Mitchell
Gladys Pauline Mitchell, age 73, of Unionville, Penn., died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001 at the Presbyterian Health Center, West Chester, Penn.
Mrs. Mitchell was born in Konnarock, the daughter of the late Kenny and Fanny Jane Pennington Adams. She was a 1945 graduate of Konnarock Girls School. She had lived in the Unionville area since 1951 and had worked for 20 years in the cafeteria of the high school for the Unionville School District, retiring in 1991.
Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the Modena Church of God in Modena, Penn., and a former member of the Willowdale Chapel in Willowdale, Penn. She enjoyed canning, cooking and flower gardening.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Everett and Harley Adams.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Joseph W. Mitchell Sr.; three sons, Joseph W. Mitchell Jr., and wife Kay of Rural Retreat, W. Kenny Mitchell of Oxford, Penn., and Bruce A. Mitchell and wife Linda of Kennett Square, Penn.; one daughter, Audrey L. Mortzfield and husband Barry of Downingtown, Penn.; two brothers, Russell Adams and Henry D. Adams, both of Konnarock; three sisters, Anna Sexton and Thelma Stamper, both of Sparta, N.C.;, and Dolores Hutton of Dameron, Md.; six grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to a life celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Sept. 26, at the Kuzo & Gofus Funeral Home, Ltd., in Kennett Square, Penn.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Charles Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Valley Cemetery in Konnarock. The family will receive friends Friday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Modena Church of God, 26 North Brandywine, Modena, Penn. 19358.

Parks
Glenn Anderson Parks, age 84, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001 in the Francis Marion Manor.
Mr. Parks was born in Grayson County to the late Roscoe and Ettie Anderson Parks and was a member of the Marion Baptist Church. He worked as a car salesman for Smyth County Motors and was the owner and operator of The Corner Grocery & Laundromat.
Mr. Parks was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion and the Francis Marion VFW Post 4667. He graduated from the Oak Hill Academy and was an inspiration to all of the youth in his community.
He was preceded in death by Herbert Parks.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Lue Parks; three sisters, Jean Wyatt, Seven Mile Ford, Kathleen Parks, Marion, and Mildred Sapp, Lexington, Ky.; several nieces, nephews, and his extended family and friends from Francis Marion Manor.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m. at Marion Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Ross, the Rev. Carlton Blankenship and the Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Interment followed in Roselawn Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Francis Marion VFW Post 4667. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations can be made to the activity fund at Francis Marion Manor, 100 Francis Marion Lane, Marion, VA 24354.

Snider
Clifton L. Snider, age 80, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001 in Fern Park, Fla.
Mr. Snider was the son of the late Conley R. Snider and Alva Hopkins Snider. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Severt Snider; and one brother, Landis Snider.
Surviving are his wife, Chris Snider of Fern Park, Fla.; one daughter, Carolyn MacKall, Fern Park, Fla.; two sons, Donald Snider and Michael Snider, both of Fern Park, Fla.; one sister, Wilma Sherwood, Bristol; one brother and sister-in-law, Arlen and Shirley Snider, Marion; one sister-in-law, Willie Mae Snider, Bristol; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 27, at noon at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

Vernon
Edna Neff Vernon, age 86, of Rural Retreat, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001 in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Mrs. Vernon was born in Wythe County, the daughter of the late Oden and Minnie Elizabeth Huddle Neff. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was preceded in death by two brothers, Martin I. Neff and J. Franklin Neff; and one grandson, Lawrence Day Vernon.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Thomas J. Vernon; one daughter, Ann V. Charlton, Earlysville; one son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Sandra Vernon, Rural Retreat; four grandchildren, Jane Charlton Otte, Bill Charlton, Krysla Vernon, and Chip Vernon; seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Monday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery in Marion with Pastor Joe Shumate officiating. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to Grace Lutheran Church, P.O. Cornett
Ronnie M. Cornett, age 44, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001 at his home in Damascus.
Mr. Cornett was a lifelong resident of Washington County and was a son of the late Roy James and Evelyn Pearl Blevins Cornett. He was an employee of the Columbus McKinnon Corporation and was of the Methodist Faith.
Surviving are one son, Cory Cornett, Damascus; two sisters, Connie Wallace, Radford, and Linda Murphy, Bristol, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m. in the Garrett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.J. Cullop officiating. The committal service and inurnment will be held today, Sept. 29, at 10 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Damascus Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 458, Damascus, VA 24236.

Corvin
Joseph Sanders Corvin, age 89, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001 at his home in Rural Retreat.
Mr. Corvin was employed at Bonham's Orchard, Brunswick Corporation, and Virginia House Manufacturing. He was a member of Full Gospel Church in Rural Retreat.
Surviving are his wife, Eula Mae Corvin, Rural Retreat; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rosie and Wilson Gross, Marion, Lucille and Gene Arnold and Irene and Daryl Flowers, all of Hillsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Christine Corvin, Rural Retreat; three granddaughters; seven grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Hubert Meadows officiating. Burial followed in Kimberlin Lutheran Church Cemetery in Rural Retreat.

