Eva Johnston
PLAINFIELD, N.J. - Eva Mildred Taylor Johnston, 69, died Friday, May 29, 1999, at Ridgewood New Jersey Nursing Home.
Born March 13, 1930, in Pittsylvania County, Va., she was the daughter of John L. Taylor and Willie Walters Taylor.
She was a graduate of Southside High School and Virginia State University before her illness.
She was a Social Worker in the Staten Island Department of Social Services. She was a member of A.K.A. Sororiety.
Survivors include three daughters, Arline Woodbury of New York, Brenda W. Williams of Plainfield, and Kathryn W. Zeno of Ridgewood, N.J.; two sisters, Marian T. Tyrance of Washington, D.C. and Muriel T. Beavers of Danville; four brothers, Douglas Taylor of Washington D.C., Junius Taylor and Carl Taylor, both of Philadelphia, Pa., and Samuel Taylor of Danville, Va.; and three grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 9:30 a.m. today at Metropolitan A.M.E. Church in Ridgewood. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery in Scotch Plains, N.J.
C.C. Van Emburgh, of Ridgewood, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
James Madison
MARTINSVILLE, Va. - James L. Madison, 84, of 84 Apache Trail, died Wednesday, June 2, 1999, at Beverly Health Care Center.
Born July 15, 1917, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Walter Madison and Candy William Madison.
He was married
to Dora Adam Madison, who predeceased him.
He was a retired farmer and plumber.
Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Divens of Martinsville; two sons, Willie Lewis Madison of Danville and Theordore R. Madison of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one sister, Clara Madison of Baltimore, Md.; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. today at New Design Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwight Mack officiating. Burial will be in Silver Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

James Mills
HALIFAX, Va. - James Richard Mills, 85, of 5114 Halifax Road, died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at his residence.
Born Aug. 7, 1913, in Millstone Community of Halifax County, he was the son of Leslie Dibrell Mills and Margaret Katherine Blanks Mills.
He was married
to Emelyn Anderson Carr Mills.
He was a member of the Beth Car Baptist Church and a founding member of the Halifax Volunteer Fire Department.
A lifelong tobacconist, he was president of C.W. Walters Tobacco Company of South Boston and prior to his retirement was a leaf supervisor for Dibrell Brothers, Inc. of Danville.
Surviors include three daughters, Anne M. Sizemore of Liberty, Mo., Rebecca M. Reichlin of Girdwood, Alaska, and Emelyn M. Weyandt of Vienna; two sisters, Dorothy Mills Guill of Halifax and Margaret Mills Bowman of New Hope, Pa.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Beth Car Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Stewart and the Rev. Dr. Melvin Bradshaw officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. today at Powell Funeral Home.
Clara Tuck
PITTSVILLE Va. - Clara Jane Tuck, 81, of 219 Tuck Road, died Friday, June 4, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born June 6, 1917, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Munford Tuck and Emma Hancock Tuck.
She was married
for 63 years to the Rev. Woodrow Tuck, who survives.
She was a member of Mountain View Christian Church and a homemaker.
In addition to her husband, survivors include one sister, Roberta Swain of Pittsville.
She was predeceased by one daughter, Shirley Ann Tuck; two brothers, E.M. "Onyx" Tuck and Aubrey Tuck; and two sisters, Mary Jacobs and Evelyn Phillips.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Mountain View Christian Church with Ted Clifton, minister, J.D. Hunt III, minister, and Steve Hayes, minister, officiating. Burial will be in the Tuck Family cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. today at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
Inez Wilson
DANVILLE, Va. - Inez Marguerite English Wilson, 75, of 149 Executive Court, Abingdon Place, died Friday, June 4, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center after nine months of declining health.
Born June 1, 1924, in Campbell County, she was the daughter of George Pierce English and Nolia Malvella Law English.
She was married
Feb. 14, 1953, to Seward Johnson Wilson Jr., who survives.
She worked for a short time with the government in Washington, D.C. and in 1947 moved to the Danville area where she was employed at Brown's Jewelry and was also employed with Clement and Wheatley as a legal secretary.
