Mary McNeill
DANVILLE, Va. - Mary Lou Virginia Sasser McNeill, of 28 Paul St., died Monday, April 19, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 17, 1923, in Danville, she was the daughter of John Henry Sasser and Mary Clark Sasser.
She was married
to John Steadman McNeill Jr., who predeceased her June 23, 1983.
She was employed at Wendy's Restaurant, and had previously been a longtime waitress at the former Charcoal House and was later employed at Hardees on West Main St. She was a member of Arlington Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Kelly Turner of Danville and Melvin S. McNeill of Greensboro, N.C.; two daughters, Geraldine S. Harris and Vicky Lee Taylor, both of Danville; two brothers, Carl Sasser of Georgia and J. Henry Sasser Jr. of Danville; one sister, Marie Shelton of Pelham, N.C.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 2 pm. Sunday at Townes Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Samuel Greeson officiating. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Hazel Royster
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. - Hazel Hundley Royster, 77, of 621 Berry Hill Road, died Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born June 10, 1921, in Danville, she was the daughter of Charles R. Hundley and Vela Talbott Hundley.
She was married
to William S. Royster Sr., who survives.
She was a homemaker.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, William S. "Billy" Royster Jr. of Kansas City, Kan. and Dr. Edward "Eddie" Royster of Fredericksburg; and five grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Grover Stevens officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery, South Boston.
The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Helen Shelton
CHATHAM, Va. - Helen Shelton, 82, of 197 Payneton Road, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at her residence.
Born July 16, 1916, in Pittsylania County, she was the daughter of Richard Clark Shelton and Pearl Shelton Shelton.
She was a member of Payneton United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one nephew, John W. Shelton of Gretna; one niece, Hildred Shelton of Danville; and one special friend, Liz Bradner of the residence.
She was predeceased by one sister, Bessie Shelton; and four brothers, Louis Shelton, Willie Shelton, John C. Shelton and Gilmer Shelton.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Payneton United Methodist Church with the Rev. James D. Siddons officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

George Weatherford
BOWLING GREEN, Va. - George Ira Weatherford, 80, died Monday, April 19, 1999, at his residence.
Born Sept. 15, 1918, in Danville, he was the son of Doctor Duffy Weatherford and Annie Lillian Neathery Weatherford.
He was married
to Mildred Wilt Weatherford, who survives.
He was employed as a bus operator for A.B.& W. Transit Company and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Company for 40 years.
He served in the United States Army, Aug. 1944-March, 1946. He was in Co. K, 335th Infantry, 84th Division (Railsplitters), in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was awarded a Bronze Star and was a member of American Legion Post No. 320 in Spotsylvania.
In addition to his wife of Bowling Green, survivors include two daughters, Brenda W. Hagan of Spotsylvania and Paula W. Kilby of Woodbridge; one son, Lawrence Preston Weatherford of Charleston, S.C.; three brothers, Doctor D. Weatherford Jr. of Danville, William Weatherford of Ringgold and Garnett B. Weatherford of Alexandria; five sisters, Thelma Snead, Mary Walker and Helen Barksdale, all of Danville, and Lillian Snead and Betty Jean Atkinson, both of Ringgold; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 12:30 Thursday at Mount Comfort cemetery in Alexandria.
Connie Anderson
DRY FORK, Va. - Connie Mays Anderson, 74, of 625 Beverley Road, died Friday, May 21, 1999, in Danville after a decline in health for two months.
Born Jan. 15, 1925, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Henry T. Mays and Lena Templeton Mays.
She was the wife of Clarence Edward Anderson, who predeceased her.
She lived most of her life in Danville and was of the Baptist faith. She was the retired owner and operator of C.E.'s Restaurant.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra A. March of Danville; three sons, Roger Anderson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Wayne Anderson and Charles Anderson, both Danville; two brothers, Randolph Mays of Danville and Allen Mays of Pennsylvania; one sister, Eileen Mays of Tampa, Fla.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Brian Edwards and the Rev. Daryl Joyce officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence of daughter Sandra A. March, 4041 Mount Cross Road.

Ronald Clark
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. - Ronald E. "Ronnie" Clark, 38, of 1023 Austin Acres Lane, Clover, Va., died Friday, May 21, 1999, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born Jan. 8, 1961 in Richmond, Va., Clark was the son of Earl H. Clark Jr. and Salene Newman Clark. He was married
to Linda Clayton Clark.
Clark was a police officer for the towns of South Boston and Halifax. He was formerly the chief of police in the towns of La Crosse and Clover. He was also an officer with the Halifax County Sheriff's Office and the La Crosse Volunteer Fire Department.
He was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church and Clover Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to his wife and parents, Clark is survived by one son, Travis Earl Clark of Bracey; one daughter, Tiffany Renee Clark of Bracey; one brother, Randall Louis Clark of Baskerville; and three sisters, Sandra Clark Pearce of South Hill, Kimberly Clark Elgin of Chesterfield, and Tara Clark of Bracey.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel on Main Street in South Boston. The Rev. John Fariss and the Rev. Bill Wilkins will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge cemetery in South Boston.
Visitation will be at Brooks Funeral Home today from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of M. "Chic" Clayton 8184 J.D. Hagood Highway, Scottsburg.
Barbara Hines
RINGGOLD, Va. - Barbara Jean Hines, 63, of 208 Neal Davis Road, died Saturday, May 22, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center after a decline in health for six years.
Born Feb. 29, 1936, in Danville, she was the daughter of the late John Franklin Eanes and Fannie Hancock Eanes.
She was married
in September of 1962 to B.J. Hines, who survives.
She lived most of her life in Danville and had been a Ringgold resident for 10 years. She was a homemaker and of the Holiness faith.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include one daughter, Terie L. Dove of the residence; two sons, Ronald K. Wilmoth of Houston, Texas, and Robert F. Wilmoth of Danville; one brother, John F. Eanes Jr. of Danville; one sister, Frances E. Walker of Columbia, S.C.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Tony Wilmoth.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Henry Taylor officiating.
The family will receive friends 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and at other times at the residence and the residence of mother-in-law, Edith Hines, 224 Haymore St., Danville.
Sandra Rollins
RIDGEWAY, Va. - Sandra Duffy Rollins, 45, of 98 Pecan Ave., Ridgeway, died Sunday, May 23, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 2, 1953 in Henry County, she was the daughter of Claude D. Duffy of Martinsville and Clarice Bullins Duffy.
Rollins graduated from Martinsville High School and was a member of Fuller Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to her father, Rollins is survived by her husband, Bobby H. Rollins of the residence; and one sister, Brenda Gail Aycock of Martinsville.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at McKee-Stone Funeral Services Chapel in Martinsville with the Rev. Terry Knighten officiating. Interment
will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at McKee-Stone Funeral Services, 109 Broad Street, Martinsville.
Elsie Saunders
RICHMOND, Va. - Elsie Janie Saunders, 84, died on Friday, May 21, 1999, in Richmond.
She was born in Halifax County.
Survivors include her daughter, Paula Crowe of Quinton; one sister, Sara Wade of Clover, Va.; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Clover cemetery in Clover.
The family will receive friends 5:30-8 p.m. today at Nelson Funeral Home in Richmond.
