Davis
Ruby Aileen Dungan Davis, age 88, of Seven Mile Ford, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 1997 in Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie.
She attended the University of Virginia, was a graduate of Radford College and taught school for 14 years.
She was the widow of George A. Davis. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Dungan and Ted Dungan. She was a member of the Middle Fork Baptist Church, Chilhowie.
Survivors include two sisters, Lois D. Brickey, Broadford, and Marguerite D. Bunch, Seven Mile Ford; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, in Williams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.J. Cullop officiating. Burial was in Middle Fork Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the donor's church or favorite charity.

Ford
Dina M. Ford, age 77, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Acie Ford, Marion; two sons, Wayne Ford, Marion, and James Ford, Galax; two sisters, Myrtle Tucker, Sparta, Tenn., and Cora Carroll, Pikeville, Ky.; two daughters-in-law, Patricia Ford, Marion, and Billie Ford, Galax; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, in Seaver-Brown Chapel with Jack L. Goff officiating. Burial was in Rose Lawn Cemetery.

Gillespie
Mary Ann Harris Gillespie, age 67, of Saltville, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital. She was the widow of Walter Gillespie.
Survivors include one son, Henry Joseph "Buddy" Gillespie, Rich Valley; two daughters, Virginia Mae "Jean" Keith, Saltville, and Shirley Gillespie Stewart, Rich Valley; four brothers, James Edward Harris and Joe Cleveland Harris, both of Rich Valley, William Roy Harris, Ceres, and Jeff Harris, Marion; four sisters, Rosie Testerman and Elizabeth Horne, both of Atkins, Dorothy Lamie, Rich Valley, and Ruth Sult, Asheville, N.C.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 19, in the Ridgedale United Methodist Church with the Rev. Claude Oliver and the Rev. Luther Watson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Hammond
Harold E. Hammond, age 64, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 1997 at his home in Saltville.
He was a member of the First Church of God of Allison Gap, a member of William King Masonic Lodge No. 227 and a former employee of the Olin Corporation.
He was owner/operator of Discount Furniture and Appliance, Chilhowie.
Survivors include his wife, Noby (McIntyre) Hammond; two sons, Gary E. Hammond, Abingdon, and Scott M. Hammond, Chilhowie; one daughter-in-law, Paula Hammond, Chilhowie; one sister, Eva Hammond, Saltville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 19, in the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Mumpower and Dr. Woodrow McIntyre officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Rose Cemetery.

Holmes
Thomas "Curry" Holmes, age 98, of Saltville, died Monday, Feb. 17, 1997 in the Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Leona Lambert; and one son, Richard Holmes.
He was a farmer in Washington and Russell counties all his life. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and retired from Stuart Land and Cattle Company.
Survivors include his wife, Hettie Bailey Holmes; five sons, George Holmes, Bristol, Tenn., Mack Holmes, Clinchburg, Lee Holmes, Claude Holmes and Justin "Wayne" Holmes, all of Saltville; three daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Bertha) DeBord, Saltville, Virgie Harris and Beulah "Kate" Frye, both of Bristol, Tenn.; one sister, Rosie Boardwine, Abingdon; 23 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, in the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Franklin Chapman and the Rev. Lewis Price officiating. Burial will be in the Elizabeth Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. in the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel.

Jones
C. Louise Jones, age 69, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 1997 in Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Jones was born Sept. 29, 1927 in West Virginia to the late Luther and Edna Shepherd Lyons Wood. She had been living in the Thomas Bridge Community of Smyth County for 15 years. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Bill Wood.
Survivors include her husband, Silas Jones; two sons, James Jones, Thomasville, Penn., and Leland Jones, Newhall, W.Va.; four daughters, Mrs. Bernard (Thelma) Baker, Tannersville, Mrs. Dacil (Cheryl) Prince, Marion, Mrs. Daniel (Anita) Hayden, Groseclose, and Mrs. David (Brenda) Gillespie, Chilhowie; one brother, Roby B. Wood, Somerset, Ky., four sisters, Berla Mae Baker, Alexandria, Evangeline Billings, Marion, Agnes Neal, Norwich, Conn., and Phyllis Stupalasky, Princeton, W.Va.; one daughter-in-law, Clara Jones; a special friend, Donna Deel, War, W.Va.; nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m. in Barnett's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Whitener and the Rev. Mike Parks officiating. Burial followed in the Roselawn Cemetery.

Olson
Michelle Renee Olson, age 23, of Chilhowie, died Monday, Feb. 17, 1997.
She is survived by her parents, Henry E. and Margaret Osborne Olson, Hulls Cove, Maine; her twin brother, Michael E. Olson, Grand Junction, Colo., and another brother, Scott Olson, Fredricksburg.
The body will be cremated. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Hulls Cove, Maine.

