DRY FORK, Va. - Ruby Reynolds Hutson, 71, of 1157 Hutson Road died Saturday, April 10, 1999 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born on September 14, 1927 in Danville, she was the daughter of Lynwood O. Reynolds and Ella Jackson Reynolds.
She was married
to Otha Joseph "Joe" Hutson, who predeceased her in 1980.
She spent most of her life in the Dry Fork community where she was a homemaker and a member of Grace Christian Assembly.
Survivors include one son, Phillip Wayne Hutson of Dry Fork; two daughters, Sylvia Cusumano of Danville and Linda Green of Dry Fork; three brothers, Carson Douglas "Doug" Reynolds of Danville, Jerome "Jerry" Reynolds of Chesterfield County and Thurman Reynolds of Eden, N.C.; three sisters, Lemma Davis and Hazel Gregory, both of Danville, and Rebecca "Becky" Adkerson of Dry Fork; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was predeceased by three children, Lynn Hutson, Mark Hutson and Judy Hutson; three brothers, Beverley Reynolds, Lynwood Reynolds Jr. and Beechum Reynolds and three sisters, Bessie McNeely Crane, Mary Gery Flannigan and Frances Hutson.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel with Matteo Pacifico officiating. Interment
will follow at the Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.
John Jordan
DANVILLE, Va. - John Lee Jordan, 32, of 533 Ingram St., died Thursday, April 8, 1999, at his residence.
Born March 3, 1967, in Danville, he was the son of the late Noah Lee Jordan and Annie Deering Jordan, who survives.
He lived most of his life in Danville, and was a carpenter for John W. Daniel Co. He attended Blessed Hope Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother of the residence, survivors include one daughter, Samantha Jo Jordan of Callands; one half-brother, Billy Johns of Danville; and two half-sisters, Barbara Walker of Ringgold and Patsy Donahue of Danville.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Danville Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Brian Edwards officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

John King Jr.
DANVILLE, Va. - John Charlie King Jr., 54, of 21 Dula St., died Friday, April 9, 1999 at Duke University Hospital, Durham, N.C.
Born Aug. 16, 1944, he was the son of John Charlie King Sr. and Katherine Ingram King.
He was married
to Joan McGuire King, who survives.
He was employed as a production welder at Ladd Furniture, a member of the Abundant Life Church, member of the Invaders Motorcyle Club, and also a member of the American Legion Post 8 in South Boston.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two daughters, Christal L. Woiclkowfski of Halifax and Dee Dee King of South Boston; two stepdaughters, Ellen Hudson and Kimberly Carroll, both of Danville; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. today in the First Cross Roads Baptist Church cemetery, Turbeville, with the Rev. Steve Ervin officiating.
Brooks Funeral Home, South Boston, is in charge of arrangements.
Marion Mangrum
DANVILLE, Va. - Marion Kent Mangrum, 78, died Friday, April 9, 1999 in Danville Regional Medical Center after several years of declining health. She had been a resident of Roman Eagle Memorial Home for two months.
Born in Danville on Dec. 7, 1920, she was the daughter of William Edward Kent and Alice Ann Perkins Kent.
She was first married
to Perry Wilson, who predeceased her in 1941; and in 1964 was married
to Tom Mangrum, who predeceased her in 1972.
She lived most of her life in Pittsylvania County and had worked with the former Baroody Candy company prior to operating the Crossroads Diner. She was employed by the Pittsylvania County Health Dept. as a dental clerk at the time of her retirement. She was a member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church where she was past church secretary and a former secretary of her Sunday School class.
She is survived by one son, Perry W. Wilson Jr. of Reidsville, N.C.; one daughter, Beth Wilson Davis of Danville; one sister, Dorothy K. Hammock of Richmond; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by two brothers, Elwood Kent and William Edward Kent.
Furneral services will be held in the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Lee Ellison and the Rev. Daryl Joyce officiating. Interment
will take place in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and at other times at the residence of her daughter, Beth Wilson Davis, of 145 Lynch St.
