Virginia, U.S., Marriage Records, 1936-2014

Clinemyer
John J. (Buster) Clinemyer died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1997 in Marion.
Mr. Clinemyer was a native of Pennsylvania, and a member of the St. Brigids Catholic Church in Lilly, Penn. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served in the Korean War. He was a former president of the Blair and Bedford Counties Central Labor Council. He was employed at the Blue Ridge Job Corp Center in Marion at the time of his death.
Survivors include four daughters: Sandra Mangold, Ebensburg, Penn., Denise Boylin and Jacqueline Myers, both of Lilly, Penn., and Michelle Casado, Clover, Penn.; three sons, John J. Clinemyer III, Gallitzin, Penn., William Clinemyer, Jasper, Penn., and James Clinemyer, Duncansville, Penn.; two sisters, Barbara Bender, Hagerstown, Md., and Charles Clinemyer, Salem; 12 grandchildren.
A mass of Christian burial will be held later in Pennsylvania.
Barnett's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Howell
Robert Lee "Bobby" Howell, age 41, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997 in Baggs, Wyo.
Mr. Howell was formerly of Marion and had lived in Baggs, Wyo., for many years. He was preceded in death by his father, Bryan Howell.
He is survived by his wife, Anita King Howell of Baggs, Wyo.; two daughters, Barbara Howell and Crystal Howell, both of Baggs, Wyo.; one son, Matthew Howell of Baggs, Wyo.; his mother, Dwade Coe Howell of Chilhowie; three sisters, Dessie Sadler of Chilhowie, Mary Goodman of Marion, and Charlotte Felts of Fries; three brothers, Dean Howell of Rawlings, Wyo., Charles Howell of Chilhowie, and Duane Howell of Atkins; several nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts.
Funeral services will be held today, Jan. 18, at 2 p.m. at Grants Mortuary in Craig, Colo. Burial will follow in Craig, Colo. A local memorial service will be held today at 2 p.m. in Freedom Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Friends may call at the home of his mother, Dwade Coe Howell, in Chilhowie.
Seaver-Brown Funeral Service is in charge of local arrangements.

Lamie
Garland Lamie, age 78, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1997 at his home in Glade Spring.
He was retired from the U.S. Gypsum Company, Plasterco, and was of the Apostolic faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ersula Lamie, Chatam Hill; one daughter, Irene Lamie Pittman.
Survivors include his wife, Hester Lamie; one son and daughter-in-law, George "Bud" and Revonda Lamie, Bland; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Ruth and Melvin Penland, Broadford, and Norma and Garry Thompson, Glade Spring; one brother, Norman Lamie, Broadford; one sister, Agnes Lamie, Hannibal, N.Y.; six grandchildren; one great-grandson.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, in the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Hamm officiating. Burial followed in the Ridgedale Cemetery.

Lawson
Larry Lawson, age 41, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997 at his home in Seven Mile Ford.
He is survived by one daughter, Jessica Lawson of Marion; one son, Johnthan Lawson of Marion; his mother, Zella Henderson Lawson; three sisters, Elizabeth Dunbar of Richmond, Ind., Betty Lundy of Sugar Grove, and Peggy Duncan of Charlottesville; six brothers: Pete Watkins of Salem, James Lawson of Richmond, Ind., Dallas Lawson and Roger Lawson, both of Glade Spring, David Lawson of Canadian, Okla., and Samuel Lawson of Zionville, N.C.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Otis Barker officiating. Private burial followed in Wassum Cemetery.

McConnell
Wayne Garrett McConnell, age 79, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997.
He was a native of Washington County and a member of the Damascus United Methodist Church. He was a member and former captain of the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department and was a retired employee of the Pet Milk Company and Washington Motor Company.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Miller McConnell; one daughter, Vicki M. Gentry, Damascus; two grandsons, Robbie Wayne Vannoy and David Nelson Vannoy, both of Damascus; two sisters, Teeny Staub and Louise Jones, both of Abingdon; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. in Damascus United Methodist Church with the Rev. Benny Huguely officiating. Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, 8940 Cumberland St., Bristol, VA 24201 or to the American Cancer Association, 167 E. Main St., Abingdon, VA 24210.
Johnson Funeral Home in Damascus was in charge of arrangements.

Privett
Wiley Wilson Privett, age 82, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997 in the Francis Marion Manor.
Mr. Privett was a native of Grayson County but had lived most of his life in Smyth County. He was retired from the Brunswick Corporation and was a member of the Comers Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Privett was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Brenda Murray.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie Sullivan Privett, Marion; two daughters, Margaret Campbell, Marion, and Elizabeth Jones, Aberdeen, Md.; one son, Johnny Privett, Bel Air, Md.; six sisters: Hazel Catron, Lake Wells, Fla., Bessie Brown, Piney Creek, N.C., Alice Powers, Marion, Ruby Noonkester, Bel Air, Md., Virgie Privett, Mullins, W.Va., and Carrie Tolliver, Princeton, W.Va.; one brother, Roby Privett, Troutdale; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Margie Shelton of Maben, W.Va.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 16, at 8 p.m. in Barnett's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Moorefield and the Rev. Phillip Duvall officiating. Burial was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at the Young Cemetery.
Barnett's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Wyatt
Thomas Randolph Wyatt, age 61, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1997 at his home in Saltville.
He was employed by the Rockville Crushed Stone Corporation for 26 years.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Elizabeth Wyatt; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Tabby Wyatt, Germantown, Md., and Thomas and Nykki Wyatt, Saltville; three daughters, Mr. Jerald (Patricia) Ward, Sharpsburg, Md., Mrs. B.J. (Linda) Bentley, Germantown, Md., and Cindy Wyatt, Saltville; nine brothers; Robert J. Wyatt, Charlie Wyatt, Earl Wyatt and James Wyatt, all of Saltville, John Edd Wyatt, Glade Spring, Curtis Wyatt of Tennessee, Truman Wyatt, Marion, Michael Wyatt of Pennsylvania, and Rhudy Lee Wyatt, Ceres; three sisters, Elizabeth Catron, Greeneville, Donna Waddle, Ceres, and Mary Ruth Wyatt, Saltville; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 18, in D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Claude Oliver and the Rev. Luther Watson officiating. Burial will be in Rich Valley Presbyterian Cemetery.

