Armstrong
Roberta Catron Armstrong, age 66, widow of Paul Armstrong, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999 in Smyth County Community Hospital. She was of the Baptist faith and attended the Calvary Baptist Church and Cedars Baptist Church.
She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Carlton Craig, Kathleen and Sammy Evans, Cynthia and Joe Bennett Sr., and Christine and Henry Cook, all of Marion; one son, Ronald Edward Armstrong and fiancée Jennifer Henry of Marion; one sister, Alverta Yates of Bassett, one brother, John W. Catron of Bassett; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Marion Boggs and the Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Burial followed in Ridgedale Cemetery in Rich Valley.

Bowman
Robin Bowman, age 29, of Damascus, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999 in Johnson City Medical Center.
She was a native of Damascus and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Cheyenne Brianna Bowman of the home; her parents, David and Juanita Fain, Damascus; one brother, Davey Fain, Damascus; two sisters, Misty and Amber Fain, both of Damascus; her maternal grandparents, Charles and Mary Barr, Damascus; her paternal grandmother, Mary Fain, Damascus; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service was held Sunday, Jan. 31, in Konnarock.

Broyles
James Alexander Broyles, age 86, of Glade Spring, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999 in Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie.
Mr. Broyles was a native of Glade Spring and had lived most of his life in Washington County. He was of the Methodist faith and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a brother, William Broyles of Glade Spring; three sisters, Anne Broyles Ellis, Margaret Hogston and Mildred Bunting, all of Glade Spring; two nieces; one nephew.
Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, in Farris Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tim Graham officiating. Committal services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 3, in Old Glade Presbyterian Cemetery with military rites by the Patton-Crosswhite VFW Post No. 6975. Friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery before services.

Dennison
Rush R. Dennison, age 63, of Julian, N.C., died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999 at the VA Hospital in Salisbury, N.C.
Mr. Dennison was born March 26, 1935 and was a veteran of the Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Domek Dennison; three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Dawn Dennison, and Darren Dennison, all of Julian, N.C., and Dennis and Shelia Dennison of Marion; three daughters and son-in-law, Donna Richardson and Lynn Crigger, both of Marion, and Debra and Eric Myers of Mocksville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Matthew Richardson, Jeremy and Justin Dennison, and Tyler Myers; six brothers, Walter Dennison of Marion, Lee Dennison of Dover, Del., Richard Dennison of Missouri, Clifford Dennison, Ernie Dennison and John Dennison, all of LaPlata, Md.; four sisters, Lorena Wright, Francis Stickel and Ruth Nelson, all of LaPlata, Md., and Ann Marie Phillips of North, S.C.
A private memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 30, at the home in Julian, N.C.
Dolinger
Catherine Hill Dolinger, age 71, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999 at her home in Rugby.
Mrs. Dolinger was born July 12, 1927 at Mouth of Wilson, the daughter of Robert P. and Spar Blackburn Hill.
Surviving are four daughters, Debbie Dolinger, Lansing, N.C., Nancy Sue Dolinger, Faye Dolinger and Deedee Dolinger, all of the home; three sons, Miles Dolinger, Robert Dolinger and Garney Dolinger, all of Whitetop; two sisters, Alice Thompson and Bertie Thompson, both of Marion.
Funeral services will be conducted today, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m. in Helton Valley Baptist Church in Whitetop with the Rev. Julian Owens and the Rev. Rex Hall officiating. Interment will be in the Cole Cemetery.

McCready
James Fulton McCready, age 95, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999 in the Spohn Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Mr. McCready was a native of Seven Mile Ford, had lived in Glade Spring for many years, had lived in Maryland, and most recently in Texas. He retired from the First National Bank of Saltville in 1973.
Mr. McCready was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Hull McCready.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara M. Eder, Salisbury, Md., and Mrs. Tom (Trish) Ballou, Taft, Texas; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. today, Feb. 3, in Farris Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Adams officiating, assisted by Tom Ballou. Burial will be in Knollkreg Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Orr
Morris E. Orr Sr., age 77, of Glade Spring, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
Mr. Orr was a lifelong resident of Washington County and a member of Glade Spring Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of World War II and was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Arlene Dunn Orr.
Survivors include four sons, Larry Orr, Morris E. Orr Jr., and Richard Lee Orr, all of Glade Spring, and Jack David Orr, Wytheville; four daughters, Lillian Orr Bates Philpott and Bonnie C. Bates, both of Marion, Mary Sue Gilley and Libby Owens, both of Glade Spring; one brother, Roby Lee Orr Sr., Glade Spring; three sisters, Marjorie Trent, Damascus, Maggie Bowers and Lillian Carver, both of Glade Spring; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m. in Farris Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Timothy Bird and the Rev. Lacy Andrews officiating. Interment will be in Old Glade Presbyterian Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.

