 9, 1935, in Hancock, Md., the son of Charles Gladstone “Hun” Deneen and Ruth Alma Steiner Deneen.
He retired in 1999 from National Fruit Product Co., where he was a fork lift operator for 15 years.
He had worked for U.S. Silica, Berkeley Springs, during the 1970s.
He was a member of Berkeley Springs Church of the Nazarene.
He was married to Freda V. Michael.
Surviving with his wife and his mother, of Berkeley Springs, are two daughters, Patricia “Patti” Diehl of Hancock and Cheryl Clayton of Maryland; two sons, Charles Edward Deneen of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and Robert Crosen Jr. of Greenwich, Conn.; three sisters, Sue A. Ayers and Delmont “Dodie” Hull, both of Berkeley Springs, and Mary Louise Truax of Williamsport, Md.; two brothers, John Andrew Deneen of Hancock and Philip E. Deneen of Hedgesville, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Berkeley Springs Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Rodney C. Truax and the Rev. Alfred Woods officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs, and one hour before the service at the church.

Robert S. Jenkins
Robert Stewart Jenkins, 72, of Bunker Hill, W.Va., died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Jenkins was born Aug. 24, 1928, in Baltimore, the son of Robert Eldridge and Alma Embrey Jenkins.
He retired in 1984 as a compliance officer with the West Virginia Department of Labor. He was a dairy farmer in Berkeley County from 1954 to 1961 and later a testing supervisor for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association.
He was a private pilot.
He graduated from Sykesville High School in 1946 and attended the University of Maryland.
He was in the Army Signal Corps.
He was a member of Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church and president of Bunker Hill Cemetery Association.
He was married to Shirley Collis.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Christina J. Stevens of Bunker Hill; a son, Robert Todd Jenkins of Gerrardstown, W.Va.; a sister, Mona Jenkins Stonebraker of Martinsburg, W.Va.; and four granddaughters.
A memorial service will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church.

Steve Allen Chapman, 49, of Front Royal, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Chapman was born Aug. 17, 1951, in Clarke County, the son of Gerald Sylvester and Helen Marie Vincent Chapman.
He was a mechanic at United Parcel Service in Front Royal and the owner of Gooney Creek Motors.
He was a member of Moose Lodge 829.
He was married to Marilyn Mauck.
Surviving with his wife, and his mother, of Front Royal, are three sons, Chris C. Chapman, Gerald S. Chapman II, and Charles E. Chapman, all of Front Royal; two brothers, Billy L. Chapman of Front Royal and Benjamin F. Chapman of Houston, Texas; and four sisters, Bobbie Lee Hively of Front Royal, Linda Sue Reichert of Fredericksburg, Bertha Ann Loy of Stephens City, and Jodie Chapman Daniels of Front Royal.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, with the Rev. Peg Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Front Royal.

Burton G. Hoover
Burton G. Hoover, 90, of Martinsburg Pike, Winchester, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, in a local nursing home.
Mr. Hoover was born Sept. 11, 1909, in Sweetwater, Tenn., the son of Jacob S. and Venie Culbert Hoover. He was retired and had owned and operated Hoover Auto Exchange.
He married Reva Welch on July 26, 1965, in Kingsland, Ga.,
Surviving with his wife, are a stepson, Douglas R. Miller of Abilene, Texas; two stepdaughters, Ruby M. Dugan of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Nancy J. Leab of Chambersburg, Pa.; a sister, Naomi Lee Hutzler; 10 step grandchildren; and 20 step great-grandchildren.
A stepdaughter, Wanda Jean Miller, is deceased.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home, with Glenn Welsh officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.

Nels Christian Wolff, 64, of Inwood, W.Va., died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, in the VA Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Mr. Wolff was born March 26, 1936, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Jens Christian and Anna Sorensen Wolff.
He was a lawyer.
He was in the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
He was a member of Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church.
Surviving is a sister, Marian Boury of Altoona, Iowa.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church, with Pastor Donald B. Smith officiating.

Frances L. Bennett, 75, of Inwood, W.Va., died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Bennett was born May 16, 1925, in Rest, the daughter of John L. and Vertie Ann Ashton Whitacre.
She was retired from the former Perfection Garment Co.
She was a member of Cedar Grove Christian Church in Inwood.
She was married to Charles W. Bennett.
Surviving with her husband, are three sons, Douglas W. Bennett, Larry D. Bennett, and N. Craig Bennett, all of Inwood; a sister, Evaline Masters of Kearneysville, W.Va., six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Karen Lynn Bennett, is deceased.

