COLUMBIA, S.C. - Beverly Ann Trapp, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center, Columbia, S.C. after a lengthly battle with Leukemia.
Born Aug. 28, 1950, she was the daughter of Lewis L. Williamson and Janet W. Williamson. She married
Howard Trapp, who survives.
She graduated from John M. Langston High School in 1968.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Valencia and Breana; one sister, Barbara Toney; two brothers Robert and Lewis; and one grandchild.
Funeral service was conducted at First Nazareth Baptist Church in Columbia with the Rev. Blakely Scott officiating.
Palmer's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Eugene West
RIDGEWAY, Va. - Eugene Garland West, 63, of 145 Sheffield Rd., died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, in Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
Born June 9, 1936, in Pittsylvania Co., he was the son of Bernard Ray West and Grace Towler West.
He married
Ruby Ingram West, who survives.
He was an employee of American Furniture Co. and a member of Piney Fork Baptist Church in Gretna.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, Gregory West of Lawrenceville, Ga.; one brother, B.R. West, Jr. of Martinsville, and one sister, Jeannette Watson of Danville.
A funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, at Norris Funeral Services Chapel with the Revs. Kenneth Peters and Lee Hendricks officiating.
The burial will be at Roselawn cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, from 7-8:30 at Norris Funeral Home, and other times at the home.

Elwood Cook
GRETNA, Va. - Elwood Lee Cook Sr., 78, of 5921 Rockford School Rd., died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born Nov. 27, 1921, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Wady P. Cook and Lillian Mitchell Cook.
He was first married
to the late Helen Barnes Cook and then to Madie Adkins Cook, who survives. He was a retired mechanic, and a member of the Chatham Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a life member of DAV chapter 46, and a member of the VFW.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Elwood Lee Cook Jr. and Reginald Cook, both of Gretna; one daughter, Gloria Kinsler of Gretna; one brother, George Cook of Roanoke; a stepson, Joseph Adkins of Gretna; four stepdaughters, Patsy Creasy, Betty Creasy, Dorothy Cook and Kathy Daniel, all of Gretna; nine grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Patsy Cook Irby.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Chatham Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Wayne Prillaman and the Rev. Gene Ashworth officiating. Burial will follow in the Cook family cemetery with military honors by VFW Post No. 4165 and DAV Chapter 46.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

Sarah Monnich
DANVILLE, Va. - Sarah Elizabeth Monnich, 79, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, in the Riverside Health Care Center.
Born March 18, 1920, in Bovard, Pa., she was the daughter of Charles Monnich and Violet Muir Monnich.
She is survived by one brother, Carl W. Monnich of Danville.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mountain View cemetery with the Rev. John Warner officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her brother, 207 Cline St.

Alice Petty
DANVILLE, Va. - Alice Waller Petty, 94, of 180 Forestdale Drive, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 10, 1904, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Thomas F. Waller Sr. and Carrie Terry.
She married
Arthur B. Petty, who predeceased her. She was a housewife and member of Shockoe Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Charlie Petty of Randleman, N.C., Jimmy F. Petty of Baltimore, Issac "B." Petty of Forestville, Md. and Henry A. Petty of Southerlin; four daughters, Thelma P. Hutchins of Danville, Rebecca P. Ellis of Cleveland, Tella "Marie" Henry of Ringgold, and Marilynn Austin of Richton Park, Ill.; one sister, A.J. Logan of Java; 35 grandchildren, and 51 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Shockoe Baptist Church with the Rev. G.H. Pass officiating. Interment
will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church cemetery.

Warren Pickral
KEELING, Va. - William Warren Pickral, 70, of 4336 Mount Tabor Road, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, in Danville Regional Medical Center after several years of declining health, and one week in the hospital.
Born April 2, 1929, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Calvin Pickral and Alice Pickral.
He lived all of his life in Pittsylvania County. He was retired from the City of Danville Electric Dept., and had attended the Church of God of Prophecy. He also served in the U.S. Army. He was predeceased by one brother, Marvin Pickral.
Survivors include four sons, Larry Pickral, Lynn Pickral, Daryl Pickrall, and Ricky Pickral, all of Gretna; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel, with the Rev. Jack Robertson officiating. Interment
will follow at the Shiva Church of Christ in Gretna.

Genell Rigney Wyatt
DANVILLE, Va. - Genell Rigney Wyatt, 49, of 204 Parsons Street, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at Duke University Medical Center, Durham N.C., after five years of declining health and a 17-week stay in the hospital.
Born Aug. 27, 1950, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Walter James Rigney and Inez Rigney Rigney.
She married
Norman Lee Wyatt, who survives. She spent most of her life in Danville where she worked for Dan River Inc., and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include three sons, Barry Wayne Wyatt of Dry Fork, Donnie Lee Wyatt of Axton and Gary Dale Wyatt of the residence; two stepsons, Norman Lee Wyatt Jr., and Richard Edward Wyatt of Danville; one stepdaughter, Kimberly Gayle Wyatt of Danville; five brothers, James Addison Rigney, Clayton Tony Rigney, and Jerry Wayne Rigney, all of Whitmell, Steve Rigney of Danville and Saford Rigney of Ringgold; four sisters, Arlene Rigney of Ringgold, and Geneva Jones, Hillie Lloyd, and Elizabeth Crumpton all of Danville; and ten grandchildren.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. John C. Gentry and the Rev. Randall S. Williams officiating. Interment
will follow at the Swansonville United Methodist Church cemetery.