Cregger
Goldie Clark Cregger, age 90, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
She was the widow of Earl M. Cregger.
Surviving are one son, Danny Cregger, Glade Spring; one brother, Claude Clark, Glade Spring; one sister, Sylvia Clark, Elizabethton, Tenn.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. in Williams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Thomas B. Sullivan and the Rev. Kyle French officiating. Burial was in the Elizabeth Cemetery in Saltville.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Glade Spring Volunteer Life Saving Crew.

Dina Jo Frye Davidson, age 53, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001 at her home in Saltville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter D. (Cat) Frye; and three brothers, Eddie Wayne Frye, David Brooks Frye and Johnny Lamuel Frye.
Surviving are her mother, Maxie Prater Frye, Saltville; one daughter, Sheri Harris Anders, Louisburg, N.C.; two sons, Charles (Chuck) Harris of Saltville and Michael Johnson of Abingdon; three sisters, Nioka Frye, Mary Katherine Frye, both of Saltville, and Faye Allison of Clermont, Fla.; very special companion, Jackie Lamie of Rich Valley; grandchildren, Nicole Trudeau, Robert Trudeau and Luke Anders of Louisburg, N.C., Courtney Anders of Coats, N.C., and Chaz Harris, Kelli Harris and Kristen Harris, all of Saltville.

James Coy Lefler, age 72, of Chilhowie, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001 at Oaks Residential & Rehabilitation Center in Gainesville, Fla.

Fletchall
Martin Luther Fletchall, age 54, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001 at his home in Rural Retreat.
Mr. Fletchall was a member of the Pleasant Hill Lutheran Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corp, and a member of Marion VFW Post 4667.
He was preceded in death by his father, Luther A. Fletchall.
Surviving are his wife, Selma L. Fletchall; two daughters and son-in-law, Mary Rebecca Fletchall, Des Moines, Iowa, and Melissa K. and Mark Ham, Winterset, Iowa; one son, Michael A. Fletchall, Vanmetr, Iowa; two stepdaughters and spouses, Mary Elizabeth and Ken Kerr, Roanoke, and Judy Carol and Richard Metelski, Frederick, Md.; his mother, Pauline Weigart, Grant City, Mo.; four sisters, Lois Lager, Sue Asher, both of Grant City, Mo., Sherri Cagnacci, Upper Lake, Calif., and Nona Armstrong, Creston, Iowa; two brothers, David Fletchall and John Fletchall, both of Grant City, Iowa; six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. at Lindsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Edward Schaack and Vicar Pat Nabers officiating. Interment will follow in Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Marion VFW Post 4667.

Hedrick
Ruth Hazel Foglesong Hedrick, age 80, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001 at her home in Wytheville.
Mrs. Hedrick was born in Bland County, the daughter of the late Charles John and Tillie Mabel Tilson Foglesong. She was a member of Holy Advent Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Mrs. Hedrick was a retired schoolteacher with Wythe County and Bland County school systems.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Ira Hedrick, and a brother, John Henry Foglesong.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Mike Milam, Piketon, Ohio, Judy and Elton Walters, Wytheville, and Joyce and Tommy McGhee, Chilhowie; nine grandchildren, David, Dennis and Amy Milam; Matthew, Ginger Tiffanie and Nathan Walters; Pamela Somervell and Rebecca McGhee; three great-grandchildren, Leah, Hannah and Jeremy Milam.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m. at Holy Advent Lutheran Church with Vicar Harvey Atkinson officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Mitchell Cemetery.

Jones
Garland Stuart Jones Sr., age 74, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001 at his home in Atkins.
Mr. Jones was born in Smyth County to the late Charles Garland and Lottie Theola Snavely Jones. He retired as a truck driver from Brunswick Corporation with 24 years of service. He then established a four-year lease contract of his own vehicle to the Mason Dixon Trucking Co.
Mr. Jones was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Martin Jones; three sons and daughters-in-law, Garland "Stuart" and Regina D. Jones II, and Michael A. Jones, all of Atkins, and Rodney D. and Debbie Jones, Saltville; grandchildren, Amy and husband Michael McMillan, Angela P., John D., Jason M., and Brandy Nichole Jones; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and M. Otho Anderson, Piney Flats, Tenn., and Nancy and Dewey Parks, DeLand, Fla.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 8 p.m. at Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Douglas Stuart officiating. Graveside services will be held today, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m. at Wassum Cemetery in Atkins. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Mr. Jones' memory.
