Holmes
Roy B. Holmes, 77, of Warrenton, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at Fauquier Hospital.
He was born Nov. 15, 1927, in Smyth County, a son of the late Roy Hayden Holmes and Hallie Dorothy Crewey Holmes.
He retired from dairy farming and enjoyed fishing, gardening and rabbit hunting.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jackie Holmes; three children, Darrel D. Holmes of Remington, Dreama Mutter of Marion and Roy Holmes, Jr. of Kearneysville, W.Va.; three brothers, Jim, Lowell and Lee Holmes, all of Charles Town, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and was a special great-grandfather to McKayla Holmes and Justin Mutter.
Graveside services were held at Catlett Cemetery on March 21, 2005.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Moser Funeral Home Inc. of Warrenton was in charge of arrangements.
Hutchins Alberta Crockett Hutchins, 96, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, in the West Haven Retirement Home in Abingdon. Lautenberger
Leonard Harry Lautenberger Sr., 94, of Rural Retreat, formerly of Dumont, N.J., died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at his residence.
He was born in Staten Island, N.Y., a son of the late Leonard and Nancy Whitmore Lautenberger. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was a retired professional photographer for CBS having taken photos of the Beatles, Elvis and the John F. Kennedy funeral service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in World War II and was a member of the American Legion for over 50 years.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Grace Roy Lautenberger; one son and daughter-in-law, Leonard H. Jr. and Lucy Lautenberger of West Milford, N.J.; two grandchildren, Denise Lautenberger of Vermont and Richard Lautenberger of the Bahamas; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Helen Lautenberger of Lodi, N.J.; one sister, Doris Rasmussen of New Hampshire; and a sister-in-law, Pat Young of Arnold, Md.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2005, at 1 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rural Retreat, with Pastor Edward Schaack officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. American Legion Post 229 will conduct graveside military rites.
The family suggests that those who prefer, may make memorials to the St. Paul Lutheran Church.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 24, 2005, from noon to 1 p.m. (service time) at the St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Marchant
Robert Edward Marchant Sr., 70, died Monday, March 21, 2005, at his home in Winston Salem, N.C., after a long illness.
He was born April 5, 1934, in Rhodell, W. Va. and was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Scott Marchant and a brother, Earl Francis, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Dana S. Marchant; three sons, Robert Edward Marchant, Jr. of Florida, Earl David Marchant and Robert Franklin Marchant, both of North Carolina; three daughters, Anna Michelle Marchant and Lisa Berenedett Stafford, both of North Carolina and Tressia Irene Theriault of Florida; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Ernest "Pete" and Norma Marchant of Marion; former wife, Anna Johnson of Florida; sister-in-law, Betty Hickman of Spokane, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005, at the Marchant Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, March 24, 2005, from 12-1 p.m.

Muncy
Jeffrey Wade Muncy, 41, died Saturday, March 19, 2005, in Wythe County.
He was a 1981 graduate of Marion Senior High School where he played football and was a veteran of the U. S. Army, where he served for six years.
He was an artist, who loved to draw, loved building hotrods and was also an incredible Miami Dolphins fan. His son was an important part of his life and he truly valued the time he spent with him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herbert and Ruby Quillen Sturgill and Bill and Callie Rife Muncy.
Survivors include his parents, Ray and Elda Sturgill Muncy of Marion; one son, Bobby Lee Muncy of Sugar Grove; one sister, Shawn Muncy of Marion; one brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Brenda Muncy of Marion; two nieces, Brittney Muncy and Jessica Sutphin; one nephew, Taylor Muncy; special friends, Lorinda Williams and her nephew, "Doodlebug", Larry Norman, Kristin Norman and Michael Thomas.
Funeral services were held Monday evening, March 21, 2005, at Seaver-Brown Chapel. The Rev. David Neitch officiated the ceremony. A private burial will be held at South Fork Baptist Church Cemetery in Marion.

Clifton James Patton, 24, died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at the Smyth County Community Hospital.
He was born in Marion and graduated from Marion Senior High School in 1998. He worked for his family's logging business and attended the Sharon Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edgar and Lillie Mae Patton.
Survivors include his parents, Jimmy and Missy Patton; one sister, Tonya Kidd and fianc?, Billy Crigger; maternal grandparents, Albert and Mescal Brooks; fianc?e, Becky Fannin; one nephew, Daniel Patton; one niece, Brittany Kidd; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the Sharon Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Crigger and the Rev. Jim Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Delta G. Poston, 74, died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Smyth County Community Hospital.
She was born in Konnarock to the late Samuel and Ennis Stamper Blevins and was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Elmer Blevins; and three sisters, Ruth Osborne, Lucille Surber and Blanche Wyatt.
She was a member of the East End Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Landon Poston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lana and Robert DeBord of Marion and Diane and Dennis Higdon of Maryville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Chris DeBord, Courtney DeBord, Mary-Beth Higdon and Allison Higdon.

Johnny Totton, 60, died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at his home in Marion.
He was born in Smyth County to the late John Samuel and Gracie Mae Harris Totton and was preceded in death by a brother, William James Parks.
He was a beloved father, beloved boyfriend and a good friend to many.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, John B. Totton of Stoneville, N.C. and James S. and Debbie Totton of Marion; one aunt, Eva Widener of Chilhowie; one grandson, Johathan Totton; very special friend, Melinda Ecenrode; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, March 22, 2005, at the Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel in Marion. The Rev. Wayne Lewis officiated the ceremony. Interment followed at the Rich Valley-Ridgedale Cemetery.

Mary Catherine Baldwin, 72, of Front Royal, formerly of Herndon, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, in the Prince William Hospital.
She was born March 21, 1932, in Washington County, daughter of the late Rus Blevins and Hattie Clarke, and was married to the late, Estel Smith Baldwin.
She was retired from the Fairfax County School System.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Draper of Bealeton and Vickie Ratliff of Gainesville; four sons, E. Larry Baldwin of Sterling, William Michael Baldwin of Remington, Ricky Wayne Baldwin and Kenneth Baldwin, both of Front Royal; three sisters, Dora Osbourne of Whitetop, Sue Blevins of Elk Creek and Virginia Hibbard of Manassas; and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services was held Sunday, March 20, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal. Entombment will follow in Stonewall Memory Gardens.

Burris
Ronald Foster Burris, 78, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, in Smyth County Community Hospital.
He was born Aug. 3, 1926, to the late Bayse and Lalla Burris he attended Atkins Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict having served in the U. S. Army.
He retired from Virginia House Furniture and worked at Atkins Grocery and was also an avid bird watcher and a great daddy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Burris Knight.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna and Jim Garrett and Susan Biggs, all of Vine Grove, Ky.; one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Vickie Powell of Vine Grove, Ky.; one sister, Elizabeth Evans of Rural Retreat; a special friend and companion, Delcie Pennington of Atkins; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Peanut.
Funeral services were held Friday evening, March 18, 2005, at Seaver-Brown Chapel. The Rev. Jimmy Shupe officiated the ceremony. Graveside services were held Saturday, March 19, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667.
