Christopher Treff
NATHALIE, Va. - Christopher Treff, 34, of 1029 Nathalie Road, died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, at his residence.
Born Feb. 18, 1965, in Halifax County, he was the son of Dennis Rene Treff and Mary Kathryn Quick Clay, who both survive.
He was married
to Rosemarie M. Treff, who survives.
He was a member of the South Boston Church of God.
In addition to his father of Tiger, Ga, and mother of Nathalie, Va., survivors include two daughters Candace Marie Treff and Crystal Lee Treff, both of Lawrenceville, Ga.; one brother James Edward Treff of McCall, S.C.; one sister Marie Treff Angel of Gladys; and one grandmother Hazel Woodard Giberson of Greensboro, N.C.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at South Boston Church of God with the Rev. Bill Leonard and the Rev. Harper Davis officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of Joseph and Phillis Adkins, 1426 Homestead Road, Gretna.
Ernest Granger
HALIFAX, Va. - Ernest Younger Granger of 412 Lakeside Dr., died Saturday, May 8, 1999 at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born in Halifax County, he was the son of John Cabell Granger and Lena Clark Granger.
He was married
to Kathleen "Teena" Wilkins Granger, who survives.
He was a member of the Beth Car Baptist Church and the Halifax Masonic Lodge #96. He was also a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Susan Medlin of Roxboro, N.C.; and two brothers, Billy M. Granger of Scottsburg and Cecil G. Granger of Halifax.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Halifax cemetery with The Rev. Charles Stewart officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Dorothy Hayden
DRK FORK, Va. - Dorothy Holley Hayden, 75, died Saturday, May 8, 1999 in Roman Eagle Memorial Home after five years of declining health.
Born November 3, 1923, in the Dry Fork community of Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Beverly M. Holley Sr. and the late Madie Powell Holley.
She was married
to Robert I. Hayden, who predeceased her on Nov. 7, 1996.
She lived all her life in the Dry Fork community of Pittsylvania County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Whitmell United Methodist Church, but also attended the Emmaunuel Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include one grandaughter, Lisa W. Stephenson of Florence, S.C.; one sister, Eva H. Stowe, of Dry Fork; four brothers, George R. Holley of Danville, Beverly M. Holley Jr. of Chatham and Randy E. Holley and Everette L. Holley Sr., both of Dry Fork.
She was also predeceased by a daughter, Joan Hayden Williams, and three brothers, Willard F. Holley, H. Morris Holley and James R. Holley.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Cecil Coates and the Rev. Charles Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 p.m. today at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel.
Odaris Lavizzo
Cincinnati, Ohio - Odaris Wilson Lavizzo, 69, died April 30, 1999.
Born Jan. 25, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Matt Wilson and Hannah Hairston Wilson.
Survivors include two sons, Theodore Lavizzo and Calvin Lavizzo both of Cincinnati; one daughter, Marie Lavizzo of Cincinnati; one sister, Evelyn Wilson Petty of Danville, Va. and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Oak Hill cemetery, Danville, Va., with the Rev. Hayes McConnell and the Rev. W.J. Toomer officiating.
The family will receive friends at 127 Moorefield Lane, Danville.

Katherine Moore
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Katherine T. Moore, 90, died Friday, May 7, 1999 in Siblen Memorial Hospital.
Born June 16, 1908 in Lunenberg County, Virginia she lived in Richmond, Va. and in Danville, Va. for 55 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Wilson of Washington, D.C.; one son, Walton Moore of Miami, Fla.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be May 13 in Washington, D.C. and graveside services will be 3 p.m. Friday, May 14 at Williams' Church in Lunenburg County.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church, Living Stones Campaign, Washington, D.C. or Wiliams' cemetery Association, Kenbridge, Virginia.

DANVILLE, Va. - Charles Wayne Moser, 53, of 373 Cedarbrook Dr., died Friday, May 7, 1999 at the Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born March 24, 1946 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Eugene Moser and Thelma Scott Moser.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Wilson Moser, of the residence; two sons, Tony D. Moser and his wife Donna G. Moser of Danville, William A. Moser of Charlotte, N.C. and one grandson Jeremy Scott Moser; four brothers, the Rev. Harry Moser of Gretna, Noel Moser, Arthur Moser, Danny Moser, all of Danville; three sisters, Lois M. Emerson of Chatham, Onnie M. Farmer of Hurt and Faye M. Betterton of Gretna.
He was also predeceased by two brothers, Eugene Moser Jr. and Cecil Moser.
He was a member of Morotock Lodge #210 A.F. and A.M.; a member of the Kaufman-Brydon Chapter #87 Order of Eastern Star; a member of the Danville Shrine Club and Acca Temple Shrine; American Legion Post #1097 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #647. He was employed at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of God of Prophecy of Java by the Rev. Albert Moser and the Rev. Edward Pope. Interment
with Masonic and military graveside rites will be in the church cemetery.

