CHATHAM, Va. - Hazel Shelton Wilkes Walker, 72, of 913 Oxford Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born April 2, 1926, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Robert Lee Shelton and Tennie Owen Shelton.
She was married
to Douglas Walker.
She was a retired employee of the Lane Co.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include one son, Michael Wilkes of Dry Fork; two daughters, Faye Kirks of Dry Fork and Bonnie Holley of Callands; three brothers, Lee Shelton of Hurt, Fletcher (Sam) Shelton of Madison Heights and Woodrow Shelton of Martinsville; five grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.G. Rowland officiating. Burial will be in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home and at other times at the residence of Reeves "Buck" Keesee, 1005 Oxford Road, Chatham.
Anthony Easley
HALIFAX, Va. - Anthony Tony Easley, 33, of Baltimore, Md., formerly of Halifax, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Md.
Born Oct. 7, 1965 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of William Easley of Mount Rainier, Md., who survives.
In addition to his father, survivors include one sister, Linda Harris of Halifax; three brothers, Rickey Easley of Alexandria, William Easley of Halifax, Ben Crews of Washington, D.C.; one stepfather, Cornelius Chalmers of Halifax.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at New Mt. Olive Holiness Church in Halifax with the Rev. Leonia Palmer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Cornelius Chalmers at 1198 Crawford Road, Halifax.

Gracie Franklin
DANVILLE, Va. - Gracie Manley Franklin, 80, formerly of 348 Major Court, died Thursday morning, Feb. 11, 1999, at Roman Eagle Memorial Nursing Home.
Born April 8, 1918, in Wentworth, N.C., she was the daughter of George Washington Manley and Lily Owen Manley.
She was married
to Willard Thomas Franklin, who died Jan. 1, 1990.
She worked as a lab technician at Dan River Inc. until her retirement. She attended North Main Baptist Church. She was a member of the Dan River Retirees Club.
Survivors include one son, Billy Franklin of Danville; her daughter-in-law, Sandra Franklin of Danville; one daughter, Pat Pruitt of Danville; her son-in-law, Duane Pruitt of Danville; one brother, Robert Manley of Bedford; one sister, Lois Bray of Danville; two grandsons, Keith Pruitt and Robert Franklin, both of Danville; and one great-granddaughter, Candace Pruitt of Danville.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Dr. Eddie Davis and the Rev. Kyle Flora officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her daughter, Pat Pruitt, 348 Major Court.

Dorothy Lovelace
HALIFAX, Va. - Dorothy Martin Lovelace, 73, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999 at Woodview Nursing Home in South Boston.
She was born Dec. 28, 1925, in Halifax County.
Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Lovelace of Halifax; two sisters, Florence Wood of Halifax and Arylice Edmondson of South Boston; three brothers, Beverly Martin of Maryland, Curtice Martin of New York and Charles Martin of Halifax; and one granddaughter.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Banister Hill Baptist Church in Halifax with the Rev. William Carr officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A viewing will be held one hour prior to service.

George Mayhew
GRETNA, Va. - George Vernell Davis Mayhew, 70, of 106 Music St., died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 24, 1928, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Eddie Mayhew and Mary Hedrick Mayhew.
He was married
to Annie Louise Giles Mayhew.
He was a retired plumber and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Michael G. Mayhew of Gretna and Vernell Mayhew of Hopewell; four daughters, Joan M. Dawson of Gretna, Joyce F. Crowder of Java, Brenda G. Tanksley of Keeling and Carolyn Ann Cline of Hopewell; three sisters, Vesta Hopkins, Elsie King and Maggie DeBoe, all of Danville; and six grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his foster parents, Riley and Grace Davis; and eight brothers, Willard Mayhew, Allie Davis, Edmond Davis, Willie Davis, Brice Davis, Silas Davis, Oscar Davis and James Davis; and five sisters, Gladys Pack, Frances Keesee, Viola Cook, Mary Perkins and Virginia Mills.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Colbert-Moran Chapel with the Rev. R.G. Rowland and the Rev. Charles Scott officiating. Interment
will be in Gretna Burial Park.

