Frances Wymer Ledford, 72, of 402 Tudor Drive, Winchester, died Wednesday at her home.
Mrs. Ledford was born Sept. 1, 1927, in the Oranda area of Shenandoah County the daughter of Charles J. and Nannie K. Windle Jr. She was a member of Mt. View Church of Christ, Winchester.
She married Marshall Elmer Ledford.
Surviving are her son, Terry L. Graham of Star Tannery; three daughters, Brenda L. Rudolph of Strasburg and Judy B. DiFlavis and C. Gail Hawkins, both of Winchester; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Walnut Springs Cemetery, Shenandoah County, with the Rev. Charles Doughty and the Rev. Chris Straley officiating.
Friends may call at the home at anytime.

Jacqueline A. Broy
Jacqueline “Jackie” Anne Broy, 39, of 116 N. Buckmarsh St., Berryville, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at her home.
Mrs. Broy was born Aug. 8, 1961, in Charles Town, W.Va., the daughter of Paul Ramey Clark and Patricia Anne Broy Sardelis.
She was a receptionist and computer operator for Superior Iron Works in Sterling and Leesburg Animal Clinic.
She was a 1979 graduate of Clarke County High School and attended Lord Fairfax Community College.
She was a member of Berryville Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her mother and stepfather, Patricia and George G. Sardelis of Berryville; a sister, Brenda Tavenner of Paris; a brother, Eric Clark of Berryville; three stepsisters; and a stepbrother.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville, with Dr. Daniel L. Garrett officiating.
Pallbearers will be Mike Wood, Paul Wood, Brad Frazier, Gary Essex, Gary Hall, Lee Linthicum, Mike Kane, and Teddy Long.

Joseph Burianek, 76, of Augusta, W.Va., died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, in the VA Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Robert Pence III
Robert “Bob” Pence III, 47, of 68 Cecelia St., Toms Brook, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, in Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore.
Mr. Pence was born Aug. 11, 1953, in Winchester, the son of Robert Pence Jr. and Ann Sager Pence. He was a surveyor for the Virginia Department of Transportation for 20 years.
He was a 1971 graduate of Strasburg High School and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
He married Phyllis Miller on July 14, 1984.
Surviving with his wife and his parents, of Strasburg, are a sister, Karen Pence Keeler of Middletown; and a brother, Gary Pence of Harrisonburg.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Jerome, with the Rev. Harold E. Burnette officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Travis Miller, Tim Hoopes, John Krivoruchka, Guy Sager, Gary Little, and Ted Lytton.

William F. Bray III
William Francis Bray III, infant son of William Francis Bray Jr. and Tracey Diane Harrison, both of Winchester, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, in the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.
He was born Aug. 21, 2000, in the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Surviving with his parents are his paternal grandparents, William F. Bray Sr. of Millwood and Brenda Ann Bray of Leesburg; his maternal grandparents, Lowell E. and Diane E. Harrison of Strasburg; his paternal great-grandmothers, Sarah Bray of Millwood and Virginia Jackson of Double Tollgate; and his maternal great-grandparents, Howard and Bettie Harrison of Pinellas Park, Fla., and Daniel and Elizabeth Butchko of Boardman, Ohio.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Shenandoah Memorial Park, with the Rev. Eric G. Farel officiating.

