Clark
Albert Eugene Clark, age 45, of Newbern, formerly of Troutdale, died Sunday, March 5, 2000 at Pulaski Community Hospital in Pulaski.
Mr. Clark was born May 17, 1954 at Troutdale, to Sidney Allen and Fannie Darnell Clark. He was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving are his mother, Fannie D. Clark, Troutdale; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie and Allen Dixon, Chilhowie, and Reba and Glenn Baker of Troutdale; one brother, Richard Allen Clark, Troutdale; one half-sister, Glenna Crewey, Marion; a special friend, Eunice Dillow, Newbern; several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held today, March 8, at 11 a.m. in Troutdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Ricky Bolick, the Rev. James Farley, and the Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Interment will be in Troutdale Cemetery.

Harris
Beulah Oleta Harris, age 86, of Glade Spring, died Monday, March 6, 2000 in Johnston Memorial Hospital n Abingdon.
Mrs. Harris was the widow of James A. Harris Sr. and a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving are a son, James A. "Jamie" Harris II of Glade Spring; two grandsons, Jason Harris and Jeremy Harris; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Ann Parker, Chilhowie.
Funeral services will be conducted today, March 8, at 2 p.m. in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with burial in Old Glade Presbyterian Cemetery in Glade Spring.

Heffinger
Eva M. Cochran Heffinger, age 79, formerly of Anawalt, W.Va., died Wednesday, March 1, 2000 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
Mrs. Heffinger was the widow of Marvin E. Heffinger and a member of Rock Chapter 130 Order of Eastern Star of Rock, W.Va.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy N. Noble of Woodbridge, and Linda S. Harrell of Chilhowie; one son, Jack L. Heffinger of Anawalt, W.Va.; three sisters, Lillian Marshall of Hillsville, Elizabeth Lester of Montcalm, and Gertrude Creel of Lynn Haven, Fla.; two brothers, Joe Cochran of Radford and Amos Cochran of New Albany, Miss.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 5, at 2 p.m. in Barnett’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Blevins officiating. Burial was in Rose Lawn Cemetery.

Rose
Della Entis Rose, age 90, died Saturday, March 4, 2000 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
Mrs. Rose was a daughter of the late Rev. Charlie Ashby and Mary Compton Ashby. She was the widow of Clinton A. Rose.
She was a member of Rugby Chapel Free Will Baptist Church of Caney Ridge for more than 65 years.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Dale E. and Rowan H. Rose of Hampton; one sister, Earma Ashby; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 5, at 6 p.m. in Rosewood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with the Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating.

Sprinkle
Charles E. Sprinkle, age 84, of Glade Spring, died Thursday, March 2, 2000 in Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie.
Mr. Sprinkle had lived all his life in Washington County, was a veteran of World War II and was of the Baptist faith. He was the widower of Lula F. Sprinkle.
Surviving are three sons, Eddie Sprinkle of Abingdon, Danny Sprinkle of Meadowview, and Charles Sprinkle Jr.; one daughter, Eva Boardwine, Saltville; seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 5, at 2 p.m. in Farris Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bob Surber officiating. Burial was in Mount Rose Cemetery.

