Brooks
Daphne L. Blevins Brooks, age 71, died Monday, April 10, 2000 at her home in Saltville.
Mrs. Brooks was the wife of the late Ralph Brooks and the daughter of the late Samuel and Alice Blevins.
Surviving are one daughter, Sandra Hunt; three grandchildren and spouses, Tommy Hunt and wife Renee, Susan Hunt Maiden and Daniel, and Devin Hunt Puckett and Dave; four great-grandchildren, Auburn Rose Hunt, Zachary Tyler Surber, Mayson Lee Maiden and Tayler Brooke Puckett; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn Blevins Barr and husband Roger, Chilhowie, Geneva Blevins Harris and husband Tommy of Saltville, Elizabeth Blevins Hayden, wife of the late Carl Hayden of Saltville; eight nieces and nephews; 12 great-nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted today, April 12, at 2 p.m. at the Mount Rose Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Briggs officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home prior to the graveside service.

Caldwell
William Joseph Caldwell Sr., age 80, died Friday, April 7, 2000 at his home in Rural Retreat.
Mr. Caldwell was born in Marion and lived most of his life on Hawthorne Hollow Road in Rural Retreat. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, a member of the Sharon Baptist Church, and had retired from the Raytheon Corporation in Bristol, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Okie Russell Caldwell; and two sisters, Dorothy and Martha.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Mae Caldwell, of the home; two daughters and son-in-law, Brenda Sue and Paul Nalley, Annandale, and Melissa Caldwell of Greensboro, N.C.; three sons and daughters-in-law, William J. Jr. and Doris Caldwell, James D. and Sharon Caldwell, all of Rural Retreat, and Robert S. and Betty Caldwell, Kingsport, Tenn.; one sister, Joana Wolfe, of Maryland; one brother, John Edward Caldwell, Atkins; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 10, at 11:30 a.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert C. Underwood officiating. Interment followed in the Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery in Rural Retreat.

Senior Airman Troy Dewayne Call, age 24, of MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla., died April 7, 2000.
He was formerly of Morristown, Tenn., where he was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother, Donna Call Hutchins; his father, David W. Call; one brother, Bradley W. Call; his grandmother, Grace Stuart of Saltville; several aunts and uncles; very special friends, Mary Glo Capistrano, Tonya Smith and Alex Hutchins.
Funeral services will be held today, April 12, at 10 a.m. at Stubblefield Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Clem officiating. Interment will follow at Hamblen Memory Gardens with full military honors.

Coleman
Elizabeth L. Coleman, age 58, died Thursday, April 6, 2000 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
Mrs. Coleman was born in Madisonville, Ky., and was a member of the Groseclose First Church of God.
Surviving are her husband, Noah Coleman; one daughter and son-in-law, Betsey and Darren Wingo, Rural Retreat; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris Coleman, and Stephen and Renee Coleman, all of Rural Retreat; one sister, Mary Barber, Madisonville, Ky.; four brothers, Eddie Forbes, Dawson Springs, Ky., James C. Forbes, Andrew J. Forbes, and Thomas L. Forbes, all of Madisonville, Ky.; one granddaughter, Kara Elise Wingo; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 9, at 2 p.m. in Bradley’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Putnam officiating. Burial followed in Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat.

Goins
Sally Schwartz Goins, age 71, died Sunday, April 9, 2000 in Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn.
Mrs. Goins was a member of Russell’s Chapel Church and was retired from Brunswick Corporation.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy "Cotton" Goins, and a brother, Noel Schwartz.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Pat and Lewis Branson of Clarksville, Tenn., Pam and Herman Cress, and Sandy Allison, all of Marion; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Jackie Goins and Alan and Jo Jo Goins, all of Clarksville, Tenn.; four brothers, Earl "Tiny" Schwartz of Orlando, Fla., Jack Schwartz of Marion, Jaybird Schwartz of Rural Retreat, and David Schwartz of Richmond; one sister, Mary "Beezy" Testament, Marion; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today, April 12, at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Herman Cress officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat.

Hutton
Major B. Hutton, age 87, died Friday, April 7, 2000 in Grace Healthcare in Abingdon.
Mr. Hutton was preceded in death by his wife, Mary H. Hutton and was a former resident of Francis Marion Manor Nursing Home.
He is survived by two nephews, Jeff Hutton of Marion, and Richard Hutton of Bristol; one niece, Sharon Hutton of Canonsburg, Penn..
Funeral services were held Monday, April 10, at 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Burial followed in Rose Lawn Cemetery.

