CALLANDS, Va. - Iris Reynolds Travis, 46, of 384 Barn Road, died Monday, April 5, 1999, in Galax.
Born Aug. 11, 1952, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Linwood B. Reynolds and Alice Barbour Reynolds.
She was married
to Dennis John Travis Sr., who predeceased her.
She was a member of County Line Christian Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Samantha Dannielle Travis of Roanoke and D. John Travis Jr., of Collinsville.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at County Line Christian Church cemetery. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at Scott Funeral Home.
Malinda Walden
AXTON, Va. - Malinda Emerson Walden, 65, of 2901 Mosco Road, died Monday, April 5, 1999, at her residence.
Born Feb. 15, 1934, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of James Levi Walden and Eliza Brown.
She was married
to James Levi Walden, who predeceased her Nov. 29, 1998.
She was a member of the Axton Baptist Church where she taught the Senior Adult Sunday school class. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Tot Spot Child Care Center.
Survivors include five daughters, Mary W. Dodd of Axton, Carolyn W. Craddock of Dumfries, Wendy W. Byrd of Sumter, S.C. and Linda W. Vannata of Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., and Diane W. Brace of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sons, James Walden Jr. and Ricky Walden, both of Danville, and Roger Walden of Chatham; three sisters, Eliza Schwitzerlette of Beaver, W.Va., Lottie Shorter of Chatham and Nancy Schwitzerlette of Rosedale; and 14 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one sister, Annie Baugh; and two brothers, James Emerson and John Emerson.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Burial Park, Chatham, with the Rev. Chuch Haley officiating.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at Scott Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of her daughter Mary Dodd, 2945 Mosco Road, Axton.
Gracie Woodall
DANVILLE, Va. - Gracie Baynes Woodall, 82, of 3589 Old Richmond Road, died Monday, April 5, 1999, at his residence after four years of declining health.
Born Nov. 4, 1916, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of Thomas Lee Baynes and Ollie Franklin Chaney Baynes.
She was married
to Clarence Irvin Woodall Sr., who predeceased her March 4, 1980.
She resided in the Danville area for the past 19 years but lived most of her life in the Keeling community. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include four daughters, Elizabeth W. Taylor of Providence, N.C., Joyce W. Alderson of Winston Salem, N.C., Elsie W. Hudgins of Danville and Betty W. Alderson of Keeling; five sons, Bobby Woodall of Ringgold, Thomas Woodall of Powertuck, Conn., Clarence I. Woodall Jr. and Danny Woodall, both of Danville, and John Woodall of Keeling; two sisters, Ruby B. Savage of Atlanta and Virginia B. Chaney of Lynchburg; one brother, Thomas "Doc" Baynes of Richmond; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Rev. Daryl Joyce officiating. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Joan Cobb
ARLINGTON, Va. - Joan Tyler Cobb, 47, died unexpectedly April 4, 1999.
Mrs. Cobb was born April 3, 1952, in Traverse City, Mich. She was the daughter of the late Earl C. Tyler and is survived by her mother Evelyn Wright Tyler of Traverse City, Mich.
She is also survived by her husband Rev. Richard E. Cobb of the residence. Three sons, Richard B. Cobb, Arlington, Christian M. Cobb of Callands, and the Martin T. Cobb of Bowerston, Ohio. Two daughters, Tracy C. Miller of Sterling and Amy E. Short of Norfolk. One brother, Douglas Tyler, of Kalamazoo, Mich., and one sister, Elaine T. Renollet of Wilmington, N.C.; and one grandchild.
She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Arlington.
A memorial service will be held at the Asbury United Methodist Church, Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at 11 a.m. in Traverse City, Mich. The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central United Methodist Church, 4201 N. Fairfax Street, Arlington, Va. 22201. Local arrangements are by Traverse City Chapel Covell Funeral Homes. Scott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
George Moore
DANVILLE, Va. - George Moore, of 154 Fairlawn Drive, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at his residence.
Born March 27, 1934, in Virginia, he was the son of Willie Moore and Nettie Gravely Moore.
He was married
to Cora Mosely Moore, who predeceased him.
He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in 1997.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home with Bishop Major Hairston officiating. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his niece, Nettie Moore, 1101 Adams St.
Annie Staton
DANVILLE, Va. - Annie Howard Staton, 97, of 2344 Riverside Drive, died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at Riverside Health Care Center.
Born July 13, 1901, in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of William James Howard and Mary Elizabeth Riley Howard.
She was a member of Chatham Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Wallace Howard Staton of Charlotte, N.C., and Victor Bruce Staton of West Palm Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Hillcrest Burial Park by the Rev. Michael Bacon.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Scott Funeral Home.
Johnny Stowe
ROCKVILLE, Md. - Johnny J. Stowe, 71, died April 4, 1999 at his residence.
Born Sept. 13, 1927 in Dry Fork, he was a son of John Blaine Stowe and Hettie Powell Stowe.
He worked as a self-employed painter until his retirement.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II.
He was married
to Alma Schofield Stowe, who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by a son, Michael Stowe.
Survivors include a daughter, Vicky S. Collins of Maryland; one sister, Bernice S. Allen of Danville, Va.; six brothers, Earle Stowe, Wade Stowe and Julian Stowe, all of Dry Fork, Shirley Stowe of Durham, N.C., Delton Stowe and Clyde Stowe, both of Danville; and one grandchild.

Harvey Wimbush
DANVILLE, Va. - Harvey Lee Wimbush, 47, of 235 Henry St., died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 4, 1952, in Danville, he was the son of Robert Wimbush and Carrie B. Wimbush.
He was married
to Patsy Ann Wimbush, who survives.
He was employed by Dimon, Inc. for a number of years.
In addition to his wife of Danville, survivors include two daughters, Nicole Jones of New Jersey and Natalie Martin of Danville; one son, Eric Graves of New Jersey; three sisters, JoAnn Bowan, Juanita Glenn and Jamie Glass, all of Danville; three brothers, Milton L. Wimbush, Marshall L. Wimbush and Joseph Reynolds, all of Danville.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
Hazel Green
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. - Hazel Stamps Green, 83, of 304 Charles St., died Monday, April 5, 1999, at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, Va.
Born Jan. 5, 1916, in Danville, she was the daughter of Lorenza Stamps and Alberta I. Stamps.
She was married
to Vernon Green, who predeceased her.
She was a nurse with Bissell Hospital in Delaware and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include one brother, Phillip T. Stamps of Danville.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Oak Hill cemetery with Father David McGuire officiating.
A viewing will be held 4-8 p.m. today at Cunningham and Hughes Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her brother, Phillip Stamps, 1419 Kemper Road Ext.
Marvin Averette
DANVILLE, Va. - Marvin Milton "Ruby" Averette, 52, of 321 Bryant Ave., died Monday, April 5, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 2, 1946, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Willie L. Harris Sr. and Bernice A. Harris, who survives.
He was self-employed for many years.
In addition to his mother, survivors include two daughters, Tarnisha Averette and Tamika Payne, both of Danville; one son, Joey Adams; five brothers, Percy Averette, Charles Harris, Clifton Harris and Willie Harris, all of Danville, and Roy Harris of Florida; three sisters, Loretta Wilkins, Sandra MacDonald and Tammy E. Harris, all of Danville.
