HAMPTON, Va. - Elaine V. Law, 89, of 168 Fairlawn Drive, Danville, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999.
Born March 22, 1909 in Pittsylvania County, she is the daughter of Henry Emmerson and Josephine W. Emmerson.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Guildfield Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Rozzie l. Lovett of Hampton, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Guildfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Vann officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence. The deceased may be viewed from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Cunningham & Hughes Funeral Home, 351 Holbrook St., Danville.
Barbara Sater
DANVILLE, Va. - Barbara Allen Hall Sater, of 135 Hawthorne Drive, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born in Danville, she was the daughter of William Crispin Hall and Maude Carter Hall.
She was married
to Herbert "Hup" Sater of the home on Dec. 25, 1942.
She lived most of her life in Danville and was a member of the West End Christian Church and the Wednesday Club.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Hall Booker and Frances Hall Frink and a brother, Hubert Langford Hall.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Townes Memorial Chapel with the Rev. June Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Green Hill cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. at Townes Funeral Home.
"Lizzie" Terry
CHATHAM, Va.- H. Elizabeth "Lizzie" Terry, 95, a former resident of Spring Garden and Chatham, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at Maryfield Nursing Home in High Point, N.C.
Born Oct. 4, 1903, in Pittsylvania County, Va., she was the daughter of Robert A. Terry and Annie Allen Terry.
She was a member of Chatham Presbyterian Church, Chatham.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Louise C. Terry; a nephew, Frank A. Terry Jr. and wife Jenny of High Point, N.C.; a niece, Elizabeth T. Fitzgerald and her husband Dan of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.; two great nieces, Anne Terry Curry of Richmond, and Edith Elizabeth Tyler of San Francisco; a great nephew, Mark Lewis Tyler of San Francisco; a great-great-niece, Caroline Elizabeth Curry of Richmond, Va.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Frank Allen Terry Sr., William Benjamin Terry and Harry Terry.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday from Chatham Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Walker Pettyjohn. Burial will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 3-5 p.m. tomorrow at Scott Funeral Home, Chatham, Va.

Tammy Blair
DANVILLE, Va. - Tammy Marie Blair, 35, of 6 Milton Ave., died suddenly Sunday, March 7, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born July 7, 1963, in Danville, she was the daughter of Bruce O. Turner Sr. and Rhonda F. Turner, who survive.
She lived all of her life in Danville and Greensboro, N.C.
On Jan. 10, 1994, she was married
to William Michael Blair, who survives.
In addition to her husband of Danville; her father of Danville; and her mother of Greensboro, survivors include one daughter, Jessica Jones of Greensboro; her stepmother, Margaret T. Turner of Danville; one brother, Bruce O. Turner Jr. of Greensboro; one stepbrother, Tommy Manley Jr. of Danville; and five stepsisters, Doris Motley of Chatham, Margaret Wilson and Ava Wilkins, both of Danville, and Angelia Wilson and Diane James, both of Pelham, N.C.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in Schoolfield cemetery with the Rev. Daniel Blair and the Rev. Kenneth Manning officiating.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and at other times at the residence of her father, 288 Inman Road, Danville.
Virginia Conner
ALTON, Va. - Virginia Walker Conner, 83, of 2145 Harmony Road, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at The Woodview in South Boston.
Born Sept. 27, 1915, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of William Walker and Bessie Thomas Walker.
She was married
to Otis V. Conner, who predeceased her.
She was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher, and a former member of U.M.W. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include three daughters, Lois C. Gravitt of South Boston, Ann C. Dawson of Alton, and Carol C. Popek of South Boston; one brother, Glenn Walker of Alton; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Harmony United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in the Black Walnut Baptist Church cemetery in Cluster Springs.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. today at Brooks Funeral Home, and at other times at the residence.
Rommie Daniel
DANVILLE, Va. - Rommie Lee Daniel, 66, of 936 Ridgecrest Drive, died Sunday, March 7, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center, after a stay in the hospital of three days.
Born March 16, 1932, in Mecklenburg County, he was the son of Alfred A. Daniel and Matilda Daniel Hite.
He was of the Baptist faith. A member of Glen Oak Country Club, he lived most of his life in Danville. He was retired from Dan River Mills Inc. after 36 years, where he worked as a loom fixer in the weave room.
He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army, Special Service in the Korean Conflict.
On Nov. 6, 1965, he was married
to Clara Lee Fuller Daniel, who survives.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two daughters, Patricia C. Pruitt and her husband James C. Pruitt of Lynchburg, and Constance E. Murray and her husband Henry Murray of Virgilina; three brothers, Robert Daniel of South Boston, George Daniel of Buffalo Junction, and Earl J. Daniel of Richmond; three sisters, Leila D. Mulchi of Clarksville, Vannie D. Williams of Buffalo Junction and Betty D. Forlines of South Boston; three granddaughters, Angela Hart and her husband Thomas M., and Jennifer Pruitt, all of Lynchburg and Jan N. Murray of Virgilina; two great-grandsons, James Michael Hart and Joseph Charles Hart, both of Lynchburg.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Rev. R.J. Barber Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.

