JAVA, Va. - Sally Raynor Farmer, 64, of 13076 Chatham Road in Java, died Nov. 28, 1999 at the Woodview.
Born Feb. 15, 1935 in Halifax County, she was the daughter of Otis Raynor and Mary Newby Raynor. She was married
to Joe Hugh (Pete) Farmer.
She was a member of the County Line Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Terrie F. Spell of South Boston, her mother, Mary Newby Raynor of Vernon Hill; three sisters, Shirley R. Whitlow of Ingram, Lois R. Betterton of Altavista, and Betty R. Davis of Vernon Hill and one grandson. She was predeceased by one brother, Otis "Boo" Raynor.
The funeral will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday at County Line Baptist Church with the Rev. Joey Cantrell officiating. The burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will recieve friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Powell Funeral Home in South Boston and other times at the residence of her daughter, 1512 Dogwood Lane in South Boston.
Irma Hall
DANVILLE, Va. - Irma Waller Hall, 97, formerly of Courtland Street in Danville, died on Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999 at Danville Regional Medical Center after several years of declining health.
Born March 14, 1912 in Halifax County, she was the daughter of Alonza M. Waller and Lota M. Blanks Waller.
She was married
to Aubrey Elvin Hall on Dec. 22, 1935, who predeceased her Oct. 31, 1985.
She lived most her life in Danville, where she retired from the former Life Insurance Company of Virgina, where she worked for a number of years as a cashier.
She was member of Shelton Memorial Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school. She was member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, the Danville Rebekah Lodge #80, the Women of the Moose and th Wyanette Coucil of Pocahontas.
She is survived by three foster sons, Reubin J. Earles of Danville, Fletcher M Earles of Collinsville and Calvin L. Earles of Dunnellon Fla.; and one foster daughter, Audrey Earles Poteat of Milton, N.C.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel.
Henry Henson
DANVILLE, Va. - Henry Edward Henson, 78, of 121 Austin Circle, died Saturday morning, Nov. 27, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born April 26, 1921, in Greenville, S.C., he was the son of Henry Benjamin Henson and Lillian Center Henson.
He worked at McDonnell-Douglas until his retirement in 1980. He was a World War II veteran having served under Gen. George S. Patton.
He received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart twice. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. He was married
on Jan. 1, 1992 to Peggy Green Henson, who survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife of the residence include two sisters, Margaret Pruitt and Wilma Salmon, both of Danville; one son, Henry B. Henson of Spartanburg, S.C.; one daughter, Jacquelin Shipman of Spartanburg; and several grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Mike Hearp officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence, 121 Austin Circle.

Viola Stranahan
DANVILLE, Va. - Viola Thomas Stranahan, 95, formerly of 224 Courtland St., died Saturday morning, Nov. 27, 1999, at Gretna Health Care Center.
Born Feb. 6, 1904, in Charlotte, N.C., she was the daughter of John Thomas and Florence Austin Thomas. She lived most of her life in New York. She moved to Danville in 1970.
She was a member of Forest Lawn Baptist Church, and she was a registered nurse before retiring.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald H. Stranahan, on Dec. 3, 1970.
She also was predeceased by one brother, Bill Thomas, and two sisters, Carrie Brigman and Pauline Jones.
Survivors include one sister, Mozelle T. Shorter of Danville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Roger Austin and Rev. Gilmer Setliff officiating.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at Barker Funeral Home Chapel, and at other times will be at the residence of her niece, Ramona Tuck, 105 Music St., Gretna.
Hilda Tunstall
SOUTH HILL, Va. - Mrs. Hilda Nichols Simmons Tunstall died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, in South Hill and was the daughter of the late Lewis Nichols and Ester Watts Daniels.
She is survived by a devoted daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and H.P. Farrar of South Hill; two grandsons, Randy and Troy Farrar, both of Richmond; three granddaughters, Morgan, Ashton and Allyson Farrar of South Hill; five sisters, Grace Edmondson of Clover, Doris Bishop of Lynchburg, Marvis Dean Keslings of Clarksburg, WVa., and Bernice Bagley and Louise Ogburn, both of South Hill; and one brother, Warren Nichols of South Hill. Also surviving are four sisters-in-law: Ann S. Crute-Bays, Elizabeth S. McClintock, June Nichols and Mary Nichols, all of South Hill.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward R. Simmons and a brother, Curtis Nichols.
She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Farrar Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Bob Rooks officiating. Interment
will follow at the Pleasant Grove UMC cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m Monday.

Edward Weber
ORLANDO PARK, Ill. - Edward C. Weber, 90, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999.
Survivors include three daughters: Lorraine Mooha, Joan F. Gignac, and Carol Ann Gambla; one son, Edward J. Weber; one sister, Sophie Cylke; 17 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday from the Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 9000 West 151st St., Orlando Park, to St. Alexander Church.
Mass is at 10 a.m. Interment
will be at Resurrection cemetery.