She went to work at Danville Vault Corp. in 1957 as secretary and bookkeeper and in 1968, she became business manager for Danville Vault Co., Russell's Paint Center, and Hi and Dri Storage prior to her retirement in 1998.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Bridgettes Bridge Club.
She graduated from Altavista High School in 1941, and was a graduate of Lynchburg Business College.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include one daughter, Marguerite Veniece Burlage of Virginia Beach; one son, S.J. Wilson III of Jacksonville, N.C.; two sisters, Juanita Frances English Willis and Annette English McQuinn, both of Danville; three brothers, Wendell Blair English of Danville, Roland DeLafayette English of Newport News, and Harold Thomas English of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and one grandchild.
She was predeceased by one brother, George Pierce English Jr. and one sister, Claudette English.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel and at other times at the residence.
Theodore Young
RINGGOLD, Va. - Theodore D. Young, 74, of 2523 Tom Fork Road, died Friday, June 4, 1999, at his residence after six months of declining health.
Born July 2, 1924, in Keokuk, Iowa, he was the son of Charles William Young and Iva Huston Young.
He was married
November 20, 1942, to Elizabeth Merchant Young, who predeceased him.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He lived most of his life in the Danville and Pittsylvania County areas where prior to his retirement, he worked for Disston Inc. as a consultant.
He was a member of Schoolfield Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Tracy Lynn Young of the residence; one son, Theodore D. Young Jr. of Danville; and two grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three brothers.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Danville Memory Gardens with the Rev. David Turbyfill officiating. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at the chapel and at other times at the residence.
Charles Cauwels
DANVILLE, Va. - Charles Henry Cauwels, 79, of 303 Major Court, died Saturday, June 5, 1999, at his daughter's residence.
Born April 26, 1920, in Chicago, he was the son of Frank Cauwels and Josephine Vierick Cauwels.
He was married
to Genevieve Miartha Cauwels, who predeceased him in 1997.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was a retired supervisor of Ross Labs in the can production plant.
He is survived by one daughter, Kathy Smith of Danville; one son-in-law, Lee Smith of Danville; one son, Charles Cauwels of Geneva, Ill.; two sisters who live out of town; a grandson, Chip Smith of Danville; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held later in Michigan.
The family will be at the daughter's residence at 303 Major Court.

Tony Dix
DANVILLE, Va. - Tony Allen Dix, 37, 214 Guilford St., died Friday, June 4, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center after three years of declining health.
Born Oct. 3, 1961, in Danville, he was the son of the late Raymond Allen Dix and Ramona Tyree Dix, who survives.
He lived his entire life in the Danville area and worked as a HVAC technician in the heating and air conditioning field. He attended Third Avenue Christian Church.
In addition to his mother of the residence, survivors include two sisters, Wanda Edwards of Danville and April Saunders of Dry Fork; and a maternal grandmother, Virgie Tice of Lynchburg.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. today at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Rev. Freddy J. Vicks officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Lottie Dixon
LANDOVER HILL, Md. - Lottie Mae Dixon, 99, of 6721 Fairwood Road, formerly of Blairs, died Wednesday, June 2, 1999, at the Regency Nursing and Rehabilitative Treatment Center.
Born Feb. 29, 1900, in Danville, Va., she was the daughter of Elijah Adams and Alice Adams. She was married
to James Dixon, who died July 6, 1966.
She was a member of Greater Triumph Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include six daughters, Josephine Terry and Thelma Waters, both of Danville; Ruth Adams of Blairs, Hilda Fitzgerald of Landover Hills, Fannie Motley of Bladenburg, Md., and Nancy Miller of Washington, D.C.; one son, Reuben Dixon of Danville; 50 grandchildren, 108 great-grandchildren, 60 great-great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Greater Triumph Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. H.G. McGee officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery.
A viewing will be held 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home, Danville.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her daughter, Ruth Adams, 1821 Malmaison Road, Blairs.