Leslie Giles
DANVILLE, Va. - Leslie Lewis Giles, 83, of 248 Oakwood Circle, died Friday, March 5, 1999, at his residence.
Born Jan. 11, 1916, in Chatham, he was the son of John Lewis Giles and Mary Elizabeth DeMott Giles.
He was married
to Virginia Snead Giles, who predeceased him Aug. 28, 1995.
He lived most of his life in Danville and was the owner/operator of Giles Salvage for 40 years. He had also worked for Southern Railroad.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Laird-Wooding Sunday school class and a past member of the Board of Deacons.
He was also a member of the Danville Golf Club and the American Legion. He was an avid flower and vegetable gardener, and was very generous in sharing his harvest with neighbors and friends.
In addition, he was a World War II Air Force veteran and flew 30 missions with the Eighth Air Force over Germany.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynn G. Jarrett, a son-in-law Hamilton Jarrett III and two grandsons, Matthew Jarrett and Wilson Jarrett, all of Raleigh, N.C.; three brothers, Glenn Giles of Danville, Ronald Giles of Altavista and Donald Giles of Lynchburg; three sisters, Virginia Moran of Alexandria, Mary Jessie of Chatham and Nancy Robertson of Roanoke.
He was predeceased by a brother, Larry Giles.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. today at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jack Heinsohn Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Vivian Guill
BLAIRS, Va. - Vivian Lee Hodnett Guill, 88, of 1389 Lawless Creek Rd., died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at her residence.
Born Jan. 28, 1911, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of William Daniel Hodnett and Carrie Hodnett.
She was married
to James David Guill Sr., who survives.
She lived her entire life in the Blairs community and was a member of the Blairs Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include three sons, James David Guill Jr. of Rural Hall, N.C., Willey Thomas "Buck" Guill of Danville, and Roy Glen Guill of Blairs; a daughter, Venice Ann Rocchi of Blairs; a brother, Edward Hodnett of Danville; a sister, Lottie Guill of Blairs; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home North Main Chapel, with the Rev. Melvin Winters officiating. Burial will be in the Guill Family cemetery, Blairs.

Artie Hodnett
DANVILLE, Va. - Artie Samuel Hodnett, 92, of 2526 North Main St., died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home, after several years of declining health.
Born August 23, 1906, in Halifax County, he was the son of John Henry Hodnett and Jerusha Emma Clark Hodnett.
He lived in the Laurel Grove community, where he was a retired tobacco farmer, prior to becoming a resident of Roman Eagle Memorial Home.
He was a graduate of Dan River High School, and a member of Laurel Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Virginia White of Richmond and Trixie Guill of Danville.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. today at Laurel Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Griggs officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 1 p.m. today at the church.