Shockley
Buford Eugene Shockley, age 83, of Wytheville, died Friday, April 7, 2000 in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Mr. Shockley was Deputy Sheriff of Wythe County from Aug. 8, 1946 until he was appointed Sheriff of Wythe County on Sept. 12, 1955 due to the death of Sheriff Muncy Sutherland, who was his father-in-law. He was elected Sheriff in November 1955 and served until his retirement Dec. 31, 1979. He was a veteran of World War II.
The son of the late Oliver and Maggie McGlothlin Shockley, he was also preceded in death by his wife, June Sutherland Shockley; one son, David Shockley; and two brothers, Fred and Charles Shockley.
Surviving are one daughter, Jeane S. Powers Russell, Limestone, Tenn.; one son, Kenny B. Shockley, Marion; one sister, Bessie Mabry, Max Meadows; five grandchildren, Angela Powers Scalf, Cindy Jeane Powers, both of Johnson City, Tenn., Raven Shockley, India Shockley, and Elijah Shockley, all of Sullivan, Ind.; one great-granddaughter, Kyla Scalf, Johnson City, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 11, at 11 a.m. in the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Crockett officiating. Entombment was in the Rosewood Memorial Garden Mausoleum.

Billy James Street, age 80, of Chilhowie, died Friday, April 7, 2000 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Street, Chilhowie; three sons and one daughter, Nathan Street of Chilhowie, Ray Street, Atkins, Russell Street of Chilhowie, and Mary Barker of Marion; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Dolal King and Mary Harris, both of Honaker, Eular Harris of Richmond; one brother, Robert Street of Michigan; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 10, 11 a.m. in Barnett’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Lambert officiating. Burial followed in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Allison
Nellie S. Allison, age 85, of Saltville, died Sunday, April 16, 2000 at Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie.
Mrs. Allison was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Buck Allison and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Smith. She was a retired LPN and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Surviving are two sons, Clarence R. "Buddy" Allison and Neal Rodney Allison, both of Kingsport, Tenn.; two sisters, Bessie Lee Allison, Kingsport, Tenn., and Myrtle Hess, Saltville; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 18, at 2 p.m. at the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with her grandsons, the Rev. Dave Allison and the Rev. Paul Allison officiating. Burial followed in the Elizabeth Cemetery.

Dolly H. Burgess, age 55, died Sunday, April 16, 2000 at her home in Saltville.
Mrs. Burgess was preceded in death by a son, Robert W. Burgess Jr., and her father, L.B. Hayden. She attended the Buckeye Hollow Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are her husband, Robert W. Burgess, Saltville; one son, Jonathan Burgess, of the home; one daughter, Marcy May, of the home; her mother, Louise Hayden, Saltville; one brother, Jimmy Hayden, Saltville; one sister, Phyllis Swartz, Saltville; two grandchildren, Travis May and Brittany May; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted today, April 19, at 2 p.m. at the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Wade Kestner and the Rev. Don Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Clark
Ella Mae Clark, age 67, of Chilhowie, died Saturday, April 15, 2000 in Indian Path Hospital in Kingsport, Tenn.
Mrs. Clark was born in Russell County, the daughter of the late John E. and Rosa White Hughes and had lived in Chilhowie the past 33 years. She was the widow of George Clark Jr., and was also preceded in death by one sister, Georgia Lampkins.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Dingus-Dickenson, Castlewood, and Linda Stevens, Cleveland; one son, James Clark, Chilhowie; one sister, Juanita Phipps, Troutdale; one brother, John Hughes, Chilhowie; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 18, at 11 a.m. in Combs Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Russell Baldwin officiating. Burial followed in the Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood.

Foti
Patrick P. Foti, age 80, died Monday, April 17, 2000 in Maple Grove Retirement Home in Chilhowie.
Mr. Foti was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II and received a Purple Heart and three Battle Stars.
Surviving are one son, Darrell Foti of New Jersey; two sisters, Mrs. H.B. (Dorothy) Robinson, and Mrs. M.C. (Barbara) Hinson, both of Seven Mile Ford; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 20, at 8 p.m. in Barnett’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Halsey and the Rev. Sidney Mays officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. before the service.
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 21, at 11 a.m. in Riverside Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the Francis Marion VFW Post 4667.
