Vickie Lynn Bocock, age 40, died Thursday, June 29, 2000 at her home in Roanoke.
Ms. Bocock was a daughter of Helen Patsy Walls and Rudolph Moore, both of Roanoke.
Surviving, besides her parents, are a daughter, Rebecca Irene Patterson of Eden, N.C.; two sisters, Debra Hall and Esther Barton, both of Roanoke; one granddaughter, Myka Taylor Patterson; several aunts and uncles; several nieces.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, July 3, at 2 p.m. in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Surber officiating. Burial was in Taylor-Cooley Cemetery.

Branche
Diana Marilyn Branche, age 69, of Summit Point, WV, formerly of the St. Clair Creek community of Smyth County, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
She was the widow of Bruce L. Branche and the daughter of Harry W. and Mabelle Gross Syer.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda Ingle of Summit Point, WV, Mrs. Carl "Elaine" Ingle of Mechanicsville, Md., Mrs. Michael "Patricia" Snead of Davy, Fla.; two sons, Floyd Hicks Jr. of Summit Point, WV and Michael Hicks of Colonial Beach, Va.; a special cousin, Roberta Veley of Summit Point, WV; 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2000, at the Rush Creek Primative Baptist Church with the elders Samuel Whittington, Eddie Lyle, Curt Heath, Eugene Blevins and Billy Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the Rush Creek Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 5 at the funeral home. Newberry Funeral Home in Chilhowie is in charge of the arrangements.
McPherson
Donna Jean McPherson, age 75, of Whitetop, died Saturday, July 1, 2000 in Avante at Roanoke Nursing Home in Roanoke.
Mrs. McPherson was born in Whitetop, a daughter of the late Willie and Lucinda Hart Wingler, and was the widow of Verbal Thomas McPherson. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry D. Wingler.
Surviving are a daughter, Louise Russell of Blackstone; one son, Charles "Toby" Parham of Whitetop; one sister, Ruth Farmer of Whitetop; three brothers, Elzie Wingler and Arnold Wingler, both of Whitetop, and Ambrose Wingler of Columbus, Ohio; one son-in-law, Wayne Russell of Blackstone; one daughter-in-law, Alma Parham of Whitetop; five grandchildren, Melissa Parham and fiancé Paul Henshaw of Dinwiddie, Jenny and Bruce Rogers of Portsmouth, Larry and Sandra Russell of Colonial Heights, Watt and Lara Russell of Chesterfield, and Andy and Trish Russell of Richmond; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 4, at 1 p.m. in Whitetop Baptist Church with the Rev. T.A. Pennington and the Rev. Johnnie Ray Finley officiating. Burial was in Whitetop Cemetery.

Medeiros
Viola Madeline Wambolt Medeiros, age 86, died Sunday, July 2, 2000 in the Smyth County Community Hospital.
Mrs. Medeiros was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Medeiros, and one son, Robert Medeiros.
Survivors include three daughters: Marilyn Martins, Fall River, Mass., Shirley Bergeron, Orange, Calif., and Carol Madsen, Elk Grove, Calif.; two sons, Larry Medeiros, Marion, and Errol Medeiros, Edgewater, Fla.; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 4, at 2 p.m. in Bradley’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Interment followed in Resurrection Gardens.

Perrin
Nancy C. Perrin, age 56, of Damascus, died Thursday, June 29, 2000 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
Mrs. Perrin was born in Smyth County, a daughter of the late Wardie and Verla Hodges Pennington and had lived in Washington County most of her life. She was the widow of William H. Perrin.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 9830, where she held various offices, and was a member of the Azen Baptist Church in Konnarock.
Surviving are a daughter, Tammy Leigh Perrin of Damascus; one son, Edward Lance Perrin of Damascus; one sister, Cleta Mae Blevins of Fayetteville, W.Va.; two brothers, Jerry Pennington of Damascus, and Aulbon Pennington of Konnarock; one grandson, Noah Charles Perrin; a very special niece, Jane Wilcox; a very special friend, Lois Pagliasotti; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were conducted Sunday, July 2, at 2 p.m. in Azen Cemetery in Konnarock with the Rev. Jerry Fritz and the Rev. David Critcher officiating.

Sullivan
Amos Lee Sullivan, age 85, of Chilhowie, died Sunday, July 2, 2000 at the Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
Mr. Sullivan was a member of Chilhowie Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Hash Sullivan, Chilhowie; two daughters, Janet Sue Osborne and Eva Lee Eastridge, both of Chilhowie; four sisters, Magdalene Davenport, Ruth Belcher, and Ethel Jackson, all of Chilhowie, and Nancy Regan, Lynchburg; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 4, at 1 p.m. at the Newberry Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Herrell and the Rev. John T. Osborne officiating. Burial followed in the Macedonia Cemetery.