Brown
William Eugene "Billy" Brown, age 45, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital. He was of the Protestant Christian Faith and was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Sue Brown.
He is survived by his parents, William and Laura Grey Brown of Marion; two sisters, Wanda Breedlove and Mary Jett, both of Marion; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; a very special friend, Charlotte Osborne, and several other special friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 24, at 2 p.m. in Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Joe Powers and the Rev. Allen Osborne officiating. Burial followed in Rose Lawn Cemetery.
Seaver-Brown Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Cline
Ancil Lee Cline, age 58, of Rural Retreat, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Shelton Cline; one daughter, Leigh Cline; his father, Garland A. Cline; three brothers, Donald Robert Cline, James E. Cline and Stephen K. Cline.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Allen and Tammy Cline, Marion; two grandchildren, Timothy Allen Cline Jr., and Tamonthy Cline; his mother, Nelia Jane Cline, Wytheville; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Virginia and Quentin Sutphin, and Olivia "Libby" Caudle, all of Wytheville; Helen and Elmer Tickle, Max Meadows; and Ethel and Tex Willard, Darlington, S.C.; six brothers and sisters-in-law: McKinley and Louella Cline, Crockett; Walter and Katherine Cline, and Martin L. and Georgia Cline, all of Wytheville; William P. "Bill" and Linda Cline, Dublin; Randolph H. and Janie Cline, Marion; and Richard H. and Rebecca Cline, Rural Retreat; 24 nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held today, Jan. 25, at 1 p.m. at Barnett's Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Shupe and Pastor Edward Schaack officiating. Interment will follow in the West End Cemetery.

French
Gladys "Goff" French, age 84, of Wytheville, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997 in Wythe County Community Hospital.
She was a member of West End United Methodist Church, Wytheville, and was the widow of Robert E. French Sr.
Survivors include one son, Robert E. "Bob" French Jr., Abingdon; one daughter, June Cardwell, Wytheville; two sisters, Edna Henderson, Bristol, Tenn., and Flo Knutson, Florida; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, in Mount Rose Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Smith and the Rev. Harry Hite officiating.

Goodbrod
Gwendolyn C. Goodbrod, age 56, of Chilhowie, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997 in Williamsport Hospital and Medical Center, Pennsylvania.
She was a native of Jersey Shore, Penn., and was a graduate of Jersey Shore High School and the Williamsport School of Nursing. She was a licensed practical nurse and was employed by Divine Providence Hospital, Williamsport, Penn., early in her life.
She was the manager of Springford Mills Outlet in Chilhowie. She was a member of Chilhowie United Methodist Church and a member of the Ivanhoe Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, Jersey Shore, Penn. She enjoyed quilt making, sewing and crafts.
Survivors include her husband, Louis w. Goodbrod Jr.; two sons, Louis W. Goodbrod III, Chilhowie, and Gregory W. Goodbrod, a student at Shenandoah University, Winchester; two daughters, Monique D. Goodbrod, Radford, and Jennifer D. Goodbrod, Chilhowie; her parents, William L. and Evelyn Reeder Cohick, Avis, Penn.; two sisters, Jolie A. Marks, Avis, Penn., and Diane Y. Breon, Huron, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held today, Jan. 25, in Avis, Penn.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, in Chilhowie United Methodist Church.

Haynes
Herbert Lee "Herbie" Haynes, age 55, of Glade Spring, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997.
Mr. Haynes was a member of Quarry United Methodist Church and was an employee of Bristol Compressors.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Haynes; three sons, Greg Haynes, Mechanicsville, Bryan Haynes, Glade Spring, and Geoffrey Haynes, of the home; one stepson, Ross Henderson, Reno, Nev.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James W. "Jack" Haynes, Saltville; one brother, Tim Haynes, Saltville; four sisters, Eleanor Holmes, Linda Phipps, Teresa Dickens and Tammy Carter, all of Glade Spring; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two special friends, Sylvia Slagle and Lefty Tuggle.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, in Quarry United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harry Tindell and the Rev. Jim Wright officiating. Burial followed in Mount Rose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Quarry United Methodist Church.

Parks
Effie Carmel Parks, age 87, of Wytheville, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
She is survived by six sons: Marion Byrd Seabolt and Bobby Dean Parks, both of Rural Retreat; Ray Vernon Parks, Kenneth Eugene Parks and Ancil Terry Parks, all of Wytheville; John Preston Seabolt, Marion; two sisters, Gussie Mills, Wytheville, and Dorothy Louise Keen of Max Meadows; three brothers, Chrisman Smith of Crockett, Ross Smith of Rural Retreat, and Charles Smith of Fort Chiswell; a special friend, Fred Cline of Rural Retreat; 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 23, at 1 p.m. in the Lindsey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Hall officiating. Interment followed in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat.