Louise McCullor
DANVILLE, Va. - Louise Price McCullor, 60, of 144A Broad St., died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 21, 1939, in Rockingham, N.C., she was the daughter of Lem Price and Sallie Toney Price.
She was married
to Freddie Lee McCullor.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Robertson, Sallie Long and Diane McCullor, all of Danville; one sister, Barbara Voss of Maryland; two brothers, the Rev. Dr. Albert Toney Sr. of Colonial Heights and Wayne Price of Rockville, Md.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Pelham, N.C., with the Rev. Dr. Albert Toney Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Flossie Pratt
NATHALIE, Va. - Flossie Freeman Pratt, 96, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at Woodview Nursing Home in South Boston.
She was born Jan. 22, 1902, in Halifax County.
Survivors include nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Ellis Creek Baptist Church in Nathalie with the Rev. James Traynham officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Albert Brumfield
DANVILLE, Va. - Albert A. "Beet" Brumfield, 78, of 345 Terry Ave., died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salem.
Born Oct. 4, 1920, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Earnest D. Brumfield and Alice Ruth Yeatts Brumfield.
He was a member of Chestnut Level Baptist Church, American Legion Memorial Post No. 325, Archer T. Gammon Chapter 19, DAV; and Ringgold Golf Club. He lived most of his life in the Danville area and, until his retirement in 1969, he worked as a meter reader for the City of Danville.
He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in the Pacific and later participated in the campaigns of Rome-Arno, Kiska and Anzio. Decorations and citations included the EAME Theater ribbon with a Bronze Star, the American Defense Service medal, the Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster and the combat infantryman's badge. He was wounded in action in Italy in January and May 1944.
He was married
to Hortense B. Brumfield on June 1, 1948.
In addition to his wife, of the residence, he was survived by a daughter, Sheryl B. Moran of Winchester; a son, Ernie D. Brumfield of Zebulon, N.C.; three sisters, Ernestine Taylor of North Augusta, Ga., Margaret Robertson of Danville, and Virginia Adams of Blairs; four brothers, Buddy Brumfield and Landon Brumfield, both of Keeling, Glen Brumfield of Blairs and Bobby Brumfield of Newport News; and four grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Averett Brumfield.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at Barker Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Rusty Mullins Jr. and the Rev. Brady Willis officiating.
Interment with graveside military honors by American Legion Memorial Post No. 325 Honor Guard will be in Highland Burial Park.

Hattie Coffey
DANVILLE, Va. - Hattie Palmer Coffey, 88, of 1131 Ferry Road, died Saturday afternoon, Feb. 13, 1999, in Danville Regional Medical Center. She had been in declining health for two and a half years and in the hospital for 13 days.
Born Feb. 7, 1911, in the Callands community of Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Robert W. Palmer and Hellie Kendrick Palmer.
Her husband, Charlie A. Coffey, died Dec. 14, 1998.
She had made her home in Danville since 1966 and was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by one brother, Mark Palmer of Missouri.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday in Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Haywood Alcorn and the Rev. Roger Austin officiating.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Monday at Swicegood Funeral Home and at other times at 9521 Callands Road in Callands.
Anita Eaton
DRY FORK, Va. - Anita Maria Eaton, 62, of 4900 Whitmell School Road, Box 52, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, in Danville Regional Medical Center. She had been in declining health for several years and in the hospital for a week.
Born March 3, 1936, in Mannheim, Germany, she was the daughter of Fritc Ludwig and Wilhelmina Ludwig.
In 1995, she moved to the Danville area with her family. She had lived in Rahway and Clark, N.J., where she was a member of American Legion Post No. 2348, past member of the Elks Club and the VFW Post No. 3248.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a homemaker.
She was married
to Harold Allen Eaton Sr. on May 26, 1978.
In addition to her husband, of the residence, survivors include two daughters, Claudia Glyder of Magnolia, Texas, and Petra Mutchler of Voorhees, N.J.; three sons, Hans Jurgen-Ludwig of Dry Fork, Allen Eaton of Haley, Pa., and Edward Eaton of Clark, N.J.; a brother, Fridrich Ludwig of Mannheim, Germany; 17 grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday from Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father David McGuire officiating. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. today at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and at other times will be at the residence.