Carol A. LaSalle
Carol Ann LaSalle, 66, of Baker, W.Va., died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at her home.
Ms. LaSalle was born Jan. 26, 1934, in Fairfax, the daughter of Joseph and Irene V. Posey Simpson. She was a waitress.
She attended Rock Oak Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are four daughters, Sherry Tucker of Sarasota, Fla., Teresa Barner of Minneapolis, Patty Bean of Baker, and JoAnne Kitts of Alexandria; three sons, Gerald LaSalle and Shawn LaSalle, both of Alexandria, and Michael LaSalle of Culpeper; a sister, Jackie Roland of Fairfax; two brothers, Paul LaSalle and Joe LaSalle of Florida; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in McKee Funeral Home, Baker, with Burl Charlton officiating. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the time of the service at the funeral home.
Henry H. Godfrey
Henry Harnsberger “Doc” Godfrey, 81, of 1206 Rodes Circle, Winchester, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, in Westminster-Canterbury.
Mr. Godfrey was born July 3, 1919, in Catlett, the son of Henry B. and Lillian Heflin Godfrey.
He was owner of Godfrey Volkswagen, Mazda and Subaru, and was a member of the Winchester Automobile Dealers Association.
He was a staff sergeant in the Army during World War II and served with Gen. George Patton’s 3rd Army in the European Theatre.
He was a fox hunter and a horse breeder. He was a member of the Kentucky Horse Breeders Association and an honorary life member of the Blue Ridge Hunt.
He was owner of the Godfrey Volkswagen Fast Pitch Softball team and was an honorary life member of the Shenandoah University Athletic Club.
He was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church and Winchester Host Lions Club. He was a past member of the board of trustees of Shenandoah University.
He married Anne McDonald on Nov. 24, 1942, in Hattiesburg, Miss.
Surviving with his wife are four daughters, Sandra G. Ziegler of Gaithersburg, Md., Cheryl G. Dolan of Winchester, Robin G. White of Sterling, and Sally Penguite Godfrey of Middleburg; a sister, Gloria Yates of Falls Church; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Braddock Street United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jay Kelchner, the Rev. Carlyle McDonald, and the Rev. Dr. Alan Felumlee officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.

Mary E. Fishback
Mary Ethel Alexander Fishback, 97, of Wardensville Grade, Winchester, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at the home of her son.
Mrs. Fishback was born April 19, 1903, in The Plains, the daughter of Richard M. and Judith Margaret Lunceford Alexander. She was a registered nurse at Winchester Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
She was a 1926 graduate of Loudoun Hospital School of Nursing, Leesburg.
She married James A. Fishback Sr. on Sept. 17, 1927, in Marshall. He died Nov. 25, 1981.
Surviving are four daughters, Mary Iden Lillis of Winchester, Charlotte V. Shipe of Crozet, Bette J. Lillis of the Villages, Fla., Judith M. Marlow of Augusta, W.Va.; two sons, James A. Fishback Jr. and David W. Fishback, both of Winchester; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
A funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, Winchester, with the Rev. William W. Erbach officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.

George R. Barr
George R. Barr, 71, of Crescent Drive, Winchester, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Barr was born Nov. 9, 1928, in Winchester, the son of George Ross Barr Sr. and Elizabeth Noonan Barr. He worked as an engineer for the Army Night Vision Lab at Ft. Belvoir.
He served in the Navy, and was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 867, Moose Lodge No. 1283, Eales Arie No. 824, and Hiram Lodge No. 21.
He married to Martha Brill on Sept. 22, 1950, in Winchester. She died April 11, 1973.
Surviving are two daughters, Bonnie S. Jackson of Atlanta and Brenda Barr Creech of Alexandria; a sister, Elizabeth B. Miller of Winchester; and a grandchild.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home, Winchester, with the Rev. G. Kirk Nave officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.

Helen Rose Graber
Helen Rose Parker Dembeck Graber, 84, of Wilson Boulevard, Winchester, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at home.
Mrs. Graber was born Jan. 1, 1916, in Strasburg, the daughter of Levi and Ella Willey Parker. She was a homemaker and a member of Shenandoah Valley Baptist Church.
She married John B. Graber in 1949 in Baltimore. He died in 1965. Her second husband, Walter G. Dembeck, died in 1970.
Surviving are a daughter, Penny Triplett of Winchester; four sons, John B. Graber III of Georgia, Walter Dembeck and Willey Dembeck, both of Stephens City; George Demback of Hopewell; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandsons.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. George Dembeck and Kim G. Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Middletown.

