Edgar Bradshaw
CASCADE, Va. - Edgar Joe Bradshaw, 72, formerly of 4181 Whispering Pines Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Riverside Health Care Center after ten months of declining health.
Born March 23, 1927, in Jackson County, N.C., he was the son of Joseph E. Bradshaw and Laura Mae Nations Bradshaw.
He married
Iona Custer Bradshaw, who predeceased him Nov. 21, 1988.
He spent most of his life in the Cascade community and was of the Baptist faith. He worked at American Furniture Company in Martinsville, Va.
Survivors include one son, David Bradshaw of Axton; one step-son, Eddie Pickeral of Texas; one brother, Jimmy R. Bradshaw of Danville; three sisters, Trellamae Clark, Beulah B. Hardy and Imogene Blanks, all of Danville.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at New Bethel Church of the Brethern cemetery, Pittsylvania County, with the Rev. Roy Newton officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his sister Imogene Blanks, 250 Alpine Drive.

Betty Fulk
RINGGOLD, Va. - Betty Anne Moshenek Fulk, 43, of 2972 Rock Springs Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center for one day of ten years of declining health.
Born Aug. 3, 1956, in Danville, she was the daughter of Billy Edward Moshenek Sr. and Louise Bray Moshenek, who both survive.
She married
Robert Lewis Fulk on April 10, 1976, who also survives.
She lived all her life in the Ringgold community where she was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to her parents of Ringgold and husband of the residence, survivors include one daughter, Christen F. Clayton of Sutherlin; three sons, Robert Edward Fulk of Cascade, Jason David Fulk and Eric Lynn Fulk, both of Ringgold; one brother Billy Edward Moshenek Jr. of Providence, N.C.; grandmother, Thelma W. Bray of Blanche, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Rev. Donald Mahan and the Rev. Dr. R.J. Barber Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Moshenek Family cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and at other times at the Moshenek residence at 4309 Ringold Church Road.
Adaam Garrison
CHATHAM, Va. - Adaam Spencer Hunt Garrison, 15, of 264 Concord Road, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, N.C.
Born Nov. 30, 1984, in Carbondale, Ill., he was the son of Isadore Garrison Jr. and Brenda Taylor Mitchell Garrison, both survive.
He attended Southside Elementary School, GLH Johnson Elementary School, Schoolfield Elementary School, Westwood Middle School and Tunstall High School. He was a member of Vance Street Baptist Church, Danville, and was associated with the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Gretna.
In addition to his father of Thompsonville, Ill. and mother of Chatham, survivors include three sisters, Nathalie Garrison of Indianapolis, Latasha Garrison of Carbondale, Amy Mitchell of Atlanta; three brothers, Sean Garrison of Indianapolis, Joseph Garrison and Isadore Garrison III, both of Thompsonville; paternal grandparents, Isadore Garrison Sr. and Wanda Haynes, both of Carbondale; and maternal grandfather, Gary Hunt Taylor of Yanceyville, N.C.
A viewing will be 7-8 p.m. Thursday at Greater Triumph Missionary Baptist Church.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Ben L. Logan officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.

Margaret Haley
DANVILLE, Va. - Margaret Virginia Dunn Haley, age 82, of 156 Gray Street, died Tuesday, December 7, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born May 29, 1917, in Damascus, she was the daughter of the late James "Red" Dunn and Ida Dunn Wilson.
She was married
February 22, 1957, to William S. Haley Jr., of the home.
Mrs. Haley had lived most of her life in Danville and carried papers for many years at the Danville Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of the New Life Community Church.
In addition to her husband of the home, survivors include three daughters, June Delores Grant of East Keansburg, N.J., Yvonne Marie Farmer of Ringgold and Brenda Kay Scearce of Dry Fork; one son, James Michael Dunn of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her daughter at 301 Manna Hill Road, Ringgold.