Lorraine Virginia Hodson Strosnider, 80, of 1956 Oranda Road, Strasburg, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, in Welcome Haven Home, Winchester.
Mrs. Strosnider was born May 29, 1920, in Frederick County, the daughter of Hubert Oswald and Mary Elizabeth Stickley Hodson.
She was self-employed as a home care professional.
She was a member of the Senior Citizens of Strasburg.
She was married to Marvin W. Strosnider.
Surviving are a stepson, Earl Edward “Joe” Strosnider; three step grandsons; and five step great-grandchildren.

Helen Rose Parker Dembeck Graber, 84, of Wilson Boulevard, Winchester, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at home.
Mrs. Graber was born Jan. 1, 1916, in Strasburg, the daughter of Levi and Ella Willey Parker. She was a homemaker and a member of Shenandoah Valley Baptist Church.
She married John B. Graber in 1949 in Baltimore. Mr. Graber died in 1965. Her first husband, Walter G. Dembeck, died in 1970.
Surviving are a daughter, Penny Triplett of Winchester; four sons, John B. Graber III of Georgia, Walter Dembeck and Willey Dembeck, both of Stephens City; George Demback of Hopewell; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandsons.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. George Dembeck and Kim G. Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Middletown.

Melvin Ross Marks, 69, of Madison County, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, in Culpeper Regional Hospital.
Mr. Marks was born Jan. 4, 1931, in Madison County, the son of Ernest and Ella Gallihugh Marks.
He was retired as foreman for Wilson Tree Co.
He was a member of Orange Moose Lodge 2198.
He was married to Gertie Jenkins.
Surviving with his wife, of Orange, are three daughters, Joyce A. Walters, Katie D. Moubray, and Janice M. Haynes, all of Winchester; two sons, Michael D. Lutz and Jimmy A. Haynes, both of Orange; six brothers, Ernest Marks and Fred Marks, both of Orange, Curtis Marks of Culpeper, Jesse Marks of Aroda, Jimmy Marks of Unionville, and Nelson Marks of Madison; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Nettie Dodson Corbin, 92, of Charles Town, W.Va., formerly of Winchester, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, in Charles Town.
Mrs. Corbin was born March 11, 1908, in Rappahannock County, the daughter of Smitters “Boot” Dodson and Sarah Jenkins Dodson. She was a seasonal employee with Shenandoah Apple Co-Op.
She was a member of Rosedale Baptist Church.
She was married to Lacy T. Corbin on Aug. 13, 1944, in Culpeper. Mr. Corbin died April 8, 1992.
Surviving are a son, James M. Dodson of Winchester; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Glenn Earl Silman, 66, of 5556 Middle Road, Winchester, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Silman was born June 16, 1934, in Winchester, the son of Glenn Creamer Silman and Minnie Swisher Silman Newlin. He was a self-employed wallpaper and painting contractor and had retired.
He and his wife, Dorothy Ann Silman, were married on May 5, 1967, in Hagerstown, Md.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Sheila Denise Silman of Winchester and Glenda S. Dawkins of Morgantown, W.Va.; two sisters, Helen Teets of Harrisonburg and Virginia Reynolds of Richmond; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be today at 11 a.m. in Shenandoah Memorial Park, with Dr. J.P. Roby officiating.

Lolita Chapman Flynn, 69, of Sleepy Creek Farm, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Monday, Sept. 5, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Flynn was born Feb. 6, 1931, in Millwood, the daughter of Elmer and Lucille Summerford Chapman.
She had earned a B.A. degree and a M.A. degree in psychology at Queens College.
She was an active proponent of literacy and a supporter of the Morgan County Public Library.
She was married to James Flynn.
Surviving are three sons, Bryan Flynn of Marinette, Wis., Stephen Flynn of Berkeley, Calif., and David Flynn of Annapolis, Md.; a brother, Michael Chapman of Fairfax; and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Spohrs Cross Roads Cemetery, Berkeley Springs. Her sons will officiate.
The family will host a reception at Sleepy Creek Farm following the service.

Nicholas Joseph “Duke” Dukarm, 85, of 1042 Horseshoe Drive, Front Royal, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, in Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal.
Mr. Dukarm was born Oct. 4, 1914, in Engels-Brunn, Romania, the son of Joseph Dukarm and Katherine Vogel.
He worked in security for Grumman Aerospace and retired after 38 years.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the NRA and the Grumman Retiree Club.
He married Emma Maria Kennedy in Manhattan, N.Y. Mrs. Dukarm died Dec. 23, 1980.
Surviving are a daughter, Emarie Hewitt of Front Royal; two sons, Frank Dukarm of Arizona and Raymond Dukarm of Holbrook, Long Island, N.Y.; a sister, Elizabeth Schuch of Bronx, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