Pickle
Lloyd George Pickle, age 79, of Groseclose, died Friday, Feb. 14, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda E. Pickle, and one son, Lloyd Neal Pickle.
Survivors include four daughters, Emma Jean Musser, Winston-Salem, N.C., Betty L. Testerman, Atkins, Cathy M. Buck, Rural Retreat, and Debbie Reedy, Mouth of Wilson; two sons, James P. Pickle, Wytheville, and Robert Alsbury, Tromball, Texas; two sisters, Rachel Odham, Tennessee, and Louise Lundy, North Carolina; three brothers, Ordery Pickle, Cincinnati, Ohio, Wesley Pickle and Hoover Pickle, both of Groseclose; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, in Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Groseclose.

Sanders
Nellie M. Sanders, age 68, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 1997 in Smyth County Community Hospital.
Mrs. Sanders was born June 23, 1928 in Grayson County, the daughter of the late Nathen Fields and Lessie Parks Anderson. She was a member of the Hopkins View Primitive Baptist Church in Thomas Bridge.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers: James, Harry, Kenneth and Glenn Anderson; and two sisters, Kate Stephenson and Mary Lou Adams.
Survivors include her husband, Fielden O. Sanders Sr.; one son and daughter-in-law, Fielden O. and Susan Sanders Jr., Rural Retreat; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra S. and Buford Overbay, Marion; two sisters, Maxine Bullins, Sugar Grove, and Ruth Weeks, South Carolina; three brothers, David V. Anderson and Stephen Anderson, both of Troutdale, and Charles Anderson, Groseclose; four grandchildren, Sarah and Ashley Sanders, Rural Retreat, and Randy and Jason Pafford, Marion.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Barnett's Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Ben Blevins and Elder Larry Blevins officiating. Burial was in the Fairwood Cemetery.

Semones
Ella Jane Williams Semones, age 95, of Wytheville, died Friday, Feb. 14, 1997 at her home.
She was a native of Nebo and a member of the Wytheville Church of God of Prophecy.
She was the widow of James Guy Semones.
Survivors include two sons, Jason Semones, Etowah, N.C., and Jerry Semones, Jarratt; one sister, Blanche W. Daugherty, Chilhowie; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, in Barnett's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Oscar "Sonny" Ayers officiating. Interment was in the West End Cemetery.

Blevins
Thomas Jonathan Blevins, age 82, died Tuesday, February 18, 1997 at a local nursing home in Stephenson, VA.
He was born December 11, 1914 to James Ceburn and Charity Catherine "Cack" Greer Blevins in The Highlands of Grayson County, VA. He had been a mission worker with Konnarock Lutheran Mission until its closing in 1959, after which he worked for the Fairfax County Government in pumping station maintenance until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of Burnt Factory United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, and a member of the Administrative Board of the Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Augusta Sluss Blevins of Stephenson, VA; three sons, Thomas Jonathan Blevins, Jr. of N. Hollywood, CA, Charles Lawton Blevins and David Carroll Blevins, both of Woodbridge, VA; three daughters, Mrs. Charles D. (Sheila) Brown of Winchester, VA, Kathryn Anne Bowers of Abingdon, VA, and Marjorie Karen Boeye of New Castle, CA; one sister, Ivory B. Chambers of Elk Creek, VA; two brothers, Elmer H. Blevins of Mouth of Wilson, VA and Charles Dawes Blevins of Marion, VA; 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday, February 21, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. at the Burnt Factory United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kathleen Monge and the Rev. Edwin K. Bowers officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Mr. Blevins' grandsons, the Burnt Factory Methodist Men, and Clarence Johnson. Burial was in the Shenandoah Memorial Park. Broyles
C. Frank Broyles, 70, died Thursday, February 20, 1997 in Bristol Nursing Home.
He was a retired painting contractor and a draftsman. He was also a veteran of World War II and a member of Bryars-Cobb United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, James A. Broyles and William E. Broyles of Glade Spring, VA; three sisters, Mrs. Mildred B. Hunting, Mrs. Margaret B. Hogston and Mrs. Anne B. Ellis, all of Glade Spring, VA; two nieces; one nephew; three great-nieces; and three great-nephews.

Henderson
Mae B. Henderson, age 89, of Damascus, VA died Tuesday, February 18, 1997 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA.
She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, VA and was the widow of Ted R. Henderson. She was a member of the Konnarock Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Konnarock, VA.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet Lawson of Damascus, VA and Agnes Reedy of Pineville, LA; five sisters, Thelma Milligan, Virginia Rollins, and Helen Peacher, all of Nokesville, VA, Lucy Ward of Morristown, TN, and Lillian Stringer of Great Falls, VA; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Henderson were conducted Thursday, February 20 in the Konnarock Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Pastor Ron Ihrig officiating. Burial was in Azen Cemetery of Konnarock, VA. Serving as pallbearers were Arley Hoosier, Jimmy Hoosier, Glenn Severt, Russell Adams, Bill Reedy, Tom Machin, and Ninevah Blevins. Honorary pallbearers were Earl Severt and Marvin Rider.