Donald I. Lyons
Donald Iden Lyons, 69, of 17035 Simmental Lane, Round Hill, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at home.
Mr. Lyons was born Jan. 30, 1931, in Arlington, the son of Edward Elwood and Carrie Frances Caton Lyons. He owned and operated D.I. Lyons Excavating Co. in Sterling from 1954 to 1998.
He also served as president of the International Slurry Seal Association. He was an award-winning breeder of Simmental beef cattle.
He served in the Army from 1949 to 1953, and attained the rank of master sergeant.
He was a member of Purcellville Assembly of God.
He married Genevieve Burleson Lyons on April 14, 1952, in Crossnore, N.C.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, John Alan Lyons of Sterling and Donald Edward Lyons of Chantilly; two daughters, Patricia Lyons Jenkins of Round Hill and Debra Lyons Stevens of Aldie; and six grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Lee Vaught officiating. Burial will be in Burleson Cemetery, Newland, N.C.

Donald S. Jackson
Donald S. Jackson, 60, of Winchester, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Jackson was born Dec. 7, 1939, in Far Rockaway, Queens, N.Y., the son of Lewis S. and Edith L. Castle Jackson. He worked as a deputy sheriff in Fairfax County, and had retired as a lieutenant after 20 years with the Lynbrook Police Department in Nassau County, N.Y.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the Lt. Gen. Chester A. Puller detachment of the Marine Corps League.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science and criminal justice from New York Institute of Technology in Long Island, N.Y.
Mr. Jackson married Patricia Glier on April 6, 1960, in Long Island.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Susan Crossan of Babylon, N.Y., and Elizabeth Jackson of Winchester; two sons, Donald T. Jackson of Gore, and Christopher S. Jackson of Charles Town, W.Va.; and four grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, with Father Stanley Krempa officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Mary Martin “Molly” Flett, 85, of 110 Lauck Drive, Winchester, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Flett was born April 11, 1915, in Dublin, Ireland, the daughter of Thomas A. and Anne O’Rielly Martin. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir.
She was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians.
She married Douglas Louis Flett on Sept. 7, 1942. He died March 14, 1984.
Surviving are a daughter, Maria Flett Hurt of Winchester, and two grandchildren. A son, Ian Douglass Flett, preceded her in death.

Fred P. Ambrose IV
Fred P. “Bear” Ambrose IV, 45, of Berryville, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Ambrose was born June 9, 1955, in Owensboro, Ky., the son of Fred P. Ambrose III and Marjorie Jerue Ambrose. He was a carpenter.
He served in the Marines during the Vietnam War.
Surviving are a brother, Daniel J. Ambrose of Chatham, Mass., and a sister, Brenda Harding of Houston.

Susan D. Michael
Susan Diane Michael, 49, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., formerly of Orlando, Fla., died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs.
Ms. Michael was born Feb. 19, 1951, in City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va., the daughter of Vernon Daniel “Dippy” Michael and Rebecca Frances Householder Mason Michael.
She worked as a dental hygienist and a postal clerk in Orlando before retiring because of disability in 1989.
She was a Protestant and a member of the Ladies of the Moose No. 1311, Berkeley Springs.
Surviving, along with her father, of Orlando, are three sisters, Bonnie J. Stotler and Cindy F. Stotler, both of Berkeley Springs, and Michaela D. Clarke, Orlando; and a brother, Roger L. Mason of Hartley, Del.
A funeral will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs, with Pastor George Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Florida.

Edward Robert McGrath, 47, of 180 Mill Lane, Boyce, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at home.
Mr. McGrath was born May 29, 1953, in Philadelphia, the son of Robert McGrath Sr. and Grace Radne McGrath.
He earned a degree in liberal arts from Chowan College in Murfreesboro, N.C.
He was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, of Boyce, are a brother, Robert McGrath Jr. of Berryville, and a sister, Cindy Mallory of Clarke County.

Cuetta Ann Grier, 57, of Front Royal, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, in Winchester Medical Center.
Ms. Grier was born Aug. 12, 1943, in Front Royal, the daughter of Phyllis Carroll Grier and Frank Joseph Grier. She was employed by Dominion Semiconductors, Manassas.
She was a member of Shenandoah Baptist Church and South River Temple No. 420.
Surviving with her mother, of Front Royal, are a sister, Claudia R. Ngome of Winchester, and a brother, James E. Grier of Front Royal.
