NEWPORT NEWS - Isaac Dunn Jr., 46, formerly of Alton, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 2, 1951, in Halifax County.
Survivors include two daughters, Veronica Coleman of Alton, and Tamika Reed of Newport News; one son Isaac Reed of Roxboro, N.C.; five sisters, Viola Dunn and Annie Dunn both of Alton, Peggie Crews of Virgilina, Va. and Mary Morman of Nathalie, Va; three brothers, John Tucker of Alexandria, Sterling Tucker of Alton and Ralph Dunn of Hampton; and four grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 1 p.m. today at Dan River Bethel Baptist Church in Alton with the Rev. James Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Dunn Family cemetery.

Evelyn Edmonds
SOUTH BOSTON - Evelyn Petty Edmonds, 33, of 1211 Sinai Road, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 22, 1965, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of Willie Petty Sr.
She was married
to Gerald Edmonds, who survives.
In addition to her husband and father, both of South Boston, survivors include three sons, Gerald Edmonds Jr., Christopher Edmonds and Corey Edmonds, all of South Boston; one sister Robin Petty of Raleigh, N.C.; and one brother, Willie Petty Jr.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at County Line Baptist Church in Vernon Hill with the Rev. Otis Dillard officiating. Burial will be in Millstone Baptist Church cemetery in Nathalie.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Cathy Irby
MOORE, S.C. - Cathy G. Redd Irby, 40, of 316 Middleton Court, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia.
Born Nov. 10, 1958, in New Bern, N.C., she was the daughter of Iris C. Redd and the late John Clifton Redd.
She was married
to James W. Irby Jr., who survives.
She was a member of Clover United Methodist Church. She worked for human resources with Belk as an administrative assistant.
In addition to her mother of Clover, Va., and husband of Moore, survivors include one son, Toby Alan Irby of Moore; one daughter, Dana Maria Irby of Moore; one half-sister, Allison Pack of Charleston; and her grandmother, Doris Cavanaugh of Maysville, N.C.
She was also predeceased by one sister, Joy Redd Martin.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel in South Boston, Va., with the Rev. Ann Norton officiating. Burial will be in the Austin family cemetery, Clover.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and at other times at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Irby's home, Clover.
Frances Jones
DRY FORK - Frances G. Jones, 66, of 3380 Sandy Creek Road, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at Duke Medical Center in Durham, N.C., after a short period of declining health.
Born June 15, 1932, in Rocky Mount, she was the daughter of Ovi Turner and Katherine Turner.
She was married
Jan. 30, 1956, to Don C. Jones, who survives.
She had lived in Dry Fork for 20 years and was a member of Whitmell Christian Church. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her husband of the home, survivors include two sons, Dennis Mathis of Orlando, Fla., and Steve Jones of the home; two daughters, Cynthia Brown of the home and Melissa Sewell of Portsmouth; two sisters, Florence Geng of Holiday, Fla., and Ethel Eure of Rocky Mount, N.C.; and five grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Whitmell Christian Church with the Rev. Andrew Oakes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. today at the church and at other times at the residence.

George Lynch Jr.
RINGGOLD - George William Lynch Jr., 75, of 2160 Ferguson Road, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, after several months of declining health while in Duke Medical Center for five days.
Born May 15, 1923, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of George William Lynch Sr. and Annie Hall Lynch.
He was married
Dec. 18, 1943, to Catherine Barber Lynch, who survives.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He had lived all of his life in Pittsylvania County. He had retired from Pickeral Security Services where he worked as a guard. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of American Legion Post 325.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two sons, George W. Lynch III of Ringgold and Bruce Lynch of Keeling; two daughters, Ann L. Dix of Pelham, N.C., and Brenda L. McClanahan of Danville; one sister, Louise L. Zimmerman of Danville; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one son, Tony Wayne Lynch.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. today at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Rev. Melvin Winters officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.

Charles McDuffie
Charles Adam McDuffie, 50, of 723 Beauregard St., died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug, 6, 1948, he was the son of Adam McDuffie and Katherine Davis McDuffie.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served in Vietnam. He was a construction worker at Warrco Corp. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his father of Danville, survivors include one brother, Berkley McDuffie of Danville; one sister, Josie M. Jeffries of Danville; one daughter, Sharlavette Harper of Durham, N.C.; and one son, Darrell R. Harper of Danville.
A funeral will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at L.H. Brooks and Brothers Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Haywood Smith officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.

Nancy Osborne
MARTINSIVLLE Dr. Nancy Fontaine Osborne, 90, died Monday afternoon, Jan. 4, 1999, in King's Grant Retirement Community.
Born April 12, 1908, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of William A. Osborne and Mattie Wayte Osborne.
She was a graduate of Averett College and Westhampton College, and did post-graduate work at Columbia University, where she earned her doctorate in philosophy. She studied abroad at the Sorbonne in Paris. She was a former dean of women at Anderson University until her retirement in 1972.
She was a resident of Danville from 1972 until 1993 when she became a resident of King's Grant. She was a former member of West Main Baptist Church and was a member of First Baptist Church in Martinsville.
She was the last surviving member of her generation.
She was predeceased by one brother, William A. Osborne; five sisters, Celeste Osborne, Dorothy Taylor, Frances Kerns, Catherine Chaney and Elizabeth Stebbins.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at West Main Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Wilson and the Rev. Tom McCann officiating. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 6:30-7:30 p.m. today at Townes Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of her niece, Anne Adcock, 147 Clarendon Circle.
Nina Pryor
Nina Britton Pryor, 92, of 137 Lipton Lane, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999, at Riverside Health Care Center after two years of declining health.
Born March 23, 1906, in Guys Mills, Pa., she was the daughter of Reynolds Britton and Jenny Beuchat Britton.
She was married
to Emerson J. Pryor, who died in 1974.
She had lived in Danville since 1949, and was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Jack D. Pryor of Danville; one daughter-in-law, Ruth K. Pryor of Danville; two granddaughters, Cynthia P. Calvert of Wilson, N.C., and Jill C. Pryor of Moneta; four great-grandchildren and one-great-great granddaughter.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Dr. Tom Evans and the Rev. Jim Kleinfelter officiating.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel and at other times at the residence of Jack Pryor, 116 Lipton Lane.
John Stephens
John Linwood Stephens, 74, of 5468 Old Richmond Road, died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C.
Born April 30, 1925, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Claude Stephens and Lelia Banks Stephens.
He was married
to Hattie Saunders Stephens, who survives.
He was employed and retired from International Paper.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Inez Stephens Crawley of Midlothian; four sons, John Stephens, Howard Stephens and Randolph Stephens, all of Danville, and Elvis Stephens of Martinsville; six sisters, Ollie Barksdale, Alice Bowe, Elnora Carter, Odaris Clark, Lois Tabb and Dorothy Minter, all of Danville; and one brother, Herman Stephens of Blairs.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. today at Greater Triumph Baptist Church with the Rev. H.G. McGhee officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