Lucille Harris
DANVILLE, Va. - Lucille Wimble Harris, 90, formerly of 123 Third Ave., died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Stratford Health Care Center.
Born July 30, 1909, in Sanford, N.C., she was the daughter of Thomas David Wilkie and Lena Welborn Wilkie.
She married
J.W. Harris, who predeceased her Jan. 11, 1984.
She lived most of her life in Danville and was a member of Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church.
She worked at Prescott Dry Cleaners as sales clerk before retirement.
Survivors include one daughter, Sylvia Payne of Danville; one son, Ray Harris of Danville; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by two sons, Edward Rigsby and Thomas Rigsby.
A funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Barker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Scott Huffstetler and the Rev. Calvin Blackstock officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her daughter, 137 Tamworth Drive.
Brian Keith Hobson Sr.
DANVILLE, Va. - Brian Keith Hobson, Sr. age 34, of 155 Ruskin Street, died early Wednesday morning, December 8, 1999, as the result of an automobile accident on the Shady Grove Road in Caswell County, North Carolina.
Mr. Hobson was born in Danville on August 17, 1965, a son of David C. "Joe" Hobson and Frances Hines Hobson, both of whom survive.
Mr. Hobson had spent most of his life in Danville where he was an electrician and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors in addition to his parents of Danville include one son: Brian Keith Hobson Jr. of Dry Fork, and one Brother and sister in law: David and Cindy Hobson of Danville, and his paternal grandparents: John and Vernie Hobson of Yadkinville, North Carolina, and his maternal grandmother and Step Grandfather: Thelma and Herbert Peters of Danville.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Woodrow Hines.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Daniel G. Lackey.
Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., and at other times at the residence of his parents, 155 Ruskin Street.
Paul Shorter
DANVILLE, Va. - Paul Andrew Shorter, 72, of One Holcomb St., died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center after several years of declining health.
Born June 5, 1927, in Danville, he was the son of Peter Shorter and Minnie Webb Shorter.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy served during World War II. He spent all of his life in the Danville area where he worked as a security guard for Link's. He was of the Holiness faith.
Survivors include three sisters, Ruby Wiggins of Pelham, N.C., Elizabeth Welch of Darlington, S.C., and Lorraine Starr of Billings, Mont.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Danville Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Michael J. Kent officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his niece, Joyce Wray, 2766 Chandlers Mill Road, Pelham.

Elsie Smith
PENHOOK, Va. - Elsie Rigney Smith, 89, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home, Danville.
She married
Wendell B. Smith, who survives.
She taught school in Franklin and Pittsylvania Counties beginning in one-room schools. She was a member of Penhook United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include one daughter, Sylvia Smith Henry of Danville; one son, Ronald B. Smith of Roanoke; one sister, Bessie Raybeck of Louisville, Ky.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one son, Thomas A. Smith.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Penhook United Methodist Church with the Rev. Betty Daniels-Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion cemetery.

John Walker
DANVILLE, Va. - John Thomas Walker, 68, of 1576 Old Mayfield Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at Danville Regional Medical Center for four days after six months of declining health.
Born March 19, 1931, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of George Washington Walker and Lola Mae Hodges Walker.
He married
Effie May Hammock Walker, who survives.
He spent most of his life in the Old Mayfield Road community, and worked for Danville Plywood before retiring in 1991. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include three sons, Thomas Lewis "Jr." Walker of Ringgold, Steve Edward Walker of Danville and Gary Michael Walker of Providence, N.C.; one daughter, Teresa Diane Sparks of Danville; two brothers, Howard Edward Walker of Museville and Roy Lewis Walker of Danville; two sisters, Laura Elizabeth Adkins of Blairs and Goldie Mae Barbour of Pelham, N.C.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Linwood Hairfield and the Rev. Roger Ewing officiating. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. Ralph Norman Duffie, 64, of 1021 Noblin Ave., died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born Nov. 25, 1935, in South Boston, he was the son of the late Jollie James Duffie and Virginia Reaves Duffie, who survives.
He attended McCanless Memorial United Methodist Church. He was disabled.
In addition to his mother of South Boston, survivors include one sister, Carole D. Rotter of South Boston and two brothers, Carl Duffie of South Boston and Gerald Duffie of Danville.