Walls
Irene Miller Walls, age 72, of Marion, formerly of Whitetop, died Friday, March 3, 2000 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
Mrs. Walls was born April 17, 1927 at Chilhowie, the daughter of Worth and Luna Blevins Miller.
Surviving are her husband, Andy Glenn Walls, of the home; one daughter, Regina Walls Reeves of Abingdon; her mother, Luna Blevins of Marion; two sisters, Ruth Miller and Okie James, both of Marion; one half-brother, Ward Miller of Bowie, Md.; two half-sisters, Annie Jones, Warrensville, N.C., and Maxine Williams of Mouth of Wilson; two grandchildren, Melinda Reeves and Jacob Blevins, both of Marion; one great-grandson, J.C. Blevins, Marion.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 6, at 11 a.m. in Helton Valley Baptist Church in Whitetop with the Rev. Rex Hall and the Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Woodward
Jeanetta Lee Woodward, age 65, of Saltville, died Sunday, March 5, 2000 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
Mrs. Woodward was the widow of Robert L. Woodward and was of the Christian faith.
Surviving are three sons, Michael Woodward and Ronnie Woodward, both of Saltville, and Tim Woodward of Glade Spring; two daughters, Patricia Watson of Williamsburg and Marie Coe of Glade Spring; her mother, Ola Hamm Poole, Rural Retreat; one brother, Bobby Poole of Flatridge; three sisters, Mary Lou McGrady and Linda Umberger, both of Rural Retreat, and Lena Bonham of Marion; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Rachel "Poochie" Kestner.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, March 7, at 2 p.m. in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Briggs and the Rev. Gene Little officiating. Burial was in Elizabeth Cemetery.

Eastridge
John David Eastridge, age 74, of Glade Spring, died Wednesday, March 8, 2000 at the McVey’s Rest Home in Abingdon.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and retired from Norfolk & Southern Railroad.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter; two brothers; two sisters; one grandson; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were conducted Thursday, March 9, at 2 p.m. at the Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring with the Rev. Shirley Carter officiating. Military rites were conducted by the Saltville VFW Post #7328 "Hardy Roberts."

Scott
Nannie Hardy Scott, age 92, died Wednesday, March 8, 2000 in Winter Park, Fla.
Mrs. Scott was born Sept. 29, 1907 in Lunenburg County where she lived until her high school years and then moved to Kenbridge. She was a graduate of Radford College and taught in Appalachia. She met and married George F. Scott and had two children, Fannie and Sam. They lived 52 years in Norton where she was a devoted, loving wife, mother and member of the Norton Methodist Church. She had resided at the Winter Park Towers since 1986 and was a member of the Winter Park Presbyterian Church.
Her philosophy of life is best told in the scriptural passage which says, "A man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of things which he possesseth."
Surviving are a brother, John W. Clarke of Salem; one daughter, Fannie Hillman LeFevre of Winter Park, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Scott Selby of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren, Scott Hillman of Winter Park, Fla., David Hillman of Munford, Ala., Mary Hillman Greer, Clarke Scott and Grayson Scott, all of Atlanta, Ga.; five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Monday, March 13, at 11 a.m. at Mount Carmel Cemetery with the Rev. Rita E. White officiating.

Adair
Mary Farris Adair, age 88, of Glade Spring, died Sunday, March 12, 2000 in Valley Health Care in Chilhowie.
Mrs. Adair was the widow of R.W. Farris and Thomas Bryan Adair. She was a member of Glade Community First Church of God, and was an avid gardener and an award-winning quilter.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Sue Farris Honaker and Betty Farris Zavala.
Surviving are five sons, Elmer Farris and Joe Adair, both of Glade Spring, Moe Adair of Bristol, Curtis Adair of Kingsport, Tenn., Harold Ruetschi Farris of Emory; three daughters, Anne Farris of Glade Spring, Freida Adair Harrington of Abingdon, and Eleanor "Judy" Farris Velasco of Houston, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted today, March 15, at 11 a.m. in Farris Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gene Little officiating. Burial will be in the Elizabeth Cemetery in Saltville.

Atwood
Okie Pierce Atwood, age 89, widow of James T. Atwood, died Sunday, March 12, 2000 at Trivett’s Private Christian Home for the Elderly in Chilhowie.
Mrs. Atwood was a member of the Troutdale Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Jack Rutherford of McDonough, Ga.; two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Noni Atwood and B.J. and Margaret Atwood, all of Marion; one sister, Mamie Richardson of North Tazewell; two sisters-in-law, Denton Atwood of Marion, and Marie Atwood of Troutdale; four grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 14, at 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ken Riggins officiating. Graveside services will be held today, March 15, at 11 a.m. at Troutdale Cemetery with the Rev. Neville Mozingo.