Caldwell
Samuel D. Caldwell died Tuesday, July 4, 2000 at his home in Freehold, N.J.
He was a retired first sergeant with the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Susie Caldwell; two daughters, Janice Caldwell and Kathleen Zuma; one sister, Anna Mae Greer of West Grove, Penn.; one brother, Albert Caldwell of Atkins; three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today, July 8, at 10 a.m. in Higgins Funeral Home in Freehold, N.J. Burial will follow in New Jersey.

Nathan Virgil Osborne, age 42, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000 in Princeton, W.Va.
Surviving are his wife, Zana Weese Osborne; two sons, Virgil Gale Osborne and Devin Sanchez Osborne, both of Matoaka, W.Va.; two brothers, Ken Osborne and David Osborne, both of Marion.
Graveside services will be conducted today, July 8, at 11 a.m. in Haw Orchard Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Cregger officiating.

William R. "Bill" Mabe, age 61, died Saturday, July 8, 2000 at Asbury Center at Birdmont, Wytheville.
He is survived by his wife, Gladie Stroupe Mabe of Seven Mile Ford; two brothers, Charles M. Mabe Sr., of Nottingham, Penn., and Hurley "June" Mabe of Marion; three sisters, Dorothy Martin of Roanoke, Bertha Reeves of Marion, and Helen Coley of Wytheville; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 11, at 2 p.m. at Attoway Cemetery with the Rev. Wyndom Davidson officiating.

Callie Tilson Quesenberry, age 79, died Friday, July 8, 2000 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon. She was the widow of Cyril Quesenberry.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, James Clinton and Margaret E. Tilson of Baltimore, Md., and Clifford and Brenda G. Parsons Sr., of Independence; two sisters, Mattie Stoots Parsons of Marion, and Sadie Daily of West Point, Ky.; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one special niece, Annie M. Osborne; a special friend, Joyce D. Stanger.

Chessie Mae Sheets, age 76, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000 in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Sheets was the widow of James Charlie Sheets Sr., and was preceded in death by one son, James Charlie Sheets Jr.
Survivors include eight daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Thomas Gibson, Cumberland Gap, Tenn., Margaret and Walter Blevins, Carolyn and Roy Russell, Joyce and J.R. Sexton, Sherri and Jason Nutter, all of Marion, Kathy and David Carrico, Martha and Jerry Creasy, all of Chilhowie, and Vickie and Lee Yates of Meadowview; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Resa Sheets of Rural Retreat, and Jimmy and Betty Sheets of Atkins; five half sisters; two half brothers; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 13, at 11 a.m. in Barnett’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Creasy officiating. Burial will follow in South Fork Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Katherine Bice Snow, age 83, of Saltville, died Friday, July 7, 2000 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
Mrs. Snow was the widow of George Dayton Snow. She was of the Christian faith and a member of Mount Pleasant Union Church.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, James Dayton and Mary Ann Snow of Abingdon; two brothers, William G. "Bill" Bice of Marion and Thomas Bice of Aberdeen, Md.; one sister, Dorothy Hayden of Saltville; one granddaughter, Tara Snow; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Eva Hammond and Oliver Doane.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, July 10, at 2 p.m. in Mount Pleasant Union Church with the Rev. Chuck Blevins officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Testerman
James Irvin "Jim" Testerman Sr., age 62, died Sunday, July 9, 2000 at his home in Konnarock.
Mr. Testerman was born in Smyth County, the son of Dora Testerman of Konnarock and the late Arde Testerman. He was a U.S. Navy retired veteran, a master plumber from Arlington County Parks and Recreation and a member of AARP. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving besides his mother are a daughter, Heidi Lin Taylor of Meadowview; three sons, James Irvin Testerman Jr., Virginia Beach, Scott Testerman, Front Royal, and Brian Keith Testerman, Aberdeen, Md.; six sisters, Marie Bowers, Naomi Stanberry and JoAnn Shumate, all of Konnarock, Rena Rees of Spotsylvania, Shirley Snider of Colonial Beach, and Phyllis Latham of Abingdon; one brother, Clifton Testerman of Chilhowie; 11 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his loving companion of 23 years, Lorene Stacey of Konnarock; her daughter, Betty J. Davis of Cartersville.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 11, at 1 p.m. in St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church of Konnarock with the Rev. Wiley Mayo officiating. Music was by David Johnson. Burial was in Laurel Valley Cemetery in Konnarock.
