DANVILLE, Va. - Mathew Kay Dalton, 35, of 1164 Twin Arch Drive, died suddendly, Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, in Wytheville, Va.
Born Dec. 3, 1963, in Chatham, he was the son of Edward E. Dalton and Charlene E. Cook. He was the step-son of Prindle Dalton and Jack Cook.
He married
Brenda Gamble Dalton, who survive.
He spent most of his life in Keeling and Danville communities. He was a graduate of Danville Community College in drafting and design. He was owner and operator Tune and Toler Inc., in Chatham where he was master mechanic in heating, air conditioning, electrical and plumbing. He was an active member of Full Gospel Fellowsip Church where he played the trumpet. He was a licensed minister who held the office of administrator, and served as an elder for 12 years.
In addition to his wife of the residence, mother and stepfather of Danville, father and stepmother of Keeling, survivors include two sisters, Sandra Wood of Keeling and Bonnie Roberts of Danville; one brother, Randy E. Dalton of Keeling; and one stepson, Dennis Wilson of Shelby, N.C.; and three stepgrandchildren.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Full Gospel Fellowship Church with the Rev. Roger Ewing and the Rev. Cabel Cobbs officiating. Burial will be in Dalton Family cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel and at other times at the residence.
Juanesta Robertson
DANVILLE, Va. - Juanesta C. Robertson, 47, of 876 Edmonds St., died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born May 16, 1952, in Danville, she was the daughter of the late James R. Coleman and Marian Johnson Coleman, who survive.
She was married
to Robin Robertson, who also survives.
In addition to his mother of Danville and wife, survivors include one daughter, Alisha Curley of Danville; one sister, Marilyn Coleman of Danville; three brothers, Jeffrey R. Coleman, Thomas M. Coleman, both of Danville, and Victor Coleman of Indianapolis; and three grandchildren.
A funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Bibleway Worldwide Church of God with the Apostle Lawrence Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her mother, 160 Bell Drive.

Walter Woody Sr.
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. - Walter Bass Woody Sr., 66, of 303 Nottingham Drive, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born March 18, 1933, in Halifax County, he was the son of Julian Earnest Woody and Ruth Bass Woody.
He was married
to Janie Wilborn Woody, who survives.
He served in the United States Army and was a retired supervisor of Rochester Button Co. He was a member of Black Walnut Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of South Boston, survivors include one son, Walter Bass Woody Jr. of South Boston; one daughter Patricia W. Powell of Paces; one sister, Alice W. Satterfield of South Boston; and two brothers, Charles E. Woody of South Boston and John Emmitt Woody of Richmond; and four grandchildren.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Black Walnut Baptist Church with the Rev. Grover Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Burton Buettner
DANVILLE, Va. - Burton Lewis Buettner, 83, of 322 Westhamton Ave., died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, in Danville Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born March 22, 1916, in New Britian, Conn., he was the son of Carl Max Buettner and Gertrude Glanzman Buettner.
He was married
to Leona Merricks Buettner, who survives.
He moved to Danville at an early age and attended public schools. He worked with his father in Danville and retired from Frankenbuger Clothing. He was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church for 70 years. He served as a member of the church council, the Senior Choir and served on numerous committes.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include one daughter, Karen B. Cash of Brentwood, Tenn.; two brothers, Vincent R. Buettner and Karl Max Buettner, both of Danville; three sisters, Emma Tile of Danville, Lillian Dodd of Reidsville, N.C. and Doris Harrington of Secretary, Md.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by by two daughters, Janet B. Lind and Lisa E. Buettner.
A funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Ascension Lutheran Church with the Pastor Caldwell Day officiating. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.

HALIFAX, Va. - Patsy Cole Conner, 61, of 1080 Cowford Road, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born Nov. 10, 1937, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of the late John T. Cole and Vivian Garner Cole, who survive.
She was married
to Hugh Hagood "Billy" Conner, who predeceased her.
She was a nurse with Halifax Regional Hospital and a member of Scottsburg United Methodist Church.
In addition to her mother of Scottsburg; survivors include four daughters, Patricia C. Seat of Scottsburg, Deborah C. Hogan and Catherine C. Lipscomb, both of Halifax, and Cynthia C. Holberton of Chesapeake; four sisters, Frances Wilson and Gaye Rice, both of Halifax, Nancy Adams of Texas and Jackie Wilborne of Colorado; and six grandchildren.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ann Davidson officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery in Scottsburg.

Jean Hardison
DANVILLE, Va. - Jean Norton Hardison, 66, of 520 Bermuda Road, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at her residence after three months of declining health.
Born Nov. 29, 1932, in the Ringgold community of Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Marshall W. Norton and Nellie Gibson Norton Farson, who survives. She was the stepdaughter of the late James T. Farson.
She married
March 23, 1951, to Frank Ray Hardison, who predeceased her Aug. 7, 1998.
She lived all of her life in Pittsylvania County and Danville. She was employed by the Piggly-Wiggly Supermarket as a night manager for a number of years until her health problems began in June. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her mother of Danville, survivors include two sons, Raymond L. Hardison and Marc A. Hardison, both of Danville; one daughter, Lisa H. Pyron of Keeling; one sister, Gayle N. Samuelson of Conyers, Ga.; and six grandchildren.
In addition to her father, husband and stepfather, she was predeceased by one son, John Marshall Hardison.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Carl Burger officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence.

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. - Ruth Henderson Hodnett, 82, of 1181 Hummingbird Lane, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at her residence.
Born Nov. 28, 1916, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of Hubert Henderson and Annie Dunn Henderson.
She was married
to Albert Madison Hodnett, who survives.She was a member of Oak Level Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her husband of South Boston, survivors include two sisters, Sarah Lebsack of South Boston and Margaret Dorman of Charlottesville; two brothers, Howell Henderson of Powhatan and Charlie Henderson of Halifax.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Oak Level Presbyterian Church cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Russell Lee officiating.

CHATHAM, Va. - James Lacy Anderson, 51, of 1623 Chelton Ave., Philadelphia, and formerly of Chatham, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, in Philadelphia.
Born Jan. 31, 1948, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Birdie Anderson Penn and the late Clabon Anderson.
Survivors include one daughter, Shuran Craft of New York; two sons, Stacy Craft of New York and Kirkland Younger of Danville; one sister, Dassie A. Burton of Danville; four brothers, Archie Chattin and the Rev. Carlton Anderson, both of Philadelphia, Cubie Anderson and Clabon Anderson, both of Chatham and five grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Cherrystone Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Floyd Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest cemetery.