Doris Hudgins
DANVILLE, Va. - Doris Olivia Powell Hudgins, 59, of 148 Debbie Lane, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at 22 Noel Ave. after three years of declining health.
Born Oct. 6, 1940, in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Walter Richardson Powell and Bessie Hancock Powell Keesee, who survives. She was the stepdaughter of Odell G. Keesee, who also survives.
She married
Russell Holland Hudgins Feb. 22, 1969, who survives.
She was a graduate of George Washington High School, Danville Community College and Averett College where she earned a degree in business administration. She worked for Danville Regional Medical Center as Pharmacy Reimbusement Specialist. She lived her entire life in Danville. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, American Business Women's Association, the Danville Kennell Club and the International Management Council.
In addition to her mother and stepfather, both of Danville, and husband of the residence, survivors include one sister, Barbara P. Jarrett of Danville; and one brother, Hayward R. Powell of Keeling.
A funeral liturgy will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. David McGuire and Sister Barbara Bayzik officiating. Burial will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will have a vigil for the deceased 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and will receive friends at other times at the residence of her sister at 22 Noel Ave.
Edwin Milam Jr.
ALTON, Va. - Edwin Dallas Milam Jr., 41, of 2121 Medley Road, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, in Caswell County, N.C.
Born Feb. 7, 1958, in Danville, he was the son of Edwin Dallas Milam Sr. and Virginia Fincannon, who both survive. He was the stepson of Gladys Hedrick Milam.
He was employed with United Parcel Service for 23 years. He spent most of his life in Pittsylvania County and he was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his mother of Durham, N.C. and father of Ringgold, and step-mother of Ringgold, survivors include three daughters, Mary Exie Milam and Ashley Marie Milam, both of Alton, and Amanda Fay Milam Buchanan of Chatham; one son, Edwin Dalaas Milam III of Alton; four brothers, David George Milam of Sutherlin, Jeffrey Lynn Milam and Ronnie Alan Milam, both of Ringgold, and Richard Glenn Milam of Danville; and one sister, Kristi R. Milam of Roanoke.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Rev. David G. Wilson and Rev. Wayne Prilliman officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel and at other times at the residence.
Nellie Newcomb
CHASE CITY, Va. - Nellie Bailey Newcomb, 87, of Chase City, died Monday, December 20, 1999, at her residence.
She was a homemaker and the widow of Edward W. Newcomb.
Survivors are one son, Lacy Newcomb of Chase City; two daughters, Irma N. Garner of Chase City and Hilda N. Tharpe of Drakes Branch; two sisters, Harriett B. Wilmouth of Chester and Frances B. Thompson of South Hill; four brothers, A. Earnest Bailey of Plantersville, Edward Bailey Sr. of Chase City, Curtis Bailey of Richmond, and J. Milton Bailey of Colonial Heights; six grandchildren, Cynthia G. Gordon, Kim N. Tisa, Lisa G. Crenshaw, Michele G. Lawson, E. Scott Newcomb and James Ray Tharpe; two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Megan Gordon; many devoted friends, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 21, from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Davis Funeral Home, Chase City; funeral services will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 22, at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Doug Guard officiating. Interment
will follow at Salem Christian Church cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

James "Buddy" Shelton
James Webster "Buddy" Shelton, age 65, of 188 Jamerson Road, Providence, North Carolina, died at his residence Monday afternoon December 20, 1999, after two years of declining health.
Mr. Shelton was born in Caswell County, North Carolina on July 8, 1934, a son of the late John William Shelton and Ellie Ethel Everhart Shelton.
He was married
to Zenobia "Susie" Shelton, who survives.
Mr. Shelton was a well driller and had worked for Shelton's Well Drilling for the past 20 years, and was of the Baptist faith.
He was predeceased by a brother, John Shelton.
Survivors in addition to his wife of the residence include three brothers: Neal Shelton of Shelby, North Carolina, and Phil Michael Shelton and David Wayne Shelton, both of Providence, North Carolina, and two sisters: Barbara Jean Collins of Ringgold, and Ruth Shelton Smith of Lakeland, Florida, and one daughter: Faye Dishman of Danville, and three step-children, Mrs. Patricia Ann Bledsoe of Kure Beach, North Carolina, and Ms. Sherry Dawn Hunt of Danville, and Michael Eugene Taylor of Providence, North Carolina, and six grandchildren and one great grandchild and special friends, Tracy Sumner and Dale Toler.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M Thursday at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. James Albert. Interment
will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 P.M., and at other times at the residence.