Osborne
Preston Osborne, age 52, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999 in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Osborne worked at Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute for many years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Osborne of Glade Spring; three daughters, Tiffany Osborne and Heather Stickler, both of Glade Spring, and Tammy Stickler of Abingdon; three sons, Matthew Preston Osborne, Andrew Stickler, both of Glade Spring, and Corey Farmer of Chilhowie.
Funeral services will be held today, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Harry Howe officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery.

Virginia "Ginger" Overbay, age 70, of Atkins, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Talmadge L. Overbay of Atkins; three stepdaughters, Patty Jackson of Elkton, Md., Debra Night and Barbara Fuller, both of Kansas City, Mo.; three stepsons, Eddie Overbay of St. Louis, Mo., Dennis Overbay of Kansas City, Mo., and Jerry Overbay of Aberdeen, Md.; 10 step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held today, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Harry Howe officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat.

Copenhaver
Charles Hughes Copenhaver, age 70, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999 at his home in the Lodi Community.
Mr. Copenhaver was a lifelong resident of Washington County. He was a member of Old Glade Presbyterian Church in Glade Spring and a former member of Bristol Rotary Club and the Masonic Lodge. He was a trooper with the Virginia State Police and a graduate of Cincinnati College of Embalming in Cincinnati. He was a licensed funeral director and embalmer and a former employee of Lotz Funeral Home in Roanoke and former owner and president of Blevins Funeral Home in Bristol.
Mr. Copenhaver was a member of National Funeral Directors Association, Virginia Funeral Directors Association and Southwest Virginia Funeral Directors Association. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife, Eula Faye Copenhaver; one daughter, Leigh Ann Copenhaver of Glade Spring; two stepsons, Woody Warren and Travis Warren, both of Chilhowie; several nieces and nephews; his mother- and father-in-law, Elwood and Zelma Powers, Chilhowie; sisters-in-law, Dot Copenhaver of Bristol, Tenn., and Mable Bowman of Bristol; brothers-in-law, Leon Powers and Woody Powers, both of Chilhowie, and Joe Powers of Bluff City, Tenn.
Graveside services were conducted Thursday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m. in Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon, with the Rev. Mahlon Wyatt and the Rev. Tim Bird officiating. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 18129 North Fork River Road, Abingdon, VA 24210.

Cornett
Henry C. Cornett, age 75, of Damascus, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
Mr. Cornett was a lifelong resident of Damascus and a son of the late Sam J. and Amanda Vannoy Cornett. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of VFW Post 9830 in Damascus. He was a member of Wrights Chapel United Methodist Church and attended Laurel Community Church. He was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Cleveland Cornett.
Surviving are five sisters, Margaret C. McCrady and Linna "Lynn" C. Shaffer, both of Abingdon, Lucille C. Evans of Damascus and Martha L. Bellamy and Grace C. Wingard, both of Bristol, Tenn.; one brother, Paul F. Cornett of Damascus; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted today, Dec. 31, at 1 p.m. in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.J. Cullop and the Rev. Harry Layell officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park with military rites by Patton-Crosswhite VFW Post 6975. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Laurel Community Church in Damascus.

Herbert J.B. Keyes, age 54, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999 at his home in Sugar Grove.
Mr. Keyes was an active member and deacon of Valley View Baptist Church. He was the owner of Sugar Grove Lawn & Garden.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Smith Keyes of Sugar Grove; one daughter, Tammy Keyes Quillen of Marion; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Randall Eugene Keyes and Christopher J.B. and Kimberly Keyes, all of Sugar Grove; three sisters, Lena Pruitt and Thelma Keyes, both of Sugar Grove, and Mildred Paisley of Galax; five half-brothers, Ellis Keyes and Cleve Parks, both of New Freedom, Penn., Tom Parks and Roy Parks, both of Sugar Grove, and Roby Parks of Atkins; two half-sisters, Zola Freeman of Charlottesville, and Hildred Imes of Woodstock, Ga.; three grandchildren, Angela Quillen, Crystal Quillen and Jeremy Keyes.

Charles Melvin Morrison, age 52, of Meadowview, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999 in Johnson City Medical Center.
Mr. Morrison was a lifelong resident of Washington County and a son of Flora Morrison of Meadowview. He had lived all of his life in Meadowview and was a member of High Point Baptist Church and New Voice Support Group. He was employed with D&H Tractor in Chilhowie.
Surviving, besides his mother, are his wife, Dixie Stamper Morrison; one son and daughter-in-law, Melvin Wayne and Rose Cox Morrison of Abingdon; one brother, Ray Morrison of Glade Spring; one sister, Dorothy Musser of Shady Valley, Tenn.
Funeral services will be conducted today, Dec. 31, at 3 p.m. in Farris Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Critcher officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