William Sidney
DANVILLE, VA. - William Alphonso Sidney, 51, of 305 South Main St., died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999, at his residence after a decline in health.
Born May 5, 1948, in Caswell County, N.C. he was the son of Gordon Sidney and Alberta Sidney.
He married
Sherry McCollum, who survives.
He was employed at Dan River, Inc. prior to his decline in health.
Survivors include three daughters Shelia Sidney, Cynthia Morton and Sandy McCollum, all of Danville; one son Anthony Sidney of Leasville, N.C.; two sisters Nancy Oakes of Gretna and Doris Pettiford of Washington, D.C.; four brothers Garland Sidney of Danville, Dale Sidney of Providence, N.C. and James Sidney of Landover, Md.; and five grandchildren.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at River Zion Baptist Church, Blanch, N.C., with the Rev. Stephen Tyrone Thornton officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence. Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Orion Lindell Cruise
CHESTER, Va. - Orion Lindell Cruise, formerly of Danville and Reedville, Va., died November 29, 1999, in Chester, Va. Mr. Cruise was born in Patrick Co., Va., in 1907, the son of James Rangely and Ida Light Cruise. He served in the U.S. Army from 1927-1930, then was employed by Trailways Bus Company until his retirement in 1972. He and his late wife, Ann Parks Cruise, retired to Reedville, Va., where they lived until her death in 1993.
Mr. Cruise was very active in the Masonic Order in Danville and Reedville. Many people in Danville will remember him as the friendly man behind the ticket counter of the Trailways bus terminal. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Danville and Bethany United Methodist Church, Reedville.
He is survived by his brother, Aaron V. Cruise, Winnsboro, TX; his son, Lindell P. Cruise and wife, Constance H. Cruise, Richmond, Va.; grandsons, David L. Cruise and William R. Cruise and their families, including three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethany United Methodist Church, Reedville. Burial will be in Roseland cemetery, Reedville. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Jones-Ash Funeral Home, Heathsville.

Carrie Mann Easter
NORFOLK, Va. - Carrie Mann Easter, age 87, of 1028 Hannah Street, in Norfolk, Va., died Saturday, November 27, 1999.
She was born in Gainesville, North Carolina. She was the widow of Thomas Easter, Sr.
She was employed with Norfolk Naval Supply Center as a clerk with 33 years of service prior to her retirement. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Thomasine E. Carter and John B. Carter, both of Danville, Va.; two sons Lloyd Mann and Thomas Easter, Jr., both of Norfolk, Va.; one grandson, Reginald Easter of Raford, N.C., and a host of other relatives and friends.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to service at The Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Norfolk, Va.
The family and friends will assemble at the residence for the procession to the church.
A funeral will be held at Noon Thursday, December 2, 1999, at the church with the Rev. William L. Davis officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Garden. Metropolitan Funeral Services, Granby St. in Norfolk, is in charge of arrangements.
Gladys Moore
DANVILLE, Va. - Gladys Arnold Moore, 78, of 115 Ficklen Ave., died at 9:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 9, 1921, in Danville, she was the daughter of Leonard Joseph Arnold and Bertha Mae Pruitt Arnold.
She was married
Nov. 30, 1939, to Harold E. Moore, who survives.
She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
She was employed as office clerk in No. 2 Inspection at Dan River, Inc.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include four sisters, Evelyn Hoover of Danville, Clara Schott of Kansas City, Mo., Connie Hill and Winnie Smith, both of Springfield.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph Arnold, Thomas Arnold and Noah Arnold; and one sister, Annie Hoover.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Barker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronald W. Mateer officiating. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.

Cecil Sizer
DANVILLE, Va. - Cecil G. Sizer, 93, formerly of 114 Cheryl Drive, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at The Laurels of Willow Creek Health Care Center, Richmond.
Born Jan. 3, 1906, in Boutetout County, he was the son of Charles Sizer and Katie Rocke Sizer. He married
Helen Suits Sizer, who predeceased him Oct. 28, 1995.
He lived most of his life in Danville and worked until his retirement at Dan River Inc.
He then worked a short time at The Downtowner. He was a member of North Main Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters Catherine S. Harris of Chester, and Linda S. DelPrince of Davis County, Fla.; one son James Kenneth Sizer of Orlando, Fla.; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by one son Bobby Lee Sizer; two brothers Hubert Sizer and C. William Sizer; and five sisters Effie S. Newton, Edith S. Glover, Elsie S. Brightwell, Pernie S. Ashby and Hannah S. Adams.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Barker Funeral Home Chapel. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