Mary Perkins
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. - Mary Pulliam Perkins, 90, died Saturday, April 10, 1999 at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born Sept. 8, 1908, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of Ben Franklin Pulliam and Molly Smith Pulliam.
She was married
to Frank P. Perkins Sr., who predeceased her.
A retired sales clerk with Leggett department store, she was a member of Aarons Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda P. Farley of South Boston; one son, Frank P. Perkins Jr. of Virgilina; one sister, Fannie P. Davis of Roanoke; two brothers, John R. Pulliam of Virgilina and Leroy Pulliam of Johnston, S.C.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Aarons Creek Baptist Church, Virgilina, 11 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Richard Cooke officiating. Interment
will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, and also at the residence of her daughter, 3098 Old Grubby Rd., South Boston.
George W. Saunders
CHATHAM, Va. - George Washington Saunders, 78, of 604 Galveston Rd., Chatham died Saturday, April 10, 1999 in Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Born April 6, 1921 in Halifax County, he was a son of the late Johnnie Saunders and Homie Guthrie Saunders Cage. He was married
to the late Doris Moore Saunders. Mr. Saunders was a member of Round Pond Baptist Church, a farmer and retired from Klopman.
He is survived by a son, Ronnie M. Saunders, of Altavista; three daughters, Helen Marie Saunders of Gretna, Patsy Clements of Hurt and Debra Craft of Gretna; one sister, Janie Marshburn of New Bern, N.C.; one grandchild, Tammy Bush; and one great-grandchild, Daniel Bush.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 12, 1999 at Hill Crest Burial Park by Rev. A.A. Blanks.
The family will receive friends this evening 7-8:30 p.m. at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of his daughter Patsy Clements, 2044 Shula Drive, Hurt.

DANVILLE, Va. - Nellie Irene Singer Vaughan, 81, formerly of North Avenue, died Saturday, April 10, 1999 in Roman Eagle Memorial Home.
Born Jan. 9, 1918 in Danville, she was the daughter of Harry B. Singer and Gertrude Bower Singer.
She was married
on July 19, 1935 to William Howard Vaughan who predeceased her in 1979.
She had lived most of her life in Danville. She retired from the former Belk Leggett department store where she had worked for a number of years in sales. She was also a member of the Moffett Memorial Baptist Church, the Kaufman-Brydon Chapter #87 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Belk Leggett retired employees group.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Joyce V. Stephens of Woodstock, Ga. and Nina Jean V. Taylor of Yanceyville, N.C.; one brother, Melvin A. Baker of Lilburn, Ga.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Lee Ellison officiating.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with Kaufman-Brydon Chapter #87 Order of the Eastern Star conducting rites at 7:30 p.m. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence of her daughter, Nina Jean V. Taylor at 1253 Main Street in Yanceyville, N.C.
Lucille Bowles
Danville, Va. - Lucille Walker Bowles, 89, of 119 Brightwell Drive, died Sunday, April 11, 1999, at her residence after a decline in health for one year.
Born Feb. 2, 1910, in Danville, she was the daughter of Charles Calvin Walker and Mary Maude Link Walker.
She lived her entire life in Danville. She was retired from Dan River Mills where she worked in the No. 8 store. She was a member of Keen Street Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ruth Sunday school class, the Young at Heart Club and a former member of the choir.
She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Kaufman-Brydon Chapter 87 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Thalia Garden Club.
She was married
to Claude Issac Bowles, who predeceased her Sept. 10, 1971.
Survivors include two sons, Ray W. Bowles of Lake Ridge and Thomas Bowles of Richmond; one sister, Shirley W. White of Danville; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one brother, Fielding C. Walker.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Keen Street Baptist Church with the Rev. George Rumney and the Rev. Dr. S. Felton Carter officiating. Burial will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and at other times at the residence.