Sadie Isenhour
DANVILLE, Va. - Sadie Marley Isenhour, 97, formerly of 138 Schoolfield Drive, died Monday, May 10, 1999, at the Southside Community Hospital, Farmville.
Born Dec. 8, 1901, in Cedar Falls, N.C., she was the daughter of Ira Marley and Nattie Harrison Marley.
She was married
to Clarence R. Isenhour, who predeceased her Jan. 29, 1966.
She moved to Danville in 1936, from Thomasville, N.C. She worked for 33 years at Dan River, Inc. retiring in 1967. She was a member of Forest Lawn Baptist Church. She had resided in Farmville since this past January, living at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home.
Survivors include one daughter, Norma June Walton of Pelham, N.C.; one sister, Louise Scearce of Danville; five great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one sister, Blanch Curry and one grandchild.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Swicegood Funeral Home with the Rev. Stephen Sorrell and the Rev. Jerry Joseph officiating. Burial will be in Schoolfield cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Woodrow Walker
BLAIRS, Va. - Woodrow Wilson Walker, 82, of 2877 Twin Arch Road, died Saturday, May 8, 1999 at his residence after declining in health over the past year.
Born Sept. 8, 1916 in Brown Summitt, N.C., he was the son of Thomas Webb Walker and Ethel Durham Walker.
He was married
to Alice Hopkins Walker, who survives.
He spent most of his life in the Blairs Community. After retiring from Dan River, Inc., he owned and operated the Twin Arch Peach Farm. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Dennis K. Walker of Richmond, Aubrey D. Walker of Wilmington, N.C.; four daughters, Sylvia Turner of Wilmington, N.C., Brenda Maxie of Trinity, N.C., Nancy Farley of Blairs, Vicki Hardin of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Cousins and Thelma Hundley, both of Danville; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Danville Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Hershel Stone and the Rev. Luther Lemon officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Monday at Swicegood Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
Robert "Bobby" Hamlett
GRETNA, Va. - Robert Johnson "Bobby" Hamlett, 67, of 11565 Chalk Level Road, died Sunday, May 9, 1999, at his residence.
Born Feb. 2, 1932, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Elwood Luther Hamlett and Maude Johnson Hamlett.
He was predeceased by one sister, Virginia H. Stevens and three brothers, Jack Ramsey Hamlett, Claude Swanson Hamlett and Harry Luther Hamlett.
He was a farmer and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife of the residence, Dorothy Foster Hamlett; two sons, Stewart Hamlett and Mark Spencer Hamlett, both of Gretna; one brother, Russell Hamlett of Gretna; four sisters, Lora H. Allen of Gretna, Doris H. Davidson of Chatham, Betty H. Cook of Altavista and Lois H. Reynolds of Hurt; and one grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greenfield Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Larry Owen officiating.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. today at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of his son Mark Hamlett, 11921 Chalk Level Road, Gretna.
Ronald Edward Saunders
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - Ronald Saunders, 67, of 256 Gray St., died Tuesday, May 4, 1999 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital after a brief illness.
Born Dec. 12, 1931 in Racine, Wis., he was the son of the late Bertrand "Bert" Saunders and Elizabeth Schweitzer Saunders.
He married
the former Virginia Morris Saunders, who predeceased him in November 1996.
He spent most of his life in Danville where he was employed by Lowe's of Danville.
He was an avid sports fan of George Washington High School and served as an official for baseball and basketball games. He was a graduate of Ruffin High School and attended Appalachian State University. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Stephanie Landrieu of Monmouth Junction, N.J.; one step-father, Aubrey Arthur of Greensboro, N.C.; one brother, Bill Saunders of Pinhurst, N.C.; one-step brother, David Arthur; one step-sister, Kathy Townsend; and two grandchildren.
A mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Michael Duffy officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain View cemetery. A Christian wake service will be held 7 p.m. today at Swicegood Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the funeral home.
