Ruby Pryor
DANVILLE, Va. - Ruby Gauldin Pryor, 72, of Stratford Health Care Center, died Monday, March 22, 1999, in Danville Regional Medical Center. She had been in declining health for two years.
Born June 29, 1926, in Danville, she was a daughter of Jim Gauldin and Minnie McMillan Gauldin.
She lived her entire life in Danville. She was retired from Danville Regional Medical Center, where she worked as a nurse's aid in the emergency room.
She was married
to William Edward Pryor.
Survivors include two sons, Johnny Monroe Hogan of Axton and Wayne Randolph Hogan of Eden, N.C.; a sister, Evie Lou Gauldin of Chatham; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Irvin Thomas Hogan.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. today at the Gauldin family cemetery in Axton with Curtis Bryant officiating.

Mamie Robinson
CHATHAM, Va. - Mamie Marie Robinson, 85, of 1152 N. Main St., died Wednesday morning, March 24, 1999, at Piney Forest Health Care Center.
Born March 15, 1914, in Chatham, Va., she was the daughter of James M. Wimbush and Mary Miner Wimbush.
She was married
to William Robinson, who predeceased her.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Masonic and Eastern Star Nursing Home in Washington, D.C. She was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include one son, Willie Brown Robinson of Washington, D.C.; four sisters Mary Steele of New York City, Alberta Price Davis, Corine Moore and Alice R. Chaney, all of Chatham; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Miller Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Walton officiating.
Burial will be in Hill Crest Burial Park.
Geneva Thaxton
VERNON HILL, Va. - Geneva Chaney Thaxton, 84, died Monday, March 22, 1999, at Halifax Regional Hospital in South Boston.
Born May 23, 1914, in Halifax County, Va.
Survivors include one son Billy Thaxton.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant CME Church in Vernon Hill with the Rev. Ronald Dean and Elizabeth Dixon officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery.
The remains will lie in state one hour prior to service.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 2139 Wilson Memorial Trail, Vernon Hill.

William Allen
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. - William Jennings Allen, 77, of 1607 North Main St., died Friday, March 26, 1999, at his residence.
Born June 9, 1921, in South Boston, he was the son of W.T. Allen and Lena Jennings Allen.
He was married
to Iris Lee Glass Allen, who survives.
He was a member of First Baptist Church and the American Legion Post No. 8. He was retired from Allen & Weatherford Grocery.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter Susan Allen of South Boston; one son William Thomas Allen II of Atlanta; and two grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Oak Ridge cemetery with the Rev. Robert M. Fox Jr., officiating.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at Brooks Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
Mary Barker
DANVILLE, Va. - Mary Hutchens C. Barker, 76, of 49 Hylton Ave., died Thursday, March 25, 1999, at her residence.
Mrs. Barker was born on Oct. 18, 1922, in Danville, Va., the daughter of Joseph David Hutchens and Tina Searcy Hutchens.
She was retired from Dan River Mills after 42 years working in the 1A Weave Room. She was a member of Riverview Baptist Church.
Mrs. Barker is survived by two sons, William David Clark and James G. Clark, both of Keeling; and two grandchildren Cheryl Clark of Danville and Joseph M. Clark of Keeling.
She was predeceased by one sister Lillian Hutchens Huffman.
A graveside service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Schoolfield cemetery. The Rev. Jeffrey E. Hopkins will be conducting the service.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her son, William David Clark, 1601 Bennett Circle, Keeling.

Eva Bostic
DANVILLE, Va. - Eva Wright Bostic, 94, of 671 Park Ave., died Friday morning March 26, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center after six years and one week of declining health.
Born Sept. 10, 1904, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of Hairston Wright and Maude Sigmon Wright.
She was married
Dec. 20, 1926, to Ernest Clyde Bostic Sr., who predeceased her July 27, 1992.
She spent most of her life in Danville where she worked for Dan River Inc. for 30 years before retiring at the age of 65, and was a member of Brush Arbor Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sons Ernest Clyde Bostic Jr. and Gerald Duaine Bostic.
Survivors include one son Dale Bostic of Lynchburg; and three sisters Clydie Ives of Danville, Charlotte Patterson of Springfield and Jessie Powers of Chicago; and one brother Henry Wright of Appomattox; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Johnny Jones officiating.

Edward Tulloh
ALTON, Va. - Edward Wayne Tulloh, 62, of 2103 Mount Carmel, died Friday, March 26, 1999, at Lynchburg General Hosptial, Lynchburg, Va.
Born June 10, 1936, in Halifax County, he was the son of Marvin Edward Tulloh and Gladys Taylor Tulloh.
He was a member of Olive Branch United Methodist Church and the American Angus Association. He was a tobacco farmer and cattleman.
Survivors include three daughters Deborah Carol Allen and Ginger Renee Tulloh, both of South Boston and Helen Gayle Thomason of Alton; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
Earl Wood
DANVILLE, Va. - Earl Wood, 49, of 1201 Claiborne St., died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.
Born June 8, 1949, in Danville, he was the son of Early Wood and Mary Virginia Farmer Wood.
Survivors include five sons, Walter James Wood, Tracy Wood and Lamont Wood, all of New York, Earl A. Poteat and Carlos L. Clark, both of Danville; five sisters Dorothy A. Wood and Laverne Wimbush, both of Danville, Linda Wood and Georgia Swanson, both of New York and Cynthia Carter of Philadelphia; and one brother, Larry Wood of Danville.
A funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Chapel of Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.

Dennis Collins
CALLANDS, Va. - Dennis Wayne Collins Sr., 54, of 3317 Mapleton Drive, died Friday, March 26, 1999, at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.
Born Nov. 13, 1944 in Danville, he was the son of the late James Holley Collins and Vera Elaine Oakes Collins, who survives.
He attended Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, and he owned and operated C&S Garage with his son.
He was married
on Dec. 1, 1962, to Warner Emerson Collins, who survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife of the residence and his mother of Dry Fork include three sons, Dennis W. Collins Jr., Ricky L. Collins and Barry K. Collins, all of Callands, and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 29, at Barker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roger Ewing officiating. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
